April, 2025. We were traveling, and realized that we would be going through Chiefland around lunchtime. I looked at Yelp for restaurant suggestions; we decided upon BubbaQue's. By the time we reached, it was pouring rain and we were happy to escape into what the restaurant self-describes as a "folksy spot for BBQ and southern sides," The waitress tended to us immediately, and we were seated in a comfortable wooden booth and brought our menus. Being hungry, we ordered an appetizer (or a "Bubbatizer" in this restaurant) -- Fried Green 'Maters, served with ranch dressing. ($9.99). As per our usual, we planned to split our lunch, and were happy to find combo dinners on the menu. Pick 2 (for $21.99) or pick 3 (for $25.99). Either is served with two sides and a slice of Bubba Bread. We chose a "pick two" meal to share, selecting pulled pork and smoked turkey, with fried okra and mac-and-cheese. Other entree possibilities include Texas brisket, BBQ chicken (1/2), shrimp, Texas sausage, chicken tenders, 3 St. Louis ribs, 6 wings, or 3 sticky bones. There were many additional, enticing side dish possibilities as well. While we waited for our food, we enjoyed looking around the decor of the restaurant. Another reviewer referred to it as having "a cute but overdone redneck theme." This seems appropriate. The theme even extended to the restrooms. Our main combo meal was served quite quickly, even before our appetizer. The portions were good, and the food was tasty. We both preferred the pulled pork (5/5) to the smoked turkey (3/5), and enjoyed both of the sides. There was a selection of BBQ sauces at the table; we tried many! Given that we were splitting a meal, we should have also ordered an additional slice of bread. One drawback. We had already eaten half of our main meal when we asked the waitress about the status of our fried green tomatoes. They ended up being our dessert instead of appetizer. That said, they were hot and tasty, even given that we were already full. We hadn't realized while we were there that BubbaQue's is a franchise, with many locations in Florida, one in Louisiana. We will return when next in the south. We recommend the restaurant. read more

First time here 1306 N. Young blvd, me and the wife was disappointed big time. 11: 00 am our Waitress Cheyanne was very nice but we had to take our food home Luke warm at best. Fries was nice and hot but both meals was not so we took home to cook it. Not sure if will be back ,as far as I'm concerned rib's should be fall off the bone meat and hot. From St Louis on our way to Manatee Springs to scuba dive, we stopped in for lunch. This is some of the best barbecue Ive had in a long time. Counter service, then the food is brought to your table. Loved the atmosphere, decor, and the food was fall off the bone good. No spicy seasoning like some places I have problems with. Multiple sauces and condiments including pickled peppers on the tables, plus a roll of paper towels! The sides were tasty with good portions. Loved them all, coleslaw, mac & cheese, baked beans, and garlic bread soaked in garlic butter. I wish this chain was in the midwest :( will have to wait for my next trip to Florida to enjoy this place again. read more

The new young girl who works there refuses to answer the phone. I called 4 times before coming to the store to place an order and she was sitting in the back. Not to mention she's rude, not paying attention, and has AirPods in? Do better. We often drive through Cheifland to Orlando to visit the kids and grands! We decided to stop here and give it a try this time and we were not disappointed! Love the decor it is cute and entertaining! The lady and gentlemen working there were lovely and very helpful! The food was good the brisket was very good and the sweet potatoes were crispy crunchy Yummy! They have a bunch of different barbecue sauces on the table to try and well we samples them all and liked the original the best of all!!!! Give them a try by far the best in town! read more

Worst ribs I have ever eaten atmosphere was OK and the service was also OK. The only problem with it is the food sucked.

BubbaQue's is one of the better restaurants in the rural area that I live in. Their jalapeño poppers are something like I've never tasted. Amazing! Something that I now order every time I dine there. Their BBQ is mediocre at best, but I feel they are just as good as any other BBQ restaurant. My daughter and I were religiously visiting the BubbQue's located in Trenton on Thursday evenings for their Karaoke night. We always had a blast. It gets busy and the service is subpar. I've had awesome table service and terrible table service but it's not out of negligence as much as it's the servers being young and not able to handle the rush. Still, I have nothing bad to say about BubbaQue's and I would go to eat there again. read more

Had the Double-Wide Sammich, which has pulled pork with brisket served on garlic bread. Very good! My wife had the chicken which was also very good. We are new to the area so we are pretty unfamiliar with almost all dining establishments in Chiefland. Stopped in for lunch and ordered 2 dinner platters so that we could get a good sampling of almost everything. The turkey and pulled pork was very moist and delicious. The wings were just like we like them, flavorful and crispy. Lots of burnt ends with the brisket which was a pleasant surprise. All sides were excellent. Will definitely be back. 10/10 read more

Stopped in after spending a day at manatee springs. Ordered a 2 meat combo-brisket and turkey with 2 sides -sweet potato fries and jalapeño poppers (2). The food came out quick and was awesome! The brisket was super tender and succulent while the turkey was smoky and moist!! The sweet potato fries were curly cut ( my favorite ) and the home made jalapeño popped stuffed with cheese then wrapped in bacon.....anything wrapped in bacon scores big with me and these poppers delivered . IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT..... When our film crew experienced a mysterious tire loss on a deserted street in Chiefland Florida. Twenty-five people stuck on the side of the road in the rain and nothing appeared to be open. The kindly local mechanic on the other end of the phone told us it could be a couple of hours before help could arrive due to the fact we needed not just a tire but a rim as well. Just like that "Uneasy Rider" we limped on down the shoulder on a rim and managed to pull into a parking lot with one lit sign: BUBBA QUES. The crew tumbled out of the bus and into the small cozy restaurant. Ellie, the young woman manning the register as she was working on closing out, took one look at my road-wet crew and said, "Well bless y'all hearts! What can I get you? All of you?" We ordered one of everything, I think. From juicy chicken to poppers, pulled pork, ribs, brisket, mac and cheese...if it was on the menu, we ordered it. These twenty-five people had already spent a day shooting at Weeki Wachee in the rain, had fallen out of canoes and into the brush so their appetites were at an all-time peak. The food was delicious and considering we ordered so many meals all at once, I would not have been surprised if there were complaints from my folks - but everyone was delighted. Meals hot and done but not overdone - and right with correct sides and special orders. The huge variety of sauces was a big hit as well as the huge chocolate cookies at the counter. I do think the biggest hit, though, was Ellie herself. She could have easily turned us away but chose to feed a gang of unruly film folks desperate for chow. As I was paying the check and thanking Ellie, she remarked, "Y'all blessed me by coming in. I was feeling a little bit down and everyone was so happy, it just got to me as well. So thank you!"
