Updated review .....as always, the gyros are always fresh, i love my gyro platter. We with the Hummus and salad. And rice. The décor in there, obviously it has that Middle Eastern vibe with Middle Eastern TV playing in the background or music depending on the time of day. And the 2 brothers that run the shop are always friendly and remember their. Regulars

This casual Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Greek restaurant located in Gainesville offers gyros, platters, salads, vegan choices and a large baklava selection. I had a Greek Salad $7.25, spinach pie $5.50 and a selection of baklava. Everything was delicious. The staff is very efficient and friendly.

Gyro plus! Phenomenal! In a semi run down/unassuming strip mall, but don't judge a book by its cover. Gyros made exactly how you want and to order. Generous portions leaving you full of scrumptious Greek fare. Clean dining room with plenty of seats even for a busy day. We didn't try to desserts but the case of assorted baklavas looked beautiful.

The food here is always tasty and definitely seems authentic. The pita bread is very fluffy and soft, though the pita sandwiches can be a bit messy. The grape leaves were very tasty as well. The service is very quick and the ambiance is decorated nicely. It definitely satisfies the Mediterranean food craving!

Delicious gyros and falafel at a convenient location near the university. Nice ambience with plenty of indoor seating. Quick, friendly service. Clean bathrooms too.

Gyro Plus is a great local spot for some Mediterranean bites and has a great menu variety for meat and vegan/vegetarian lovers alike. The restaurant is placed in a plaza next to Zeezenia International Market so there's a good amount of parking. I was greeted by a friendly older man who gave me a few minutes to look over their extensive menu. I was in the mood for some great veggie options or platter. I decided on the vegan falafel platter which comes with hummus, tabbouleh, pita, and salad which consist of pickles, lettuce, and tomato. I also ordered a side of baba ganoush, which is one of my favorite side dishes. The food took about 7 mins and it came out a little under $20. I did this as a to go order, so I was excited to try this once I was home. So the platter had about 4-5 falafel balls that were crispy yet moist on the inside. They were bursting with a lot of flavor and were very filling. There was also a side of white sauce or tahini I believe however, I used the hummus and baba ganoush for dipping purposes. The hummus was very creamy and savory. This is one of the best hummus I've had. The tabbouleh can be a hit or miss due to the herb mixture of mint and parsley - but this one deserves an A. If you have never tried tabbouleh, this is a salad that is made up of parsley, mint, tomato, bulgur, onion, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt. I have also seen tabbouleh with pomegranate in place of tomatoes. This was refreshing in addition to the hummus and falafel. It's like a palate cleanser. Lastly, the baba ganoush...I could not stop eating this. Literally I could've eaten this with a spoon it was so creamy and delicious. Gyro Plus is as authentic as they come! I can not believe I have not been to this place before, but I will be back to try one of their vegan desserts and other platters that they offer.

This is a very simple looking restaurant, but don't let it fool you, there's two brothers that operate it, and they are the real deal. The food is delicious and authentic, freshly prepared and well worth the trip. Make sure you save room for baklava... There's 12 different varieties.

BEST MEDITERRANEAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD! Any time I have visitors I make them try Gyro Plus. They make their hummus and pita fresh every day and it is incomparable to anything else (besides for in the Middle East). I have genuinely tried every kind of baklava and they are all INSANE I think I have narrowed down my favorite to the pecan or chocolate pistachio. 10/10 recommend the falafel hummus wrap and zataar pie as well. Additionally, I have visited ~20 times and it is the same man working every time! Kudos to him! It looks sketchy on the outside but trust me you don't want to miss this

Well the man that took our order was no nonsense business only kind of guy. Ever see the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld? Yeah.....that's this guy. I almost expected to hear "No Gyro for you!!" Hope the foods better than the unwelcome order clerk! The gyro was so so. Didn't have very much flavor. The tomatoes on it were really good and ripe and that's mostly what I tasted. There wasn't much tzatziki sauce. It was good but that's about all I can say about it. The fries were cooked in old oil. My Honey ate them but I didn't. The baklava was good but a little stale. My coke was ALL ice.

The sweet potato soup had a puréed, baby‑food texture, but the flavor itself was surprisingly rich and comforting. The star for me was the Tunisian casse‑croûte. The flavors were incredible; the albacore was tender and seasoned just right, the salata mechouia added this smoky, roasted pepper depth, and the pickled egg brought the perfect tangy brightness. The arugula gave it a fresh, peppery lift, and the harissa aioli tied everything together with a warm, subtle heat. The fries on top added the best crunchy contrast. I was reminiscing about a sandwich I got and decided to order some lunch from here . I ordered a California turkey croissant but subbed for gluten free Kaiser roll. I also ordered the Greek salad. I was a little hesitant because when I order sandwiches or wraps from other places for delivery they arrive soggy but I was pleasantly surprised because everything was intact. I'm picky with deli meat since I just can't stand some after taste of certain deli meats but I don't know how to explain it the turkey and cheese tasted "clean" . You were able to taste every topping on the sandwich separately and together it just came together perfectly. It was a hefty portion too looking like a real life healthy krabby patty. I can't wait to have it for dinner and hoping I get the chance to come in and try other items on their menu. Come and enjoy a falafel!" It was 1984, I worked at the Florida Bookstore and was sitting out back in the courtyard behind Chaucer's during my lunch break. That's when I heard those words. It was a smiling man sticking his head out of a kitchen window behind Cafe Gardens, which shared the courtyard with Chaucer's. "...enjoy a falafel!" "A flawhatel?" I asked. The man was Ghassan Chehab, and after serving me my first ever falafel, I ate there nearly every day. He soon moved out of the small shared-kitchen window to the famous 13th and University location, next to Burrito Brothers and Goerings Book Center - which I eventually moved to myself - and a block from my house. Falafel sandwich, spinach pie, strawberry-banana smoothie, and complimentary baklava - that was my go-to meal, always accompanied by great conversation with Ghassan. I left Gainesville in 1992 and The King moved out to Butler Plaza. I returned there a number of years later and was not only delighted to see the place still existed, but it was as good as ever! Ghassan was no longer there in person, but he certainly was in spirit. I continue to eat there whenever I pass anywhere near Gainesville, and always take home a bundle full of the falafel and pies.
