Recently visited the Christiansburg, Va First Watch restaurant location. I was in town visiting my college student. Before we entered the restaurant there was a sign on the door which read one of their grills were down and a list of items were not available. The sign was very confusing b/c there were items marked out so we weren't sure if that meant they were available or not. So we took our chances. We were immediately sat and drink orders taken. Received our drinks very quickly and we asked to order the Trifecta I believe it's what is called with French toast. The waitress said they didn't have French Toast due to the grill being out of order. Our little hearts were broken b/c they have the best French toast in town. I am leaving a 4 star review not because we didn't get french toast but because the 8.5x11 white sheet of paper on the front of their door was confusing to read and you couldn't tell what was available and what wasn't. Next time I am in town visiting my student we will definitely return and try again. read more

Second time visiting, first time wasn't great so I'm glad I tried again before leaving a review. First time our food was cold/greasy, could have been the time of day/cooks, but this most recent was redeemed by the food and service. This time we sat outside since the weather was beautiful and arrive was quick. For the smoked ham & Gruyère sandwich and the tradition breakfast. Just the right amount of food and a healthy alternative to other options in the area. For the price, the quality is worth the money. Definitely going back! read more

Best place in town to get a waffle for breakfast. Highly recommend ordering the Trifecta- eggs, waffle and bacon! It hits the spot. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly and professional. Great service! Good way to start your day. The menu has a lot of options and everyone will find something. My only feedback is that they don't have Splenda for coffee. One star because I sat there for 10 minutes and the waitress finally walked up and told me that she would be with me in a minute. I waited another 5 minutes and I saw her how she brought boxes and helped the table next to mine but she never brought me water, coffee or anything for that matter. She never got hooked so I had to stay. I figured the service would get worst and I just walked out. I have been a waiter before so I understand that people get busy. But if you are making trips to the table close to one another, bring something with you. Ask your co-worker to take the order on your behalf, something. Just don't make people wait 15 minutes with no drinks or food. We come because we are hungry not to sit there and look at the ceiling. read more

Recently visited First Watch while in town for my son's graduation from VT. I would love to visit again on an off day and not a graduation weekend. The food was absolutely delicious and pleasing to the eye. I enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere of this place, even played with the sidewalk chalk outside. Service was great for this visit considering the large crowd. We had about an hour wait for a table and then took about an additional 30min from being seated to actually receiving food. Again, it was graduation weekend and the crowd was quite large, so that was not weighted in my review. read more

I had the Bacado Omelette for breakfast. Omelette was tasty. The mixed greens salad were ok. I didn't care for the dressing. I did love the fresh seed bread and jam which accompanied it. Also ordered a side of bacon which my 9 year old said was great. Fantastic service by Carl. Would have given 5 stars but the hostesses were a bit grumpy...zero smiles or efforts to be polite. On our visit to Blacksburg we ate breakfast in Christiansburg. This place is amazing! It was a difficult decision to make about what to order! It all looked so good! Hubby got a blueberry muffin, home fries ( perfectly seasoned) and bacon. I got the Brussel sprout hash with egg whites on top. It was delicious and filling. Where we were traveling I couldn't take the leftovers. The coffee was hot and rich and they actually had stevia for our coffee, so that was a plus! My party of four got on a waitlist at 10 am and were not helped until 11:45. We got our food around 12:35. They were very busy because of the college game day. Overall the service was okay. Refills were self served by a pitcher and all the food was brought out at once. As far as the food, the toast was a little too crunchy and thick. The portions were a 4/5, the main course omelette was very small and disappointing. Potatoes were mid but serviceable. The French toast was excellent, the thickness and texture was very good. I would recommend this place if it wasn't so expensive and didn't have such a long wait. Until that's fixed I'd look elsewhere in Christianburg. read more

I would like to start by saying our server did her best to make our experience enjoyable and acknowledged how behind everything was. Beyond that, our time at this restaurant was textbook what NOT to do when running a business. We used the app to reserve a place in line, for four, at 12:15pm, at which time the app stated our wait would be approximately 30 minutes. We arrived at around 12:35. We checked in and took a seat near the host stand. We then proceeded to wait for an hour following our arrival, as we watched multiple parties of two walk in, ask how long the wait was, and be seated immediately. While I understand the design of the restaurant's tables can turn more two top tables, this is a totally unacceptable thing to experience as a party who is waiting much longer than expected. Additionally, while we sat patiently, we did inquire as to our place in line, were told we were fourth, and then watched more than four parties of 3 or more people get seated ahead of us. Never did anyone apologize for the delay, mention being understaffed, or being overbooked. When we finally sat down, our server was nice enough to take our drink and food order immediately and did her best to get our drinks out very quickly. Unfortunately, my food came out cold, and when I mentioned this, it was taken back to the kitchen only for the server to return with my "actual order" which had the eggs overcooked. While this was indeed what I'd ordered, it was not how I'd asked and we were past hour two of whole experience and we all just wanted to leave. We will quite literally never come back to this location and probably any other First Watch as the food there is wholly comparable to other chains available to us in most towns. read more

This is the most consistently bad First Watch I've been to-and I've been to more than a few several times in VA, MD, OH, TN, and FL. This one's on a route off the highway I have to take for work, but I'm going to have to seek out another place. Most of the staff is immature compared to other FW's I've visited. Today, my potatoes and bacon were so salty, I couldn't eat them. They can do scrambled, over hard, and over easy eggs; try to order over medium and you'll either get mucous-y whites with cool yolk or a completely cooked through egg. I tried ordering 3 different dishes there on 4 separate occasions and there's always something bad. It's sad because I seek First Watch out due to the higher quality food, but that doesn't apply here. read more

Called ahead for a visit on a Sunday morning around 9am. We were told it was about a fifteen to twenty-minute wait. By the time we arrived, we were told it would only be about five minutes until our table was ready. The estimation proved to be accurate and we were sat shortly after arriving. To drink, I started with the Morning Meditation. First Watch has great fresh juices and this one was super refreshing with lemon juice, orange juice, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar, and beet juice. I'm not a huge beet fan -- so don't worry, it doesn't taste strongly of beet at all! The drink was thirst-quenching and delicious. For breakfast, I had the Market Skillet Hash with over-easy eggs. I modified my dish to exclude the mozzarella and add bacon. The dish was delivered in a reasonable amount of time and was very good -- despite being overly salty. Three or four of our dishes were supposed to include avocado, although no one received any. Upon requesting the missing avocado, we were given four sides of the darkest brown avocado slices I've ever seen. Surely they noticed when they were bringing it out that it didn't look appealing. Needless to say, not much of the avocado was eaten. They were probably better off telling us they were out. I appreciate them leaving it off, to begin with if it was intentional, but we should have been privy to the situation. About halfway through our visit, prior to receiving our food, the lobby piled up with people. It was a total crowd! We were thankful that we called and arrived as early as we did. It seems that the closer it becomes to "brunch" time, is when they get really packed. I would suggest an early breakfast if you don't want to succumb to a long wait time. Our visit was concluded after a short 50 minutes, for a table of five. So hopefully, the wait times weren't long for those in the lobby! read more

This was the 2nd First Watch location I have been to, and neither have disappointed! I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, which are MASSIVE, and very delicious. I also got a side of scrambled eggs to counteract the sweetness from the pancakes, which were served with a sweet lemon curd and syrup, as well as the batter being rather sweet. My boyfriend ordered the Inspired Italian omelet and a side of bacon, which he loved, and ate every bit of. I tried the potatoes that came with his meal and they were delicious, I couldn't stop stealing them off of his plate. We shared a Morning Meditation fresh juice, and my only regret is that we didn't order two! Absolutely delicious and the presentation is beautiful. The service was very fast, but we didn't feel rushed, which is always appreciated. I loved the open feel of the restaurant, very clean and simple but elegant. read more

Two of our three meals had very hard sausage and ham in the omelets which gave them an off taste. Also the eggs were overdone. Out other meal was delicious. The food today I had was not good the barbacoa bowl was sloppy like they had nuked it and given it and the pancake had a meat taste like the cooking utensils weren't clean and my pancake tasted like meat. My pancake was also just off in general today. The drinks are always good. The French toast here is good, the soups, and sandwiches. We frequent a First Watch in FL and visited the Christiansburg location on a busy Clemson weekend. They were very busy and the call ahead seating worked as it should. We were seated immediately and greeted by a friendly waiter shortly thereafter. The food was delicious as always. Amazing pancakes and eggs cooked to perfection. When you walk into a restaurant and there's a full house with people waiting, you know it's going to be good. It was. There were 4 of us and we each had something different: trifecta with waffle and trifecta with pancake; omelet with fresh greens and breakfast sandwich. Every time I come here the food is delicious. I've tried several items and I love the coffee. The service has been excellent.

We are frequent visitors to First Watch. Whenever we travel we will often seek out a First Watch. Spent the day at Tech open house and stopped by for a quick meal on the way out of town. Greeters were a bit offhand. Felt like we were interrupting them. Quoted a 20 min wait. Waited 25 mins for a table. We are currently 30 minutes in waiting for our food to arrive. Service is s l o w. The few tables near us are looking around like we are wondering where the food is. This is a painful experience. Ended up waiting 40 minutes for our food to arrive and it was lukewarm and average at best. Disappointing experience. read more

This is an update to my review in April 2022, in which I gave the place two stars. The underlaying management problem that seems at fault, however, has worsened. We won't be back. What happened today is that our food came out very slowly, and my wife's, which arrived about 10 minutes before mine, was barely warm. Our server was super nice, and apologized repeatedly. She said the kitchen said about my order that they were "working on it." Why did my veggie omlet take so long, and so much longer than my wife's wrap? Another server seemed to get fast orders, and it made us wonder if our server was being punished by the kitchen. She seemed a bit new, but was trying and was sweet. The kitchen is suspect, as well, because the place was almost empty. And we could three or four people milling about in the kitchen. Service has been highly variable here, with some waitstaff in the past seemingly unaware or uncaring that people were waiting--for clean tables, for food. Now the issue seems to have migrated into the kitchen. Until today, the kitchen had been prompt, especially for takeout orders. read more
