Fried chicken was really tasty with a perfect crunch and juicy chicken. The fried catfish was breaded with cornmeal, perfectly crispy, also well seasoned and very moist and tender inside. The tartar sauce was homemade and very good but they also have a good peppered vinegar. Between us all we had an opportunity to try a lot of sides. Hush puppies which one of our hush puppy lovers said was the best she ever had (I'm not a fan of these overall so I can't really say). The potato salad was very good, creamy, with just a hint of onion and relish. Baked potatoes and sweet potatoes were enjoyed by all. Loved the crispy okra and green beans. Collard greens were also good. Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the pies. Caramel apple walnut was a little too nutty for me but it was still good. They key lime was my personal fave -- the crust was a good crumbly graham cracker that was definitely home made. We also had a lemon meringue and the chocolate coconut cream pie, which was essentially a half and half with chocolate cream and the bottom and coconut cream on the top. Both had beautiful, moist meringues with nicely toasted tops. On top of good food, we had a great waitress who was super attentive and very patient and friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and looking for some nostalgic, good southern comfort food.

However, they were very friendly considering our late arrival and I don't blame them for being out of the good stuff at closing time. Ordered a cherry pie the next day. It wasn't cheap but it was really good.

Once for breakfast and once for lunch or dinner. I've never had the seafood night, but it's been recommended multiple times in conversation and here in other reviews. Upon entering, dirty tables everywhere and it was so hard to find a clean table to sit at. Dirty floors, dirty windows, buffet with people hovering over it while standing in line to pay their bill. It's ok to have an older restaurant but they must keep it clean! My husband never uses a straw, but he did today - scared the cup may be dirty...we know some folks that come here so we stayed because we just needed to see if it got better and why they come...it's a hard no! Long wait, extremely salty food, sad presentation of the food appearance. I had images of the kitchen in my head after seeing the front of the house. We've never been to Cross City - assuming it's a fishing town - which is cool but other than that, not much here. The pros - waitress was nice and seemed to like her job. I liked all the patriotic decorations. Well we were really hoping to like this establishment, but not for us, oh well, we came, we tasted, we saw, and now we move on.

Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

To be honest it looks like a old pub but we were pleasantly surprised how great the food was. We started with the Kalbi burnt ends which were great with its kimchi mayo. The mac-n-cheese which was creamy and delicious and finally the enormous chili dog topped there pbr chili that has beef and smoked sausage. All in all we had a great experience and can't forget about there great draft beer menu!!!!

Pudgees is a burger and Hot dog shop par excellence. What a wide assortment of options. From merely big food to titanic portions for the champion eaters out there. We both tried the half pound burger and wow.Tasty- and two hands full. Burgers of this size require grip strength and endurance to keep it from exploding like a deck of cards. My initial bite (a gator sized one) merely grazed the perimeter. I was sent scampering off like a chihuahua tail between my legs whimpering. I regained my pride in time and went back to combat with that beast, the details of which I will spare you. I emerged victorious but both my girlfriend and I agreed we could have shared one. I would like to go back again and again to try their various hot dogs and a pork cutlet sandwich which appears insane. I hope to see you there.
