Great local place for subs with a pub atmosphere. I've only gotten the sandwiches here but they stand out from the crowd of your usual suspect chain sub places like subway and Jimmy John's. This would also be a great place to grab a beer and watch and game if you're in the middle for that. The sandwiches are fresh with the meat sliced when you order the sandwich. This is a cash only place so be aware of that. There is an atm if you don't have cash on hand. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area for lunch and in the mode for a sandwich. I recommend getting the sandwich toasted, but there is an option to get it cold.

These are some seriously good sandwiches! Gainesville's hidden gem. Family run since 1983. Super casual with a few tables inside and a bar in the back. Lunch time gets crowded so plan accordingly. Deli meat and all the ingredients are so fresh and sandwiches are made to order, so you may have to wait...trust me...it is so worth it! Cash only, no credit cards.

I have no idea how Hogan's is only a 4.1... this is the best place ever! Best all time sandwiches, best beer selection. Visit the bomb shelter... you won't regret it. Cash only. Locals place. Been going to hogans for close to 30 years, as a student and now every time we are back in Gville.

    The #1, best sandwich ever!

Honestly, the best sub sandwiches around! Yes, it is a cash only place. Yes, having each individual sandwich made to order can be a slow process. And yes, this place will not win awards for fine dining establishment for its ambiance or decor. But it will always win best sandwich around in my book. Every sandwich is so generously stuffed with meat and cheese, to the point of bursting through the bread and the butcher paper keeping everything together. The condiments, meat, cheese, and veg work so well together. If you want something quick, go to Subway. But if you want something epic and delicious, go to Hogan's. It is, and always will be, worth the wait. Keep up the good work! :)

One of the most fresh sandwiches I have ever had. The bread was soft, the veggies were fresh, cheese and meats are sliced thin and STACKED. Prices are unbelievably reasonable. This is a CASH or local check establishment only. The line is slow moving, if you are in a hurry I recommend calling your order in. Drink refills are $1 each.

Ham and Turkey special came with a side and a drink for $8!

Not much to look at from the outside, but inside they are serving up some killer sandwiches at pretty reasonable prices. I stopped in for lunch and got the lunch special which was ham and turkey on a hoagie with a side and drink for $8! The meat on my sandwich was piled high, great deal and it was delicious too!! Would definitely recommend. This is a cash only establishment!

This sandwich spot was so delicious. I am big on sandwiches. They did not shy on the meat that they placed on the sandwich and was super hearty. The ambiance of Hogans gave an old school hope in the wall feel which I love! I think that the service could have been a bit more friendly but really enjoyed my sandwich.

My friend and I met after we parked our bikes. She was sitting outside, and as I was locking my bike, less than a block away, she texted me. I just walked to her without responding, and with a smile and a hug, we walked in to look at the menu. The sandwiches have some very creative names that go along with their creative construction. I got a #10, which was a fusion of French dip and Philly cheese!! I wanna buy the person a beer, whoever thought of that one! Even though it was busy, we didn't wait long to order. Every sandwich comes in a paper bag, so you can take it out or stay and munch. We got a combo with chips and a drink, because how else do you eat a big sandwich like this?! There are board games to play, decor that is not typical and a big display of Guy Fieri, from the Food Network, that lets you know this place is on America's culinary map. After the sandwiches were done, I brought them out to my friend Kimberly, who was saving our table. We both were hungry, so out of the wrap and in with the teeth. Mine was full of flavor and the fact that all the sandwiches are heat-pressed, made the texture very satisfying. The au jus was thick and delicious and made me think someone took great time and effort to make it. It is a casual restaurant, great for a date or a group of friends, or a solo quick lunch, that can also be a dinner as well. The food is somewhat pricey, but it delivers as a good meal with a creative touch. They could have emptied the garbage can more quickly, as it was more than overflowing, when I went to throw the garbage away. Memorable food, and makes me want to come back to try at least two other sandwiches that I read about.

Their menu offers a great variety of fresh, no-frills sandwiches that hit the spot every time. The quality of the ingredients shines through, and you can taste the care they put into each order. Their breakfast sandwiches, in particular, are a standout--perfectly cooked and satisfying without being overly heavy. I always get a egg and bacon when I go and onion rings . This time I ventured out and tried a bacon cheeseburger and it was incredible. My next item will have to be a patty melt and a milkshake or soda float. The service is friendly and fast, making it an ideal choice for a quick bite during a busy day. The retro atmosphere adds a nostalgic charm that makes you feel right at home. It's a refreshing change from chain restaurants, offering a unique local experience that keeps people coming back. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the parking can be a little tricky during peak hours, and I wish there were seating options in case you want to stay and chill for a bit and not eat in your car but I get it's not ideal do to their location. Depending on the day and whose cooking the quality might be different which is what I experience sometimes. Good to note that if you come on a weekend the line might be longer than usual and it might take longer than on a weekday morning. That said, it's a fantastic spot with delicious food and great vibes.

Located in midtown, this appears to a fast casual place that caters towards college students. They serve "Greek" street food, salads, quesadillas, burgers, and more. The food is relatively inexpensive. Service is fine, actually the people working there are friendly. Food is made to order and comes out quickly. There is some seating available inside (it's limited) but there are plenty of tables in the hall. I ordered the Street Chicken Souvlaki which included grilled chicken with tomato, onion, fries inside a pita, topped with ketchup and mustard. This was a very large portion. The pita was good, but pretty much fell apart the second I picked it up. While I liked the chicken, it was over seasoned and I didn't care for the "sauced" quality of it. I'm not sure if they marinated it or tossed it in some sauce, but it was too much. The fries were decent, but not super crispy. I felt that they were not necessarily and a little over-the-top. The tomato was fresh and but the red onion slices were very thick. The mustard and ketchup didn't work with the seasonings on the chicken. The dish was just all over the place and I couldn't even finish half of it before I started feeling sick. I ordered a side of onion rings as well. This was a large order and the size was great. But these onion rings were over-battered and were fresh, but not crispy at all. I bit into one and ended up pulling out the whole onion rings. Not good. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience. The food was so heavy and overly salted I couldn't even eat half of it. I ended up giving it to a homeless person on the way out. The food left my stomach in shambles the rest of the day. Service is fine. But the food is not desirable. It is safe to say I will not be returning, which is unfortunate.

So yeah, expectations were not exactly low. I pulled up and kept it simple. Cheeseburger, fries, large iced tea. No need to get cute when you're dealing with a place that's been doing one thing longer than most people have had careers. Let's start with the burger, because wow. This thing absolutely delivers. Cooked to order, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and hits that sweet spot where you take a bite and immediately understand why people won't shut up about it. Five out of five, no notes, no complaints. This is the kind of burger that makes you question every overpriced, overbuilt "gourmet" burger you've ever had. This is how it's supposed to be done. And then... the fries showed up. Hot? Yes. Fresh? Seemed like it. But somehow they pulled off the impressive trick of being both hot and soggy at the same time. It's like they skipped the part where fries are supposed to have texture. Total letdown, especially sitting next to a burger that's basically winning awards in my head. The iced tea did its job. No drama there. So here's where I land. The burger alone is worth the trip. It lives up to the legend, no exaggeration. But those fries dragged the whole experience down just enough to knock it to four stars. Mac's is this close to perfection. Fix the fries, and we're not even having a conversation. Right now, it's a legendary burger with a side of "what happened here?"

The person that goes to a fancy restaurant and while everyone else is ordering the shrimp or ribs or a steak and you're ordering a burger. You know who you are and I'm one of you. This burger literally BLEW my mind. I've tried other smash burgers, but this one was actually executed PERFECTLY. What is the difference? A true "smash" burger is done just that way on the grill so that every crack, every crevice on that grill gets crispy and delicious. And the bread they use here? Soft and pillowy with just the right amount of give and chew. They literally toast the inside of EVERY bun! And not that little tiny throw onto the grill for a second or two...that nice hard grill that makes the butter hard crisp the bread so you get that crunch inside with the nice pillow outside. Shred the lettuce so it's on every bite and not falling out before you take those bites. Perfection. Added some Big Mill's sauce and wow. Just plain yellow American cheese is fine with me. I'm no cheese snob. Next time? I'm definitely enjoying a double. Just wanted to try the entire kraut dog for myself. Worth it. That grill crisped bun on the dog was soooo good. I want it on a double smashburger next time! The staff comes and checks with you and brings you your food when ready. Asks if everything was okay and if you need any sauces or utensils. That is so surprising every time to me. Well worth every single penny I've spent here. The attention to exact details and the comfort and hominess this place exudes along with the selection of awesome 60s and early 70s music (which is exactly from my era) they play is the reason we'll keep coming back over and over again.
