My partner and I visited town to celebrate our friend's daughter's 1st birthday. We stayed at The W in downtown Seattle, a very convenient location close to Pike Place and several restaurants we had bookmarked and wanted to try. The mandatory destination fee charge seemed to be obnoxious. Internet is already included if you are a Bonvoy member. I did receive the tickets to the Great Wheel but never used them although they are good up to a year from the ticket's insurance date. I guess you get some of your destination fee back with a $14 food and beverage credit when you charge it to your room, but essentially they are forcing you to dine on the property. To top that off, whenever you purchased food and beverage from any of the food outlets, they charge a mandatory service fee which I guess was okay if you consider that as mandatory tip. Anyhow, what I did like about this hotel is that it was really close to the Symphony light rail stop. However, what was unpleasant was having to push my heavy suitcase up the hill. It seemed like the room was a bit run down particularly the bathroom. The water pressure in my shower was sporadic like it needed a water hammer arrestor. My room smelled like moth balls. The lower level lobby was only accessible via stairs. This is an issue if you had luggage like I did. I think you would have to go back outside and walk on the sidewalk to get to the upper level lobby. Although the staff was very friendly, I was disappointed overall with my stay. We were there during a Seattle Seahawks game, so the hotel was packed with visitors and energy was chaotic. That explains some things, but not all. Even as ambassadors, we waited two hours for our room despite giving our arrival time at least a week in advance. I get that it was slammed, but it still set the tone. Valet was a full-on mess--cars backed up onto the main street, traffic snarled, and general havoc all around. Again, game day likely amplified this, but it was still frustrating. As for the rooms: outdated. The kind of outdated that feels untouched rather than intentionally retro. There is a real old-school bathtub, which was honestly the most interesting part. Our "Puget Sound view" was technically accurate but amounted to a thin sliver of water if you leaned just right. Would I go back specifically to hotel if i had other choices? No. There are better spots in Seattle that feel more current, more welcoming, and far less stuck in 2003. read more

Stayed a couple of nights, this W really went downhill in the past decade or so. Dated rooms with cheap "tree print" vinyl on walls, walls and paper thin - the elevator equipment kept me up all night. When I called and asked whether my room was next to the elevator equipment I was told they ALL are - each room surrounds the elevator shaft so you keep hearing the gears and pulleys even with earplugs in. Very basic setup - basic toiletries without amenities like cotton balls or q tips, teeny tiny Nespresso machine with a $5 water next to it for your morning coffee. Valet only parking for $75, there are no nightlights anywhere. And the view - that was the most disappointing part. The W was an iconic hotel exuding luxury. A very basic hotel room. Very basic. My "high city view" room looked across at what seemed to be an abandoned building. Other than that I saw office windows. This is a good-sized hotel (web says 424 rooms) yet I couldn't check in at 3:20 because it wasn't 4:00 yet. Breakfast was ridiculously expensive but there wasn't much nearby. I got to receive a massage from the new Robotic Aescape treatment! I had no idea what to expect from a robot but I was amazed by the service! It was surreal that it honestly felt better than hands! It was warm and relaxing and I got to choose the settings and regulate the pressure the whole time. If you prefer not to be touched or would rather be alone for a massage or want a quick massage during your lunch break you get choose the timing, this is perfect! Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. 20 minutes before check out, there was a very aggressive knock on our door. I opened it to hear a staff member ask, "when are you leaving?" Our group of eight couples booked four rooms at the W Hotel for a stay on 9/6/2025. While the hotel itself was nice and the staff was friendly, the extra fees quickly soured the experience. The room rate was $400 ($450 with taxes and fees), which seemed inflated--likely because of the Seahawks game that weekend. Parking was another frustration. There's no nearby self-parking, so guests are forced to use the W's garage. When we arrived, a sandwich board outside advertised overnight parking at $15 less than the $68 listed online. Despite this, valet charged us the full $68. Since we were using Uber during our stay, we had no choice but to leave our cars with valet. The rooms were modern and clean, but the basics were lacking. Each room only had two bath towels--fine for a solo traveler, but inconvenient for couples. The pillows were flat and worn out, and the bed felt old and saggy, leaving several of us with the sense that our feet were higher than our heads. At least one couple in our group seemed to have a newer bed, but the majority agreed that the sleeping setup was poor. The in-room fridge was packed with overpriced drinks and snacks, leaving no space for personal use. Removing anything triggers an automatic charge. After checkout, things got worse. While driving home, I received an invoice showing two valet charges at $68 each, despite the lower rate advertised at check-in. One of the charges was eventually removed after I called, but the other remained. On top of that, we were billed a $28 "destination fee," which supposedly covered a $14 per-person drink credit and a Ferris wheel ticket offer we received at check-in. It's essentially a forced bar credit, whether you want it or not. In the end, the W looks great on the surface, but guests should expect to pay at least 25% more than the listed rate once hidden charges are factored in. For the same price point, there are nicer, more transparent hotel options in Seattle. read more

Pros: Great location, friendly and welcoming front desk staff, delicious appetizers in the Living Room Bar (try the asparagus fries and the flatbread!), lovely lobby and lounge area, sparkling water available in the fountain, fluffy towels, and comfortable bed. Cons: added charges upon checkout of $25 per day "destination fee" and $68 per day for parking, the restaurant staff was so surprisingly rude, it was comical, and our room seemed kinda old & musty - looked great in photos, but kinda ewww in real life. I stayed for 6 nights, and it was merely OK. The "coffee" maker had fixings only for lukewarm espresso. I had brought my own tea bags, but had to buy cups at a convenience store, but still couldn't get water hot enough out of their undersized machine. The shower potions all smelled of bitter melon. The wait staff in both their "grab & go" breakfast area and the hotel bar tried hard but could not keep up with the number of customers wanting service. There were steps between the address door and the reception desk, the bar/restaurant, and the building elevator. The doors in and out were so heavy I could barely open them at all, and hurt myself on arrival trying to enter with a rolling suitcase. This experience was not worth the money. read more

The front desk staff are discreet, quick, and lovely! The hotel rooms are stunning and close to the paramount. I truly love to see concerts there and the W is a hop, step, and a jump away!!plus the hotel bar is exquisite with amazing cocktails and great service. Dress up and feel like a million bucks as the staff live to be knowledgeable, fun, and really know the drink your heart desires!! Great little app menu too! It's the only place to stay in style and is a perfect place to have a date pre-drink or take the girls for a lovely experience. You will wish you could live there!! read more

I stayed at the W from 7-13 thru 7-17-25. The front desk staff could not have been nicer. The concierge was hardly ever there. The worse part was housekeeping. Although the bed was made and fresh towels provided daily, they did not remove used glasses from the bar and room. In some instances, the glasses stayed they for 2 days or more. Even after we complained, it was no better. The floor in common downstairs area near the bar was disgusting. I noticed no one ever mopped or cleaned the floor. One could see the buildup of spilled food and drink on the floor. In the four nights I spent there, I never saw a mop hit the floor and I was up at 6AM. So, the buildup of spilled food and drink only got worse. For the amount of money that I spent staying there, I expect better. read more

Stayed here for a couple nights while in town for a business conference and enjoyed my stay here. The hotel definitely has a modern vibe- the reception and lounge area had dimmed lighting and felt more like a club than a hotel. The room was nice and spacious- I loved how there was a couch, a desk, and plenty of room to spread out. The furniture/appliances were new and modern, everything was clean, and at night it was relatively quiet. The meeting space for our conference was nice but seemed a bit small for our group. Location wise, it's in a good place. Relatively quiet part of downtown, right next to the Seattle public library (a cool building!), definitely walkable to Pike Place Market, and a grocery store about 2 blocks away if you need anything. Parking is a beast though ($68/night) so thankfully I didn't drive. Overall, a nice place to stay if you're looking to be in downtown Seattle. read more

Swanky, secure, clean - my kind of hotel! - location was ideal across from my business meeting - clean room, quick check in/out, attentive service - the Living Room bar is a nice casual atmosphere with attentive , friendly bar service - it's been a whole dive I ate at Trace but I remember enjoying their offerings and it was a solid meal for being hotel food. I'm disappointed I didn't get a chance to try them this visit. - I never enjoy hotel room coffee. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Nespresso maker! I'm a coffee lover and this is my jam. I went to the front desk to request more pods over my 2 night stay and they promptly brought up more pods. The only feedback is please provide larger to -go cups. I sipped my espresso in my tiny cups each morning but would have loved a larger size so I could brew 2 pods at a time. read more

I stayed at this hotel on business and the staff were pleasant and professional. I always enjoy the bar scene at the W or even the pool when it's hot. This time around I only enjoyed the bar but the bar staff were super friendly and easy on the eyes. I will say the rooms here seemed a bit dated. The showers had a curtain and the "textured wall" was wood wallpaper. Typical 1st world issues, but with a name like W I wasn't expecting to see cut corners. I just have never seen that at a W, but that was my 1st time in Seattle, and I know all properties aren't the same. I snapped a few pics of the rooms below. Also, I requested service on day 3 and they forgot the service. I really wanted at least the trashcans emptied that day and a couple more bottles of water but a simple call to the front desk solved the water issue. Not much else to say. read more

It's a very nice hotel. I got a decent rate and didn't think it was fancy. But I ate breakfast at their restaurant and the avocado toast with one runny egg + regular coffee cost me $20! And I thought the Bay Area was expensive. Was it delicious. Of course. It tasted great. But unless it was included in my hotel rate like this time I probably wouldn't eat it again. They gave a lovely corner room with great views and it was nice and big. Right in the middle of downtown I could walk to places. Thumbs up. read more

Beautiful modern hotel in a great location. Up the hill from Pikes Market, a couple of blocks from the monorail and shops and near lots of restaurants. Brian checked us in, gave us a map, answered all of our questions and made us feel welcomed. Room 1512 was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. Appreciated the refrigerator, large lg television, Nespresso machine and space. Our corner unit had a great view, floor to ceiling windows, with black out shades, and it was very bright and light. The king bed was so comfortable. We appreciate that our luggage will be safely stored until we return. I wish I could give the Seattle W ten stars, can't wait to come back! read more

My husband and I were in need of a safe getaway, we chose a staycation at the W Seattle for the weekend. Unlike many of the other similar hotels W offered a package that included a one flat rate parking fee, verses paying $30 or more per day to park. This package was extremely convenient and allowed us to come and go at our leisure without excessive charges. The customer service provided by the staff was exceptionally pleasant and we greatly appreciate the social distancing parameters put in place we have no complaints. The room accommodations were as advertised, very clean, and sanitizing wipes made available in the room. The bed was a little low and not as firm per my preference, but not terrible. Our check out process was seamlessly easy and allowed us to skip the tourist traffic do early morning grocery shopping at Pikes Place market for local goods for the week (saving me a trip to the grocery store.) If you're headed to Seattle for a getaway or a resident seeking a short staycation; I highly recommend the W Seattle! read more

'W' still a solid choice in downtown Seattle. Although the neighborhood has taken a bit of a beating (pandemic - homelessness and crime) - the 'W' stands as a fortress of brutalist architecture and welcome you into the cocoon of comfort. Overall - 4 Stars (Hip with neon in the lobby with a DJ spinning on some nights) Décor: 4 Stars (If you wear black as a standard color you are in luck - you will blend in) Bed Comfort: 4 Stars (Beds have cushion, but with support) Linens: 4 Stars Onsite Dining: 2 Stars (Room service yes - onsite eats limited to morning) Park Price: 2 Stars (Take my money - $45 for overnight) Neighborhood: 3 Stars (On the edge of the downtown district - watch out for junkies) The 'W' opened in the 00's and when it did - watch out - it was hip - it was cool - it was edgy. But as the years have progressed, so has the allure of what the 'W' was. BUT, don't despair - this is still a quality hotel nested within the Marriott brand and being tucked into one of it's rooms will give you a night, or two of comfort. Good thing I check my credit card statements. You probably should too if you decide to book a stay at this W Seattle. I got charged for using the minibar even though I never did. I travel A LOT, have never once used the minibar, and have never been fraudulently charged for using one until I stayed at the W Seattle. Funny thing is the company I was traveling with had several other individuals who got charged for using the minibar when they never did. That leaves such a bad taste in my mouth for any W or Marriott hotel. I called and asked about the charge, and they said they would reverse the charge. After 15 days, I called my bank wondering why the charge hadn't been credited yet. My bank said there were no pending credits, so that means the hotel never initiated the credit on their end. W Seattle has some shady business practices. read more

Stay was lovely, front desk staff were friendly. One star due to the following: Was incorrectly charged on my personal card for a work trip. (This is fine, I understand it happens sometimes). Refund to the personal card was prompt-Great! However, it took me 3 weeks, many many emails, and multiple phone calls to receive a copy of my receipt once it was billed to my corporate card. I was told there is no escalation path after being sent the incorrect receipt 3x. I need to submit this receipt for an expense report at work. It should not be this difficult to get a copy of a receipt. Not impressed with the customer service here, esp for a hotel owned by Marriott. 1/5 for poor service after checkout. read more
