Suwannee Sunset ~ I believe Suwannee has the most amazing sunsets of anywhere I have ever been.

The clam chowder is delicious! Every night the food is great but my favorite night is the all you can eat flounder night; the price is very reasonable. I would definitely recommend you try it if you like flounder. Bon appétit.

Fresh shrimps and grouper. An hour drive, weekend is packed, lots of patrons. Food: Ordered 3 entree dishes with 2 sides, 1 appetizer (calamari), 4 po boy sandwiches. Quality being close to the gulf is great, shrimps and grouper fresh and sweet. Side dishes a bit greasy. Quantity of serving: lack luster. Shrimp po boy ratio veggies to shrimp. Portion sizes definitely does not match the price of these entree. (At least fill up the fries.) Total cost: 120 usd + 20 tip = I'm still hungry. Pros: Fairly quick service considering the amount of people. Tall cups full of tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. Cons: Too loud to call and order take out. No masks with staff or customers. CDC recommended safety during Pandemic not being followed.

Stopped in because it was the only place in town, and we were looking for waterfront dining. Nice surprise, a delightful mashup of a local family diner and a fish-camp seafood hideaway. Delicious grilled grouper and friendly service. Thanks for letting me charge my cell phone, it enabled me to fire up my drone for the attached photo (for 352DRONE.COM).

Salt Creek is about the only restaurant in Suwannee, a fishing community where the Suwannee River meets the Gulf. The single real focus in Suwannee is vacation homes (for mainly fishing) and charters (for fishing) or keeping your boat here (to go fishing), so I think they kinda expect people to catch and cook their own dinner in this tiny hamlet. That said, Salt Creek is the sort of restaurant you'd expect for a place like this--all about seafood and with a full bar and a deck looking out on a creek and the marshes. They will in fact fix the very fish you catch if you want, complete with sides, which isn't a bad deal if you're better at catching fish than cooking them. The interior is nautical-themed, has a main dining room, a patio outside, and a bar with ample seating there, also. Everything looks very clean--I don't know how long the restaurant has been here but the outside is a bit ramshackle (fitting for the creek-side fishing theme) while the interior is super-clean, which certainly you cannot complain about. I had the fried shrimp with the salad bar and Savannah red rice as my sides. I also ordered an Old Fashioned to drink, plus unsweetend ice tea. My friend's sweet tea was very good, very sweet, very perfectly Southern but I am just trying to stay away from so much sugar myself. The fried shrimp were about perfect and very fresh shrimp, too. The salad bar was rather limited but ok--good cole slaw at least. The hushpuppies served with the meal were not very crisp and I didn't care for, but the Savannah red rice was really a winner: sweet tomatoes, bits of sausage, and tender rice. I used to live in Savannah, and this is an authentic low-country dish very seldom seen even in Savannah itself nowadays, but it was amazing to see it here. Very, very, good stuff. The Old Fashioned was ok, but for a place that brags about its "full bar" they are really limited on top-shelf choices and the focus is apparently piña coladas and margaritas, actually, which are made with mixes (they were making them right before my eyes) and their well liquor unless you ask for otherwise. That's ok I guess, and what the clientele seems to favor, but maybe I've become too used to craft cocktails or I am just snooty on this, but I expected a fisherman's bar in the South to have some selection of Bourbons. I mean, isn't a piña colada kinda an Elizabeth Taylor drink? You know? Overall, the food is good. The portions could be larger for the price though. Robinson's Seafood near Cedar Key does excellent fried shrimp (maybe the best I've ever had) and normally does an all-you-can-eat special on them on weekends at that, for a lower price. The Old Fashioned, made with well whiskey, was very reasonable, however.

The best family fun in Suwannee.

With Cole Slaw. She enjoyed it very much. . On their Website they guarantee that you will not leave hungry. That was true. We had enough leftover food to bring home enough for another meal. For Desert we decided to share the Brownie Sunday. In many restaurants desserts are served up in skimpy portions, not at Treasure Camp. The portion was so large that we both ate plenty of it and brought home enough to finish off another meal. If you enjoy a rich decadent gooey brownie with a generous portion of vanilla bean ice cream, this will be the dessert for you. They also had Key Lime Pie, sizzling Apple Pie and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Treasure Camp Restaurant is well off the beaten path, but the food makes the drive worthwhile. If you have a boat you can also arrive that way. There are some cabins, but we did not look at them . A boat ramp is adjacent to the Restaurant and Store. After your meal you can stroll along their dock. This Restaurant has a Chiefland address, but is well outside the town. We drive from Dunnellon about an hour away, we were told that they have frequent diners who come from Crystal River and Homosassa Springs which is even further. Most people would not make this trip unless the food made it all worthwhile. We would definitely make the drive back here again!

First off, if you don't know about Cedar Key, that's because, it's a well kept secret floating off the wild part of Florida's west coast (you could call it the armpit.) But, the place is amazing. It's old school, quiet, natural and beautiful - but the people are smart, likeable, friendly, and damn good cooks. Maybe that's because they're surrounded by waters teeeming with fish and shellfish of all sorts. So Tony's follows suit and harvests local clams for their world-famous clam chowder. Now, how good is it? Well, the answer is, it's the freakin' best. They've even gone up to Rhode Island and won competitions for the stuff. That's saying something. GO FLORIDA!! Anyway, it's a simple place inside a very historic building. You can dine in, but it's not a restaurant per se. It's just tables and chairs, but that's ok. The food is king here. And you can buy their chowder to go in cans, but don't forget, it's more than just a can. You have to add a few ingredients yourself at home. Which makes it fun. And fresh. All in all, if you can't make it to Tony's, order the cans from their website. It's simply the best clam chowder of all. And shhh, don't tell a bunch of people about Cedar Key. It's a secret.
