Wagyu on Wheels was at my office and that menu just sounded too good to pass up. First, the burger is good. Great flavors and an all-in-all solid choice. My criticism is that I wanted more beef. The meat-to-bun ratio was a bit off leaving a lot of bready bites. The toppings were fresh and tasty. I got the wowza and the level of heat was nice from the jalapeños. The fries are an interesting "twist" on fries but they're not my favorite. read more

Very disappointed. The menu looking amazing online and the reviews looked decent. No salad mix. The fries looked nothing like the menu and weren't sidewinder fries at all. One of our orders of Parmesan fries had zero Parmesan. Burger wasnt seasoned at all. I paid $13 for a flavorless pile of beef. Oh and my only tomatoes were the tops, who does that? No one serves the part you throw away where the stem goes, no it was not cut out. Spent a lot of money on meh food when I should have gone next door for tacos. read more

I was super excited to try this place especially after seeing them have a steady line of customers at their truck the first hour or so I was at The Fieldhouse at the Crossover. I had also read a few of the most recent reviews which mentioned how great the food was. I should have scrolled further down in the reviews. I ordered 3 kid's cheeseburgers with fries and a Wegular burger with bacon and Parmesan fries. First off, it's pricy for a family of four and everything is a la carte. The food came out quickly and was lukewarm. While the burger itself and the bun were good, they were nothing special. My fries were hard and the Parmesan sauce on the fries is hard to describe other than it was wet, tasted bad and was nothing like Parmesan fries I have enjoyed at other places. The burgers also had varying cooks on them (mine was well done while two of the kids cheeseburgers were closer to medium which I noticed as they were eating it). When I placed my order, I was not asked how I would like them cooked. Overall, this is an experience I will remember for all the wrong reasons and won't repeat. read more

The Wagyu on Wheels food truck sets up outside of my job every other Wednesday! So today is Wagyu Wednesday! :) The menu is easy breezy! The line goes quickly, they had several people working in the truck today so that helps speed up the service. I posted a pic of their story, it is on the menu. Today, I ordered the Wegular burger and oh my cow... it was so flippin good! Cheesy goodness in every scrumptious bite! The bread is sweet goodness in your mouth! I'd give this burger 10 stars if I could. I also recommend the sweet potato fries, they were crispy and come with a house dipping sauce that was yummy. The meat was good. That's it though. Barnyard: There was 1 piece of bacon cut into 4 pieces and placed on top. I got 1 thin slice of tomato that disappeared under all the lettuce. The burger was supposed to have cheese but there was a brushing of Gouda on the burger. The ratio of bun to burger was way off. A quarter of the bun was left without meat. Mayo, mustard, and ketchup was in packets left in the sun. Fries: The fries were pre-cooked and sitting in one of those warmers you see at gas stations. They were not good at all. Sauces: These are now $1 each. The website has them as $.50. The ketchup tasted exactly like you would get from any bottle. The ranches were warm and not special. Chicken Tenders: These were good! Hot and crispy with good seasoning. None of the workers wore masks. It was kind of a bummer. We were looking for a great burger to eat outside. Hopefully you may have a better experience. read more

Beyond that, many of the lower star reviews involve Uber drivers or people that never actually ate here but were frustrated with the telephone orders. The truck came by my office for lunch. The burger was perfect from the first bite. Moist, juicy, and flavorful. The only sides available were sidewinder fries with dipping sauces (chipotle ailoi, spicy ketchup, ranch, and jalapeño) which I didn't bother getting because I don't do spicy. I've been looking for a good burger in Austin for years. I've tried many of the burgers that are raved about all over the internet, but none of them have come close to delivering compared to the hype. Wagyu on Wheels had major hype, so I have desperately been waiting for this food truck to come within proximity of my workplace. I waited for months, and when I finally saw that it should be nearby this week, and I set a reminder on my phone. I ordered the Wegular in an effort to simply taste the meat and assess the general quality before ordering burgers with all kinds of toppings (disguises) on them. I asked if I was allowed to have it cooked to order, and they said yes. I asked for it to be cooked medium-rare and they were really excited because they felt that's the way it should be cooked! (They actually joked that they would have scoffed if I asked for it well-done) I don't want to know what their version of well-done would have been, because this thing was way overcooked, dry, tough, and tasteless. I was tempted to bring it back up, but a really long line had started to form. (There was no line when I ordered) If you look at their website, they have a long description and images of the perfect marbling, but there seems to be a complete absence of fat in these burgers. I have no idea how this place is so highly rated. Furthermore, the only place to actually review these guys is on Yelp. You could write them a "post" on Facebook, but they'll certainly take it down. The fries are also very dry. Even with the Cowboy Tears signature sauce they are still quite pedestrian. Cute name for a sauce, but also rather plain tasting--nothing special. They seem like nice people, and they're doing what they love, but there is absolutely nothing behind their high scores and great reviews. read more

Do Not Order a Veggie Burger! I ordered one yesterday from the Wagyu on Wheels food truck at my workplace and it is was like no other veggie burger I have ever seen. It was deep fried and did not resemble or taste like a veggie burger. I considered throwing it in the trash as I showed it to a couple of other people, who also couldn't identify what it was. Honestly, my best guess is it was a very thin, frozen hash brown potato patty. In addition, I ordered the guacamole on my sandwich, which I didn't get. I was charged a total of $10.77 and what I got was not worth half that amount. The lettuce, onion, and tomato were fresh though, but the bun was cheap white bread. By the way, this business asks for its tip up front when one initially pays, which I don't care for either but make your own decision on that. On the plus side, the staff was pleasant and I don't blame them. read more

Oh dear heavens. I had such a delicious meal today from the wonderful Wagyu. Today, they were at The Crossings at Lakeline. It wasn't a heavyweight burger which was awesome for returning to work full but not passing out! The spicy brown mustard was, I believe, the most magical part. It combined so well with the beef, I was in foodie bliss! The twirly fries were nicely cooked, they didn't overload me, and had a nice light seasoning! Next time, I hope to try out the Cowboy's Tears sauce! I highly recommend. read more

I've had this trailer a couple of times now for lunch when it shows up outside my office. The fixin's on the burgers are good. Buttered buns, good bacon, good cheese. Now for the disappointment. Both times that I've eaten here, the burger patty was dried out. By dryness and flavor I'd guess that the burgers had been pre cooked both times. Maybe they have different practices at different times, locations, or crew. But for $10, the burger is not juicy. It is dry and tough and old. Why use Wagyu if you are going to treat it like that? Cook that burger to order. Every coworker that has eaten there has similar experiences. Nice toppings and bun, dry dead patty. Not good for the price. read more

One Word: Amazing! While chilling at Draughthouse, I noticed this Wagyu On Wheels Food Truck pull up. Despite the free Brats, hot links offered by the bar, my family and I HAD to try this burger! After meeting Kristian & hearing her start-up story I was intrigued. She and her husband started this food truck about 5 months ago and after the experience I just had, I am certain this will be around for the long haul! We decided to go with the Barnyard Burger which was exquisite. I'm not sure if it was the perfectly cooked wagyu or the sweet bun or the fresh veggies, but it was outstanding. Not kidding - Top 5 burger we've had! But wait... there's more! The fries (can't speak to the sweet fries) might be within the Top 2 French fry experience we've had. Perfectly seasoned and fried plus they offered a side of some seasoned fry sauce! This meal was reasonably priced and worth every penny... despite the other free meal less than 15 feet away.
