Scrambled eggs, hash browns and biscuit
    Kerri E.

This is in a shopping strip near downtown Eustis. It's a breakfast and lunch place. Went for breakfast. It is a very cute little place with 3 small dining areas and a few tables outside. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs, hash browns and a biscuit and unsweet tea. The food was ready quickly. The tea was not good, I had maybe 2 sips. The eggs and hash browns were ok . Sadly I put the 'butter' spread on the biscuit and it was terrible. I couldn't eat it. The service was good, she was friendly and checked on us. You pay at the counter. Giving it two stars because there is a cute dog that is a regular named sushi. Also, I really like the decor a lot. I would definitely try something else next time if I go back. Soda options are Coke or Pepsi products in a can.

Biscuits and gravy biscuits were OK. Gravy was not the best but not bad. Really needed some milk or cream in that gravy.

Really good omelet today . Fast in and out, great service . Couldn't decide between a cheeseburger or an omelette so the waitress recommended a cheeseburger omelette, which turned out to be a great decision.

    Meat loaf dinner on Monday's

Stopped her for lunch and we were pleasantly Surprised. The decor is tired and worn. We decided to to Mondays specialty Meatloaf dinner. Portions were good we had meatloaf. , mashed potatoes , gravy and green beans and grilled corn bread. The food was delicious and a nice portion. The price was very reasonable. Service was great. . Will definitely stop again when we go through Eustice,. We both recommend everyone to stop by for a filling meal. Every day is a new special. Taco Tuesday!!!!

A neighborhood gem. Today I got their special : redneck breakfast. Biscuit and gravy over corned beef hash with eggs over. I understand they are known more for omelets. Friendly efficient service and likely a new favorite place for me. Southern Breakfast

Three stars for good food and friendly waitresses. I ordered the biscuits and gravy along with some corned beef hash. Very tasty and a great portion. My gripes would be that the place was completely packed with no social distancing enforced and none of the workers were masked. I felt a little uncomfortable knowing these waitresses were going table to table maskless. This is solely my opinion (obviously). I wish more care was put towards the health and wellness factor, but as mentioned initially- the food was great and everyone was so friendly.

Greek omelette, hash browns and meatloaf/homemade mashed potatoes/collard greens.

The whole atmosphere felt friendly and genuinely jovial. We finished with the peach cobbler served warm in a skillet with vanilla ice cream, and it was exceptional. Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and more of a crumbled consistency rather than a traditional crust--which made it even better. Absolutely perfect brunch experience. We'll definitely be back!

They have all the breakfast items you can imagine and a whole bunch of lunch and dinner options as well. Their menu continues to expand. We, of course, went for breakfast and had our choice of eggs and bacon and grits and pancakes ... but what stood out for me was the biscuits and gravy and the SOS. If you don't know what SOS stands for, look it up... it's a great breakfast item. The SOS is not the same as the biscuits and sausage gravy because that is sausage gravy, the SOS has chipped beef in gravy and usually will come on toast, but I prefer it with the biscuits. I asked for my eggs over easy and they were just right. The side of grits comes in a small bowl which is a good portion for one person and the pancakes were humongous - a very good size for two pancakes and golden brown... I ended up sharing with my wife. We were very happy with the service that they gave us and one of the managers came around to see if everything was good or if we needed anything and we really appreciated that. This is a very down to earth place where it feels like home. It's a great place to bring the family, and we did see a lot of people with their kids, but, we also saw couples like myself and my wife sharing some good coffee or sweet tea and loving life. We are definitely coming back because I wanna try the teriyaki chicken plates and I'm very interested in the shrimp and scallops.

Also, a very interesting variety of plates - simple breakfast combos, teriyaki, Cuban sandwiches, Shepard's Pie, gyros, and chicken livers! What?! Swear to God! Open from 6a-2p every day. Definitely get in on the breakfast combo - yummy hash browns and they even have sausage links AND patties! C'mon...now you're just showing off. I will absolutely be back...and I'm genuinely looking forward to it.

The restaurant was not too busy when we got there. Our friends were already seated and waiting for us. There had ordered water for the table and had their coffees. Two of our friends frequent the cafe weekly so he already knew what they wanted. The rest of us were able to order. We received our food in a reasonable time. Joshua and Kim checked in periodically to make sure we didn't need anything and kept the coffee flowing. I had the Pot Roast Omelette with Home Fries and a Biscuit. It was ok. Everyone else enjoyed their food. I would recommend the cafe adding fresh fruits to the menu. By the time we got ready to leave, there was a line of people waiting to be seated. It quickly became my mom's favorite restaurant after she moved to the area, and whenever I came to visit, she couldn't wait to bring me here. Friends of ours moved from Ohio to Florida and live not too far from The Mason Jar. They kept talking about this amazing comfort-food spot they couldn't wait to take us to. As you've probably guessed by now -- it was The Mason Jar. The moment it clicked, I had a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. Everything felt just like I remembered: great food, friendly staff, and that warm, welcoming atmosphere. The only thing missing was my mom. In her honor, I ordered the fried chicken again. It came with three sides, and I chose coleslaw, fried okra, and mashed potatoes. It was absolutely delicious -- comforting, flavorful, and exactly how I remembered it. There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.
