Happened to come across this place while I was doing the 6th Street Rail Trail to Alachua Lake Overlook with my wife! We had passed this place on the way to the lake and it seemed interesting, so I kept it on my short list of places to check out for lunch on the way back. It turns out it was the perfect fit after what ultimately proved to be a 14-mile trek! The place is located just off the main road and has a quaint feel to it with two dining rooms and a counter. Much like my other recent review, SweetBerries serves your standard lunch fare and also specializes in custard. As such, it served as perfect-pick-me-up on a day where the heat index was at 105F! You order what you'd like at the counter and a server will bring your food when it's ready. The establishment has fountains available for drinks. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout the experience. We got the SweetBerries Sunset custard with fresh fruit to share between the two of us, and wound up being the perfect frozen treat to get us back to the truck. Unlike her, I was also looking for an actual meal, so i chose to order the Chicken Salad on a croissant with mac salad. While the mac salad was simply ok, but flavor of the buttery croissant elevated quality the light and refreshing meal. I tried the Hot Chick sandwich at SweetBerries and I'm still thinking about it. Their signature chicken salad on toasted sourdough already sounded good, but the way they executed it was on another level. The bread was grilled perfectly, buttery, golden, and exactly the kind of crisp I love. The flavors were unreal. The crispy bacon added that salty, smoky crunch that hits immediately, the muenster cheese brought this smooth, melty richness, and the sweet onion and carrots added the perfect fresh bite. But the real surprise was the honey mustard. I'm a honey mustard lover, but I was honestly skeptical about how much they'd use or whether it would overpower everything. Instead, it was beautifully balanced, but just the right amount of sweetness to bounce off the savory bacon, the creamy chicken salad, and the buttery toast. Every flavor complemented the next, and it all came together in a way that genuinely surprised me. It ended up being one of the most amazing sandwiches I've ever had. It's a beautiful, and lazy Florida breeze gently reminds you to eat your deli sandwich slowly! The food here is good, and I mean real comfort food. The reuben rye bread was toasted for crunch, and the sandwich was quite savory. The vibe here is very relaxed, and the crew was very helpful and polite. The food is good and the desserts are great! Notice there is no photo of the dessert. When it hit the table, the smooth chocolate, almond, raspberry custard got nothing but spoons. Soo smooth, and so delicious! I've driven by plenty of times but never had been to this location, only the one in Bradenton. It was a good experience, nothing outstanding but nothing bad. A friend and I decided to come here for lunch on a Saturday. We got there at just the right time (around 12:30) and there were a few people. When we were leaving though, it was quite busy but that also could've been because of the spring game and extra people in the area. I took a minute to look at the menu but ultimately went with the grilled chicken Caesar wrap, can never go wrong there! I got the combo which came with a choice of side (I got chips), pickle spear, drink, AND custard. All that for like $15-16 (there's a cash discount) is def a steal. You have the option to wait to get your custard when you're ready so it's not melting which is perfect. I enjoyed the wrap. Because I'm a sauce lover, it could've used a bit more but overall it was pretty good. The flavors of custard available were dulce de leche (flavor of the day that rotates), vanilla, and chocolate. I got the dulce de leche and it was refreshing and delicious! They have a good bit of tables to sit at inside and also outside so that was nice. We sat inside since it was a little toasty outside. I haven't had a meal here in a very long time, so I won't comment on that at this time, but the custard is very creamy and delicious! It's a light and fluffy texture and they offer a special flavor of the day. I will say I wanted more mix-ins in the flavor of the day, but otherwise it was tasty. I am super glad that I went here because I was craving a muffuletta, super delicious as well as the macaroni salad...although when I got to the end, the back of my mouth tasted soapy and I didn't know what was going on. A surprising find with great food! Being an ice cream place, I expected nothing but basic hot dogs, ham and cheese, etc. I was delightfully mistaken! They had a very nice selection of sandwiches with goat cheese, pesto, and homemade chicken salad. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with cibatta bread with goat cheese and very fresh ingredients. The broccoli salad was awesome and I give it my highest recommendation. The broccoli salad was nicely chopped with red onions, bacon, and cheddar cheese. A curious thing they had was mistake custard. I asked them exactly what that was, and basically it was when they prepare a custard dish and it wasn't what a previous customer ordered, they placed it in the freezer instead of the garbage. I got a small chocolate custard for $2 instead of the usual $4-5. The so-called small custard was honestly about the size of a medium at Culver's, and it filled both the entire paper cup as well as it's plastic dome lid, seemingly a a cup and a half of frozen deliciousness. The hot dog was ridiculously thick, like an inch and a half, and split down the middle for completely cooking it. The hot foot Sunday had quality fudge and a very moist brownie buried underneath the ice cream custard. I'll definitely come here again. It is worth the drive! read more

I've never had chilli with cactus before and it did not disappoint, sweet with a very mild kick, I would definitely get this again. The chicken with goat cheese sandwich had a significant amount of goat cheese which I loved as well. Chicken tasted like the precooked grilled chicken, which I wasn't upset with since the price was so good. Pesto chicken was good as well and the macaroni salad tasted like Publix's (but a quarter of the cost). Not pictured is the peanut butter Oreo custard which tasted like Reese's puffs cereal- the peanut butter wasn't overpowering and it was a fantastic finish to the meal. I checked out SweetBerries on its opening weekend with some friends who have loved it since it was located closer to the UF campus. For the opening event they had live music outside and were running a promotion of $1 off sandwiches or their concrete custards. I ordered their New Orleans muffuletta sandwich, which had ham, Genoa salami, provolone cheese, and garlic olive tapenade served on grilled focaccia bread. The sandwich had good flavor and it was an actual tapenade (some places chop up a few green olives and call it tapenade), but it did feel kind of small in size. Not enough to really fill me up. It came with a choice of a side and I went with the potato salad, which was creamy and had big chunks of potato. For the concrete, I tried the Chocoholic, which was chocolate custard with chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between their concrete (traditionally thicker) and your typical soft-serve. The flavor was good though. One disappointing favor is that they forgot to apply the $1 off promotion for the sandwich. Overall, SweetBerries has a eclectic list of deli sandwiches, grilled sandwiches, wraps, salads, specialty hot dogs, and of course, custards. Give them a shot in their new location. read more

We just had lunch on the patio with our dog and friends. The KC beef sandwich, tuna melt and tuna salad were all delicious. The broccoli salad and potato salad were as well. Everything was homemade. I didn't know what to expect from SweetBerries. I was thinking ice cream but I was pleasantly surprised with their lunch items. We got their Chicago Hotdog, Carolina Hotdog, and Caribbean chicken salad. I really enjoyed the Chicago hotdog. Lot's of relish, a pickle, and other flavors. The Carolina hotdog was very good too. The hotdogs were meaty but you may need more than one if you have a large appetite. The Caribbean chicken salad was good but next time I'd like to try the soups and sandwiches. The "cement" custard was delicious too. The SweetBerries Sunset had lots of berry flavor. Razz-Ma-Tazz was a great option for chocolate lovers. The dining area is simple. The concrete walls seem to reverberate the sounds so it can feel noisy inside. They also have tables outside and a good size parking area in front of the restaurant. Their WiFi is provided by Cox.
