Leaving this review for Ava & Rouye, who provided me with amazing service. My pregnant wife was craving pancakes, so I got sent on a little side quest to satisfy them. Ava took my order and helped Rouye get it ready to go. Both were very pleasant, funny, and quick. We don't thank the folks enough who prepare our food to satisfy our cravings. The place was spotless, and after not visiting a Waffle House in years, this visit alone has me sold on going back. Everything was prepared to perfection and wifey really enjoyed the food! This was actually one of the cleaner Waffle Houses I've been to! It was rather empty with some quiet lone eaters inside. Our food was great and the only complaint was that we were a bit chilly. The waiter was kind and let us know he couldn't adjust the temperature for us. read more

Our waitress who seemed to be in charge was rude and acted like we were inconveniencing her. The food was good, but my husband ordered raisin toast and she gave him wheat. I've been Waffle House for years, Lived in Atlanta and brought blt's to my office 3 days a week for breakfast. I know what a Waffle House should be. It's the Ritz, I get it, and actually my steak and eggs was the best cut of meat I've had here in a while. What's intolerable is the environment, and it's the employees playing rock music ant 75-80 decibels when your trying to eat. It's the worst way to eat food. I'm not in a club, and I'm not watching the cook air drums in all this noise while I'm trying to eat. This is management allowing this. We're coming here to eat and pleasantly enough to digest our meal. Never been ever in a Waffle House so poorly managed . Corporately they are typically following a plan...not here. This was supposed to be our first time at Waffle House with my wife, but it turned into a huge disappointment. We waited over 30 minutes and never got a clean table. 2am, 3am, 11am...or even 3pm...Waffle House is amazing! Even when it's busy, wait time is usually 5-10min. I love it so much here, I could live here. The staff is always friendly...they may mess up orders sometimes but hey, for price vs quality...who cares?! I usually get the hash browns (omg the hashbrowns!) smothered & covered, plus two sunny side up eggs. I mean you just can't go wrong with what you order here. It's a tradition for our Solar Car racing team to eat at Waffle House during competition. Hadn't been to a Waffle House in decades, and was - not enthusiastic. I tried to change the venue for our qualifying celebration, but dinner was to be at Waffle House. Picture it: 4 adults and 8 teenagers descend on this quiet, unsuspecting little Cafe. Had I been Marti (our phenomenal server), I'd have headed out the door. One of the extremely skilled cooks wondered why he had chosen this night to come in early. I was wrong to question team wisdom. The food was great (GREAT!), and the service outstanding. Every employee was cheerful and skilled, and the meal I dreaded ended up being a highlight of the trip. True for other Waffle Houses? Had to wait quite a get a table on a Saturday morning at 10am but the manager was nice and asked if I needed coffee while waiting outside. My server Robbie was real sweet and flexible with our specific food orders. Food came out In a timely order and tasted great! Now I'm all pumped up for a full day thanks to my awesome breakfast! We went to the Waffle House off 114 this afternoon for a late breakfast - around 1:45 pm. We walked in and there were plenty of tables available but, they were all dirty. We waited 15 minutes for one of the tables to be cleared so that we could sit down. The staff was aware that we were waiting but, nothing was cleared. I frequent a lot of waffle houses and a lot of my friends don't like the set up of feeling like you are sitting in the kitchen however I love Waffle House . . . Just not this one. We walked in and there were plenty of employees and plenty of dirty tables. After finding a spot and waiting for a server, I had to request the $5 menu (why are we hiding these behind the counter?). We placed our drink & our food order and the wait began. My drink was horrible (1/2 tea, 1/2 lemonade) so I politely asked to remove that from the ticket and just have water. I had a child from the other booth that reached over and was beating our seat and messing with the window and on the other side there was a child who was screaming for his food (I wanted to scream that I wanted my food too!). After waiting our food was brought out and the server was quick to let me know that my grits was put in the wrong bowl so I got more than I should have. The server didn't ask how I wanted my eggs cooked so I guess fried is the way the cook wanted me to have them, I had a few burnt sausage crumbled on top and my grits were swimming in butter. I had to wait on my waffle in which I could hear the waffle maker beeping but no one was moving to get it. Needless to say that when my waffle was finally brought to me it was browner than usual. With my meal I was suppose to get a biscuit but I didn't bother asking as I just wanted to go. The waiter never came by to ask how everything was, did we need anything, would we like a refill so I guess he wasn't worried to much about getting a tip that day. I love Waffle House . . . Have been to many Waffle House restaurants in many different states. You go because they are consistent and you know what to expect. Decided to hit the Roanoke location this morning for a comfort food breakfast. While the food was as expected, the restaurant wasn't very clean and some of the staff was heavily pierced. While I am all for freedom of expression, it's very off putting when you are ordering food. My biggest concern was the overall lack of cleanliness. I'll eat at Waffle House again, I'll just choose a different location next time. read more

We went in around 11 pm and the restaurant was empty except one server and a guy who looked high and was passed out in the corner (I thought he was a homeless guy who later ended up being the cook. He woke up to reluctantly cook our meal for 5 min before passing back out in the corner ). Pretty sure they served us spoiled bacon because we were both extremely sick and couldn't eat or drink anything for about 30 hours. What was even worse than the terrible service and quality was that when I contacted customer care and told them what happened they didn't give me a refund or even a RESPONSE. We have visited these iconic hash houses in many locations all across the SE USA. There are none in San Antonio. Our server was Katie and she was cheerful and a good WH representative. The coffee is standard across the company, it's plain old regular coffee. The cheese eggs were good as were the "covered" hash browns. The cook here doesn't know how to scatter. The Grits were not so good. They were watery, with lumps and had little flavor. This is not acceptable at a WH. Arriving early on a weekend will help with getting good service. It smells like an old run down diner with that kind of smell - someone even smoking next to me with me coughing about it. Gross. We've eaten at this location once and walked out a second time. The first time we took our nieces for a late breakfast a few weeks back. We crammed into a booth and were waited on immediately. We all got pancakes, eggs, and bacon. All of our food was meh. Basically we could have made this food at home and it would have tasted the same...except we wouldn't have spent $40. I will say that the lady that waited on us was friendly and attentive. I will also say that it is disgusting to sit where you can see the cook space and watch them slosh buckets of soapy water onto the floor to clean. There just has to be a better way. I can't see how this place is truly sanitary. The second time it was just my husband and myself and we were wanting pancakes. The Original Pancake House is about twenty minutes from this location so we decided to give WH another go figuring that at least it will be cheaper than the last visit with only two of us. So we walk in and find a booth to sit in. As we are walking our shoes are literally sticking to the floor. Then when we sit down it immediately smells like smoke. Turns out we were in the smoking section. Hi, the whole restaurant is smaller than a McDonald's and it is all open. How can you have designated smoking section?THE ENTIRE PLACE IS A SMOKING SECTION. So we left and drove to The Original Pancake House. I get that this place is supposed to be a dive but this was just gross. read more

I've eaten at this location several times. Keep in mind it has the atmosphere of a "greasy spoon" but it's never been greasy when I was there. I've had the breakfasts with raisin toast & my all-time favorite, hash browns scattered all the way (but no jalapeños please). The food has always been superb and the staff friendly. Sure, there's the younger set as wait staff, mostly but not all, and they've been very polite and friendly too. I would suggest to management that ANY staff with extreme facial piercings be made to take them out while they're on duty (septum, lip). I used to smoke (almost 1 year tobacco free) yet smoking on the other side has not bothered me. As a BIG plus, they do allow vaping (please, fellow vapers, NO CLOUD CHASING. We want to keep this PRIVILEGE). Overall, I give 5 stars because the Waffle House is what it is. No apologies. Clean, friendly and awesome food! read more
