Some might see the big FK sign and think man, that's wildly inappropriate! Luckily it stands for Fresh Kitchen so get your heads out of the gutter. This place tastes like Chipotle if Chipotle visited Flavortown and married a chef that actually gave a sh*t about the quality of their food and sauces and then they had a baby and named it Fresh Kitchen or FK for short. Lots of really excellent bowls here. Can't go wrong with a tender medium rare steak bowl with veggies. Fresh Kitchen is one of my go-to spots for safe dining with Celiac disease. They are 100% dedicated gluten-free (including their baked goods!), and much of their menu is also dairy-free, which is very helpful for my partner with a dairy allergy. Service is always timely and friendly, and I like that there are sit-down, drive-thru, and carry-out options. The food is tasty, but at times a little lukewarm and I do find the options for combinations a bit limited. We have driven by this restaurant many times and since we are both kind of elevating our diets, I figure we would give them a shot. The parking was real easy, walked right in a couple of people ahead of us. told them wI hadn't eaten here before I needed some help with the menu and ordering. We both over did it ordering on our bowls. Definitely had too much food in it and the mixture,. I don't know if there were the kind of foods that would go together well in a bowl. Chicken was good, sweet potatoes are good. I didn't really like the noodles too much. The sauce that I put on top was good. Overall, it's was ok, the music was kinda loud in there. The food is good when you can get it. Since we have a family member in the hospital it is easier for us to place our order online so each dish can be marked with someone's name and we can grab it and go and "Skip the line" like their sign states. However the food on the front line for customers who walk in to order is different than the line in the kitchen where they make the online orders. Therefore they will be out of a specific food item in the kitchen line but they have lots of it in the front line. But they will not go from the kitchen to the front line to fill an online order. This place is on the pricey side and even though it has great sides like the green beans which I absolutely scarfed done within a minute because of how crunchy and perfectly sauced they were and the mashed cauli is just incredible. I paid $15 for a bowl and was left hungry. The portion size was so tiny I was so confused. I also paid an extra $3 for steak and it was a kids sized fist. I can get $3 worth of flank steak (2 to be exact) at Ward's supermarket and made my own sides and have it amount to that and possibly feed myself with less than $15 by buying the rest of the ingredients at Aldi (potato , green beans & broccoli which is what I ordered in my bowl. After cooking I'd probably have leftovers too. Now after a long work day on a Friday that's not want I want to be doing .. cooking up sides and steak just to have a simple bowl. I was truly disappointed and I've come here a couple of times and I've seen that portion size and quality is great even for how pricey they are. This time was different and it confused me. I ate here a couple weeks ago with my friends and we all agreed that it was our favorite bowl place in Gainesville. We loved the ambiance and the color scheme of the eatery. Also really liked the subtle incorporation of gators in the design details. It is really cute and they have a nice outdoor seating area as well. They pride themselves in not using seed oils and canola oil, which is awesome. The use of fresh ingredients with healthy oils definitely impacts the taste in a good way. They offer a variety of bowl sizes, which is really convenient. There bases range from grains, to spinach salads and kale slaws, to sweet potato noodles. They also offer a good selection of roasted vegetables including sweet potatoes, broccoli, mushrooms, etc. For protein, they offer multiple types of chicken and tofu. There is an up charge for the steak and salmon, but it is definitely worth it in my opinion. The steak is seared to perfection with a nice medium rare color. You can also top your bowl with a variety of toppings and get dressing. I loved curating my own bowl to my liking. The bowl was filling and had tons of flavor. As one with food allergies it was so great to have the baked almond chicken, their version of chicken fingers. I'm already trying to figure out how to make this at home. The food was fresh tasting and the veggies delicious; the bases were almost bland without using Sauce. *Extra Sauce cost. Noted: ALL of the EXTRAS and ADD-ONS can make this a very pricy bowl. *Extra Sauce is a missed opportunity for better flavor food and higher star reviews. Fresh Kitchen is a familiar experience to anyone who has eaten at Bolay. It's a typically healthy alternative to other fast casual restaurants. I went one opening day and they were busy! Yet somehow still offered up great service. They gave me suggestions played around with my annoying picture taking and even complimented my outfit lol. The food was good, I think mixing the bowl is the key as eating them one at a time doesn't really make any standout. If I could say one negative it's that the pricing model is too high for me. I think the extras at the end are definitely over priced and sauces costing so much extra is annoying. I'm not sure that Bolay does this and they're probably the most direct competition. The portion sizes felt a little smaller then them as well. I would go back, but only if I was reallyyyy in the mood as I just can't justify that much on a regular basis. read more

Today's experience was very nice. I have an allergy to nightshades and was unsure if I'd be able to make a "complete" bowl. I checked the website for the list of ingredients before I arrived, since I knew my allergy may cause issues. I don't like to make a fuss for my dietary restrictions when eating out because I'm aware of how incredibly difficult this is for every single restaurant to try and accommodate everyone for all their allergies or restrictions. While I found the website full of information, some of the dishes are prepared with ingredients that also have ingredients and those aren't listed (mustard, mayonnaise, steak seasoning, blackening spice, spices). I called and spoke to the manager and asked if she could give me more details, she was incredibly helpful and told me the list of the specifics I was looking for and when I asked for a special accommodation (salmon cooked fresh without blackening spice) she was happy to offer it. And when I arrived and finally ordered, she was right there and anticipated my need. Everyone who worked this shift was very friendly and helpful. My nightstand free order (in case one is curious) Arugula/spinach salad, sweet potatoes, salmon (cooked without spices), cucumber salad, and Holy Kale sauce. Strange combo, but at least I won't have an allergic reaction My husband and I pretty much only eat here when we eat out in Gainesville because we can trust the quality and also I love pink and everything is decorated pink. read more

This is my 2nd review. The first review was not so good as I did not enjoy the food much. This was due to the vinegar/balsamic flavor of their sweet potato noodles overpowering the other flavors. My husband and I went back after management contacted us and explained about the noodles and offer to give us 2 free bowl coupons which we accepted. We went back and used the coupons and this time we found the food to be very flavorful and got almost a full bowl - which was a very good serving. This time I asked the young man serving about the different bases and stated I did not like the balsamic / vinegar taste of the noodles and he recommended several other bases. I picked the coconut ginger rice and the spinach. Both choices were a good decision. Both proteins I chose were very tasty and the vegetables hot and delicious. My husband and I will try Fresh Kitchen at least 1 more time. If the food continues to be as tasty and fresh as last night's we will definitely be a fan and continue to go there. read more

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this gem. I first tried their food in Orlando and on my way back home I had to find another location and luckily this one was right off of I-75. Every single item is seasoned and cooked to perfection! I was leery about getting the steak but it was so tender and flavorful. Knowing that everything is super healthy, antibiotic free and gluten free is what puts this company over the top. I also love the way that the menu varies by location so the options are surprisingly different and equally delicious. We need a location in Tallahassee ASAP. read more

Fresh kitchen is your typical healthy bowl place, and it reminded me a lot of Bolay and Vale food co. I ordered a bowl with sweet potato noodles and mixed spinach, bbq chicken, and green beans. Compared to Bolay's sweet potato noodles, the texture was less chewy, and the noodles were also a cold version instead of a warm serving of noodles. I enjoyed the flavor of the noodles and the bbq chicken, and the spinach was a nice healthy touch.
