We drove from Jacksonville to Gainesville for a day of exploring and lunch. Our middle daughter and her husband said "next time you're in Gainesville you MUST eat at The Paper Bag!" We had some long time friends come down with us as well. Our first stop on our Gainesville Adventure was here! I ordered the #9. Tony Montana Cubano. I have to say I've had many Cuban sandwich's before but this Cuban sandwich was the BEST! I love the flavor of seasoned pork they use as well as the Boars Head Meat. I do believe all those makes the difference. If you like Cuban sandwich's you must try this one. Also our friends with us ordered the #12 Uncle Drew Monte Cristo and shared and they loved it! After coming here several times, I have to update my review because this place has gotten even better! It is still pricey for a sandwich, but they load it up with toppings so I think it's worth it. They have lots of unique options, as well as a sandwich of the day at each location which is super fun! The service is great, sometimes a little slow but the food comes out piping hot and so fresh. The ambiance is very cute with a nostalgic feel and some seating both inside and outside. It has recently become my go to sandwich spot in the area! read more

Everyone loves good things that come in paper bags and right here is very much so one of those things that's just magical and no I'm not talking about the bag I'm talking about what comes inside the bag! We came here one morning and of all things got breakfast which was one of those times where I told myself I wish I would have gotten lunch instead! Don't get my wrong the yummy J Rock sandwich I had on that delicious sourdough bread that was packed with eggs cheese bacon and some sauce to set it all off with a delicious yummy vibe to hit the spot was awesomely good but those lunch sandwiches screamed out to me so much so that you know we will be back for a lunch visit at some point! All the cooking and prep is done in front of you. I got the #11 Tre Way Jay. It had burnt pork ends which have a tendency to overpower with flavor. This was a nice blend of flavors. I half thought i would lick the paper it was wrapped in. My wife got the #24 Blue Lagoon Melt. Basically a warm tuna melt. She enjoyed each bite. Ended up taking half home because it was so filling. My sister in law got the #23 Puff the Magic Dragon Toast. This was a avacado toast with scrambled eggs on it. She opted for no egg. Hello today, I visit the latest location for the paper bag on NW 39th Ave. we ordered the Tony Montana, which is like a Cuban sandwich and I ordered the Brooklyn bomber pastrami with a little salad dressing hot press with other ingredients on it and fill them for both of us, we sat outside in the atmosphere was nice. Cute counter order/quick serve place for some amazing sandwiches. My oldest daughter went with the Island of Capri. She really liked it and said it had tons of flavor. My youngest and I shared the Island of Capri and the Puff the Magic Dragon Toast since we could not decide between them. We both thought the toast was good, but we liked the Capri sandwich better with all the mozzarella on it. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the open kitchen made it nice to see the different sandwiches being made. You can see the fresh ingredients there while they are making the sandwiches. Today I finally had the opportunity to catch a lobster roll day and I'm speechless. This one came on ciabatta bread and it was packed with lobster meat in a creamy buttery goodness. I have heard great things about Paper Bag and being known for their sandwich variety. I stopped into the Tower Road location for lunch around 12:45pm. The inside had quite a few people eating inside but I decided to get my sandwich to go. I had looked over the menu prior to going so I had an idea of what I wanted. I was in between the #21 & #22 on the healthy hits menu. The employee told me #22 was a popular choice, so I went with that. It took about 10 minutes or so to prepare. While I waited, I glanced over the hot sauce options that they had which ranged from black truffle hot sauce to a mango hot sauce. I went with the mango hot sauce since I figured it would compliment my wrap. So the #22 is the Richard Slim-mons and it was a turkey meat with honey mustard, roasted peppers, onions, tomatoes, and mozzarella with a balsamic reduction all pressed in a wrap. The wrap is THICKKKK and very meaty. I love that the turkey is from Boar's Head because they definitely have quality lunch meats. The veggies and cheese were complementary to the wrap and adding the mango hot sauce was a plus. I would have to say everything was very tasty. I also like that they brand their brown paper bag which goes hand in hand with the business name. I look forward to trying another Paper Bag creation soon. read more

My wife and a couple of friends met for lunch today, and unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming. We all felt the food was overpriced for what we received. My wife and her friend both ordered the #10. The sandwich had more bread than meat and was missing the onions entirely. The Au Jus tasted like it was made from a seasoning packet and had an unpleasant aftertaste. A big turn-off for all of us was the sandwich paper -- it stuck to the bread so badly that removing it often tore pieces off, leaving paper stuck to the sandwich and often times ending up in your mouth. I ordered the #11, which was very disappointing. There were no burnt ends or pork belly anywhere on the sandwich. After taking it apart to see what was inside or in this case what was not inside, I found mostly pulled pork and a few slices of ham, all drowned in BBQ sauce. That sauce was essentially all you could taste. I'm not sure how it would have been if the correct ingredients were included, but as served, it was a big miss and extremely disappointing based on the price of $13.95 Our other friend ordered the #14. His sandwich could have used a lot more meatballs as well as pepperoni but came with enough marinara for a large pizza. Once again, like the other sandwiches, the bread-to-filling ratio was way off -- far too much bread for the amount of meat provided. We all agreed that we've had better sandwiches at Firehouse Subs, which offers more meat and better pricing for the portion size. The meal wasn't terrible, but it could have been much better. The cost is what left a lot to be desired. Our bill came to over $80.00 for 4 people. read more

It was awful. A hair was found in one of the sandwiches we ordered. Ordered the largest sizes of their sandwiches, and they were tiny, probably the same size as a kid's hand. We have been going to this location for quite awhile and had always enjoyed it until the salad we always got changed. The Brown Derby salad with chicken breast added has been our go to and when we went yesterday we ordered as usual but instead of chicken breast on it. there was a plop of shredded mushed together chicken (?) that seemed from a can and mostly dark meat. It was not appetizing to look at and was not edible. They need to take the wording of chicken breast off the list and just say shredded chicken.
