I love Bolay! Driving through on I-75, we hit the jackpot! I didn't realize all food was gluten free at first, which is a major treat for four out of five of our group. The regular bowl is relatively inexpensive at $10.95 but so filling as to allow for leftovers. The teriyaki chicken, rice, broccoli, feta and toasted almonds, and mushrooms were a treat with the creamy garlic sauce. I also sampled the turmeric ginger sauce with steak, sweet potato noodles and forbidden rice. All fantastic! You cannot make a mistake ordering. Well we haven't been back to Bolays in a while so we decided to give it another try. We stopped coming when their menu changed. The used to serve pork tenderloin which was like nothing at any other restaurant. They replace with a pulled pork, then no pork at all. When that was taken off the menu we sort of gravitated towards other options. Coming back, there were even more changes to the menu. The usual favorites are still here, mine being the warm sweet potato noodles. My wife got the pesto noodles but they were served cold (a bit of a shock). My regular bowl was overflowing with noodles and roasted broccoli. Both good I got teriyaki chicken as my protein, it was just ok, the base and veggies made the dish. The toppings and sauce completed the bowl. It was good. My wife got the roasted chicken thigh (bone in). That was delicious. Surprisingly good. Service was outstanding, they have a great crew here. That's a plus over most fast food chains. So a few years (yes years) removed from eating here last, I'd say they're still pretty good. Good healthy option, decent price. Best bowl you'll find! They have a pretty straight forward set of ingredients that are very elevated. I built a bowl with the rice noodles (japchae style is what they actually are) and the kale salad, threw on some roasted broccoli, beautiful cherry tomatoes, almonds, cilantro, and tofu. I was so impressed with the protein portion - normally I have to add more. The tofu was perfectly chewy but not overcooked. This spot is definitely my new go to! The ingredients were fresh but they lacked tuna. On the website it showed it for an up charge but it wasn't available. They had salmon so I opted for it. Interesting take on the poke bowl but one I am not a particular dan of. Ian old and don't do change well. Bummed out not to be able to get tuna. The rest of it was good just dry salmon versus tuna the tuna wins. The drinks looked pretty tasty. I had a bottle juice and water and then turned the corner and there were the other juices and teas I had seen on line. My bad for not scoping things out better. read more

I'm never disappointed but one time I did notice the terriyaki chicken was a little on the chewy cartilage texture side. I get the regular bowl but if I want leftovers for the next day I get the large bowl. I get the sweet potato noodles, broccoli and alternate depending on what craving with black rice or the kale salad. My protein is the teriyaki chicken but I would like to try the garlic pepper steak it's just that it never looks appetizing to me (I love Fresh Kitchen's steak personally) and not sure if the $3 up charge is worth it portion wise. For my toppings I get red onions, cilantro and Parmesan cheese. The Creamy garlic & herb sauce is a must and I always get extra. I've frequented this place many times and quality is great across the board. Service is quick and everything is always great here. For the amount that you pay you can relax and know that you are eating a fibrous lunch or dinner with a good protein. I probably come here every 3-6 months since I don't eat out as much as I used to but this is deff a go to for me. read more

The main thing I personally like about Bolay is that everything is gluten free. There are many items that can be put in your bowl but I chose pesto noodles and sweet potato noodles, added sauteed brussell sprouts and lemon chicken. Topped it with feta and slivered almonds. I've been here on a couple of occasions and have enjoyed it each time. Bolay is a fast casual restaurant set up assembly style where they build your bowl according to your specifications. They have tons of healthy options and everything is fresh and tasty. I've dined in and taken food out and it's great either way. The dining room is basic but clean and comfortable. They also pack the bowls up nicely to go, which makes grab and go a great option. Most recently I got a bowl with rice, garlic mushrooms, sweet potatoes, avocado, tofu, cilantro, goat cheese, and garlic sauce. It was a delight! They have two bowl sizes and I've gotten both the large and regular (the regular is plenty big!). The service is lovely! Get to it! read more

We enjoyed our bowls and how customizable you make your bowl. I ordered the regular bowl and did one base, two veggies, one protein, toppings, and one sauce. I picked the kale for my base, broccoli and beans for my veggies, red onions and feta for my toppings, tofu for my protein, and ginger the rice sauce for my sauce. The flavors were great and everything tasted fresh. The bowl was a good size and I even took home leftovers. My only tip is that there should be more toppings put on the bowl. I did not get a lot of Feta cheese or onions on my bowl. It would be nice if another scoop was added. Other than that everything was good! The staff was friendly and it was nice to see the full range of options in which to build my bowl. Despite being able to pile your bowl as high as you want with proteins, noodles, and other veggies, Bolay always feels like it's fresh and that I'm eating healthy. Oh my goodness! What an AMAZING experience. When I walked in, I was greeted by a man who appeared to be the manager. I informed him that I have allergies and that I'm gluten free, dairy free, and others. Based on previous Yelp reviews, I knew that Bolay was completely gluten free but he went over and above, explaining what each item had in it or on it, and I was able to fully enjoy my first meal out after beginning my journey towards healing. The food was delicious and safe for me to eat. My friend told me that her meal was just as delicious and she couldn't wait to bring her dad back! Bolay used to be one of my favorite spots in Gainesville, unfortunately, not anymore. I ordered take-out here last week via Uber eats and came down with the worst case of food poisoning I have ever experienced. In this day and age where food poisoning symptoms overlap with covid-19 symptoms, you can imagine my panic when I came down with these symptoms. After testing negative for covid-19 a few times and speaking with my healthcare provider, we came to the conclusion my dinner at bolay gave me a nasty case of food poisoning that wiped me out for a day. Although the food wasn't bad, I can't look at bolay anymore without thinking of my past food poisoning experience. The small bowl comes with two veggies but i really wanted to try all three so you can paid a dollar something to get another. I would love to go back to try all the other options. Like the forbidden rice !? Crazy. I wasn't crazy about any of the sauces we tried (creamy herb and garlic and spicy Thai) but I'm not a huge sauce person any who! After hearing lots of good things about this lace I finally got a chance to check them out. When I arrived I was taken back by how busy they were which to me is a great sign that the food is good. I enter to find a bright, clean well-organized dining area. I really loved the color palette here. It took me a moment to get the layout of the place but it was an easy process. You simply head down to the counter where you place your order. YOu can choose from house-made bowls or choose to build your own. I went with a build your own. I was able to choose my base from sweet potatoes noodles to rice to spinach. Then you get 2 vegetable options I went with mushrooms and Tuscan Zucchini. Last you choose a protein I went with Terkayi chicken but you can choose bbq chicken, lemon pepper, mojo pork or tofu, and even shrimp. Of meat is not your thing you can add an extra veggie. The final stop was dressing as well as cheese and cilantro. I have to say this place is amazing. The food is fresh, great-tasting, and is much healthier than in some places. Plus serve was quick and friendly. Everyone was super sweet and so helpful. It's great to have this option in Butler plaza. This was my first time and upon entering, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant, i was initially overwhelmed by the menu, but immediately a worker just started asking me questions and let me try a variety of the bases and proteins. She was very knowledgeable about which combinations would be tasty. I eventually settled on a small bowl. Half black rice, half noodles. Brussels sprouts and potatoes, and then the lemon chicken. I also added tomatoes, cilantro, and cheese. You can add avocado for like 1.50 extra. Skip the pesto sauce and go for the spicy Thai sauce! All of the ingredients were clearly fresh and the bowls are reasonably priced. The Brussels sprouts were a bit bland, so I think in the future I'll try the broccoli instead.
