I'm just passing through (Louisiana to Niagara Falls) and did a quick search for a good place to eat in this area before I booked my hotel & I'm thrilled I made time for Angelle's Diner! I made lots of friends in the outdoor dining area since I have my sweet dog. My new friends recommended hamburgers & the BLT. I decided to strike out on my own & ordered the Country Fried Steak with white gravy. Now I'm from Texas & I love CFS, so when I tell you it was good, that means something!!! It was fresh & hot! Fresh okra that you can tell was hand breaded (amazing, my first of the season since we've had so much rain in LA)! The onion rings were also awesome. The ranch was a little runny but it tasted great (I just would have liked more sticking to the ORs)! Patty was great!!! Super helpful & attentive. She brought my pup water & then brought him refills. That has never happened to me before! Doggie owners, I felt welcomed. All that plus a really nice fruity cake for dessert cost $23.58! I feel weird giving my meal a 10 (since I'm from TX & the food is a Texan staple) but it's well deserved. Great ending to a very long day driving! read more

We ate here on 9/15/26. The place had a good diner vibe, but... We ordered two of the hickory smoked bacon burgers, medium rare. Mine was perfect. My wife's was raw, and I mean raw. My wife had half of mine while they made another one. The new one was almost right. About 1/4 of it was raw. What wasn't raw was very good. The fried okra was good. The fries were so-so (not crispy). The service was terrible. They were a little busy, but not *that* busy. read more

I made a mistake coming here on Father's Day. It was busy! I sat at the bar or counter. I had to wait a long time for my food because they were busy. The chicken tender skillet. It was a special. The dish was so good that I ate it all. I think this dish should be on the menu. The food is so tasty here. The waitress was excellent too. The ambiance is a dive diner which I love! Truly a sweet find on an overnight right off of Route 81. We ate here on two occasions in one week. The food is fresh and arrived hot. The place is very busy and yet the the staff was so relaxed and warm with personal service. They even have patio seating alongside traditional diner indoor counter and table seats. I stopped in for lunch around 1:45 on a weekday. A server pleasantly greeted me and told me to sit anywhere, so I did. There was one customer sitting at the counter and two tables of customers already eating. I sat for 5 minutes waiting for service. A menu...a cup of water. Neither was forthcoming. The girl who welcomed me was socializing with a table of customers. None of the 5 other staff members socializing behind the counter seemed interested in me. So I left and got a burger down the road at Hardee's (where I received friendly, efficient service). Maybe Angelle's has good food, but I wouldn't know. Quick stop for lunch on the way down the highway. 3 of us for burgers one got breakfast. The wings appetizer was very tasty. One meal was made incorrectly, but they were quick to fix it and replace it. Server was very nice and I liked how you could see in through the kitchen and there were all female cooks ! read more

Oh my gosh. To be honest I saw the sign for Shoneys and immediately exited the interstate to go. But it's been closed for renovations since covid, said the sign. So disappointed. However when I found a spot to turn around, I saw Angelle's Diner. Ok, let's go!. Overhearing the employees when I sat down, they were exhausted and just ended a huge breakfast rush. So I didn't mind that I sat there a while before being attended too. Place looked like a typical diner. Waitress was super nice. And took my breakfast order..Belgium Waffle with 2 scrambled eggs and bacon. (Usually, I get gravy biscuits but they only had sausage gravy) Breakfast was served. My Waffle was delicious!! I was excited because Usually my waffles are thin and even sometimes crispy! Eww crispy Waffles! (Enter Black Twig,Sperryville) eww. This Waffle was fluffy, tasted like buttermilk and vanilla! We got there about 1250, but all full up for a party of 5. Waited about 15 mins, as we sat waitress told us breakfast service was over. We mentioned online it says breakfast all day. She said hmmm really? Offered simple breakfast items like eggs and a meat. We passed and ordered lunch food. Later she came back and said our GM knows it's on there and shrugged it off. As we are eating another group leaves as they were told breakfast ended. They also mention to their waitress online it says all day and she says yea we know, it's wrong sorry. I love what they've done to the old Waffle House location. It's been spruced up nicely, and their food is still affordable while being better for you than greasy spoon food, while having all the flavor you want in a quick meal. The portions were generous but truly the waitress steals the show here. She was a riot to talk to and you can tell the regulars just love her. The best part of the meal was the dessert. They had a banana cream pie that was probably one of the best I've had since my mom stopped baking. It was truly spectacular, and worth the trip in itself. read more

We randomly stopped by Angelle's Diner on a trip back to Northern VA and are so glad we did! I ordered the Cowboy Burger with an extra patty -- it was massive, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. My wife had the Cranberry Chicken Salad, which was fresh, filling, and full of great flavor. Our kids split the 2 Egg Breakfast and devoured it -- the fresh, fluffy biscuits were a big hit too. Our server, Angie, was outstanding -- incredibly attentive and personable, especially with two kids making a million requests. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. I was traveling through Virginia for the first time and stopped for the night at a motel next door to Angelle's Diner. I was hungry after a long day of driving so just went next door to Angelle's not sure what to expect. What I got was delicious southern style cooking, fast friendly service, and a pleasant (if somewhat noisy) ambiance. I had pork chops and they were excellent, as were the mashed potatoes that came with them. When the bill came, I was very pleasantly surprised to discover I could pay online, a feature I really enjoy but didn't expect from a local diner. Not sure if I'll ever be back to this area, but if I do I'll be sure to have another meal at Angelle's. read more

Solid three star experience. Stopped by for lunch. Waited in the doorway and was basically ignored by staff for several minutes; no greeting, no a table will be ready shortly, just ignored. Weird. Finally seated and after the wait it was extremely disappointed to hear that breakfast was just 'eighty sixed'. I was under the assumption breakfast was all day. Sadly that is not the case. Another family must have read the same thing as once they were sat, they too were told no breakfast and the server sent them to Cracker Barrel. Just wow. Small cozy cafe with counter service and a few tables. Friendly service. Watch the cook from the counter, who was like watching a well-oiled machine along with his assistant. Service- great service was provided by Amanda (table B6). She was attentive not just to us but to those around us. Ambiance- clean restaurant and Family oriented environment. Plenty of parking. Indoor and Outdoor seating. Food- order the bloody mary ($6). Good portions and quality food. The waffles were good not spongy. I had strawberry and cream waffles (ate half) not too sweet, well balanced flavors. My son loved his chicken and waffles. Two orders fish and chips (substituted Mac and cheese for fries.) The grilled fish was fresh and nicely cooked. The fried fish was overdone and greasy (after requesting wel drained). The dinners were served in aluminum trays which were cold resulting in cold fish halfway through dinner. Hush puppies, slaw, and Mac and cheese were delicious. We were looking for a Waffle House (not my first choice but I was being a good sport). Google insisted it was right here. We circled a few times and finally accepted we were going to Angelle's. Once we walked in, we knew this used to be the Waffle House. Definitely nicer. Same floorplan but updated paint and tables. And it was much cleaner. The staff were so helpful. Suggestions on our orders but also info about the neighborhoods around us. And now the food! This was such a wonderful burger. Juicy and flavorful. Perfectly cooked. We were on a long road trip up 77 to 81 and this was perfect. Can tell the food is fresh and homemade. Highly recommend.

Hubs and I stopped here for a late breakfast on the way to see our youngest at school. Decor was small town diner and very cute and clean. The service was super fast and friendly. I got the eggs and hash browns. Over easy eggs were cooked perfectly and hash browns were the right proportion of crispy and soft potatoes. My hubs got hash brown skillet with biscuit and gravy and two sunny side up eggs. He said it was very good. I got a to go cup for my tea and we were in and out in about 45 minutes. Great place.
