During our recent trip to Mount Dora for the annual art festival, we stopped by Allyson A's Bake Shop again for an afternoon coffee and dessert. It's such a cute spot, with an impressive selection of baked goods at very reasonable prices. This time, I ordered the chocolate strawberry latte, and we shared a red velvet scone along with one of their unique "Nobody Asked For This" chocolate chip cookies made with roasted garlic. The latte was delicious and piping hot--perfect for a chilly day. My first bite of the garlic chocolate chip cookie had me thinking, "No," but it quickly grew on me, and I ended up really enjoying the unexpected combination of flavors. The red velvet scone was huge (perfect for sharing) and absolutely amazing, loaded with chocolate chips. Between the drinks and treats I've tried over multiple visits, Allyson A's Bake Shop has yet to disappoint. It's a must-stop whenever I'm in Mount Dora. read more

Cute lil bakery with some tasty espresso in the cute town of Mt. Dora. Fun creative pastries and bake goods to go with the wile modern farm vibe. The gentleman that helped us was very informative and helpful with what to try. Some things I really enjoyed, some I did not- but those are my taste buds. After reading others' reviews, our group must have visited on an off day. I tried the lemon raspberry scone, which was covered in piped frosting; this is not normally how scones are served. When I asked for jam and clotted cream, I was told they were not available. They offered to heat it in the microwave for me, and at first, I said I'll eat it as is. I was soon back to ask them to heat it, which did help with the texture and taste. My friend had a chocolate raspberry bar, and another tried a cupcake. We were all disappointed in our choices. I had promised my husband something from the bakery when I got home, but decided to pass and went home empty-handed. read more

What a lovely bake shop in Mount Dora! Really a delightful place to stop in and enjoy a coffee with a pastry. I have been here 2 times with my mom. Once was mid afternoon when it wasn't very busy and the staff was kind and helpful. I have to give kudos that the second time we visited was during the Mount Dora Craft Fair and the bake shop was extremely busy with a steady line coming through. The staff was just as kind and helpful so it great to know that customer service doesn't waiver. The shop is very clean, decorated so cute, and just a lovely place to be. We ordered a blueberry muffin and pumpkin muffin. They were appropriately priced. The staff toasted our muffins and heated them up like we would if eating a muffin at home. Both tasted delicious! Lots of blueberries in the blueberry muffin and the pumpkin muffin had a decent amount of streusel on the top with a pumpkin cream drizzle. We passed this shop on our way to the car and decided to pop in being my son-in-law was craving something sweet. He opted for a rice crispy treat and was extremely satisfied with his choice. I selected the lemon crinkle cookie and an oatmeal coconut chocolate chip cookie. We also purchased two chocolate chip cookies for my Mom and a package of cinnamon sugar pecans. The bakery was adorable and very affordable. The total for everything was $11. I really appreciate that they sell small cookies because it allows those of us who are counting calories the opportunity to try more than one on a visit. The cookies I selected were delicious and the pecans were good too. Although, there's nothing like freshly made pecans warm out of the skillet. The coffee selection appeared to be good but we had already started the day at a neighboring coffee shop. We'll have to enjoy a latte on our next visit. Finally, the customer service was excellent. Stopped in for breakfast on a recent Saturday morning. We ordered the quiche Loraine, waffle with fresh strawberries, a lemon muffin, an espresso, and a cappuccino. The quiche was delicious, very light with a flaky crust. The waffle was pretty average, wouldn't recommend. The lemon muffin was warm and fresh. Coffees were good. The sitting area was clean and nicely decorated. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Would definitely visit again if we make it back to Mt Dora. read more

It's funny how I was just saying last year's Xmas event was cold. This confirms it because my review last year of this place included hot chocolate. It was hot this year so we did not have hot chocolate. I ordered a raspberry, chocolate cream cheese angel bar. It was good but it was a little rich and a bit cold so hard to break apart. We ate it up nonetheless and for $5 something that was a good size to split. My husband also loves his key west frozen chocolate covered key lime pie. It's across the street at Julianne's Coastal Cottage. So both of these stops are a must stop every time and conveniently located across from each other. There's a bunch of tables and chairs inside and out. So when we want to be inside, in a/c resting our feet, this place always comes to mind. read more

There are 3 things I'm not a huge fan of - walnuts, figs, and scones. So, naturally, on my first visit to the lovely Allyson in Mount Dora I ordered a fig and walnut scone. This absolutely delightful bakery features homemade baked goods and delicious coffee. There are lovely servers here and I even got to meet the owner. Get here early (and often) and don't be surprised if there is a small line eager to get hold of lemon bars, cupcakes, quiche, muffins, and meltaways. Definitely try their seasonal coffee flavors - my apple pie latte was SCRUMPTIOUS! Oh, the scone? Absolutely perfect. The chocolate chip cookies were mediocre at best. The place echos badly too so if there are kids in there be prepared to not hear anything but them. The service is pretty basic in that you simply order at the display case. Overall it's not a place I'd search out. read more

Coffee in a ceramic mug? We had to ask and go through a bit of a process, but it was nice to sit outside on a beautiful Sunday morning while waiting for the local shops to open in Mt. Dora. The hot mocha was good but could have used a bit more mocha for my taste. They gotta get with it with the foam art though... the heart on mine looked more like a bladder. Speaking of bladders, if you need to use the restroom, you'll need to ask for a key and venture down the maze of a hallway to a tiny room just big enough to do your business. read more

Super cute bakery in the heart of beautiful Mount Dora! A beautiful case full of decadent pastries welcomed us in. There's seating inside and out, just in case you brought your furry friend. Super cute bake shop in downtown Mount Dora! I came in and got a cold brew with cream on the side. The cold brew was the strongest cold brew I've ever had and was quite bitter tasting. I did put a lot of cream in to try to get rid of the bitterness. I'm going to give this bake shop 4/5 stars just because I wasn't crazy over the cold brew. I definitely wanna come back and try another coffee drink and maybe a pastry! read more

They have a lot of delicious pastries to choose from and I ended up ordering the lemon blueberry bar ($4.75) along with a medium latte for my drink ($5.25). Other hot drinks available include cappuccino, espresso, americano, hot chocolate, hot tea, and roasted coffee. The lemon bar was very tasty with the blueberries being the main contributor and the lemon glaze a nice touch for an overall very enjoyable flavor. What fell short was the fact it was cold (obviously had been refrigerated) which created a rather hard bar to cut with a fork. Thinking back I wish I would have asked the friendly employee to warm it up, or better, it would have been nice if they would have asked me if I would have liked it to be warmed up...but I didn't, and they didn't, so that's that. The latte was very good and hot. There's plenty of indoor seating with perimeter tables and a center bar / long table in the middle. There's also outdoor seating on the sidewalk area in front. Just had a chocolate chip cookie. But, a rather large cookie and it was $4.50. Having sold cookies for a living decades ago, I learned that most people like soft and chewy cookies. This cookie was soft and chewy. The value was ok by today's standards for cookies, especially when you take into account the size. Today was one of Mt. Dora's big street events and so the case of sweets were full! Other visits I've walked out as they were already sold out. So, maybe I should take a star off, but not today. This is a very cute clean space in downtown Mount Dora. I got a few different things. My dad loved the lemon bar and the St. Louis bar. I loved the cheddar jalapeño scone and the sausage muffin. Their pastries are all good but the savory baked goods are were they really shine. The woman that helped me was very nice and explained the best way to heat up my muffin later. Whenever I am in Mount Dora, this is one of my many stops. I love getting a baked good from here along with a latte or tea. Recently, I tried their matcha tea which was good, I really wanted hot chocolate but they ran out. It was all god though, they have a good selection of drinks. I also got the bacon cheese scone, which was good but it was a bit salty for my taste. They do have other yummy baked goods. The service is always great and I absolutely love how cozy it is indoors. The quality of the cookie was excellent. I can remember the taste of the Lavender meltaway just thinking about it a week later. The shop was impeccable and cozy at the same time. My brother took me by here after lunch while I was visiting. He is a huge fan of Allyson A's scones and cookies. It's easy to see why there wasn't much left in the case. Everything is made fresh daily and they sell out fast. The service was prompt. My brother enjoyed his coffee and snickerdoodle cookie. We made a great memory. Let me elucidate since the owner made excuses and implied we were the problem. The service was slow (with no one in line, it took 15 minutes to get a simple Americano); she didn't speak to that but made excuses for an ice-cold bakery (no offer to "warm" it up), which tasted like several days old. It wasn't very good. I'll take her word on "fresh," if it's fresh daily, why refrigerate it? It's weird and tasted as much. The staff wasn't friendly and patrolled the bathroom like hall monitors (despite being a guest,) and were unkind when my wife asked about using it. Given the owner's excuse versus an attempt to make amends, it's clear why their vibe is the way it is. The other shop owners on the street welcomed foot traffic, encouraging the public to use their facilities. read more

Very good flaky crust, caramel and loaded with pecan halves. Very reasonable prices. They serve drip coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages as well. I snagged snickerdoodles (requested/ demanded by John), vanilla melt aways, kitchen sink cookies & the chocolate crinkles. First time I have been by this shop when it was actually open! They keep daytime hours. I am usually in the area for dinner after 5pm. I love that they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. If you join their rewards program, you can get a free cookie. They have cupcakes, muffins, cookies, bars and scones. Variety of hot and cold drinks are also offered. I decided to try the peanut butter cupcake, lemon cupcake and strawberry cupcake. The cake portion of each were a little dry. That may be due to being stored in the fridge. The icings are amazing! Our favorite was the peanut butter!! The staff are super friendly and so helpful. They appear to have a great work environment and have fun working together. The attention and service I received was top notch! These really sweet ladies were very patient as I was trying to make my decision. I will come again and try some of their other options! read more

Very reasonable prices and a nice selection of drinks. It's touristy but it's not a rip off which is what I liked. Clean, private bathroom and a cozy place to sit down and just enjoy everything. What I had: cookies of each type and the crumbles. My friend had the monster chocolate chip cookie and coffee. No gripes, no whining. Served fast and and with a smile. So sorry,but I think it's necessary... I live in the neighborhood. It's my goal to patronize and uplift local business. The staff was very nice,the location spacious and well laid out,but don't waste your money on the cupcake. For $3.50 for 1 small cupcake,it should be amazing. This not only not amazing,it wasn't even good. I've had better cupcakes from Publiix. I was hoping the frosting was at least buttercream but it wasn't. The cupcake itself was dry and tasteless. Found out about this Bakeshop when a good friend had some of their bars and brownies delivered to our office. Every bar and brownie was out of this world delicious!
