I had this restaurant bookmarked for when I visited this area. I stopped in for a bite to eat. Loved that they are 100% gluten free so it made ordering easy. Okay WOW! These fries are INCREDIBLE! While I didn't visit the brick and mortar, I was lucky enough to stumble upon their food truck in Sanford. Inside the food truck, there was a mountain of fresh-cut fries and I instantly knew they would be delicious. I ordered just a plain fry with three different dipping sauces. The fries were hot, crispy yet soft and they had the perfect amount of salt. Not only did they look fresh, but they tasted fresh. It's rare for fries to have a "wow" moment, but these were the best fries I've ever had. The man at the window that took my order was also so nice and patient while I asked him questions. Salted Fry - popular this Halloween season for the huge spider featured out front - has decent foot traffic and I'm convinced it's due to the friendly staff as much as the food. My bacon cheeseburger was good - nothing fancy or special and the lettuce on the bottom of the burger had seen better days - but I did finish it. The burger, called a smash burger, is not what I think about when I think smash burger-what I mean is they are on the thicker side to be smash burgers but they are delicious none the less. Loaded fries- yum. Their ranch is on point and I am a ranch connoisseur. SERVICE: Service was really good. You order at the countertop and you take the table number and sit down. When your food is ready, they will bring it out to you. The manager who I believe was also cooking in the kitchen, came around to every single table throughout our stay there, making sure that everybody was doing OK. When I got the burger, I thought it would've been a lot bigger so I only got a single. I didn't feel as if the burger was big enough and that is why I gave four stars. Even if I had two meat patties in there, it just wasn't big. It was about 3 inches wide perhaps. The flavor was OK, but I still thought it was pretty good. The best part were the fries. They have a seasoning bar where you can put chocolate and sugar powder, spicy seasonings, salty, or sweet seasonings, etc.. The french fries were really good and cooked like old-fashioned style fries, which are my favorite. I loved how you were able to get a free cup of water, especially when you have a kid with you. The restaurant bathroom was a single bathroom, but it was clean enough. I felt like the piece of furniture in there was really gross and that the bathroom could be a heck of a lot cleaner looking. I have to say that their side of fries are actually pretty enormous, which was awesome. My husband ordered pizza, fries and poutine fries and it was really good. I definitely recommend that anybody who comes here better be eating the fries. AMBIANCE: The place is very casual and it's a place where you go up to the counter and order and they bring food out to you. They had an outside patio with many umbrellas which I thought was very nice and it was set up on a deck with a long train car connected to the side of it. It would be nice if the train car provided cocktails or perhaps was an air-conditioned place for guests to sit in because it got very crowded after we ordered and sat down. It just looks like a very cute train car that's not being utilized. The restaurant sits at the end of a street near the lake Inn and we thought it was very cute and overall enjoyed our time there. Today, I had the double bacon burger and my wife had the ATW double burger. Mine was really tasty and the fries were very generously portioned and also fresh and tasty. The Salted Fry was open and a mural of fries on the building was calling me. It's a super cute place with indoor and outdoor seating. Some guy in a store tried to convince us to go elsewhere but we stood our ground and went to the salted fry and now I will always listen to my heart. And my gluten free daughter. So good I don't even have words for it. I'm 50 million years old and should not have enjoyed the chicken fingers like a five year old. This is one of those places you go to and then think about for days after because it's so good. Not to mention what a relief it is to go somewhere that makes it safe to be gluten-free without fear of cross contamination. I'm happy there is a local restaurant that caters to our gluten-free community. But I hate to say it, this was a huge miss for us. Decided to go out for dinner instead of cooking tonight and my fiancé suggested we try out The Salted Fry. We've been wanting a poutine fix and unfortunately, we are still wanting it. We ordered the Smash burger, cheesesteak panini, and a regular poutine to share. Since we were sharing the poutine we both opted for the potato salad as our side. Our food came out about 10 mins after we'd settled into our seats which was good timing. You know how if a smash burger isn't done right it's dry? Well this one was very dry. The potato salad looked promising, but looks proved to be deceiving. It was flavorless. I tried adding salt and pepper, it didn't help. The poutine was ok. It definitely made me wish I'd chosen fries as my side over the potato salad. My fiancé had the cheesesteak panini and reported it as "not too bad" but that it was difficult to eat as the bread fell apart and the meat wasn't chopped for his liking. The inside of the restaurant is clean and has a cute whimsical woodland feel. I don't know if we'll be visiting again.
