I went with a small group of women to 441 Diner for lunch. It is behind the Twisty Treat off 441 in Eustis and in a strip mall. So the parking is plentiful. They have Indiana tenderloins which thrilled me. I got it grilled and it was delicious. I also got a two sides and picked a salad and broccoli. The rest of my party got either breakfast items or catfish. All of which got GREAT reviews by the people who ordered them. The decor is awesome. I did not use the restroom so I can't speak to that. HWY 441 Diner is located in a strip mall, plenty of parking out front with a couple of tables in front of the diner. Inside is decorated just like any diner you would expect. Both table & booth seating available. Lunch is available after 10 AM. I arrived just before 10 AM and I as able to order the Triple Decker (Club Sandwich) and the Two Egg breakfast special. Food good and friendly service. This is a little hole in the wall place and could be missed if your not looking for it. However if you are wanting a diner experience then visit. I've been wanting to try this place and finally stopped in. This is in the strip mall with JoAnn's fabrics. The decor is all set up to look like a 50s diner, including the music. That's the best part of the experience. I ordered the pork tenderloin with hush puppies and a baked potato. Got a sweet tea since they didn't have come zero. The park tenderloin was huge, but very fatty/gristly. Taste was ok if you can get past that. The 5 hush puppies were room temperature. Usually they are served piping hot so that was odd. They tasted ok. The baked potato was small, but good. There was supposed to be a diner roll which the server didn't bring. When asked she said " oh I should have asked, most people don't want them so I didn't bring them". WTH!? She wasn't a great server needless to say. I was not impressed and won't be back. read more

First the good, The diner atmosphere is great. Everything an old time diner should be. The iced tea is pretty good. The wait staff is friendly and seem to know most of the regulars. The breakfast I had was not good. You could get the same thing from a good hotel breakfast. The sausage was exactly the same as you'd get in a hotel. It took too long to get my food to the table and the hotcakes weren't really that hot nor was anything else. Spend some money to get quality ingredients. You can do that without eroding profits since you charge 3.19 for iced tea. Buy some real sausage, buy some quality pancake mix and spend a little more on syrup. Jeez. read more

This was highly disappointing. This diner was recommended by the hotel employee where we stayed on our visit to Tavares, Fl. I didn't even take any photos of the food as it took forever to come out even though they were not that busy. I ordered to sausage gravy over a biscuit, over easy eggs and home fries. The gravy was nothing but tasteless thickened milk topped with a few pieces of chopped up sausage meat, not even cooked in that gravy. The eggs were hard, far from being over easy, and the home fries were just over cooked and dry. By the time they brought it to the table it was lukewarm. Staff was nice but not warm friendly as you expect from a small town diner. Unfortunately this will be a one and done kind of place. read more

We have gone here a handful of times and have never been disappointed. Most recently we went as part of a group of eleven and there were a few small issues. Someone's coffee and another person's water was forgotten until reminded, but it was busy there and a couple in our party arrived a few minutes late. The server was very outgoing and friendly, and efficient overall. The food is usually excellent also. This time I felt my Greek omelet was a bit undercooked, but the home fries were excellent, as was the made from scratch biscuit, which is worth the dollar up charge over the regular toast. We just moved to this area but we were excited to have a diner close by but we won't be back to this Diner! I ordered the pancake special with coffee but they charged me for coffee. My wife ordered the waffle special. The waffles were worse than the pancakes. My wife took a few bites and the waitress took the plate away. The bacon was hard and brittle. The waitress brought us less cooked bacon but it tasted like microwaved bacon. We had to ask them to take it off the bill but they still charged for my coffee. The service was a bit slow and the waitress seemed uninterested. The utensils had stains on them. If you still have taste buds they will not be pleased. read more

I've been visiting Tavares for a few weeks helping my mom recuperate from surgery. This is one of her go-to places. I truly appreciate the welcoming atmosphere (not the decor - the people) and their constant efforts to make people feel taken care of and appreciated. The menu is exactly what you'd expect from a diner - something for everyone. The food is fine - but the menu is too extensive for everything to be made from scratch. At the same time I feel like the people complaining about that are being unreasonable because they are priced appropriately for what they deliver. I've been here several times in the past few weeks for lunch and dinner. I had fried shrimp, open faced turkey sandwhich, and a tuna melt (my favorite - such a throwback) my mom is hooked on their roast beef club. Went for some diner food but what i got was overpriced Institutional food. I ordered ice tea at $3.19 and a Open faced roast beef at $14.99. So with tax almost $20 The None of the 4 slices of roast beef was made there and mashed potato's were served with what may or may not have been skin parts which were not a part of the recipe.
