Great for those people like my husband and I watching their carbohydrate intake. My husband who loves sweets had to give them up when he became a severe diabetic and misses them so much. With Queen of Cakes keto baked items he can have an occassional treat without raising his blood sugar significantly. Queen of Cakes also offers delicious regular baked items plus beautifully decorated cakes for special occasions. She also bakes savory items such as biscuits, rolls, mini pizzas, take and bake pizza dough plus pepperoni pizza rolls. Queen of Cakes is a small business but the owner/ baker bakes an impressive amount and variety of baked goods. Beautifully baked and decorated there's something for everybody in her bakery cases. I love the fact that she sells pieces of cake along with her numerous cupcakes. Whenever I go my husband warns me don't overspend because quite frankly everything in her bakery just calls out to me! I do hope you will try our hidden gem of a bakery here in Crystal River and support a small business whose owner is wonderful and will do anything to make her customers happy!

If that were the only item available, they'd have a customer for life in me. I love that i can taste all of the elements without any being out of balance. This is so rare in food these days, particularly in pastries 'n' such. I also had a chocolate muffin. Again, utterly delightful; abundant chocolate flavor and appropriately sweet without being gaudy. YUM!! Staff is so very nice and friendly. They find time for gentle yack with us visiting yankees. Wunnerful place! DO pay them a visit.

Cedar Key island Bakery is a family owned bakery where most if not all of their recipes come from previous generations ! In the early 2000's they opened in Nashville and the bakery grew very big but the family wanted to travel the country. After some time they decided to settle in Cedar Key ! Everyone who walks in to the bakery will be greeted with smiles and kindness! On Thursday's it's key lime pie day and you must go early! As the day goes on the delicious baked goods can disappear fast. The fantastic chocolate cake I've heard is a secret recipe that's been in the family for many, many years I can only imagine. It is so moist and heavenly, not too sweet and just the right flavor, texture and richness we had to go back in and grab a second to take back home! There is even ice cream if you'd like to have some on top, just yum! I picked up a caramel apple donut that was out of this world stuffed to the brim with apples so fresh and incredible. I also got a peanut butter and jelly donut that most definitely had real peanut butter and it is outrageously delicious! The chocolate covered donut was simply divine. The chocolate on top is thick and tastes almost a bit like ganache. I will be getting these again and trying others when we come back as the Cedar Key Bakery is going to be our go to when visiting. I almost forgot about my maple bacon donut that I also really liked. I would probably add more bacon but maybe that's me because it still is another delicious option. Everything in this bakery is wonderful and I can promise that you will love it! The atmosphere itself is amazing, you just have to walk in and see. It almost feels like an old country store but instead you find wonderful fresh baked goods and ice cream ! What more can anyone ask for. We have not done that yet, still enjoying the lunch visits. I would recommend making a reservation though. the tea room is not spacious, and we have seen walk ins turned away for lack of room. but for us, the highlight is the interaction with the owner. NOT for the snooty or stuffy customer. If you get offended when the owner jokes with you as he takes your order, PLEASE don't come here. Your attitude embarrasses us all. His demeanor is like that gruff old man who accepts that he has to repeat the specials, but who can't resist chiding you about it. All the staff is wonderful, but he stands out with his banter. For a lunch, or just tea and a scone, definitely try Sweeties.

The perfect place for a book club meet-up, or catch up with friends at any time of day, the cafe is sweetly decorated and uber cozy. I was so glad to see they were open as the few times I had visited before they were closed. With that said, I recommend to call beforehand as my understanding is that the bakery has odd hours sometimes. The staff was friendly and helped me choose a selection of goods to take home with me. I ended up with their very last snickerdoodle cookie, two spinach quiches, and their peanut butter chocolate cheesecake with an Oreo crust. Yum, yum, and yum! All of it. The quiche was particularly good and heated up well the next day keeping the center moist and fluffy while still being loaded with spinach. Sorry to say my review won't come with photos of the treats I picked up as I ran out quickly to get home in the rain. But...I guess you'll just have to go see yourself! Soleil Bakery & Social House is a must try!

We finally explored the square due to one of the art walk events. Since it we visited twice here on Friday evenings, we decided to have espresso. During the events in the square, the businesses usually stay open later than usual. This also means they are busy. I have yet to visit during normal business hours so I am not sure how the traffic is usually. Our first visit was just to check it out and get whatever on a spontaneous decision. I did not know they serve beer and wine so I opted for wine our first time. I picked out some French white wine, which wound up being over $20 for a tiny bottle! The staff member warned me she was unsure of the price and we were both shocked when she scanned it lol. I then switched it for a sparkling wine, which was half the price. The espresso hubs and I split was as good as it gets. We love our espressos and coffee bold and strong so we were happy. The staff member also gave me a teacher's discount, which I appreciate so much because therapists don't usually get discounts! The next time we visited, we ordered another espresso, as well as a cinnamon bun and an Andes cake. OMFG how orgasmic!! I love mint chocolate anything so I was sooooo excited! We saved it for later and it was just amazing! Hubs loves cinnamon buns and he approved as well. Both times we sat for a while, sipped our coffee, and talked. I am definitely interested in checking Soleil out when it is less busy to soak it in. The place was clean and the staff were personable and friendly. They serve a lot of vegan products and honestly, they are so good, you probably could not tell the difference which is vegan or not. They have comfy seating and it does feel very cozy in there.

I went with a lingonberry custard pastry (I forgot what the actual name was) and it was absolutely delicious! The tart lingonberries, creamy custard, flaky pastry, and sweet glaze all complemented each other so well. I do wish there was a lot more filling and that it was more evenly distributed, as I only got a few bites with the filling and the rest were just plain pastry with glaze (still yummy though). The service was very quick and the people behind the counter were helpful and friendly.

The lady at the front was so kind and welcoming, even though it was clear they'd had a rush (it was Easter weekend, so totally understandable that people came early and stocked up!). Everything is super reasonably priced, all items are $3, and you can get a half dozen for just $12. That's wild for the quality you're getting! They have an amazing variety: danishes, cookies, pound cakes, and more. We ended up with a vanilla glazed cinnamon bun, lemon pound cake, cinnamon danish crunch, almond cloud cookie, karma cookie, and a pecan pie bar to split with one of my close friends, and every single bite was absolutely delicious. I wish I had known there was a line forming right at 7am. I would've rolled out of bed sooner. Thankfully, they told us you can call ahead and reserve, which we might just do next time because I'm already thinking about going back. I highly recommend the danishes & vanilla cinnamon glaze glazed bun and the pecan pie bar! This place is one of those spots you'll want to visit again and again, just get there early or call ahead to snag the goods!
