Catfish was delightful and wish I would have gotten that, but the fried shrimp was great. Sweet potato fries also good. Friends and open face roast beef. Looked good and was a lot of food. The name says it all. With its harsh overhead fluorescent lights, dated interior and scuffs on booths and walls, this is a restaurant badly in need of a modern makeover. The food belies the shabby surroundings. We loved our burgers and my table mate enjoyed his catfish. Our sever was prompt and efficient. Prices are reasonable. read more

I went to try the "all you can eat seafood ". They serve you a huge seafood boil. I was not happy about the fact that it had so much water in the container. Anyways, I really wanted just crab legs, but to get a second serving you must eat 90% of your first serving first. I never heard of such a thing when I'd supposed to be all you can it. I do NOT recommend this place. Waitress got my husbands order wrong, instead of saying "sorry let me correct that" she argued with him that he ordered the wrong thing. She repeated this at least 3 times. He got aggravated and said fine he would just keep the order - it was supposed to be fried shrimp and crab legs - a #2. He got a Seafood Combination,,, which sounds NOTHING like I will have the #2. She tried to make amends by again saying she was sorry but he ordered Seafood Combination, when the rest of us clearly heard him say #2. He got fried fish, fried shrimp and a crab cake, He hates fried fish and crabcakes. when she took the order she said "you get hush puppies with that". The blue cheese jalapeño burger with fries was fantastic!! Big portion of fries and an old school char on the huge burger. Kim my server was very friendly and attentive. Wow where to start! So I guess the main thing other than bad service is we were first verbally then physically attacked by the owner for asking for a box then told we were trying to steal from them! Whatever you do if you go here don't under any circumstances ask for a box ! My 73 yr old companion was physically knocked to the ground when trying to leave after being accused off stealing after being told we were taking advantage of him! Let me explain. We made the mistake of ordering the catfish dinner (all you can eat) and after watching 2 waitresses try to take care of the entire restaurant alone (12 tables with 3 large parties during this time)and play hostess ,waitress, bus person and finally cashier with no help from said owner I might add! We ended up in the Trama center hospital in Ocala over a dinner here. We received cold side items that were inedible. Warm milk in a chilled cold glass ,we could not even get refills on drinks or send cold items back, she never came back to check on us .(she was totally overwhelmed) finally after the 3rd time waving her down to get more fish and drinks, condiments etc she finally came back over with the fish and nothing else, so to save some time I asked her for the check and a to go box when she had a second when she brought us the fish. They had a singer starting so we were going to stay and listen while we waited for the fish to cool off. Up until this we had just had the bad service and bad sides but you deal with it we were not letting it ruin our dinner and night out! Anyway she said no about the box so we were surprised but said Ok. Honestly we didn't think much about it but after waiting for the fish to cool off( it was extremely hot) unlike the sides obviously it was freshly cooked and we were waiting to eat it the owner appeared at the table with a major attitude! Telling me I was taking advantage of him and his establishment and we were stealing! I was totally taken aback and surprised at his behavior I mean how do you steal food when you haven't left or hid it etc? I mean I didn't even have a purse or anything so how were we taking advantage? When I asked his name he got very angry telling me he was the owner and that is all that mattered and stared me down! I felt very uncomfortable at his demeanor towards me to say the least. He flat out refused to tell me his name. (Actually really weird!) This is when my companion stepped in to get his attention off me. He was just staring me down in a bad way !And he explained to him that he was crossing the line over this. Now let me explain my companion is a 73 year old Va. veteran amputee with severe heart problems and PTSD and I am his VA appointed caregiver! He stood up on his prosthetic leg to protect me! He then told him he had no right to accuse us of this and that we were not stealing or taking advantage of them and would not be spoken to like this and before anything else bad happened we were going to leave. And wait for the police.We still had not received our bill or refills on drinks etc yet. This is when things went crazy! As he is yelling that we are stealing and he is going to call the police we were trying to get away and flee from this very unstable man they end up at the door which the owner had locked one side and then was physically blocking the other side. Then the owner physically pushed then knocked him to the floor as he was trying to flee away from the assault we were under ! His PTSD was majorly kicking in now and he just wanted to get out! He would not let him out! He bounced off the wall then hit the floor with his head bouncing I finally got to him! Some people offered help and got the owner off and away as I gave him his nitroglycerine pills and tried keeping him awake till the paramedics arrived!!! Can you say nightmare? Horrible experience to say the least .He was taken by ambulance to the Leesburg Hospital and then medivact to the Trauma Center in Ocala! If you honor your life at all don't go here. We have had bad experiences here before but it was just bad service or food not assaults on our lives . In my opinion this owner needs the doors to this establishment closed permanently, it honestly almost cost a customer his life! Seriously please don't go here! read more

While in town, we decided to try out Old Time Diner for lunch. It's a retro 50s/60s diner theme with a fairly large menu selection. The service was great, food came out steaming hot! When we pulled up the parking lot was pretty empty, so we debated about even stopping. However I'm glad we did because overall this has been one of the best restaurants we ate at since being down in Flordia. The staff also seemed to engage with other guests as if they are an old family friend. Food was about $40 for us, but that included a milkshake. Every time I visited the waitress was so rude discussing customers and her tips. I ordered the Am special 2 eggs toast and hash browns with coffee the bill was 6.30. I gave 1.00 and some change. Then there was a young couple who were with there 2 young children that made a mess At first she told them oh don't worry about it I will clean it up. I guess they left NO tip! She was telling another waitress I hope you put gas in your car because no one was tipping? I will never go there again! Elvis is in the corner, 50's and 60's movie stars adorn the walls. Ordered the catfish, which came with hush puppies and 2 sides. Waitress asked if I wanted more catfish. Come to find it is all you can eat, I got one more piece, not that I needed it. The first two were large and this third was even larger. 12.99 was a more than fair for a meal like this. I've gotten food delivered from Old Time Diner before and was pleased, but this is the first time I've eaten inside. My friend and I got there at an off hour so things were quiet. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable. They have an absolutely huge menu, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, and we both got patty melts. A patty melt is my favorite sandwich and mine was one of the best I've ever had. My friend really liked hers too. My onion rings were super, light and crispy, and she liked her sweet potato fries. At the end of our meal the plates were both clean. And the price was reasonable. The server also was super nice and very friendly. It was an enjoyable meal and we're really looking forward to going back to try some of their other things. read more

I have been to this diner numerous times for burgers, but tonight I ordered a 1/2 lb crab/1/2 lb shrimp boil. The crab was old and over cooked. There were 9 pieces of shrimp... smh. But that's not why I'm writing the review --- the review is because when I sent it back I explained to the waitress that it was old and overcooked because the shells were not only rubbery that it wouldn't even snap but the crab meat stuck to the shell. She looked at me and said yes I know- I'm sorry. Then the owner/manager came over and asked why did I send them back. I told him the same. He then stated loudly MY CRABS ARE NOT OLD THEY ARE FROZEN. I told him it's not the fact that they were frozen they are bad. He then raised his voice and became combative. I told him I honestly do not care the reasoning behind they are not THE BEST SEAFOOD as your sign states... I didn't like them so I sent them back. He continued to state more about his delicious crabs lol... then another person asked for him and said her crab cakes were full of filler and over seasoned. She sent them back. Lol... He then came back and stated to both of us customers that he was paying for both of our meals. I only shook my head and goggled to the other patron. the service he gave was HORRIBLE.. We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past 4 years. We have always received great service and the meals were delivered hot in a reasonable time. This is individually owned and the owner is usually there. In these times when it is hard to hire anyone, the regular staff are doing a great job. I can see where it is possible that a new employee may not work out. They have a very good variety of basic menu items and reasonably priced. It is not The Rose Plantation, nor are the prices. Instead of the crab cakes I'd always gotten packed with crab meat this was packed with breading filler! And on top if that the air must have been broken cause it was warm in the dining room!
