Then I spotted mine. The Brooklyn Bombers, AKA Fugeddaboudit! As soon as I read what was on it, the search was over. Pastrami, coleslaw, Russian dressing, mustard and Swiss cheese piled onto rye bread. And let's talk about that rye bread. With a sandwich loaded with this much personality, the bread could easily become nothing more than transportation for everything happening between the slices. Not here. That rye MADE the sandwich. Everything worked together. The richness of the pastrami and Swiss, the crunch and tang from the coleslaw, the Russian dressing and mustard, all held together by that excellent rye. Fugeddaboudit, indeed. The atmosphere is casual, light and fun, and the whole experience just made me happy.
