Atmosphere - Good. The building serves two purposes. It is a breakfast and lunch restaurant and in the evening a dinner service begins under the name of a restaurant that was unfortunately severely damaged by the hurricane in September of 2024. There is an outdoor patio dining area and an indoor dining area. The atmosphere is very seaside casual. Service - Very good. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Food - Mixed. I had breakfast at the restaurant one day and it was very good. My dinner was disappointing. The breading was very thick and the oysters were not cooked through well. Overall Value - Good. After visiting Manatee Springs State Park, my wife and I decided to check out and have lunch in Cedar Key. The GPS suggested a shorter route, with us not knowing part of it is along a hard packed dirt road that took us along Camp Azalea and Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge. When we arrived in Cedar Key, we first checked out the Island Hotel and Restaurant but they weren't open until dinner time. We then pivoted and tried out 2nd Street Cafe that seemed to be doing brisk lunch business. Upon entering, we were seated promptly and presented the menu. My wife ordered their Ultimate Grilled Cheese with sweet potato fries and I ordered their Blacked Red Fish Sandwich with fries. My wife liked the grilled cheese and the sweet potato fries. My sandwich was good but preferred it more "blackened". The portions for the sides were generous...I couldn't finish my fries but helped my wife finish her sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were really good...crispy exterior with a soft and crumbly interior. All in all, a good lunch and good value. Ambience is fine and service was friendly and attentive. I very rarely do bad reviews and in fact I think this may be my first. We normally love small hometown diners for breakfast and will norm ally find one or two on every trip we take enjoying the laidback feel and generally good food, but this time was a swing and a miss. My wife ordered the Biscuits and Grave and as the captions for my photos allude to the Gravy for the biscuits and gravy was like wallpaper paste. I ordered the French Toast Skillet and the toast was raw on the inside. So my wife set her plate to the side and ate the edges of my French toast I ate the eggs and hash browns ( they were made well hence the 2 stars) and asked for the check. We do not like to make a sene and I simply will n be ot eat at a restaurant after sending food back but I would have expected the wait staff to have at least asked about the virtually untouched biscuits and gravy and the half eaten French toast but not a word was said. We paid and left. So in short bad food sub par service. My guess is that this place survives due to it being cheap and the simple fact that there are so few choices. read more

We came by for a quick coffee and breakfast snack. The window was done for Christmas brooms, very cute! We had a Cafe Mocha and Caramel Machiato with oat milk and chocolate chocolate chip muffin and cranberry orange scone. We really enjoyed the coffees as they were not over sweet. The service wasn't bad but not a lot of personality. My husband ordered a sandwich and she asked what he wanted on it, as he was telling her she said don't you want cheese and he said it comes with cheese. He proceeded to say everything the menu said was on the sandwich. Being gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian I was searching for something to eat. All the salads had meat and cheese on them and it was a little cold outside so I decided to get the French onion soup figuring that I could just remove the cheese. The soup wasn't even lukewarm! And I would bet it was made with a dry mix like the kind you use for onion dip. I took a picture of it to try and show how tiny the onions were and it was pretty tasteless. While this place does not look like much on the outside or the inside, this was easily the best breakfast we had our entire trip. So much so that we ended up going twice despite only being in Cedar Keys for 4 days. We ended up going here because most businesses are closed until Wednesday in Cedar Key and this was one of the few that was open at the beginning of the week. While there's not much ambiance in the restaurant, you will be greeted and sat immediately by the friendly staff. Both times we visited I ordered the breakfast burrito because it was that delicious! My dad ordered the blueberry crepes and they were also fantastic. If I ever find myself back in Cedar Key, this spot is definitely at the top of my list for a revisit! read more

Nice waitstaff seated us and we looked over the menu. Mostly breakfast classics with the addition of crepes and biscuit dishes. I got the blueberry French toast. The bread was average but the homemade blueberry compote and compound butter made it a nice meal. My wife got the biscuits and gravy. Overall, I think the hashbrowns (for both our meals) needed to be seasoned. Needed a bit of salt or something to be incorporated into the cooking instead of us just adding it at the end. The service was really slow. Our waitress was kind but seemed to be a mix of being scattered and too social. Like chit chatting with locals at a big table and then wandering over to the counter to organize tips and chat with other staff. It just didn't seem like the time to be doing that when there was a line out the door and we were waiting on coffees and food for as longs as she was. All staff was very friendly so that was a plus. This place has been open 2 months and they are doing very good. Service was timely and we didn't need for anything. I had my usual breakfast of eggs hashbrowns and sausage with english muffins. The english muffins were huge. Hashbrowns were very cheesy. Eggs were done just right. Candyce had her usual breakfast and every thing was done exactly to her liking. The place has a full bar even though only open till 200pm. Clean and nice. Great outdoor seating. With the people lining up at the door, this place should do good. The food was good and I was satisfied, overall, and the servers were totally polite. That said, we were very disappointed to learn the water cost a dollar a glass, who does that? The only place I've ever been to where you pay for water. At least, the only place in the U.S. where they charge for that. My dad didn't care for the coffee, I thought it was fine, but he asked that I tell you it tasted like floodwater, so you've been warned. Still, I thought it was a great breakfast. It's a got a nice outdoor section, which is perfect for a place like Cedar Key. In general, I liked it, but I found it necessary to write a review solely because they charge for water. Right next door to the Cedar Inn, so morning coffee was only steps away. Great little cafe, well lit, clean, well staffed, and good coffee. Locals eat here. We had the standard breakfast fare of eggs, grits, bacon, sausage, and biscuits. Everything was perfect, with the exception of the grits. The flavor was ok, but the consistency was off. They were finely ground and more like mashed potatoes than grits. The omelets and skillet plates that other folks ordered looked wonderful. They have a full bar, so you can have a Bloody Mary or Tequila Sunrise with those eggs. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again. read more

The taco bowl was great, and very filling! My wife had the Smash burger, which was good but nothing incredible. The fries were super good though- it's 3 dollars extra, but very worth it. Tables are clean, and plenty of space between the tables for social distancing. It's dog friendly too; our waitress actually brought a complimentary dog cookie out for our dog, who gobbled it up! We were exploring downtown and decided to try this place out as it appeared to be fairly busy. Both inside and out has spacious seating. Outside is also covered. Not much of a mask mandate here or anywhere in town but no worries we have had our shots. We were seated outside at a table that needed to be cleaned. The young woman seating us obviously did not want to be there. Our waitress solved the cleaning issue and we ordered lunch. The menu has a nice selection with several of the sandwiches available in half portions. We ordered the grilled cheese with a side of waffle fries and the half a French dip along with a bottled beer and ice tea. The grilled cheese had cheddar, gruyere and caramelized onions. Actually very tasty. Fries were hot and plentiful. The french dip looked good but was too greasy to eat and did not finish it. We did not bring it to their attention. Our waitress did a great job and was attentive throughout the meal. Prices were good. Overall nice locals place in a cool town. We'd come back just not order the french dip. read more
