Half Boy Platter, Garlic Chili Naan
Michelle T.

This was my first time visiting Wah Jee Wah since they moved from their previous location. Parking in this plaza is especially tough during the weekend dinnertime hour, so plan to arrive early. Our group of 4 opted to split the Half Boy Platter which includes 6 skewers and sauces on the side. We really enjoyed the paneer and grilled mushrooms. The chicken had a nice char without being too strong. Out of all the sauces, we all liked the tikka the most. As a side, we also ordered the Garlic Chili Naan to split. Water is self-serve here and servers are all friendly. Our group lost track of time while chatting over dinner and didn't realize it was past closing, but the owner was kind enough to serve us a bread pudding on the house. As someone who loves floral flavors and spices, this hit the spot with what tasted like cardamom and rose. I look forward to visiting again in the future to try more of their dishes.

Lobster in Coconut Gravy ($35)

3.5 STARS Indian BBQ... Flavorful meats marinated in bold, warming spices with smoky charred edges? LFG! Over the weekend, we were in the area, trying to figure out where to go for dinner. I remember having Wah Jee Wah on my list (#19 on SF Chron's Top 100 in 2025) and they recently reopened in Milpitas (April 2026). Located in a bustling plaza with all Indian businesses, we were worried there was going to be a wait. To our surprise, we were the only diners. M E N U Small, focused menu of chaat, Indian BBQ, and several curries + entree specials (lamb shank, lobster, and pomfret). Beer and wine available. We ordered up front, got a number placard, and sat ourselves. Pay after you're finished. F O O D * Complimentary Papadum Fresh, crispy lentil chips served with cilantro chutney and tamarind chutney. * Indian BBQ: https://tinyurl.com/y7vrt577 - Shrimp Tikka ($14) Firm and tender with a nice bite. It was bland tho, I was expecting more flavor from the yogurt marinade and grill. - Chicken Tandoori ($9) Tender, marinated chicken leg but mild in flavor. - Chicken Tikka Kebob ($13) The marinated boneless dark meat was tender but not juicy as expected. I wish it was more richly spiced and had more char from the grill. - Lamb Chops ($16) Considering all the raving reviews, this was our least fav. While the lamb chops were the most spiced, they were overdone and came off gritty in texture. We received one full chop and two much smaller, mangled ones. * Lobster in Coconut Gravy ($35): https://tinyurl.com/2mhekhrx Steamed lobster tail drenched in a savory coconut gravy - the lobster was delicately sweet with a firm, springy texture while the lightly seasoned gravy complemented the lobster. Served alongside fragrant aged basmati rice. * Garlic Naan ($5) Warm and chewy with a rich, savory garlicky butter flavor. The naan had a pleasant texture but was thinner than usual with minimal puffing and blistering from the tandoor. * Gulab Jamun Bread Pudding (OTH) The owner was testing out a new dessert and graciously brought this on the house. This American and Indian fusion dessert hits! The warm, soft bread pudding with crispy edges, paired perfectly with the rich, milky malai ice cream - great contrasting temperature and texture. The sweetness of the cardamom syrup-soaked gulab jamun was nicely balanced by the bread pudding. As someone that usually finds Indian sweets way too sweet, this was perfect. S E R V I C E Very kind and friendly owner. Since we were the only diners, our entire order promptly arrived. A M B I A N C E Cozy indoor dining area with four tables and a TV (not large group friendly). There's one picnic table in front, and several more in the back parking lot where the grill is. Overall, I never tried Wah Jee Wah during their Hayward days so I don't have a point of comparison. I'm glad I tried their new Milpitas location but I found the spices/seasoning too mild and was hoping for more aggressive smoky char from the grill. As others have mentioned, the prices are steep...that said, Wah Jee Wah is one of the few dedicated Indian BBQ-focused restos in the bay and their entrees and desserts have a creative, elevated touch.

As a desi, this is my favorite barbecue place in the Bay Area. The best part about eating here often transcends the food itself - for me, it's the kind of community they stand for. We've been coming here since they were in Hayward and have always been very impressed by how social the owners are and how hard they work to ensure folks come back, not just for the food but also for the community. The dessert in the pics is a perfect case in point - they didn't have to but they still served it on the house after we told them this was our first visit to their Milpitas location. As a customer, this is the kind of gesture that stays with you. Congratulations to Ron and family on the reopening!

We really missed the old spot that was so close by my house Finally made it again to the Milpitas location. Food never disappoint. Only 4 of us, we ordered like there were 8. Food we ordered: Fish curry is a must try! Butter chicken is back and it's always a hit with all of us. The seekh + bun (like a hotdog) is definitely great for quick bite Half BB platter was lamb chop, chicken tandoori, chicken tikka, and paneer. They were all marinaded and grilled just right! Even as left over was great peanut Masala is something I want almost every Friday The Bread Pudding is perfect finish if you don't want chai on hot summer day but miss the chai! Hospitality there is always friendly!

We drove over an hour to Wah Jee Wah and arrived excited to finally try it. Unfortunately, the experience started off a little underwhelming. There were no other diners when we arrived, and the restaurant is a very tiny, hole-in-the-wall type of space. At one point, there was a noticeable cigarette smell wafting in from the kitchen, although the door was quickly closed. That said, the food was delicious, and the service was attentive and friendly. My biggest hesitation is that the pricing didn't quite match the ambiance or overall dining experience. The food was definitely good, but the prices felt more in line with a higher-end restaurant. I wouldn't have minded the setting as much if this were positioned as a fast-casual spot with corresponding prices. I just wish the space offered more comfortable, spacious, and plush seating to better match the cost. Overall, the food was the highlight, but for us, the price, atmosphere, and overall experience didn't quite come together. I'd love to see the space upgraded because the food is worth coming back for.

Excellent barbecue. Hands down, the best lamb chops I've ever eaten, super tender, falling off the bone and seasoned to perfection. Everything from the grill had that delicious smoky quality with crispy outsides and juicy tender flavorful insides. Tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, lamb seekh and shrimp skewers were all so delicious. The barbecue comes with pickled onions, green chutney and gravy which pairs very well with the bbq meats to balance out the richness. Paneer skewer is the only one that I wasn't too crazy about, but what do you expect? It's a bbq spot so meat is going to be the strong point. Some honorable mentions go to the aloo tikki chaat, mango lassi, chai and the garlickiest garlic naan. *chefs kiss* Service was cool, super casual ambiance, again it's a bbq place so manage those expectations.

Wah Jee Wah Jee Wah. Kya baat hai. Ron is a great Chef. His family has been in hospitality business for generations. He has moved from Hayward to our own Milpitas. I love the grill here . I am a vegetarian so I had the grilled Paneer even though I had a heavy lunch in the afternoon and had decided to skip dinner. I am glad I visited Wah Je Wah. It is an amazing restaurant and I heartily recommend it to you all. Please visit and try for yourselves.

Was excited to come back Wah Jee Wah after the closure in Hayward. Do not get me wrong Wah Jee Wah is creative and unique in the way it presents traditional Indian Food with BBQ. The menu was VERY different from the Hayward location. My review comes as a 3 because while some of the food itself was flavorful, it did not outshine the 25 min wait to be sat and over an hour wait for the food. When it did arrive, we got our Lobster Coconut Curry and Lamb Shank first, and then waited another 20 min for the rest of the food (including Naan) to come out. There was also a mix up with the order which was handled professionally and promptly by staff. Overall, the inside space is a lot smaller, making the wait longer and seems like they might still be working through some of their processes. While I miss the old menu, I do recommend the Lobster Coconut Curry and the Lamb Chops!

Wah Jee Wah has now become a Father's Day tradition for us. My dad, who's very particular about food, said this is one of his favorite restaurants! The new location is even closer to us and the food is still amazing! If you're with a bigger party I highly recommend the big boy platters so you can try a little bit of each skewer! Also upgrade the plain naan to the onion kulcha!!! It's spicy but soooo Bomb! Don't miss out on trying this spot!

Bread pudding

Food was great. And the service was great. Would recommend this place to a friend and will for sure come back. Mac and cheese was great. I tried the chicken and the lamb. Chicken was juicy. Lamb was great. And finally we had the bread pudding. 5 stars. The service was also great the staff made us feel welcomed and treated us like famil

Everything hot and fresh , extreme flavor. Restaurant is small but they have outdoor seating as well. Host was friendly and cooks were amazing! 10/10 we will def be back

Pachi Mirchi Paneer Biryani - was one of my favorites perfectly spiced, flavorful, and the paneer was delicious. Definitely a must-try for paneer and biryani lovers! Kakatiya Kobari Chicken Pulav - was another standout. The coconut flavor combined with the spices and tender chicken made it really different from the usual pulao/biryani options. It's been sitting there for a while, so the wifey and I finally decided to drive down to Milpitas and give this Thali place a try. I'm glad we did because their Thali is probably one of the best we've had, if not the best. FYI Thali is LUNCH only. Here is my take. Food (4.5 stars) +The Combo Thali for around $18 is the way to go. Don't overthink it and don't order anything else. You get a little bit of everything, which is exactly why we like Thali. If there's something you don't like, just give it to your partner. My wife doesn't like lamb, so I ended up with double lamb. Bonus for me! + Lamb curry was probably my favorite. Tender meat with a flavorful curry and it went perfectly with the rice. Since my wife donated hers to me, I had plenty! + Fried fish is also very good. You don't get a huge piece, but with so many other things on the plate, it's enough. That's the beauty of Thali--you get a few bites of everything instead of committing to one giant dish. + Chicken curry was also good. Nothing on the plate really needs to be eaten by itself because everything complements each other. You get savory, spicy, sour and even a little sweet throughout the meal. + There are also the usual Thali sides like dal, sumbar, yogurt, dessert and another sour/soupy dish. Rice sits right in the middle and you basically mix and match your way through the entire plate. + I also really like the papadum. It's that thin crispy Indian cracker that gives you a nice crunchy break between all the curries and softer foods. ~ PRO TIP: The only thing to consider is whether you prefer a Thali or an Indian buffet. At a buffet, you can essentially get many of these same types of dishes and eat as much as you want. With a Thali, you're getting smaller portions of everything. Personally, I like the variety and having everything served together, especially when the combo is only around $18. Service/Ambiance (4.5 stars) + We came during lunch and there was only one other customer while we were there, so service was good and the food came out rather quickly. + The restaurant has some really nice paintings along the walls. Some of the scenery almost looked Mediterranean to me, although I'm assuming they're depicting places somewhere in India. Either way, they add some character to the restaurant. + It's a comfortable, casual place to sit down and enjoy a Thali without much fuss. GET THE COMBO! You get fish, lamb, chicken, rice, dal, sides, dessert and all the little extras that make eating Thali fun. Between the two of us, if one person doesn't like something, the other person probably will. In my case, that strategy resulted in double lamb, so I definitely wasn't complaining. Wifey gives Vande Bharat 4.5 stars and I'm right there with her. For the price, variety and flavors, this is easily one of our favorite Thali meals we've had. Yelp got this recommendation right!

I never got there, but my husband raved about it from business dinners. Our birthday honoree wanted to come here. One of us is vegetarian, another GF and very allergic to solanaceae, and two don't eat fish. Usually Pakistani & eastern Asian cuisine is a good choice. Three of us had masala chai, served in traditional glazed clay cups: I think cardamom was the top note. Ginger's the top note, followed by cardamom when I make it. It was blissful. I have been wanting to try pani puri for a while, but don't think the delicate shells would survive delivery. Mouthgasms ensued from everyone. Next time I'm in an Indian restaurant, I'm getting that, as it was as tasty as it looks. Samosas were ordered to share, and again, we were all happy. Because of the high simple carbs, I don't eat the usual one, but half of one was heavenly. Garlic naan & papad(ums) were ordered. They were the most flavorful papad I've ever tasted: don't know what the additional ingredient was, but I will certainly order that again. I asked our server, who might have been a manager, how many papadums were in an order. The answer was three, but he'd add a fourth. It took us a while to choose entrees, and when we made our order, he looked at each of us, confirmed what we ordered--with no note pad. I was impressed. I had the achari chicken kebab, absolutely wonderful spicing, with plenty of onion strips, nicely browned just short of caramelized. Our vegetarian ordered saag paneer, the honoree had her favorite butter chicken, and the fourth ordered seekh kebab. We usually get a taste of each other's dishes, except the vegetarian, because meat. We were very appreciative and enthusiastic of what we'd ordered. We couldn't have made our enjoyment more clear. For dessert, we ordered an intense Malai (mango) kulfi, gulab jamun (dough balls in a honey sauce), too sweet for me, but still pleasant, and rasmalai, a sweet dough in a milky sauce, spiced with saffron, rosewater, cardamom, and pistachios. We were treated to a plate of jalebi, which resembles funnel cakes, in a honey sauce. I've seen these at a Persian market, but don't know the name. For all we ordered, the bill was modest, about $114. We added an ample tip. This was the absolute best Indian food I've ever had! We had such a lovely time. One thing I wish restaurants would do is to put their full menu online, instead of just popular items for delivery or pick-up. It gives you more incentives to dine in!

Traditional low tables invite you to kick off your shoes and settle onto floor cushions, instantly adding a cozy, almost homestyle feel. What We Ordered * Chicken Mandi - A show-stopping platter of fragrant basmati rice crowned with perfectly roasted chicken. The portion is generous (see photo!) and the spice profile leans savory-warm rather than tongue-scorching, so everyone at the table can dig in. * Mutton Curry - I rarely gamble on mutton when eating out, but this one converted me. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, swimming in a rich, slow-cooked gravy that balanced heat with a gentle hint of clove and cardamom. Absolutely outstanding. Service & Pace There's a sign at the entrance: "This is not fast food. Great taste takes time." Believe it. Dishes are cooked to order, so expect a leisurely wait. The staff checks in just enough to keep you updated, and once the platters hit the table you'll agree the patience tax is totally justified. Pro Tips 1.
