Although the neighborhood has taken a bit of a beating (pandemic - homelessness and crime) - the 'W' stands as a fortress of brutalist architecture and welcome you into the cocoon of comfort. Overall - 4 Stars (Hip with neon in the lobby with a DJ spinning on some nights) Décor: 4 Stars (If you wear black as a standard color you are in luck - you will blend in) Bed Comfort: 4 Stars (Beds have cushion, but with support) Linens: 4 Stars Onsite Dining: 2 Stars (Room service yes - onsite eats limited to morning) Park Price: 2 Stars (Take my money - $45 for overnight) Neighborhood: 3 Stars (On the edge of the downtown district - watch out for junkies) The 'W' opened in the 00's and when it did - watch out - it was hip - it was cool - it was edgy. But as the years have progressed, so has the allure of what the 'W' was. BUT, don't despair - this is still a quality hotel nested within the Marriott brand and being tucked into one of it's rooms will give you a night, or two of comfort. Good thing I check my credit card statements. You probably should too if you decide to book a stay at this W Seattle. I got charged for using the minibar even though I never did. I travel A LOT, have never once used the minibar, and have never been fraudulently charged for using one until I stayed at the W Seattle. Funny thing is the company I was traveling with had several other individuals who got charged for using the minibar when they never did. That leaves such a bad taste in my mouth for any W or Marriott hotel. I called and asked about the charge, and they said they would reverse the charge. After 15 days, I called my bank wondering why the charge hadn't been credited yet. My bank said there were no pending credits, so that means the hotel never initiated the credit on their end. W Seattle has some shady business practices. read more

Stay was lovely, front desk staff were friendly. One star due to the following: Was incorrectly charged on my personal card for a work trip. (This is fine, I understand it happens sometimes). Refund to the personal card was prompt-Great! However, it took me 3 weeks, many many emails, and multiple phone calls to receive a copy of my receipt once it was billed to my corporate card. I was told there is no escalation path after being sent the incorrect receipt 3x. I need to submit this receipt for an expense report at work. Beautiful W in the heart of Seattle. The rooms have been renovated since I was here last and they are really nice. Furniture is functional and stylish, bed gave me an incredible sleep, and the size of the room is gigantic - although maybe I'm comparing it to Manhattan. City views are nice, and I was on a high floor away from the bustle. The light switches were also all easy to find (sometimes an issue at W's). And they finally moved away from the cheapening Bliss products to Davines- much better. In a nutshell, this W is more style than substance. There was very few staff to handle check-ins, which made for a longer wait than any of the other hotels I've experienced during my trip. I might be more forgiving in other circumstances, but in the time of the pandemic, the last thing I want to do is to wait around in a public area longer than I have to. I guess the hotel looked "chic", but that's not what I'm really looking for. The room itself was a mixed bag. The bed was decently comfy, but nothing else really impressed me. The bathroom looked incredibly old and underwhelming. I didn't end up cashing in on my perks and go for breakfast here. Great location (close to Pike Market), walking distance to a lot of nearby restaurants and shops, and best of all the front desk staff goes above and beyond to be helpful. I had to come out here for a last minute work trip and didn't get much time to do any research but lucked out here. Sarah at the front desk was super helpful, she gave me some room options along with the highlights of each one. This was very thoughtful of her since I was staying for a week. Since I was planning on working late most of the week, I asked Sarah if there were places to eat that open past 10. Kenry, who was also at the front desk overheard and chuckled and started writing a list of his recommendations for me, and he also gave me the highlights of each one. I was pretty tired and burned out from the day that I've had, but the front desk staff unexpectedly made my day with their positivity and helpfulness. I went with the King studio and city view, the room size was great and had a lounge area. Everything was pretty clean and there is a gym there seems to be available all the time. Great location downtown. Within walking distance to all the tourist points in every direction. Check-in was smooth and friendly. I very much appreciated being greeted every morning (and basically every time we came back in and out.) Check out was a breeze as well since they do the automatic and send your bill to your email the night before. We had a king corner city view room for 3 nights. Very very spacious. Maybe even too much space. LOL!!! The furniture was fun and functional. I don't usually sit on the couch in a hotel but I really liked this one. The bed was suuuper comfy and the bedding was really interesting. The only flaw in the room was the sink pressure. I couldn't tell if there was a flow restrictor or if the mesh was dirty. Very hard to brush your teeth. The staff was greet. Each person was helpful, had a smile on their face and remembered us. I got an extra blanket the second day and the houseman who delivered it apologized for how long it took to get to me. It was less than 10 min. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

My friend and I have not seen each other since 2019 because of COVID so when an opportunity came up to spend a long weekend in Seattle (from Los Angeles) we jumped on it! I am not too familiar with Seattle but have stayed at The W Hotel in other cities so I knew what to expect in terms of their brand and quality of service. Well, we were blown away above and beyond my expectations! Because of COVID, the cleanliness and practices used to assure customer quality of care were top-notch. Also, we wanted to watch my computer screen on the large flat screen in the room, so the concierge was kind enough to deliver an HDMI cable and show us how to hook it up! I slept better than I have in years with the comfortable bedding and incredible mattress! The showerhead and water pressure were great, too after our long walks on the hills through the city. It was lovely to take a hot bath, as well! The lounge area was not too crowded because of COVID, I assume, but we had a blast! The live band was great, and we met fellow travelers over drinks at the seating area in front of the fire. Checking in and out what a breeze. Highly recommend! read more

If you're driving, valet is on the adjacent street (421 Seneca), which happens to be one way street. We checked in at 8:00 am once we left the cruise ship. Our room wasn't ready so we left the bags. We made the line to make sure everything was taken care of and were told to come back to get the key once it was available. No line, no hassle. Not only did we have to make a line, but were treated poorly by a blond at the front desk. Only to find out after, that our bags were taken upstairs prior, but she had no clue. What a terrible experience in Seattle. The W is supposed to mean something and it's lost its value here. It used to stand for excellence and a name you could depend on. Amazing. I don't know the value, because the company paid for our room as we were in town on their business. BUT: Fast, professional, and simple check in, clean room, everything worked well, very quiet, good views, luxurious items in place, great bed and pillows, etc. The gym was small, but about 12 of us packed in to work out and everything in the gym worked. Which is unusual. Pleasant housekeeping folks, good bar downstairs, nice (but spendy) cafe downstairs that serves a great breakfast (try the bacon!) and quality coffee. Very walkable, and easy to find in the first place. GREAT STAY. Will surely return for them and for us when we are paying ourselves. read more

My husband and I's first stay here and it was awesome! We liked the location, the front desk was very nice and got us an upgrade and an early check in. Plus resort fee gets you a daily use it or lose it $25 stipend for the hotel's bar and restaurant/snack-bar/coffee counter - but not full amount given automatic 15% tip. So does just one person use that stipend or do you spend even more on property to feed the rest of your party? Platinum Elite gets you a daily $40 breakfast stipend at hotel's restaurant/snack-bar/coffee counter, but not really given 15% automatic tip. In my opinion the menu is over priced for what it offers. For two, that breakfast stipend does not go far given the prices and portions. Stay at the Marriott Renaissance 0.2 miles away instead. No resort fee, nicer rooms, larger lobby with more offerings, no stipend obligations and a fantastic lounge with food for Platinum Elite. read more

We showed up at 3:30 with check in at 4:00. We go into the lobby and there's a huge line to check in, so we wait our turn, and an hour later when we get to the desk they say they overbooked and the hotel we booked wasn't available so instead of 2 queens they offered either a king or to wait indefinitely for a room to open up. We booked our hotel room back in March! It's ridiculous that a company in downtown Seattle fumbled handling a busy weekend this hard. How are you going to overbook hotel rooms and then be shocked that everyone shows up at check in time to CHECK IN ??? The incidental hold they put on my card was $883 for ONE NIGHT. Which took up majority of my travel funds so I was left having to use credit cards to pay for things because majority of my money was taken up by just the incidental fee. Once we got to our room our bed wasn't made properly, there's dirt on the carpets, there's scuffs on cabinets and walls, toilet paper is like gas station quality. And basically anything extra you need you have to pay for. On their website valet parking is available for guests, but their parking garage was full when we arrived because of the overbooking, and from reading some of the reviews they let random people use it as well. We booked this hotel specifically because it had parking, as we are two young women traveling alone, but instead we had to park in a garage with "high prowl area" signs posted everywhere. When I brought this up I was told it's first come first serve. Maybe put that on the website then instead of listing it as an accommodation for guests. Or maybe don't overbook your rooms??? When in our rooms we got food delivered without any utensils so we called to ask for some and we waited 30 minutes and no one ever showed up so we went downstairs to locate our own. When we came back to our hotel after a long night at a concert, we noticed the bed wasn't made properly (see photo) and the sheets are hospital sheet quality. Grading on a bit of a curve. It costs 210 a night so it should be a better experience. The room, allegedly a suite, featured a view of the parking structure. You can see nothing else from the window. The decor is meh. Not bad but not good. Everything is clean. The coffee maker (Nespresso) malfunctions. The room is basically a vending machine. Lots of way overpriced snacks and you aren't supposed to use the refrigerator because it is the mini bar. $4.00 bottles of water. Why do I have to pay to stay in a vending machine. Bed is comfortable. Bedding is fine. Breakfast options are expensive and poor. Common areas are limited and uninspiring. Service is good and prompt. Good check in. read more

I frequent the lounge and bar semi-regularly when I need to get work done in the evening (started doing that since coffee shops close early now). Always used their valet even though I was not an overnight guest, with no issues. I came to valet today intending to do the same, but had a valet attendant rush to my window and yell at me for attempting to use their service. They told me that since I was not an overnight guest, I could not park there (though I've never had an issue in the past) and yelled at me to leave. The valet lot is awkward and on a busy street with a steep hill. They wanted me to back around a corner into traffic to get out instead of turning around in their lot to leave. I stated that I did not feel safe doing that, and they were not willing to help direct me out of the lot, so I started turning around in the lot so that I could see and face traffic on the way out, but again was yelled at by a different attendant for doing so. It was an unnecessarily stressful experience. I understand that things get busy and employees can get stressed. However, pressuring a would-be customer to engage in dangerous driving practices (i.e., backing around a corner onto a busy downtown street, on a hill, with no support) is inexcusable. read more

So this was quite a hotel experience. The W is supposed to be one of the nicer hotels around Seattle but seemed to not live up the what they are branded as. Check in was great and Sarah was a ton of help. When we got to the room we realized there was no microwave or fridge, which was frustrating since we brought food to eat in between meals around Seattle. We asked them to bring a microwave to the room and they said we had to go to the kitchen to ask to use theirs. When we did that, we were treated in a very rude way and were asked to not be downstairs when we ate our food. It seems they design it like this so you have to eat food there and can't bring leftovers back with you to eat again. We received 2 $20 breakfast vouchers for each morning and $100 voucher for their restaurant because of my partners credit card benefits. When we stayed at the Grand Hyatt it was 2 free breakfasts no matter the cost. The way the W does it is $20 per meal but each meal ends up be $30+ after all of the fees, which was annoying as it was a $10 service fee abs $4 delivery with taxes only being like $7, but whatever. I was reading online that many people were charged extra at checkout, and we very much were. Our stay, in the end, was $693. When they first checked us out, it was almost $1100 and we had to battle to get many random fees taken off, including the vouchers they gave us of $180, which we handed them at checkout but they still tried to charge us. They also tried to charge us for the food and drink in the room, which we did not touch at all. Lastly, parking there is $68 a day but if you park half a block away, it's $39 a day, which we did. Will not be staying here again. read more

One star for the room being a decent size and another star for the room and place generally being clean. Besides that, this hotel stay was really lackluster. Upon arrival the door to enter the lobby was sort of sticky and there wasn't a doorman or really anyone to help guests with their luggage/door. We checked in on a Friday night and it was horrible a experience. The lobby has a dj on Friday nights and it was literally near impossible to hear anything that the front desk person was saying. Since we came in on Friday night, we were STARVING. All of the restaurants near the hotel close around 10pm, so prepare yourselves. We were trying to find sometime to grab at the hotel but all they had was room service... didn't even have like a grab and go section or a cafe open. So we got room service. Food was ok, but it was initially very confusing to figure out how to access the menu. Theres a button on the remote that is labeled menu, and there is also a dining tab that you in theory could access the menu there. But nope, neither of those actually pull up the menu. What you are supposed to know is that on channel three, there's a slide deck scrolling on that channel and when the QR code pops on the screen that will lead you to the menu! Obvious, right? Besides that the room itself was ok. Like I said, big and clean. However the decor is extremely dated and and the paint on the ceiling over the shower was definitely starting to peel. I've stayed at W hotels before, but this one seems like it needs a little bit of TLC and an update. read more

Came to Seattle for my birthday trip and we ended up staying at the W for the entirety of the trip. They really went out of their way to ensure the health safety of us. Our room is only cleaned upon our request or consent to limit possible exposure to Covid. The location is great and a good walking distance away from Pike Place and the mall area. Many stores were boarded up due to the difficulties of the time. I stay at the W hotels whenever I can and this one was definitely a positive experience even at such a hard time for everyone to adjust. read more

This is specific to the W Hotel BAR. We were at the hotel for a few days last month. We went to the bar a couple of evenings...fairly late. The bartender was decent--not bad but not stellar. However, both times we observed who seemed to be a bar manager just sort of standing behind the bar, not doing a lot but staring at various customers. At one point, it got really busy and he didn't rise to the occasion of helping out. In fact, at one point, he ducked out and we didn't see him again. In fact we also observed others--a couple of women behind the bar just standing there. We liked what we thought should have been the atmosphere of the bar, but there's sort of a negative energy there. Bad juju! read more

Dear W Hotel, Please, oh please, invest in some sound proofing between your guest rooms. Despite the super friendly staff, sleek room design and the fabulous body products found in each room, I found this visit to be far from restful. My favorite parts of staying with W were outweighed by the terrible sleep I had during my three night stay. The walls were so thin I could literally hear every word my neighbor was saying on the phone late at night and again at 5 -5:30 am (daily). Thanks to my neighbor using speaker phone, I could also literally hear every word her husband was saying on the phone. Ayaya. I ended up throwing a pillow over my head in an effort to cancel out the noise. The location is fantastic. Only a ten minute walk to Pike Place Market and five minute walk to train transit (connection to the airport). Back to the complimentary body products found in each room's bathroom: lovely, lovely, lovely- it's all about the face wash. One more note on the staff- they were all on their 'A' game. From the cleaning crew to the front desk- I was super impressed by the entire team. read more

Great location with Starbucks across the street and restaurants all over. You can walk to everything and light rail is one block away. Clean, quiet room with Bliss bath products. Staff were friendly and helpful, and offered up their own personal favorites around town. As an SPG member, and my first stay at a W property, I think this property is overpriced for what you get. When I am paying $500 a night MIDWEEK, I am expecting a suite, or something spectacular. In order for me to stay here again, they would need a pool/jacuzzi, upgraded bed linens, and more. Parking is $68 a night. (Look at other hotels nearby to park your car and you can do it for half price). If I booked again in Seattle, I would stay somewhere else. read more

***This review is for the room service food*** Got the ham and cheese panini and it did not disappoint. It was so good that I got it again the 2nd night I was there. I may be biased though as I was super hungry both nights and ordered room service after a long night of drinking... both nights... lol But, the fresh fruit salad and the mixed berry bowls in the morning were pretty good too. The strawberry smoothie is the only thing I wouldn't order again. It was a little on the sour side and it wasn't thick enough. It was a corner room on a high floor with a nice view of the city (Public Library, which has unique architecture). My room was clean and comfortable. I didn't need much from Housekeeping but they got me what I wanted (box of tissues) right away. I got a good rate bc of the conference I was attending. This hotel is pretty awful. Let's start with the rooms. They are like tiny hallways kinda like a prison cell. One window looking into the wall of another building. The bed was in shambles and had a pad on top that was a size too small to soften it some. The only seating area was like block furniture from a daycare center. The parking is insanely expensive at $68 per night. Police were in the hotel 2 of 3 nights. Homeless screaming on the street directly outside. Overall one of my worst hotel stays. This hotel was a disappointment. The front desk staff were not friendly or welcoming at all. The room we stayed in was also not great. The bathtub was clogged so each time we used the shower, the water would take forever to drain. For a hotel that's supposed to be luxurious, this was really a disappointment. I stayed at a couple other hotels during my stay in Seattle and out of 3 hotels, the W was the worst. Definitely didn't live up to my expectations. First Impression:: Came out to Seattle for a birthday weekend and decided to stay at the hotel due to the proximity to Pike Place Market. The hotel itself was in a great location. We ended walking to Pike Place Market, The Space Needle, and the Football/Baseball stadium from this central location and it was super easy. It also is right off the line from the train that goes to and from the airport. Also, all of the streets surrounding are great for finding restaurants and bars. The lobby was deceiving because there was a night club going on when we arrived, with DJ and awkwardly seated hotel guests, but the rooms were nice and I enjoyed my stay. Room:: The room was very large and clean. The beds were comfy and nothing really out of the ordinary. It was a very relaxing stay with no noise or anything too disruptive. I couldn't hear any of the other guests, or elevator traffic and I was right off the elevator! Bathroom:: The bathrooms were very cool, I have included a picture because I liked they way they were laid out. The shampoo & toiletries actually were very nice, and smelled amazing. we tried to steal more from the housekeeping cart. That doesn't matter to me, but it might to you! Service / Ambiance:: I am a fan of the hotel My fiance actually had a birthday cake and beers waiting for me when we arrived. They were very accommodating to her and she said that it wasn't even as expensive as she thought it would be (she refused to tell me the $$). I would definitely stay here again. read more

Had an amazing stay with my bf for Memorial weekend! (F-M) CHECKIN/OUT: Both were smooth and easy! STAFF: From the front desk to house cleaning personnel, everyone was welcoming and friendly. Front desk even told us to "Have a safe trip!" on our way out even though we had not checked out personally with them but through the app. ROOM: Not sure what room we booked as we kind of just picked at random, but it had everything we needed and was spacious enough for us. Bathroom was bigger than I was expecting! Can you say top tier hair and body products? I LOVE Davines and Skin Regimen products!! The W knows how to take care of their guests! BAR/LOUNGE: Great area to hangout at... you almost don't need to leave the hotel to enjoy a night out! BREAKFAST CAFE: Nice variety of items. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the egg, ham and cheese croissant, along with a cinnamon roll, tea and mimosa. Everything was given to us in a timely manner and was all very delicious! Try to get one small problem fixed and it's like moving mountains and I'm the problem. Sorry to see Seattle W and service go down hill.
