I'd be more than happy to stay at the W again on my next visit. -- Location: Walking distance to Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, the ferry terminals, etc. It's also just a block or so away from the University Street transit tunnel station where you can take the Link light rail to/from the airport, the stadia, or other sites, or you can take one of the many buses. -- Service: From friendly greetings at check in to helping us with checking into our flight, everyone was super pleasant and helpful. -- Room: We were upgraded from a "Wonderful room" to a "Spectacular room" on the 26th (top) floor. The room was comfortable, spacious, and had a nice view of downtown. As with all Starwood properties, the king bed was extremely comfortable. After a couple rough days of traveling, we were happy to see that our room had a bath tub/shower combo. Nothing fancy, but it was nice to get a hot soak after doing loads of walking during the day. -- Atmosphere: Similar vibe to other Ws - dark, muted lighting and tones, and a modern feel without feeling at all bleak or stark. The Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening mats in the elevators were cute, and the morning coffee and afternoon water in the lobby were a nice touch. read more

This W is a nice hotel, but nothing spectacular. Overall the room was nicely decorated, but as some others have mentioned, some parts of the room were showing their age (scratched desk). The hotel bar is nicely decorated, but seriously overpriced and the atmosphere was pretty meh. If you're looking for an amazing hotel, you might want to look elsewhere. If you're looking a decent hotel to stay in on a regular basis, this could be it. The Fairmont and Pan Pacific can be in the same price range, so make an educated decision. read more

Had a great stay at the W. I was able to check in early with a nice room upgrade and got a lot of great sightseeing tips from Mykaela at the front desk. For my first visit to Seattle, I was a bit pressed for time, but I wanted to see as many highlights as I could in an afternoon. I followed Mykaela's recommendations and had a great afternoon and evening!! The hotel is very centrally located, a couple of blocks from the Monorail, Pike Place Market and waterfront, and fabulous restaurants are on every corner. Room service was excellent. Try some of the sushi rolls - they are both tasty and beautiful! This W is less "clubby" than some of the others. For instance, the W in London Leicester Square is a full on dance-party experience. Seattle's is hip and much more mellow. Many thanks for the great stay! I'm looking forward to staying here again. read more

So if you're a little older, spend the extra $$ and stay and the Fairmont across the street. read more

Now I have never stated at any of the W hotel, and was a little skeptical after reading some reviews and booking through Priceline. Once I got to the property all my uncertainty was at ease from the front desk professionalism, my room being upgrade for my birthday, the view , cleanliness of the room, the hot 1.5 blocks from light rail station and about 4 blocks from pikes place. The lobby did turn into a mini club on Saturday night and everyone looked to enjoy them selves. And OMG the Chicken Wings Were no only Delicious, very different in flavor and very juicy. The flavor was lemon grass and some of the best I had in my life! Seriously! Overall everything seem to have lemon in it from the chicken to the bliss soap. And also, they are very accommodating where if you need an item they don't carry, they may even go to the store for you! Wow, I felt very special and was happy with my hotel that I was given. Terrible experience staying here. The hotel doesn't offer most complimentary services, standard at even a lesser class hotel. It's like a fancy motel with expensive ($68) parking. The hotel is noisy, staff is poorly trained, coffee maker is too difficult to use, no taxi service (they partner with uber), and management is completely indifferent to customer satisfaction. This place looks like it was probably great in its day. We requested a room with the extra large soaking tub. Each time we contacted them about our reservation it was confirmed that we would have one, we arrived and we did not. They made no effort to correct this. Even with an empty hotel. We let this slide.... The restaurant isn't open but they have 6 bar food items you can buy in the bar. Nothing to write home amount. We were triple charged for every purchase we made in the hotel. We are still trying to get the charges removed. It's obvious that it's a mistake because it's for the exact same amount x 3. For at least 4 orders we made. Had high hopes for this place, and I understand covid has ruined everything, but this place shouldn't lie about what is offered during these times. There are far too many other hotels in Seattle to go to. Bar area IS beautiful. I'll give them that. With the Lies and false advertisement, it won't be around long. read more

Very fancy place. Used SPG points just for a night. Beer at the bar was good. Every person there is super nice. Beds were amazing to sleep in. Very clean. They got good selection of bath products. Towels were like brand new, very soft. They emailed me before the stay to ask for any requests. I got 2 drink vouchers for asking even though I never got around to using them, was gone too much. Only things they were lacking was a fridge in the room and extra toilet paper. read more

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the W. We had no problem getting to the hotel from SeaTac. We took the light speed rail, got off at University and the hotel was a short 2 blocks walk away. I thought the room was clean with great amenities from Bliss. Perk: espresso machine in room and unlimited water bottles. It's a short 10 min walk to Pike Market and 10 min walk to the pier. The staff wasn't too friendly and the concierge didn't provide the best advice. I had a more enjoyable stay across the street at the Kimpton Monaco. read more

I stayed here for three nights during a mini vacation with my cousins. I had a great stay and loved the room. The staff at the front desk was very accommodating and gave us a different room as per our request because we didn't like the view. The one downside is having to pay extra per night if you want to be on a higher floor where the views are also better. Besides, that the place is great. read more

Very average hotel. Strongest points - the room was clean. Weakest - horrible, overpriced room service food dripping with grease. Weak room service menu too. Do not get the room service or pick up food at Trace. It was completely not edible. Three stars for the room being clean at check--in. However since they were not cleaning our room during Covid, we had to ask twice for fresh towels before they arrived. I understand that they don't clean during stays now -- makes sense. Bt when you are staying for a week, new towels are a must. And more than one 1x1 inch bar of soap would be nice too. Also had to ask for extra coffee for the Nespresso maker, and they brought only the espresso flavor. Room was small and very average, but again, at least clean. read more

Great location downtown within walking distance of so many things! Very nicely furnished and very comfortable beds. Above all else the service was impeccable! My friend became very ill the day of checkout and her flight didn't leave until very late in the day. The staff allowed us to check out late and even offered to bring her anything she needed. W Review Check-in: incredibly efficient, courteous, and prompt! We were in our room within 10 minutes if pulling in. Room: very clean without smelling like chemicals, cool! Nice details including the "backup plan" (you'll have to stay here to understand!). We stayed in a "Wonderful" room...and it was! We brought our own DVDs to watch on the in-room player. Five stars is not enough. I have fallen in love with the W brand of hotels after a weekend at their Seattle location. Everyone I encountered from Ryan who made my reservation to Christine (more on her later) to Anthony who checked me in and checked me out were amazingly helpful and friendly. I had called a day or two prior to arrival to confirm a late arrival and spoke with Christine who engaged me in conversation to find out why I was coming to town. Not too often that happens. Each night there was some sort of entertainment in the lobby. We saw a DJ one night and a band the next night. Drinks were delicious and poured nicely (highly recommend their moscow mule). The only thing I wasn't a fan of were the prices and options for food in Trace. But with the hotel being in such a perfect location and numerous restaurants within walking distance, it won't stop me from staying there again in the future. read more

This hotel is very modern and has great customer service. We were really tired the first day so we ate at the restaurant downstairs. I definitely recommend the cauliflower appetizer and squash soup, they were delicious. (The waitress was very sweet) The huge fireplace and lounge/bar is also downstairs and is very relaxing; there is music on Friday and Saturday nights. Our room was a great size- we stayed in a king bedroom on the 19th floor. We faced towards the water but could only see two slivers of it because of all the tall buildings. The beds are very comfortable and tv is a good size. The only thing we missed was having a balcony although we know not a lot of the hotels have them. The view could have been a littler better possibly if we faced the other side. Overall a wonderful experience and we would stay again most likely. read more

The W is by far and away my favorite Bonvoy chain, and this location did not disappoint. The service was exceptional and the price was surprisingly reasonable. The bed was phenomenal as always, and the room was clean and well stocked with amenities. I didn't experience any noise issues at all so I was surprised to read reviews that had mentioned that as an issue. All in all, this was on par with most other W's I've visited and met my high expectations accordingly. Strong bonus that there's a Starbucks just a few paces away, for quick convenient early morning breakfast. read more

Wish I could change: the rooms don't cool down very much, anything extra is pretty expensive, loud on the street (emergency vehicles with sirens every 10 minutes), I didn't realize how hilly this city is! Review is for the bar/restaurant. Me & my gf dropped by for a lemon drop. Glass shapes changed but foods improved. Their hummus plate was awesome, especially their red pepper chili sauce. Heaven help you if you get a room by the elevators like 2521. Some of the rooms near the main elevators are NOT insulated from the room noise and shake with the elevator movement every 30-60 seconds. Stayed at plenty of downtown hotels both new and very old and never had so much noise from elevators where if rumbles the entire wall. Disconcerting and not worth dealing with for the cost. read more

This might be the worst hospitality experience to date. Unfortunately there is no negative review available. They offered complimentary drinks at the lobby and15 mins later accused us of bringing outside drinks in their plastic cups they provided downstairs of their lobby because we added water from their complimentary station to the sugar bomb drinks. Then jason the security harassed us and falsely accused us of bringing outside alcohol causing a major scene with our children. Follow up escalation to Gerard the manager was not only unapologetic but abrasive and making up false hotel policies for their plastic cups not allowed downstairs and then cutting us off completely from access to entertainment and bar?! Never again will go w hotel establishment. I absolutely would NOT recommend staying at this hotel. Rude and hospitable. Beware of the loud dj and bands on Friday literally cant hear to check in this place is awful and same with the inexperience staff and manager. read more

"Welcome to the W Seattle, what is your wish." Ahhh....this was the greeting I received upon entering my hotel. Whatever/Whenever is the motto for this recognizable brand, and I should have really embraced it. My wish was to have a clean, comfortable room, with minimal noise, and a decent view. They got most of it right. My room was standard, full of bliss products-perfect for a bath. My view=parking lot. Luckily and unlike the W in NY, It was quiet, and I was able to close my blinds and REEELLLAX. Swank, swank, and more swank, but what's with climbing the stairs to get to the lobby. Cute place. Kind of a modern look for the new money set. The designer decor is nice, but oddly matched for the building. I kept looking around and was wondering what this place was before being a W. I was thinking Best Western or Holiday Inn. The floorplan just seems slightly strange. The views are glorious on the top floors. The sheets are top quality and the beds are plush, large, and well anchored. The amenities are as listed on the website, but I couldn't help but notice the sound system. It uses the LCD tvs in the non-bose-surround rooms and it really blows. The bathrooms are super clean, larger than some places I've been, and decked out with current fixtures. They skimped on the room hollow-core doors, so everything to do louder than what you might speak to someone at a funeral is plainly audible in the hallway. If you care, there it is. The staff here is exceedingly bitchy and causes complications for no good reason I could determine. As the other reviewers have mentioned, it seems to take the wind out of the sails of the staff so to speak. At a place in this level of cash outlay, I was expecting someone to carry bags, the person to come to the rooms to have a bit of decorum, and things to get done in a fairly quick manner. Not quite the case. No bellhop. Dudes pounding on doors at 3am in the morning to deliver a little things. Waiting for 10 minutes for the valet to collect the car even though I called down to give them a head start. Assorted other details that I noticed weren't happening. The nickel dime aspects of these type of hotels are what really annoys me. $20 room service sandwiches, $15 a day for internet, forgiving the minibar prices (which I guess should be expected), $35 for parking. Every transaction in the hotel has a $3 service fee and 22% gratuity already appended. It's just excessive given the level of service. Unless you're one of those people who doesn't know the value of a dollar (and if you are you likely don't read yelp anyway), or a wannabe baller with 24" rims on your escalade, there is better bang for buck elsewhere. I expected more from this place by reputation, and it didn't deliver. Perhaps this is the bush leagues for the W, and the other top flight locations are more consistent with the throughly marketed brand standard. read more

Beware. No one is happy to work here. Confidential (more or less) employee surveys show an abnormal amount of total dissatisfaction. In particular, several upper management folks are singled out repeatedly as being "petty" "tyrannical" and "stoopid" (okay, stoopid wasn't repeatedly, just my favorite). As a guest I'm guessing this doesn't work out in your favor. Be that as it may, I actually enjoy staying here (never mind why). But I live in Seattle and only do so as a one day get-a-way. Practical advice for the W (all locations) traveler: 1. Imagine the front desk staff as contest winners. Wanted: only the most self-absorbed and witless. Hilarity ensues. 2. On business? I do love the W. It's always a reliable and swanky place to stay. It's not my FAVORITE hotel, but I really can't complain too much. Our room was nice and spacious, with one king bed, amazingly soft down pillows, a huge desk, plasma, and a comfy, cushioned bench along the window that you could totally sleep on. I love the Bliss bath products too! Minus one star for room service taking over an hour on Sunday morning. (That's ok though, we just went across the street to Sazerac!) And the super dark hallway was slightly annoying. Wasn't sure if I was in a nightclub or a hotel. And overnight parking is fucking expensive: $36. read more

I'm trying to figure out why Yelp deleted my review of this place from 2005. Perhaps it got rancid? Past it's prime? Aloha expiration date? Whatever, here it is reposted and updated: I like the fact that Seattle has a place that is sophisticated, in close proximity to shops that count, and exists in the lobby of one of Seattle's more upscale ID'd hotels. A bar which feels it's meant for locals as much as anybody else. Apart from this chic bar being on my regular stop prior to taking the bus home from work; where else can you sit down and chat with a complete stranger (from Paris of all places) only later to find out that stranger is Emmanuelle Seigner, then get invited to dinner at Zoe to boot? Where else can you manage to get a date with the Marketing Director of an internationally renowned chain of couture hair salons; through which you obtain her employer as a client? Or arm wrestle one of the Seagalls, only to end up in a 7th floor room, wearing nothing but a Seahawks girlie-t wondering what the hell happened. Ah, I see now why they deleted this review. 'W' bar -yes, it's that good. In a discreet, expensive, excruciatingly sophisticated sort of way. read more

Five paws up for sure! I know it doesn't equate but it's the yelp rating system even if a dog only has 4 paws! Just think of it as one dog and a buddy's paw or 5 dogs with one paw up! Either way, my dog and I love this place. I have a long history with this hotel chain. Being that in my previous profession I traveled to NY every other month, they became my home away from home! This particular location, although located in my home city, I have used as a little get away on a few occasions. In fact I spent my wedding night here before we flew out to Italy for the honeymoon. The rooms are large and modern, the beds are as heavenly as they advertise, the bathrooms are clean and spacious and I love the complimentary Bliss bath products! Not to mention, the staff are more than accomodating and make you feel completely welcome. The best part of all and one of which I wasn't able to take advantage of until recently is that they are DOG friendly! Not only that, they go out of their way to spoil your pooch not only via room accomodations but also by partnering up with City Dog Magazine and having Mutt Mixer cocktail parties. Last night's Valentine escapades included a dog wedding complete with an altar and an ordained pastor! So quirky and totally fun! There was a great mix of people and pooches and everyone got along. The W staff brings out house made gourmet dog treats as well as human treats. They had decadent cup cakes however mistakenly brought out the doggy version first so when the people cakes came out, it caused some confusion and my poor little guy gave me such a beggars stare that I had to walk away to enjoy my strawberry goodness! They accomodate the dogs and their owners in every way possible to include little turf potty stations out front, complimentary poop bag pods and water bowl stations complete with W bottled water. Definately stay tuned for the next Paw-ty via City Dog Magazine because I can think of nothing more fun than partying with my Pooch! read more

Cons: king bed didn't have a fitted sheet so the undersized sheet that was tucked in came untucked and was sleeping directly on the mattress halfway through the night. Here's the deal The W Seattle isn't a W, it's a Sheraton pretending to be a W. We should of known something was up when the W, the Sheraton and the Westin which are all a few blocks from each other were all the same price (Expensive). It's called a W, the lobby is kinda W-ish, but the rooms are all Sheraton. No funky W vibe which we thought we were gonna get. Make sure you have a look at the rooms on the web site. Other things - - You have to pay for wi-fi - Parking is like 60 bucks a night. This is actually more expensive than the cost of the car rental (NOTE - there is a parking garage RIGHT next door that is 47 bucks a day) - no blackout curtains - No pool or cool pool bar. Then again there wasn't any sun either :-( - Great downtown location - Starbucks across the street (no brainer given there is a starbuck on damn near every corner) With that being said - typical excellent Starwood service from the first minute we walked in until we checked out. read more

My sweetheart was headed for NY, so I splurged and got her a room as a bon voyage/birthday treat so she'd be closer to the airport. The room itself was lovely, modern and chic. Furniture that looked a bit West Elm, a nifty cosmopolitan corner view, nice soft lighting, really perfect for her. The front desk and most of the staff attentive and friendly. And then began an unforgivable sequence of events. She ordered room service that included a chocolate dessert. HOWEVER, the treat had a peanut center and this was not indicated on the menu! One bite, she didn't even swallow, and her throat and lips began to swell. She can die from exposure to peanuts. When she told the staff, they were indifferent and still charged her for the mis-described item (though offered her a replacement dessert which she could not eat!) A few days later, I received a form email with a link to the GM at the Seattle hotel ASKING for feedback!. I explained this all to him and guess what ? No reply. I filled out a survey expressing my dissatisfaction and guess what? No reply. I closed my Starwood frequent visitor card, and guess what? No reply. The Westin chain is the worst of mega corporate indifference. Never again will we patronize any of their properties. I can forgive mistakes (albeit this was a HUGE mistake). I cannot forgive callous disregard for the customer. read more

Some weekends, I try to pretend that I am hip and fit into the crowd at the W. On a recent trip to Seattle, I stayed for 5 days at this property which gave me the opportunity to see the good and the bad about W Seattle. At the end of the trip, I can provide a solid 4 star rating. Let's go into the details. Pros + Service that was above and beyond expectation. Whenever something was requested (e.g., extra towels), someone delivered within an appropriate time frame (usually less than 5 minutes) with a smile. + Engineering staff were helpful in resolving room-related issues (see below). + Minimal street and hallway noise. One of my biggest pet peeves about traveling is that hotels don't seem to understand that one of the main things I need to do on your property is sleep. The W Seattle was a peaceful stay. + Bliss toiletries are a nice treat. + Location is excellent for tourist attractions, and is no more than a 15 minute walk to pretty much anything you will want to explore in downtown Seattle. Cons - Consistent plumbing issues throughout my stay. The W staff offered to move my party, but the hassle of packing and unpacking negated the inconvenience of having the engineering staff in and out of our room throughout our stay. They acknowledged that some of the plumbing issues were known to the property, which is a shame because I don't suppose they can just tear down the building and re-build. - Details details details. As others have mentioned, the W Seattle is missing some of the finer points that would make it stand out. Like not dusting along the window sill, or an analog alarm clock that does not light up at night, furniture that is more 4 Points by Sheraton than it is Westin, or not refilling the water in the lobby. In essence, the W Seattle is a little tired compared to some of SPG's other W properties. Let's just say that the W Seattle is the less attractive younger brother in my family... still sturdy and reliable, but just not my kind of good looks. All in all, I would recommend the W Seattle without reservation. Please ignore idiot posts like Melisa P.'s review from 4/30/2015. Not only did her mother forget the extra "s" in her name, but if she thinks that her room at the W was "only a bit nicer than a Comfort Inn" then I don't think that she has ever stayed in a budget hotel before. read more

Arrived at 4:15pm on a Saturday with 3 family members. Had booked two rooms well in advance, one queen and one with 2 double beds. When we arrived the rooms were not available and there were no double bed rooms in the entire hotel leaving us to have to get a rollaway bed for the night. For our trouble we were given 1 drink voucher for our party of 4 and an offer to comp the roll away bed. Our rooms were not available for over an hour and we had a 5:45pm dinner reservation. Not having a room available well past check in with no explanation or accommodations made is simply unacceptable. We were not given updates on our room status throughout our wait and multiple times were forced to inquire ourselves about our rooms. I am extremely disappointed in a hotel that prides itself in customer service and running an effective hotel, not to mention the steep rates. In the future I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more
