This is in a shopping strip near downtown Eustis. It's a breakfast and lunch place. Went for breakfast. It is a very cute little place with 3 small dining areas and a few tables outside. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs, hash browns and a biscuit and unsweet tea. The food was ready quickly. The tea was not good, I had maybe 2 sips. The eggs and hash browns were ok . Sadly I put the 'butter' spread on the biscuit and it was terrible. I couldn't eat it. The service was good, she was friendly and checked on us. You pay at the counter. Giving it two stars because there is a cute dog that is a regular named sushi. Also, I really like the decor a lot. I would definitely try something else next time if I go back. Breakfast came cold. Some of the best sausage gravy I've had. Biscuits not so much. I don't like the way they do their scrambled eggs. Home fries and eggs taste funky and the potatoes have too many burnt chunks in them. $2.99 for a can of coke? Service is good. read more

Unfortunately, I need to update my review. The place has sadly gone downhill in the years since we were here. The breakfast tasted like old oil. I mean the ENTIRE breakfast, including things that shouldn't have been cooked in oil. Nothing was seasoned, either. I left with a queasy feeling in my stomach. I won't be back this time. read more

Stopped her for lunch and we were pleasantly Surprised. The decor is tired and worn. We decided to to Mondays specialty Meatloaf dinner. Portions were good we had meatloaf. , mashed potatoes , gravy and green beans and grilled corn bread. The food was delicious and a nice portion. The price was very reasonable. Service was great. . Three stars for good food and friendly waitresses. I ordered the biscuits and gravy along with some corned beef hash. Very tasty and a great portion. My gripes would be that the place was completely packed with no social distancing enforced and none of the workers were masked. I felt a little uncomfortable knowing these waitresses were going table to table maskless. This is solely my opinion (obviously). I wish more care was put towards the health and wellness factor, but as mentioned initially- the food was great and everyone was so friendly. read more

The food was good, the Ambiance was ok, the booths are very very tight. The service well... I am not sure how they keep anything straight, or keep people from walking out. There is not organization there. Not sure which one was our actual waitress, we did have to ask for refills didn't get our bill and finally went up to the counter. 18 months ago I gave Jeannie's a great review for a lunch I enjoyed there,so now I am doing an update after going there for breakfast. I went with a group of 7 of us. I had planned to order the Greek omelet, but at the last second I decided on the special, a Philly Cheesesteak omelet. It was very good. The home fries were mostly good, though oddly enough a few pieces of potato were undercooked. Only a few, mind you. I paid a 50 cent upcharge to have a grilled biscuit for my toast choice, and it was great. The server was excellent, friendly and efficient, and the food came quickly enough. Everyone seemed satisfied with their selections. You take your check to the cash register to pay after you are done, and that went smoothly also. So I am sure we will go back to Jeannie's again. I still haven't had that Greek omelet! read more

I was very pleased with my breakfast at Jeannie's yesterday. I was so glad to be able to sit outside. The staff were very nice and pleasant to interact with. We shared a Greek Omelette and it was very good with fresh spinach and feta that wasn't too salty. I appreciate that they used good quality ingredients. Found this place on yelp. Decided to stop because of the great reviews. This place did not disappoint. Food was good, service was quick and the waitress was friendly. Definitely will come back again. This place is great. A little hard to find given the new construction in the surrounding building, but nonetheless it is simple and quaint. The employees are very friendly. The food is typical of your standard breakfast, i.e. eggs, meats, pancakes, potatoes, grits, etc. Also, they are the only breakfast nook I could find in the area that actually served croissants! read more

Typical from can to plate restaurant. Biscuits and gravy is canned so i didnt get that. Ate scambled eggs, sausage links, and bacon with hashbrowns. Wish my sausage was browned more than the hash, was hard to enjoy. Must be the sysco hashbrowns which suck when you over cook them. They're inedible. After working as a kitchen manager and knowing food products these owners get from food trucks like sysco and all the canned goods they use instead of making fresh sausage gravy and hashbrowns this place would be booming from simple fresh changes like that. Never coming back because i can eat just as good at a soup kitchen. read more

Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

She then proceeded to harass us, telling us we couldn't sit at any of the tables or even at the bar! Nothing was marked as reserved. She then told us to go ask the bingo lady where we're allowed to sit. This all seemed so easily avoidable if they had "reserved" signs or even state on their Facebook page ad that reservations are needed. When we asked the bingo lady, she told us to sit at the bar. Then the initial white haired lady continued to harass us by asking us if we're sure we're sitting in the right place because those seats are usually reserved for the locals. WOW, she was A LOT and we were so overwhelmed before we could even put in a food/drink order! We almost just walked out due to feeling so uncomfortable and unwanted by the locals in there. The drinks were delicious and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. And our food came out quickly afterwards. The portions were very generous and the flavors were excellent. The sandwich was so good in fact that I housed half of it before I remembered to snap a picture. The El Rey appetizer was fantastic, but very heavy and oily, which may not be for everyone but was perfect for my tastes. My dining companion also loved his food. First impression: spotless. The host stand and dining room were immaculate -- not easy for a building that dates back to 1884. The bathrooms were equally clean. Before we even sat down, chips and salsa hit the table, and that pace of attentive service never slowed. Drinks arrived quickly, food came out quickly, and everything was consistently on point. There were at least a dozen occupied tables, so this wasn't staff boredom -- it was genuine operational excellence. Happy Hour was a surprise highlight: 2-for-1 20 oz Modelo drafts and 12 oz house margaritas. Highly recommend Tajín rims on both. The chips, salsa, and queso dip were excellent -- and we definitely overate it because everyone still ordered full entrées. I had the Salmon with Mango Pico de Gallo, vegetables, and rice -- a large, thin fillet lightly seasoned with Old Bay, and topped with diced mango, tomato, and green pepper. At $20 (Feb 4, 2026), that's a strong value. All price points were very reasonable. Around the table we also had: Carne Asada Enchiladas Poblanas (with classic mole sauce) Portobello Mushroom Fajitas (vegan-approved) Whole Fried Snapper All were perfectly prepared. The side of grits comes in a small bowl which is a good portion for one person and the pancakes were humongous - a very good size for two pancakes and golden brown... I ended up sharing with my wife. We were very happy with the service that they gave us and one of the managers came around to see if everything was good or if we needed anything and we really appreciated that. This is a very down to earth place where it feels like home. It's a great place to bring the family, and we did see a lot of people with their kids, but, we also saw couples like myself and my wife sharing some good coffee or sweet tea and loving life. We are definitely coming back because I wanna try the teriyaki chicken plates and I'm very interested in the shrimp and scallops.
