I hesitate to write this because, like a favored vacation spot, I fear that, once word gets out, this Walgreens will go the way of the CVS that had always been my go-to pharmacy. But I have to say something about Phoebe Mai, the Pharmacy Manager. There she was, visible through a window to the store, filling prescriptions at an experienced clip. The pharmacist tending to my prescription let me know that, yes, Walgreens could fill it, "But your doctor didn't write in the amount." It's late Friday afternoon/early evening, and the pharmacist is telling me that he will try to catch my doctor, but, if not, I'm probably out of luck until Monday - not at all good for the prescription I seek. Ms. Mai catches my attention and says, "Let me call him." I stand aside, trying to text him while Ms. Mai tries calling. Before I finish my text, I hear her calling my name. She has reached him, he has provided the quantity, and my prescription will be ready for pickup in 20 minutes. I was relieved and grateful - very grateful. read more

This review is for the pharmacy only. I just recently discovered that my insurance covers vaccines at the local drug store. When I needed my tdap, I found this Walgreens and made an appointment for later that day. I don't think appointments are required, but I didn't have to fill out paperwork when I arrived. They were pretty quick about the vaccine and didn't give me a hard time, like the Rite Aid did earlier that day. There were a lot of people in line for the pharmacy, so I think I was in the store for about an hour in total. They were really nice to everyone, even the people who seemed to have complex problems or complaints. I didn't get a chance to look at the Walgreens- it seemed a little small and older as I rushed to the back, but since I didn't need anything I didn't give it a fair chance. read more

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews... I have only had positive experiences with this pharmacy. They are quick to answer the phone and there's never a line. Also they always have my medication in stock when it's on back order everywhere else. Would recommend! ...However, perhaps they are awesome and fast these days since there are so many bad reviews and no one wants to go there... so on second thought, maybe stick to your pharmacy and don't come here. WORST PHARMACY EVER!!! I've tried for the past 3 days to transfer a prescription from CVS because sadly, they are no longer a in-network pharmacy with my insurance. So, I downloaded the Walgreens app and did the transfer my RX with a picture of the prescription as the app directs. After the picture was submitted, a notification popped up saying I would get text updates when the prescription was ready. So, yesterday, day 2, I hadn't received any updates and when checking the app, it didn't show I had any Rx pending. I called the pharmacy to see if my request was received and after waiting about 6 minutes, a male pharmacy staff member answered the phone. I explained I was waiting on an update regarding my transferred prescription request. He checked and told me he didn't see it in the system, so he took my information and the Rx information, advised he would contact CVS, and I would get a text update once the prescription was ready for pick up. This time, I did get a text message from Walgreens asking to confirm if I wanted to receive text updates, which I did confirm I was in agreement with. Day 3, still no updates, and the app still did not show any pending Rx so I couldn't check the status. I called this evening and waited one hour and 30 minutes before a female pharmacy tech answered the phone. She asked if I could continue to hold and I advised her I had already been holding an hour and a half and asked how much longer would I need to wait? She then asked me what was the purpose of my call so I went through the same explanation I had done the day before. She checked and advised there was nothing with my last name in their system. I asked what could she do then because I've been trying to get my prescription filled for 3 days now and need my medication. She asked if I could call back in the morning because one of their pharmacists went home sick and another tech had gone home also. So I asked, in an upset tone, that I had waited an hour and a half for her to tell me she couldn't help me? She then asked if I could wait while she checked to see if there was any paper lying around. I said yes and was placed on hold. A minute after her placing me on hold, which by the way is one hour and 33 minutes at this point, the phone started ringing. It rang for two minutes before the phone hung up on me. Needless to say, I will NOT be using Walgreens EVER AGAIN for ANYTHING! Don't waste your time! I could tell the pharmacy was leaving people on hold and not answering the phone because first the automated system said for about an hour that there were more than 3 callers ahead of me. Then after the hour passed, the system said there was one caller ahead of me for about 20 minutes. The pharmacy staff obviously weren't answering phone calls and left people on hold. This is a review specifically on one of their male employees. I have a rewards card and was supposed to get a discount for my transaction. I had it linked to an old zip code that I'd forgotten about so when I entered my current zip code, their system wouldn't accept it. Instead of starting a new transaction so I can use my discount, this employee tells me that I have been blocked out of their system!! What a lazy sleazebag!! Why couldn't he just start a new transaction again?! Well, because it required him to press a couple buttons and that is apparently TOO HARD TO DO. Requires a lot of skills and sweat just to press those buttons, you know. Jo Williams is a great employee and this is why I previously gave this Walgreens 5 stars. My goal for the morning: get a passport photo. I first went to Rite Aid, which was the nearest store. I should have known better because that particular Rite Aid always has the longest line. I went in and nobody was working in the photo area, naturally. They had no button to push for help, and all of the employees were seemingly avoiding eye contact. I stood in the photo area trying to attract attention. After several minutes with no luck getting assistance, no joke, the lights went out and a blaring alarm went off and then they did an "emergency shutdown" of the store. Then I went to CVS--the next closest store. Again, nobody working in the photo area and no readily available way of calling someone over. CVS at least, unlike Rite Aid, had a short line, and I was able to ask a cashier how to get assistance in the photo area. He was helpful and called "customer service" to the area, though I had to wait quite some time, and the person that eventually came over tried to talk me out of getting a passport photo there because it was "going to take a long time" because the only operable printer was processing a big job, he said. I insisted, he took my photo, and asked what time I'd return. Preferring to get it over with instead of waiting to pick up the photos hours later, I then went to the nearest Walgreens, which to be honest I had intentionally avoided because I think Walgreens is, I think, the largest pharmacy, and I like to support the underdog. In this case, however, Walgreens was by far the BEST. By far. And here's why: First, Walgreens had an employee in photo. And he was helpful. Plus, Walgreens had a call button in photo in case anybody needed assistance. Finally, my photo was taken, edited, printed, and purchased in a matter of 10 minutes. THANK YOU, Walgreens. The slowest and most confused staff I've ever experienced at a Walgreens. I moved down here from SF Bay Area, where Walgreens is a reliable institution. I've been using them for 20 years, but my time is too precious to have to come back more than once to get a single prescription. In fact, as I was waiting a half hour for a refill there just now, another frustrated customer told me she loves the CVS across the street and this was her first time here for a promo drug not offered at CVS. Worst pharmacy ever. I have called a total of five times to get a prescription filled and still don't have the medications I need yet. The first time I called I was put on hold for 15 minutes and then hung up on. The second time I also waited 15 minutes and finally got a hold of someone who took my information to transfer a prescription and said I'd hear from them soon. Two hours later when I hadn't heard anything, I called back to once again be put on hold for another 15 minutes. I was told the pharmacist would "call me right back." An hour later when I still hadn't heard anything I called back and reiterated that I needed my medication that night. I was again put on hold and told that they would call me right back. Still waiting another hour later and he pharmacy is closing soon. I can't believe how bad their customer service is. If I could give them zero stars I would. read more

This particular Walgreens has a lot of clearance stuff like Woodbridge high school merchandise, as well as normal items. They are marked as clearance with a price tag on the shelf. The staff was very nice. After all that time of talking about whether a coupon was accepted properly or not I can finally talk about it here since this time the coupon they had available on the Irvine Company website received hassle and it wasn't immediately accepted and it took too long to see if it was so we didn't use it. This never occurred with the Woodbury one back when they used to have Irvine Company coupon discounts on general merchandise. Oye! Just go to CVS!!! They constantly advertise sale prices, but once you get to the register it is a different story-- false advertising. This happens each time I go there or I should say used to go there! The last few times at the pharmacy has been a disaster. Pharmacy horrible. A lot of turnover with pharmacists and techs. There was a shortage of my medication and this pharmacy had it in stock but the pharmacist an Asian woman that seemed new stated she would only fill it one day early even though all other pharmacies fill it 2-3 Days early. They are grossly understaffed, they do not follow through, everything takes forever and they have put me on hold 3 separate times for so long that their system has hung up on me. When it comes to customer service they are the absolute worst. Their manager does not know the first thing about customer service. I bought two Macy's gift cards for $200. They did not upload the money on the cards. The situation caused so much embarrassment to me when my friends told me that they were unable to use the gift cards. I have been trying to resolve this issue for the past six weeks now. When I call to get an update I am put on hold for thirty to forty minutes at a time and the manager never picks up the phone.The manager has made no attempt to resolve this issue. When I called to fallow up, the guy I spoke on the phone saying they haven't received any prescription from my doctor, so I follow up with my son dr. To Confirmed medication to sent to right Walgreens pharmacy. After 5 min, pharmacy call and saying that they do received the request medication refill but the Medication not available so they have to order. I informed the medication will be ready by the next day.. the day went by no phone call nor fallow up from pharmacy.. I called the pharmacy today and I was asking what going on. I had a script for a prescription. Took it to the pharmacy. They said come back in 20 mins. Came back, they said they were waiting on the Dr and to check back tomorrow. Tomorrow comes, they say they are still waiting on verification. I called my doctor, he said no one called and they shouldn't need to anyway. I basically had to do everything for them except put my pills in the F-ng bottle. read more

This was my first time ever going to a wall greens in my life. There's a reason they don't have many of these in Irvine. This place is trash, on par with stater brothers, 1 step above good will. I just moved to the area and have been to many Walgreens all over the country and by far this is my favorite. Is it the newest store? No. Is it open 24 hours? No. However, there are a lot of upsides. This is a larger store, so the makeup selection is a LOT bigger than most Walgreens. The store itself is very organized and easy to navigate. The most outstanding thing about this store, however, is the staff. Every time I saw a staff member they greeted me and asked if I needed anything and were very helpful. I had picked up a prescription yesterday at this location and had to pick up another today. The pharmacist named Jennifer remembered my name and truly seem to care about making sure I had everything I needed. 10/10 would recommend this Walgreens. read more

the most UNPROFESSIONAL RACIST AND RUDE ASIAN PHARMACIST. I checked in to pick up my prescription which I was told would be ready in 30 minutes. After 40 minutes I checked back in and nothing was done and was told they would work on it. Another 20 minutes pass and the pharmacist hands me my prescription and states that he cannot fill it without an explanation why. I tell him that I have filled it there plenty of times and he cuts me off swings the prescription closer to my face and says to me THAT WAS A MISTAKE and dismisses me without any explanation. What a waste of my afternoon and what a lack of respect and customer service. It is embarrassing that this pharmacist is a representative of your facility and the face you deal with when picking up a prescription that you have been filling there for many months. I will be filing a complaint with walgreens corporate and hope that this is not the type of employees you pride yourself in hiring. This took place today, 8/20/21 at 3pm. read more

I have always used Walgreens and just moved to the area, so I started to use this location. This location has made multiple mistakes with my past 2 orders that have caused me to have to go back to the doctor and obtain new copies of my prescriptions. They have made up several excuses as to why they don't have my medication, despite the website saying it's ready, and they are not knowledgeable on the medications that they are filling. The staff told me that my prescription for an antibiotic was actually for an over the counter medication and actually sent me to a CVS to buy it, only for me to find out that the Walgreens staff had misinformed me and it was indeed a prescription medication. They are also understaffed, causing the line to be 10+ people long, and they move very slowly once it's your turn. It takes them 15+ minutes just to check you out when your prescription is finally ready. I will not be using Walgreens moving forward and as the Walgreens employee even suggested to me, I will be switching to the CVS around here instead. read more

Just went there today to get the COVID vaccine, awful organization, awful customer service. I'm regretting it to haven't registered at another location. The check in table is in the middle of the store, even if you have an appointment you still need to fill out more paperwork, okay no biggie, the chaos starts when you need to bring this paperwork to the pharmacist, I went today at 2:30 pm a female pharmacist, Asian girl, takes my paperwork, asks for insurance card and paperwork she literally looked like she had no idea what she needed to do from the beginning then she just started to make things difficult and is taking a lot of time to complete the registration when I asked if there was an issue she blamed it on the computer, okay no problem. More than 5-10 minutes went by just standing there while other people that were after me were already finished with all the paperwork....oh well, she then asked me to moved to a different window, she asked me at least 5 or 6 times the SAME questions, date of birth, address etc EVERYTHING is on the insurance card! I asked her if she needed my ID, said no, okay more than 15 minutes have passed by.....and she asks for my ID then she's like "I cannot find you under that date of birth, do you have another DOB" omg are you serious!? Is this a joke?? How many DOB can a person has, so stupid! She kept saying for another 5 minutes that she cannot find me, starts asking for my husband information since he's the primary, SAME thing.....She cannot find him. I need to say that we have NEVER had any issue with our insurance information, I had to asked my husband to come to meet me over there and same thing, tons of questions!!! She's asked me, him, both us about our relationship and if we were married? Omg.....unbelievable!! By this time a good 30 something minutes have passed by and I have lost patience when I confronted her about why she kept asking the same questions over and over again she gets mad and stated that she's only "verifying" okay well she had verified many times already so unless she's mentally incapable or she just doesn't know how to do her job then she shouldn't be asking over and over again, she made me feel like I was being interrogated and like I had some bogus insurance card, very very rude and awful customer service then the minute we complained MAGIC she was able to "verified" everything she needed....what she does next is just beyond....she literally threw my ID and my insurance card and barked "go back to the check in table" then just turned around...wow I had wasted a lot of time with her so she wasn't worth it to waste any other minute with her, she's just not worthy and like I said might even probably have mental problems so I actually feel sorry for her. So young and so stupid.....I wished I should have checked out with the other pharmacist, an older guy. Then, backed to the check in table and it's a mess the guy on the table first told us to get back to the same line while I see that there's another line already, we clearly told him that we had completed the check in and he annoyingly asked us to get back to the same line just to when I was about to be next he tells me that I needed to be ON the OTHER line.....I'm really out of words, I only stayed because I had already gone through ALL the hassle and just wanted to be over it. This is the only Walgreens in Irvine. Why? Because Irvine doesn't like cheap superstores in its city. But anyways, this Walgreens sucks. I walked in the other day to get a hair mask. I asked the lady where I can find the brand I want and she pointed to the hair product aisle... What the hell... Did she think I didn't know where to find hair product. I found the brand I wanted. I went to the cashier and the same woman ran me up. She asked if I wanted to sign up for a membership. I asked if it costed me anything. She said no. I said ok ill sign up. Then she glared at me and rudely asked me, "are you even 18?" ... Wtf If i didn't look 18, why wud u ask me to sign up? Everyone that works here seems like they hate their job. I was in line behind their pharmacist one time, she and the cashier were talking about how horrible their life is and how horrible their job was... How depressing. I get pissed every time I come here, but this is the only place in Irvine that sells hair products I use. If you're not lazy like me, I recommend you to go to Wal-Mart or another Walgreens in another city. read more

A large variety of restaurants to go and enjoy a meal? Check. Cleanliness? Yep. A nice place to live and to raise a family? Definitely. A great place to go shopping? For the most part. Give credit where credit is due: Irvine is a great city. And though it comes damned close, it isn't perfect. And this Walgreens is (so far) the one proverbial black fly in your Chardonnay. Isn't it ironic...don't you think? Anyway, this location proves Irvine is big on the big picture, but small when it comes to the nitty-gritty details. And convenience? Whose convenience? The store's or the customers' convenience? This Walgreens is absolutely the laziest convenience store I've ever been to (let alone in this area as it opens at 8). And shopping at it doesn't yield anymore positive results as the store seems to be 'yucky' (Anita L. says it best in her review when she says "the store's layout is chaotic and it looks and feels really messy"). Customer service is not one of its best suits, with no one manning the cash register at several intervals. It just seems so dead and out of place. Yet, considering it's located in Irvine, I could feel the inner struggle of employees who probably say to themselves "WHY ME?" while attending to customers. I give it 2 stars though because Walgreens needs to have representation here in this area, and perhaps because it is a Walgreen in Irvine, it automatically precedes Walgreens stores located in otherwise very undesirable locations, say south Stockton (or all of the Detroit area)? Wow. I get that pharmacies are faced with being the last line of defense against drug abuse, I do. But I have an ongoing physical issue that required pain management. This Walgreens in its ultimate wisdom has decided my primary care physician is not acceptable for long term pain management. This is an office that works as both an urgent care and primary facility. I understand that at first glance it looks like an urgent care, but with lack of research they have made the decision point blank. Trust me I would rather not be on anything at all, but when a certified Doctor sees this as the best course of action until further procedures can be done, who are they to play doctor. If I were showing up with perceptions from different doctors or something like that I would agree it would be very questionable. I would understand the questioning as well as possibly refusing to fill. That to me sounds like someone just trying to score. But from the same Doctor each time does that not sound like long term care and maybe there is something to this. How in the world do you make this arbitrary decision. Well you can't fight the system so why try, but at minimum I can let others know how they work. The pharmacist even made it a point that this was for this location only. Again if this was Walgreens has a hole agree or disagree you it would be a corporate mandate. But for it to be a random decision wow. We go to the Oak Creek Walgreens for a few prescriptions, tonight was the first time that both the pharmacist (not sure his name) and Jason that (checked us out at the front register were totally engaging and awesome. This comment is for pharmacy my husband had bad ear infection he had rx for antibiotics and pain med only 10 tablets of norco 5-325mg he went to pharmacy to fill his rx the pharmacist treat him so bad and throw the rx back to him he said he will not fill it after writing wrong address on rx with out even asking the address and for his ear drop they said they will not send the prior authorization form to his Dr the pharmacist was so mean and rude and the tech was so uneducated and unprofessional even when the store manager came over she did not apologize either the pharmacist told him go some where else for antibiotic and 10 tablets of pain med they refused him never go back there and shop there at all . This location is very nice and clean, and since I pass by it for work, I tend to come and get some necessities whenever I have the time. Whether it's toiletries, snacks, toothpaste or even for the pharmacy, they have everything and its actually fair-priced. Look out for the weekly specials in their flyer, especially if some of your regular items you shop for are on sale via coupons, you will save money. Always a plus! read more

Our local Walgreens is poorly managed with respect to pharmacy dept. I use the Walgreens app to submit refills and have at best a 50/50 chance of it working. When standing at counter, it is not unusual to be ignored for several minutes while the staff goes about their way oblivious to the waiting customer. I do, however, get to listen to the erudite conversation regarding the effect of a full moon. I wish I had another option in choosing a pharmacy but alas, I don't. read more

I like this Walgreens store because it has plenty of parking, it's generally pretty clean, and it's well-stocked is in the items that I usually need in the first aid section, the cosmetics and skincare sections, and for general drugstore knickknacks. The employees here are also pretty friendly and were really helpful to me in several occasions when I needed help looking for items and well as when I had troubles in the checkout process. The main issue here is that there just aren't enough employees to help you when you're looking for help! It sometimes feels like the only two people working here: the pharmacist and the cashier, and it just doesn't seem right... there must be more than that many people working here to run a store of this size! And on the rare occasion when you do find an employee on the sales floor, you're not really guaranteed someone who knows the floor map of the store really well and so you really end up being on your own if you're looking for something that is not name brand and famous. In general however, I'm still a bigger fan of Walgreens than I am of other similar competing drugstores and they do have a pretty good rewards program as well, which I do appreciate. Shopping here requires a small amount of patience on behalf of customers but in the end I do think it's worth a stop here if you need anything for your general wellness needs. read more
