1/2 Spinach & Mushroom Omelette.

Even though Michaela was the only server, she was both efficient & kind. The omelette was spectacular and very tasty; great to see the restaurant clean and the GM walking the floor. Even without having much help the two of them made the experience pleasant.

This is in no way me attacking the employees. I know restaurant service jobs are difficult. However, the wait time was forever long. There were 2 of us. We were told it wouldn't be very long, but we ended up waiting 30-45 mins. After we finally got our food, we were disappointed. My breakfast plate was pathetic and sad looking - definitely not work the $12. My best friend got the chicken and waffles, and the chicken was rock hard and it tasted burnt. I love IHOP, but I don't think I'll be returning to this one anytime soon.

Short stack of gluten free pancakes w/ turkey bacon

After catching word that IHOP has a gluten free menu I first tried to go here for Sunday brunch but the wait was over an hour. A month or so later I tried again for breakfast for dinner and had no issue getting a table. Okay #1 don't go here expecting fine dining, because it's just not, but you're also not paying for fine dining. Our server Frankie was personable and attentive and informed us of "Hoppier Hour" which is their dinner special. They had appetizers for $4 and meals for $6, that's a deal I can get behind! I ordered their gluten free pancakes (short stack) with a side of bacon, they were alright but I appreciate that they offer GF options. For 2 of us our bill was around $22 with an appetizer and drink. I was expecting mediocre food and service but was pleasantly surprised.

French Fry's good crispy service is good but the chef made the meat, horrible and the buns so we did it again without another one terrible!

The food was awesome. We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday and Mindy and Anthony made everything so wonderful. By far my favorite place.

Lost in space?) From the shiny chrome restaurant exterior that resembles a space ship, to the menu that has things on it like The Black Hole (a black bean burger) to the Creamy Spudnik Soup (potato cheddar soup, basically). It's all outer space, all the time, at Lost in Taste. I visited Lost in Taste with a group, and we all got a bunch of different things. One of the things that was first on my list to order was a cup of coffee. And even though I was visiting for a late lunch, they had coffee brewed and ready to go. Sweet! That perked me right up. My group got a few different appetizers for the table. We got the Canis Comets, which are huge hush puppies (think palm-sized) served with blackberry jam and round balls of soft, salted butter. They came three to an order, and they were delicious, and definitely enough to feed six people because we cut them in half. Another appetizer we ordered was the Big Bang Shrimp, which was breaded shrimp topped with a drizzle of signature sauce. These were delicious, too! The Big Bang Shrimp come eight to an order. One of the people in our group was a wing aficionado, so we also got the traditional, jumbo, bone-in wings, which are served with chips. There are nine different sauces to choose from, and we got the wings slathered in Jupiter's Storm, a mango habanero sauce. Very good! I don't typically like bone-in wings because I think they are a scam, but I appreciated the sweet and savory flavors of these wings. As for me, I got the Caesar salad (meh) and the B.L.I.T. sandwich: bacon, lettuce, interstellar tomato and mayo. It was very good and huge! If you like bacon, then this is the sandwich for you. Lost in Taste is space themed, but it also has an old-fashioned diner vibe. It's a fun restaurant to visit if you want diner food, and also be surrounded by space.

Bulls & Bones: Burgers, BBQ & Brewpub has a lot of "B" alliteration going on. I felt like a steak when I visited, so I went for it. I got the USDA Angus Sirloin, which comes with two sides (I chose steamed broccoli and fries). The steak and sides were good and simple, which was just what I was feeling like that night. I visited Bull & Bones with a group of people, and we ordered a few appetizers to share, so I got to taste some things on the menu. First of all, we got complimentary potato chips for the table. Sweet! We also ordered the fried pickles (not my thing, but people were going off on them). Also, we got two orders of the wings: one was boneless wings with buffalo sauce, and the other was regular bone-in wings with Caroline Gold sauce. My favorite were the wings with Carolina Gold sauce, because of the flavor. They were so savory and slightly sweet. For dessert, we got the warm cookie with two scoops of ice cream (yum!) and the blueberry lemon cake, which didn't look like much but tasted amazing. A little bit of dessert goes a long way, and I think you could get away with sharing a dessert, for sure. The ambiance at Bulls & Bones is casual. It's a sit-down restaurant, but it's not fancy at all.

It's a relatively new restaurant that is still finding its footing (the decor and indoor environment are slowly evolving, the menu will grow every now and then, etc.), but the food has always been solid. The pricepoints are probably higher than a lot of college students would prefer to be paying, but still reasonable. The burgers are good, the fried chicken sandwiches are excellent, and the fries are some of the best in town in my opinion. All of the meat is halal, so it's been a great place to visit with my friends who can only eat halal food. Black Salt is owned and operated by the same guy who opened FOAM-O, and he definitely has a clear vision for what he wants it to be. I'm a fan of the place, and think its worth checking out for those who haven't yet!

The patio seating is also beautiful, and we sat and watched a storm roll in while enjoying our brews. We didn't try the food, but the table next to us seemed to really enjoy the food. Last time we got some of their pretzels as an app, but they were more like pretzel sticks that you warm up from frozen. Not taste bad, but just not a big pretzel like I had expected. Word of warning: the Sunday Brunch menu is actually a breakfast menu with limited choices. Last time I checked, lunch items were not available on Sundays. Service was slow. $45 for my steak which was no better than I could make at home which isn't what I expect for that price. I ordered medium rare and got medium well. Greens were not very good tasted left over. Got to dessert, they had about 6 options. My son wanted the chocolate mousse cake and the waiter said they were out of that and two other desserts. Again there were maybe 3 groups eating there and they are running out of food. Chairs were those old cloth covered chairs from 1980s restaurants. I will not be returning and to the Hokies this is not a celebration place.
