This is my second purchase from Mid Century Mobler. They have a fantastic collection of beautiful vintage furniture and accessories, which is always changing and growing. The dresser was refinished perfectly--it looks brand new. The delivery was on time and very professional with no damage at all to the furniture or my house. The dresser fits perfectly because the measurements in the description were right on. I now have about seven pieces of furniture from MCM. It is not inexpensive, but every piece is a lifetime keeper. I was looking for an authentic Mid Century Modern console stereo and I found EXACTLY the make and model I was looking for at Mid Century Mobler. I stumbled upon it by simply doing a Google search and I discovered they had one in their possession !!! I reside in the NYC/NJ area, but I have a friend that lives in Oakland, and I asked him if he could go to Mid Century Mobler to look at it and inspect it on my behalf to determine if it was worth purchasing !!! My friend recorded his interaction with Julian, and he was very pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating, even though he knew my friend was recording him. I ended up being very impressed with the service my friend received and with the console, so I purchased it online. From start to finish, I felt the entire process was very effortless and smooth and I had absolutely no issues with the timeline, as they were very transparent with regard to the time from purchase to delivery would be and I was very pleased to know that their in-house furniture refinisher/refresher was able to work on the cabinet to refresh it to damn near showroom condition !!! Delivery was effortless and the movers brought it into my home carefully and placed it right in the spot I reserved for it. I'm pleased to report the console works well and other than my having to clean the heads on the reel to reel tape deck (which I suspect haven't been cleaned in years, if not decades), the unit works perfectly. (For the record, the reel to reel deck works and plays, but it drags a little, due to the heads needing to be cleaned, which is an easy fix) I would highly recommend Mid Century Mobler to anyone that is looking for high quality, beautifully crafted classic Mid Century Modern furniture .... read more

The quality of their assortment is, in our experience, unparalleled, but they match it with their clear expertise in their domain and above & beyond customer service. In addition to the bar and credenza we purchased, they also helped us coordinate 2 glass tops to protect our pieces for the long term -- one of which had to be carefully measured and custom made. Apparently they had to negotiate an issue with an earlier version as it did not fit properly (the glass is made by a third party) but to us it arrived perfectly and right on time. Last month I made my first vintage furniture purchase at Mobler, a Gillis Lundgren designed teak credenza. I knew it would be perfect for my home design aesthetic and functional needs as soon as I saw it in person. Julian was a wonderful salesman - friendly without being pushy, and informative. He described the repair and restoration work they would undertake and when it would be ready for me. Desiree kept me informed after the sale, and the restored credenza was finished, as promised, for pick up. do not buy from mid century mobler unless you want to be lied to about condition. and then they will continue to lie, offering you some shoe polish to fix, and then do nothing. buyer beware!!! it's not even about the money anymore, it is hoping people do not have to experience this in the future. we purchased "lovingly restored" paul mccobb table. there was not one note about damage, but they said it was fully restored. we got the table from the shipper and one leaf came in that was wrapped. the shipper said they picked it up that way, i unwrapped to see a huge and deep scratch 14" across the leaf which is the center of our $5000 table. i wrote on waybill then mid century said they were putting in a claim, which was abruptly denied as they said prior damage. mid century continued their con stating it was damaged in shipping they wanted to send some wax, which is shoe polish, to fix a scratch that goes completely through the veneer. then i looked through the pics they sent me, and true to shipper they picked up the piece that was damaged as all wrapped up. see photo. so not only did con artist mid century mobly know of the damage, they concealed it. after 1 day since i was focused on scratch i looked at table to find three 14" and greater cracks on the main part of table and the veneer is buckling and cracked all the way through, moisture is getting into the cracks and lifting the veneer. all this damage is on top of the table and totally visible, none was communicated. they said "lovingly restored". that meant to me i get a perfect table. this is far from it, there are a total of 65" of deep scratches or cracked and greatly damaged veneer. what a joke and it was shipped 3000 miles... do not trust these liars. if they are selling something with major cracks and damage, then disclose and adjust pricing, but a lightweight table for $5000 they that is badly damaged is a total joke.... images attached show the leaf that is scratched already wrapped at their location. email from them claiming excellent, restored, and inspected, lies, and pictures of the scratch, and cracks, all on top of the table, great damage they knew of all of it... talk about bait and switch!! read more

The shop is well-stocked w quality MCM pieces, but I would recommend online browsing as the in-store reps have been pretty unpleasant every time I've gone in--always imperious and condescending, like the average visitor isn't worthy of viewing or even buying the merchandise. There's very little patience for any browsing or questions. I guess there's something for being selective (or is there?), but it creates an unnecessarily unpleasant shopping experience. read more
