I love this cafe more than anything. I've been coming here since I was a child and every time I want breakfast food, Billy's is my top choice. The service here is amazing, the staff is friendly and inviting. The cafe is located conveniently in Tavares, so very close to Eustis, Leesburg and Astatula. My visit here was completely by happenstance we were passing by it was time for lunch so we pulled in sorry I didn't find this one on YELP. The restaurant was mostly filled and that's always a good sign especially since I didn't have a chance to check it out prior to arriving. We were seated in a booth in the rear by our server who immediately took our drink orders and promptly returned with her pad in hand ready to take our orders. Basic menu with a few daily specials, one being the cabbage and beef soup, it was highly recommended by our server and homemade for sure. I started with the soup which I must say was outstanding, if it's available try it it's not only unique it's delicious. I also ordered the bacon cheese burger loaded - piled high with fresh sliced tomatoes, lettuce, onion and pickles with mayo on the side - so simple yet this was a great burger. Enjoyed meeting friends this morning for breakfast at Billy's. Reliable good food (Greek omelet was delicious and well prepared). Servers are congenial and efficient. Two big complaints: the coffee is just terrible. It is very poor quality and leaves a bitter aftertaste. For a restaurant that only serves breakfast and lunch there should be no excuse for this bad coffee. Invest in better quality coffee and charge more if necessary but don't spoil my breakfast with this bad brew. Also, offer real half n half with the coffee and not that hideous artery clogging Coffee Mate. There must be local dairy providers who can fix you up with packaged half n half that doesn't require refrigeration. I want my local non chain restaurants to succeed but I think you can do better Billy's. read more

One of the friendliest little cafes in Tavares. If you're looking for a breakfast spot 9/10 Billy's will have what you're hungry for! Try the breakfast bowl, you will NOT regret it! The food is always good! We /DID/ wait about 20-30 minutes before being seated, BUT- we went on a weekend. Always full over the weekends. The staff has an unmatched hospitality, and service couldn't get better; the dining room is a cozy spot to eat in, even if you're sitting in the middle of the walkway. Do you like burnt coffee and sour sausage gravy? Then this is the place for you. I get it, everyone has a bad day, but the waitress told us we were incorrect about the bad coffee and implied the same about sour cream gravy. We'll never be back. read more

We went here for breakfast with a friend. The service was okay. Server was friendly. She did forget tp bring ketchup to the table after she asked if I wanted it, and also when we made the food order, I asked if orange juice could come with the meal and I had to remind her later on. I don't demand perfection, however, just friendliness and a little attention. The food was good. I had a mushroom omelette with home fries and a grilled biscuit (50-cent up-charge). It is a little harder for a place to knock my socks off for breakfast as I make a pretty mean omelette myself. But this was a good meal and I would recommend it for breakfast. read more

i've been there twice within the past two weeks. the food and service are great. the place was packed the last time with people waiting to be seated. despite the crowd, the waitress took our order and it arrived within minutes. i couldn't believe how fast we got served ================================= feedback from other reviews yes, the spread is only fifty percent butter. i didn't use the spread the creamer is coffee mate instead of half and half. i didn't use the coffee mate. however, if you ask they'll bring you a small milk pot and the food (potatoes) is/are a little heavy on the oil. if you have to do lab work, make sure to make your menu selection wisely and my coffee wasn't week; it was full strength and finally, i have to address the yelp questions about parking; no, they don't have street parking, no they don't have a parking garage and yes, they have a parking lot read more

We have driven by on many, many occasions. A friend of ours suggested we stop in, so we did. Restaurant is clean, clean. Service was great! The real star was the food. We actually have been there a couple of times, to make sure our review was correct, and the food is great. Breakfast seems so easy, but most will tell you it is very hard to get it all together properly, and they do. We, and our party, have had crepes, pancakes, waffles and all were very good. I think the biscuits are a little weak, but I've never been a fan of grilling a biscuit. Gravy is very good, as well, but the eggs, whether fried or scrambled, are spot on. If you're not and in hurry and don't mind terrible service but the food is good. Our waitress was terrible, as she was taking our order she was looking around not paying attention to us. When I food came finally came it was brought by another waitress(which I know is not unusual). We asked her for more drinks, she disappeared without bring our drinks. I had to get up myself to get my own napkins and ketchup and then go to the counter to get our refills. Our waitress went to all the tables around us and never stopped. Thank goodness for this other waitress that did help out a little, that's who got the trip.. when we were almost finished with our meal our waitress came over to apologize that it took so long, the cooks aren't used to the weekends. Wouldn't that be something to come tell us why we were waiting for our food, not when we were almost finished with our meal. BTW for breakfast we were there an 1 1/2 hours with no wait. They know us by now because we always get the same thing. My boyfriend says the grits are his favorite in town and the potatoes are seasoned perfectly!! Super yummy place! Stopped in here for a simple eggs, sausage and home fries breakfast! Pretty affordable and tasty! My stomach didn't like the sausage, but I have a sensitive stomach so It could just be my sensitive stomach, but I did feel sick later on because of the sausage. I have visited this place a couple of times before. The service has always been on the slow side. But today took the cake. I took my son here for breakfast we arrived about 11:10. I ordered a standard breakfast and he ordered a tuna sandwich with fries. Our drink order was taken about 15 minutes and in our order a few minutes after. At 12:15 We asked our server how much longer it would be. She said they would begin to make ours next. There was a table of approximately six people ahead of us yet. We asked for the check for our beverages and said we would be leaving. Our server comped the drinks. There's nothing against the food at this place but the service today was incredibly slow with no explanations. It was no more busier than it usually is. Unfortunately we will not be returning. Mary's country kitchen is the same distance away. We will stick with that place. read more

Drove by to my wife's new job and looked like the kind of place we like, AND We did ! I had Pancakes and sausage and it was excellent! pancakes were light and fluffy and you could tell they were homemade with a hint of Vanilla, coffee cup was constantly filled, Wife had Eggs with cheese and bacon. she always asked for bacon crisp and English Muffin on the grill, both were cooked perfectly which isnt always the case at other places. After the meal we went to respective rest rooms. and let me tell you, we both came out and raved how sparkling clean they were ! I have been in high end restaurants that were not nearly as shiny as these were. Only teeny tiny complaint was the teeny tiny containers the " buttery cream" came in, I understand serving loose butter mean a lot get tossed, but was a little embarrasing having a dozen empty containers on table. oh and the home fries which were delicious could have used a sprinkle of peprika :) Highly recommend read more

I've been here probably 15 times, and it's easily the best breakfast in the area. I've never seen faster service or a cleaner restaurant. The home fries are especially noteworthy. I'm not really a waffle guy but they have a huge selection of homemade waffles and crepes that seem to be a big draw. Can't go wrong. read more

I am a local Tavares resident and have been going to Billy's cafe for breakfast for years! Its actually like a scene out of the movie groundhogs day as the menu and the prices are the same day after day after day which is actually a good thing! Tough to beat the really good sized breakfast options and reasonable prices and great service anywhere else! Try the triple stack of Blueberry pancakes with whipped cream and tell me if your stomach is not delighted :-P The home fries potatoes that come with the vast choices of omelettes are also a excellent choice. Quality Food and nice portions for reasonable prices with great service makes Billy's cafe a great choice to make me want to return to again and again :-) read more

A reliable breakfast! With friendly staff. We had omelets with crispy hash browns. I asked that the broccoli be sautéd a little bit more as I don't like it too raw in the omelet. No problem! Coffee was good, hot and generously poured. In the past I've had their pancakes, of which they have many variations. Very good as well. read more
