Definitely would recommend this place for late night eats. Highly recommend for the ambiance at night. I don't think it is worth going in the morning. Food: Surprisingly their pork chops are superb here. Just the right amount of crispiness and its not dry at all. Otherwise their coffee is average and their eggs taste just like eggs you'd expect out of a diner. Pricing is super reasonable for the food you get. So I've been to this Waffle House two since my 2 years of living in Blacksburg. I don't see why people rate this place so harshly. People shouldn't expect this place to have top-notch quality food especially since this is a chain diner restaurant. Out of the two times I've been here it's been good. This could have been due to it being not crowded or the cooks working were on point. Nonetheless, I've had a good time being here. When it comes to breakfast food I'm not really a fan. I chose to get the pecan waffles with chocolate chips. The waffles had the characteristics of a good waffle which is: slight crunchy exterior and a pillowy soft interior. Waffle House is the spot to be when it's 2am and you're looking for some comfort food. I got take out here late night and the order was ready pretty quickly. My go to here is the chocolate waffles, which is really just some chocolate chips that melt on top of a hot waffle.. but trust me it tastes better than it sounds. I am a regular at this restaurant. I called to place an order and the lady set the phone down and never picked back up, I waited on the phone for about 5 minutes listening to the background noise in the restaurant, did not sound busy, so I hung up Undeterred, I went in to place an order in person and the server/cashier yelled at me to tell me someone was waiting on a booth being cleared. I told her I was placing an order to go. I tried to place my order. fiesta omelet with hash browns, she interrupted me and said "we are not doing omelets today, machines broke." The other server suggested they could do it the "old fashioned way" and the server cashier turned and shook her head. I changed my order to a sausage and egg sandwich and hash browns , cooked in the ring to stay round and crispy, she said " we have no rings, can't do it" I had placed the order for a fiesta omelet w/ hash browns cooked in the ring three days ago by phone, to be picked up at the same store and they had no problem with the order. So, frustrated, I told the lady it seems like she wanted to say " no" today, so I left. Very disappointed, worst Waffle House experience I have ever had. Super negative attitude, unhelpful and rude. Huge difference from what I am accustomed to from that location. Lastly, the poor woman at the register only had about 5 teeth and her breath about knocked me over across the counter/register. While I do not have any complaints about the quality of food that was served here, I do have an issue with the staffing and efficiency that this particular Waffle House is being run. Somehow, there were roughly 3 employees at the time I came in (a late Sunday morning) which is generally a rather busy time for restaurants that serve breakfast. The wait time was rather long as it was very busy at the time, and it goes without saying that our food subsequently took even longer to arrive. Somehow, there were employees that kept coming in while we we finally received our food and by the time we were about done, a little after noon, there were more than a dozen employees behind the small counter. I am not sure why they would staff so few employees in the morning hours and have so many people come in to just sit around while there are no people in the restaurant. 5/10 would recommend read more

I don't think the food is like the BEST (tbh iHOP might have better breakfast foods), but a good place to get some food and make mems with friends. As a college student who gets hungry at atypical times at night, Waffle House is a good restaurant to go to. However that's one of the very few things WH has going for it. During my most recent visit, I ordered triple hash browns covered (cheese), diced (tomatoes), and peppered (jalapeños) and they were decent at best. The hash browns were buttery but the cheese on top covered just a small square of the triple that I ordered. It was one of those times that I got through a dish because I was hungry and not because I really enjoyed it. The waffles, on the other hand, are great. Note that if you order chocolate chips on your waffle, they come sprinkled on top of the waffle and not in the batter. The service is nice and checked on us periodically, but one thing that WH does that set my friend off is that they give you your bill as soon as your food gets to the table. It adds urgency to the dining experience and discourages people from ordering more. Pricing is decent for waffles and hash browns but the other meals are on the pricy side for the quantify of food you get. I'm always disappointed by the waffles at Waffle House but I absolutely love their omelettes! If you order the right things (cheddar and ham omelette, for example) you'll have a good time. Their biscuits and gravy are pretty tasty too. The service here is roughly average. They were going through some growing pains for a while and seem to have narrowed down their employees to the people who actually know what they're doing, so they have that going for them. If you've never been to a Waffle House, give it a try so you can say you've been. If you've gone to one and are craving it? Go and get your cravings satisfied. After 30 min, we went in to ask to make sure we weren't skipped over and the hostess said she didn't see our reservation because it was on the next page...brushed that off. Got our table aka ONE booth that can sit four max. The hostess didn't care and said we can either split up or squeeze in. There weren't any tables available at the time so all seven squeezed in. The table next to us opened up after we had placed our order and so we asked if we could now split up..surprise, the hostess denied our request saying other customers are waiting and looked like she could careless. First of all, we have waited 45 min prior to being seated, so shouldn't we get priority? Secondly, she was the one that gave us the option to split up in the first place and now we can't even do that? Some of us ended up having to eat with the plate on our laps. That, I cannot brush off. Our waiter, Alan. Two words, terrible service. We specifically asked to split the checks, did that wrong. Asked for water, never came so had to request from another waitress. Never refilled our waters. Never checked up on us once. Food was cold by the time he served us. Did not have a good attitude whatsoever. I have been to this waffle house location dozens of times, and today I was finally inspired to write a review. This place truly amazes me. As much of a waffle house fan as I am, I really think this location takes the cake. Today, I went and got a fairly usual order for me, the texas bacon patty melt with no onions, and the hashbrowns country. They have never gotten this wrong for me before, but today the patty melt came out with onions on it anyway. As soon as I noticed they had made a mistake, I realized that it wasn't a mistake, but they in fact knew what I wanted today better than I did, and this was one of my best visits ever here. Ate here a few days ago. I found more than a few strands of hair in my hashbrowns which absolutely ruined my appetite. Why don't the staff here wear hairnets? This place is new and it needs work. Not up to our usual consistent WH experience. The cooks spent most of their time talking about who they drank with the night before and one of them did not know any of the dishes that were more than eggs and bacon. The servers were great. One lady spent most of her time telling the cooks how to make the more 'complicated' dishes. People were getting their sides 10-15 mins after their eggs. My friends and I came in here and every open seat was at a dirty table. We waited patiently and nothing happened so we just sat at the bar, which was also dirty. We waited about 15 minutes until my friend said that we were ready to order. She said "I'm sorry, we don't serve people who sit at dirty tables." And served the people beside us who ALSO sat at the dirty bar and came in after us. My friends and I are all servers, and we understand it's not easy and would've gladly tipped her very well if she decided to serve us. My typical order, two eggs sunny side up, grits and raisin toast, is a test of the cook, waitress's listening comprehension and of the gritsatudinosity. This Casa passed with flying colors. We had a $6 bacon egg and cheese biscuit with hash browns, a side of bacon and chocolate chip pancakes. My meal was great. The biscuit was amazing and fluffy. However the waffles were undercooked. Also the restaurant was a dive. It wasn't the cleanest place nor had fantastic service. It is great for a college town and catering to the college crowd or quick takeout but don't expect gourmet food. It is what it is meant to be...a greasy spoon.
