There were no nearby wheelchair-accessible parking spaces, and simply getting her inside was an ordeal. Once we entered through the bar and reached the hostess stand, I explained that we needed a table that would be easy for my mother to access. The bar area was completely empty, so I asked whether we could sit at one of those tables. The hostess refused and said they would take my number and call us when a table was ready, suggesting that we walk around downtown in the meantime. That was obviously not practical for an 85-year-old woman in a wheelchair. What made the situation worse was the attitude. The hostess rolled her eyes toward another employee, and the two of them laughed. We went back outside and waited approximately 45 minutes without receiving a phone call. Eventually, after waiting an unreasonable amount of time one of us went inside to ask about seating. We were sat at the very table in the bar area that I had originally requested. It had remained empty the entire time. Our server was polite and took good care of us, but unfortunately the food was only average and nothing especially memorable. We had planned to order dessert for my mother's birthday, but by that point the unnecessarily difficult and unpleasant treatment had put a damper on the entire celebration, so we chose to leave. The lack of consideration shown toward an elderly guest with limited mobility was extremely disappointing. A restaurant does not have to be perfect, but courtesy, professionalism, and reasonable accommodation should be basic expectations. We will not be returning.
