Inconsistent and delicious. Love me some Roots, but man.. they love to keep you guessing. Sometimes you get 8-9oz of protein, sometimes you get 4-5oz. Sometimes they can barely put the lid on the bowl, sometimes the bowl is half full. If I ever become president, my first course of action is mandating all food chains to weigh their protein servings. Good for business, good for customers. Gonna have to wash this one down with a can of tuna. God bless.

Everything I was looking for. Easy vegan swaps, clean tables, massive portions, and friendly service. Their predefined bowls are creative and packed with flavorful ingredients. I went with the Apollo, removing feta/chicken and adding bbq tofu. Delicious vegan meal, made easy. My daughter had the miso tofu which was also very good. This was a dinner that checked every box!

I recently went to roots for the first time this weekend, and I was not disappointed! I customized by own bowl, which I highly recommend if you're a pickier person, it was amazing. I usually am skeptical about tofu when I go out but the bbq tofu was amazing, definitely my favorite part!

Perfect spot if you're looking for somewhere quick, easy, and on the healthier side with quality ingredients. You can choose from a signature bowl (which you can still make substitutions) or customize your own, both made assembly style. Bowls range in price from about $10-$12. I had the Athena. It has brown rice, arugula, olives, cranberries, pita chips, red onions, cucumber, shrimp and pita chips with lemon dill dressing. I actually had it two days in a row! It was light and fresh. While I devoured it all in one meal, you could stretch it and get two out of a dish. Bon appetit.

Had the El Jefe here. Pretty good although it just reminds me of another Mezeh or Chipotle. The chicken has a nice grilled taste and the sauces are tasty - although I wouldn't say they make the dish healthy at all. It was $11 for the grain bowl and honestly it's a little pricey in my opinion and it doesn't seem healthier than Chipotle and Mezeh with the added sauces and chicken (if you get it with chicken). It's definitely filling though. The tea here is also okay. I think I'd prefer to go to my usual Chipotle instead of Roots but it's still a tasty place to eat at, just don't expect that huge of a difference from the Mezeh and Chipotle near it.

I have lived in Blacksburg my whole life and ODB has been a go-to bakery for most locals for a while. Serving a variety of pastries, cakes, breads, and offering lunch, brunch, and dinners. They have a lovely variety of options for customers to enjoy. The bakery primarily serves French pastries and caters to French cuisine at their meals. Although they offer more than just French inspired food. In the past, my family and I have enjoyed grabbing their cakes for celebrations and individual pastries from their pastries case. But recently, they have not been up to par and have left us very unsatisfied. The cakes have been dry and do not taste fresh at all. On my latest visit I tried a couple of things, all of which were cold, with dry, crumbly textures. It was evident to me that these pastries were not made day-of and had clearly sat in a fridge for at least one night (if not more). I found this to be extremely disappointing as ODB used to have a reputation of serving FRESH baked goods and pastries. I cannot attest for the hot food they serve during meal times, but the pastries and cakes have gone down hill. Over the winter break, I had their NY cheesecake bar (which I've gotten in the past and it was phenomenal) and it fell so short of what I remembered. It was lacking flavor and the crust at the bottom was dry. This past visit, I tried a Napoleon (also have had this before and really enjoyed it), a specialty cake, a scone, and a couple macarons and macaroons. The Napoleon was so cold and the puff pastry was super stale, it practically fell apart the second I tried to eat it. The specialty individual cake slice was also very cold and the cake wasn't moist at all. Again, indicating it was not fresh or made day-of. The scone was also a disappointment as it was dry and lacked any moisture. I thought the macrons and macaroons were fine though. While most of this was disappointing, the price didn't help either. Nothing was inexpensive and the quality was completely missing. So disappointing to leave this review as I used to enjoy coming here for sweet treats. It's sad to see that ODB is unfortunately not what it used to be. I will note that the service is very friendly and they do their best dealing with customers. Could have been more efficient, but I did go during a busier time. I hope they can turn things around, but until then I do not think I will be retuning soon.

It was in the offing seemingly forever and they're still working the kinks out, with some of the noodles being unavailable when I checked, as well as their tea. By and large, I have not seen Asian cuisines in the fast casual world; Chipotle tried to get a spinoff called Shophouse going but it never really took off. The poke bowl places are the only ones I can think of that have really succeeded in this niche. Junzi promises some legitimately Chinese flavors, and it did deliver. The knife cut springy wheat noodles were thankfully back in stock when I decided to order, and they have a delightful texture. To fill out a bowl, a few vegetable options are available, and two different types of tofu are among the proteins. I found the griddled tofu mouthwatering and it did have a nicely crisped edge. The suite of other options was not huge but did include some nice things like Mandarin oranges and bok choy. I got a salad and a noodle bowl, and having skipped breakfast, was able to scarf down both bowls. The salad doesn't make a meal by itself is what I'm saying. I see some room for improvement in the menu, but when I've looked for literally anything Chinese and vegetarian-friendly in Southwest Virginia, I have not found much worth my time. The sauces and ingredients here delivered the taste I was hoping for.

The Cellar has a basement bar. We snagged a few bar seats. The bar server was great. He provided us waters. He quickly took our cocktail orders and made some very delicious cocktails. My sour apple martini was so good that that a second one was in front of me quickly. One of us ordered a full sandwich meal and that sandwich looked humongous and full of meat. We also ordered sides of curly fries. These were fried fresh. It's somewhat of a dark speakeasy vibe. The crowd was tame compared to some of the other bars down the street. We hope to try the full restaurant in our next visit.

Each pita bread was absolutely loaded with beef - I mean completely stuffed When you'd pick it up, even without a first bite, the beef would already be falling out, and this would continue throughout the eating process until there was an accumulation of pieces on the plate. Due to how packed this was, each bite was like 80% beef. Some may not like this, but because the beef was pretty flavorful, I loved it - you really get your moneys worth with this Since there was so much meat on the sandwich, I really didn't taste much of the other toppings - like olives, onions, peppers, and spinach. There was a little bit of cheese but I felt like there could've been more The lettuce was definitely there but I didn't like how it was just in two huge pieces rather than evenly distributed across in smaller pieces The mostly-beefness did make the flavor a bit one-note as there weren't really many differing flavors in the different bites Lastly, the tzatziki sauce was pretty good - it was a bit unequally distributed but there was a good amount of it - and it certainly was present in most bites For the price of around 15 dollars, this much food is really good. I might recommend getting the 12 inch and splitting it among two people so it'd be pretty cheap per person
