Where to start? Started with a 37 minute wait for our food. There were a max of 5 other tables in the whole place. All to go food had priority over dining in. Gravy is literally the most plain white gravy with sliced up sausage links. Neither had any flavor whatsoever. Glassware was dirty, silverware was still wet when it was rolled and the whole set and napkin was wet when we finally got it. Needed it about 10 minutes earlier to stir my husband's coffee, but there is no hustle in this place whatsoever. Looked like the whole crew needed an IV of B-12. Got to hear about how one waitress got new star tattoos all over her face and got the f bomb from the kitchen back to a different waitress when BOH couldn't read and order and shorted the order 3 eggs over easy. Crowning touch? Walking back to the truck for something I forgot and realizing 2 spots over was an employees vehicle with fresh puke right outside the door. Either they puked and rallied and went to work recently, or they stepped in someone else's and traipsed it right into the restaurant. Almost didn't eat breakfast when it finally arrived after that. Honestly, if you're looking on Yelp you probably know not to go to Denny's, I hadn't been in 25+ years and it won't happen again. Only came in because we were ignored while waiting to order elsewhere and thought we'd give it a try.

The booths are also very comfortable and with very nice ceiling lamps to provide a bright space in which to enjoy a good meal.

This was the first time that I visit this Denny's on 3429 Orange Ave in Roanoke, Virginia, and what a surprise did I get. First of all, the interior design of the restaurant is very modern and clean, yet at the same time very warm with the use of hardwood floors, wood and black tables and chairs, and red booths seats. All the windows and the interior lighting treatment also provide for a relaxed environment and feeling of comfort and joy. But what was even more amazing were the servers of the place. They all have a positive attitude and personality and you can see they enjoy providing exceptional customer service to their customers. My host / server greeted me with a warm smile as soon as I arrived and gave me a warm welcome like very few that I have evered experienced before. Suddenly this chain restaurant didn't feel like one but rather like a local restaurant that when you visit it your are made to feel like home with the warm hospitality provided. My waitress was so open and natural that made me feel so comfortable in a place that I visited for the very first time. She was so friendly and knowledgeable at the same time. I had just joined their app and she not only explained the discounts I would get today but went through the process at the end to help me get them. When I first arrived she took me to a booth, which by the way was very comfortable and nice looking in it's design. She provided me with a copy of the menu, and asked what I wanted to drink, if coffee or orange juice? Since I was eating and early dinner I asked for an orange juice. Then I had time to review the extensive menu with color photographs of some of the menu items done very professionally yet at the same time very colorful and fun. Since I love chorizo, I ordered the Santa Fe Skillet, which sounded very attractive and looked even better in the menu photograph. It arrived in a sizzling hot skillet and looked and tasted amazingly delicious. My server not only brought it to me but celebrated the dish very highly. She was able to put excitement in my dining experience. For dessert dessert my server recommended a slice of Pecan Pie that wasn't even in the menu and when I asked if it came with Ice Cream she answered: "I can arrange that." Then at the end, when I asked for the bill my server tooked me to the cashier station and showed me how to find the coupon on the app in my cellphone to scan for a discount for becoming a member of Denny's. One thing I can tell you, the Denny's of the present and the future is nothing like the Denny's of the past. It has grown with the times for the better. I highly recommend this Denny's in particular for a place to have an enjoyable dining experience alone, or even better with family and friends and I give my compliments to the manager of the restaurant and corporate for doing such a great job in assembling all that is needed to provide an extraordinary dining experience. Good ambiance, good food, and excellent service. What else can we ask for!

It was Thanksgiving night at a hotel and I wanted a late night snack. Thank god Denny's is open 24/7, even on a holiday. I called Denny's to confirm they were open and a lovely lady named Tina answered the phone. She told me they were open for the holiday. I ordered a late night snack of chicken fingers and a garden salad through Uber Eats. It was delayed arriving to the hotel due to the holiday, but it did finally arrive and it was delicious. The chicken fingers were cooked perfectly and the garden salad was wonderful. Denny's is a part of my childhood just like everyone else. My parents took me there for dinner and breakfast as a child, and it is always a favorite among college students after a long night of drinking and partying. The ambiance is casual and makes you feel like you are at home. The service is always on point and the food is always exceptional. Denny's will never go out of style and is always a family favorite, so I'm so glad this has been around for so many years, and will continue to be around as long as they are families and late night college students looking for a bite after partying. You can never go wrong with Denny's.

You'll notice friendly personnel upon entering. Most of them will know you from coming through there many times. The seating is open and handicap friendly. You can see the prep area from the seats and you'll find it clean and fresh. The menu has increased like most places since the virus but you get more than enough food for what you pay. Diner food is cooked as you order it so if you love breakfast for dinner like we do, stop in for an omelet or fresh pancakes! Great family place to stop, affordable and fresh!

Ernie's on the Market is owned and operated by Bill Kopcial, a former Roanoke City firefighter and his business partner Scotty Smith. They are wonderful individuals. Bill always greets me when I'm having breakfast and he stops by. Just the other day, I ran into him and his family at McAlister, where they were having dinner. My usual breakfast there is two fried eggs over easy, with bacon, homefries, and white toast. I also enjoy their omelets. On weekdays they are one of the few restaurants that open at 6:00AM, so it gives you an opportunity to get a head start of the day. The server is a very friendly and hospitable young lady, who is always looking after her customers to see if they need a coffee refill or would like a glass of iced water to enjoy with their food. Today I had the usual breakfast. No matter how the cook prepares my breakfast, it always tastes so good. The white Texas toast is always fresh and soft, and the eggs and bacon tastes just right. I also enjoy looking at the historic photographs on the brick wall and their flamboyant decor. Their prices are reasonable enough to be able to leave a well deserved good tip. And one always leaves the place with a good feeling.

This dinner is housed in an old but well maintained tiny building on Church Ave SW in the heart of Downtown Roanoke. Opened 24 hours, 7 days a week, it is one of the few places where you can go have breakfast, lunch, or dinner, any time during the day. For this review I decided to wake up early in the morning and go visit it while it was still dark outside. You know turning an everyday event like having breakfast into a one of a kind adventure. As I arrived I was impressed to see this old, small, brick building, very well maintained, painted white, and very well lit all around and highlighted with a red neon light all around it on top. There were two men talking in the corner outside and one inside talking to the employee there and who was just about to leave. The decor of the restaurant was that of an old American dinner. After all, it first opened in the 1930's, but very well kept throughout all these years, and extremely well clean. Even the counter and ten red stools had that antique look, but nice and clean. It was like stepping back in time, very surreal, with even a working Coke machine inside. Here they only take cash as payment, but to remind you of the present, it contained an ATM machine inside a corner inside to help you have access to cash. At this time there was only one employee working there, but he was so welcoming and with such a nice personality and positive attitude in life. He started working here 5 years ago, around the time of covid, after having to change jobs, but has loved and enjoyed this job ever since; and it showed. The dinner was full of signs on the walls, including the menus. One of my favorites was a cartoon that said "Texas Tavern HOME of the CHEESY WESTERN." Another said: "Since 1930 we serve only H&C Brand Coffee. They also had for sale some souvenirs of the place, including a book with the title of Texas Tavern Four Generations of Millionaires Club by Shari L. Dragovich. It was $23 and signed by the author. For breakfast, I ordered from the Club Breakfast Menu, 3 Eggs over easy, Bacon, and White Toast with Butter, and a cup of coffee. The eggs were small but had the yellow color of fresh farm eggs and tasted the same, and their white toast was fresh and soft, from Flowers, with butter spread on them that made them taste just wonderful. Sometimes it is the simple things in life that bring the most joy. The cup of coffee with cream and sugar was nice and hot and tasted amazing. I enjoyed talking with Ryan, the employee, while having my breakfast, and am looking forward to return to have their famous Cheesy Western, Hotdog Chile, Hotdog, and Burger. In this little hometown restaurant I had one of the best breakfast dining experiences of my life. Very memorable indeed. I highly recommend this place to all of you reading my review. Open daily from Monday through Friday, it is one of the few restaurants around that opens the earliest for breakfast, at 6AM, and closes at 1:30PM. Today, I decided to re-visit the place for an early breakfast, since it has plenty of free offstreet parking up to 8AM. I arrived at around 6:45AM and parked next to the sidewalk in front of the restaurant on a street parking spot. There were already some steady customers dining inside. As soon as I arrived the wife and co-owner gave me a warm welcome and I reciprocated by wishing her a Good Morning in Greek. Somehow, I find that making an effort to speak to others in their native language, establishes an immediate, friendly connection with them. I sat at one of their booths, and she asked me if I wanted coffee to start off with. I answered in the affirmative and then gave her my order. I ordered Paul's Breakfast Special. 2 eggs, with choice of bacon, ham or sausage, home fries and toast. All this, including the drink of your choice, for $8.00. I ordered my eggs over easy, bacon for the meat, and white toast. If you look at my photographs accompanying this review you will notice the quality of each of the items in my breakfast and how they were cooked to perfection, just as I requested. The bacon strips were thick and meaty, and cooked to order. The eggs were perfectly over easy. And the home fries were slices of potatoes fried just right. After delivering my breakfast to my table, she came by to refill my coffee. While I was enjoying my breakfast, other groups of customers came in and also received a friendly, warm welcome. A father and daughter came in, and soon after, the lady co-owner brought a slice of freshly baked cake with a lit candle on top and sang to the girl the Happy Birthday song. This was the case this morning, when after coming out of my yearly physical examination, I decided to take the Yellow Mountain Road and have breakfast at Lucy Kat's Diner. After being awarded the Yelp NC Triad Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Lucy Kat's Diner, in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. As I drove my Lexus up the narrow, curvy, road, I wondered if the destination would be worth the drive. But after I arrived and entered the diner, its nostalgic charm, and reason for its existence, captivated my soul. The diner was almost full of steady customers who along with me, appreciated the welcoming atmosphere, tasty food, and fast and friendly service at reasonable prices. It didn't take long for Kat, the owner of the diner, to recognize that I was new there, and come to give me a warm newcomer greeting, serve me a cup of coffee, and take my order. But before she did this, she answered my question of: "Where did the first name of the diner came from?" She quickly disclosed that Lucy was her beloved grandma, and that the restaurant came to be based on the dream her grandma Lucy shared with her of wanting one day to open a diner. In her honor, she did so. The interior of the diner was very clean and organized, painted yellow, with hardwood floors, and full of roaster decorations. At first I sat in the dining room on the side because all the tables in the main dining room were taken. But as soon one got empty, I asked if she could move me there, for a better appreciation of the place and a greater connection to the diner and its customers. When she was ready to take my order, I ordered from the Breakfast Specials, a number 5. It included a Pork Tenderloin, 2 fried eggs (mine, over-easy), a breakfast side (mine, hashbrowns), and a biscuit or toast (mine white toast). I also requested if she could add 2 strips of bacon and charge me extra for them. While my breakfast was being prepared by her assistant of almost 8 years, she made sure my cup of coffee was always full and that I had a glass of iced water on my table for me. As she brought out my food order, everything looked perfect. The pork tenderloin was just the right size and thickness, breaded and fried. The over-easy eggs were cooked to perfection. And my white toast had butter spread all over them. The hashbrowns were also done well. And the bacon strips were meaty and cooked just right. I highly recommend this diner for breakfast or lunch. It has a welcoming and friendly ambiance, good food at reasonable prices, and an amazing customer service. All things needed for an exceptional dining experience.

Sat at a table for over 15 minutes, bartender avoided me as she was in deep conversation with another patron I suppose. Moved to the bar. Got a TUDE from her with a "I would have came over, you didn't have to move". Then another guy just walks up, she gives him a menu and then his drink, I have neither. Finally she comes over my way, I asked if I could place a take out over. She grabs a menu, drops it in front of me and walks to the other end of the bar without asking or taking my drink order. She starts at the other end of the bar taking drink orders for all the other patrons who already have a drink in front of them. My daughter was a waitress while in college so I'm extremely empathetic toward wait staff, my lowest tip is 20%, good service 30% and excellent pays 40%. Tips are how they earn a living. Walked out.... also the menu is vastly different than what is offered on their website. Also I guess it may have been the chef- working extremely hard the entire time holding up a wall.
