This place is very unreliable about even being open. I don't think any Waffle House in Gainesville is open after 11 or 1130 at night anymore except for very expensive takeout. So I went there once when this happened, the next time I went there around noon and they told me they were only doing takeout, but there were other people seated inside so I don't know what was going on, and the last time I went there they were closed at about 1 o'clock in the afternoon for "cleaning ". I give up on this place. I'm not trying to go to this location again. read more

The food was amazing cooked to order with no issues at all. The service was totally amazing and this was possible because of the young lady by the name of TMAC and her Cook, who were the only two people in the building. Even though it was only the two of them they had the most amazing customer service ever. I watched TMAC work her way to each table to make sure that every customer was satisfied and got what they needed. No cups were empty at any time. No one had to ask for anything cause she had it covered. When I visit Gainesville again this is the Waffle House I'll be going to ambience is the same as usual but I'm there for the Customer Service and they know the meaning of that. Two mornings in a row same order and same result - fantastic! I was in early when shift was changing from 3rd to 1st, and both days a guy named Burger was the busiest worker in the room. Gotta love Waffle House very early on a Saturday morning! I got up super early for work and had a break so decided to walk over from the nearby hotel and get some grits and an egg. Everyone at Waffle House always seems to be in a good mood! The kitchen is open and you can see the folks helping customers and each other. Somehow, the cooks keep all the orders, delivered verbally, straight. There are a zillion ways to prepare southern breakfast and I think Waffle House offers them all! It's hard to go wrong at Waffle House. This location was busy on a late Saturday morning when I came with my friend for breakfast, so we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Our server was this sweet little old lady who was attentive, friendly, and kept our coffee mugs filled. I ordered the All-Star Breakfast which is a massive amount of food: hashbrowns, your choice of eggs, toast, choice of meat, and a waffle. I really shouldn't have but I ate it all. If you place a "To Go" order you will find on your receipt a "service fee" and a "To Go" charge, both being 10% of your total bill . These "fees" can't be explained by the staff and they only say it's required by WH!?! Then you're given the bill so you can add a tip. After paying these ridiculous fees that cannot be explained. My To Go order of $36.00 gets $7.20 added to it for these BS FEES and suddenly is now $43..20! Perfect place to have great service, a delicious breakfast, for a low price. Honestly, they do have the best waffles. I like thin ones with butter and syrup. I don't like those thick fluffy ones. This Waffle House always hits right. The hash browns here are always done right by the guy who works the grill. I am a scattered extra well done, smothered, covered, chunked fan. If you don't know the WH lingo that means extra crispy with diced ham, grilled onion, and American cheese. I go for the 2 egg breakfast and order my HBs this way with eggs over light and basically eat it like a hash brown bowl. I go for raisin toast with apple butter since I douse my meal in Tabasco because it just doesn't feel right without a kick of hot for me so the sweet toast cools it down and gets you ready for that after meal nap. Hubs goes for a plain waffle, limp bacon, and a side of plain hashbrowns. Everyone who works at this location is always accommodating and works hard! Would definitely recommend. The food is undercooked except the grits, which are so thick and gummy that they aren't edible. The coffee is un drinkable. It's like they poured it before it finished brewing. Our server was not very nice at all. It wouldn't kill the cook to look or act like he actually likes his job. We were greeted by the nicest hostess (didn't get her name but she had beautiful purple hair) with a smile. Waited for our table and was seated in less than 10 minutes. Completely expected for a Sunday morning. Once seated we sat for over 10 minutes and the hostess noticed we had not been greeted by our waitress or served. She tried to help but was given every excuse by the waitress for our table. She was busy packaging to go orders and had lots to do. Needless to say we left. What makes it even worse is the two other waitresses who walked by us numerous times taking care of new diners didn't pitch in and help out. The food was good, though the waitresses were disorganized and three different ones came to our table attempting to take our order. We went on a Sunday morning towards noon and the place was so packed that people were screaming at each other across the table to be heard. We got our food, but it was missing my main dish. The waitress apologized and comped me with some free orange juice. I got toast and orange juice, SO got Texas bacon melt and coffee and our bill was $20. Not worth it.
