I was very excited to try this spot, as I love Latin food and empanadas especially. They have 3 for $10 empanadas, so I tried the black bean, the philly, and Colombian. I have to say the philly was my favorite, but they were all tasty! For lunch, my boyfriend got the chicken burrito and I got the chipotle burrito. Both were delicious and portion size was huge! The chicken burrito didn't have a lot of chicken- it was mostly beans and rice. The chipotle burrito, on the other hand, was stuffed with seitan. {Actual Date of Visit: 7/31/2011} I had to try the V-Spot as I love Cuban food and I'm a vegetarian. I ordered the Sunday night prix fixe special for $10. It includes a lentil soup, empanada, the quinoa with curried kale (without tofu in the prix fix menu). My favorite thing was the empanada. The food was plentiful and very fresh-tasting. For dessert I had the brownie sans a la mode since they ran out of ice cream - Booooo! The brownie tasted nuked, wasn't feeling it at all. I was surprised how minimal the decor was especially because of its location. It also didn't have a Cuban feel. I would have enjoyed some Cuban Son/Bolero/Jazz in the background. I think it's more Vegan than Cuban up in the V-Spot! But since I sat outside on the patio, I got to enjoy the beautiful sunset. read more

I use to love this vegan restaurant. I'm not sure if they got new ownership or new cooks but the food I received recently was totally disgusting and a complete waste of money. I ordered a Philly cheese hero, when I received my order via Uber eats the bread was extremely soggy and inedible. The sandwich was suppose to come with vegan chicken, seitan, and vegan cheese instead it just came with peppers onions and mushroom, which was extremely mushy and tasteless. It's tough to give a place that has such good food only three stars but I have to because service was absolutely terrible and the restaurant looks like it's someone's forgotten renovation project. There are holes and scuff marks on the walls, the paint is rubbed off in areas, there are wires on the floor. We went there for brunch and there were five of us. They have no sort of reservation system so when we got there we were told we would have to wait for them to call us which was fair. When we were finally seated they did not come up to take our order for twenty minutes (not an exaggeration, they were only three workers there). Finally I caught someone's eye who seemed to be the host/busboy/bartender and signaled that we were ready to order. He nodded but then started setting up another table rather than come to take our order. Eventually someone came to take our order. The food deserves four stars. It's delicious. But everything else was just absolutely heinous and I feel bad for the workers who have to run the whole thing and are obviously doing it either under bad management or non-existent management. read more

Columbian vegan food. Seriously. Like why is this not everywhere? Quaint little place. Clean. We came in during shift change so it was a bit slow but so freakin worth it. We had avocado fries and empanadas with wonderful sauces to start. Then I had a mind blowing Bandeja Paisa. Shut up. I can't even describe how good this was. The flavors were so spot on, textures perfectly balanced. Just wonderful. Had to get most of it to go but that should tell you how good it was because we were on our way to Greenwood Cemetery - I was willing to pack that deliciousness all over Brooklyn. Last week we ordered over $200 worth of food at this restaurant after hearing great things from friends. At first bite the food was good but then my wife found a shard of glass in her salad. Luckily she didn't swallow it. I immediately reached out to the restaurant to alert them. I wasn't looking for any refund but simply wanted to let them know what happened so they can see if there's something broken near where they're preparing the food. Fast forward to 1 week later and I still haven't received a phone call back from any manager. I've emailed and called many times and zero response. This would be a 3.5 stars place for me. The food was mediocre. I tried the summer rolls for appetizers, the chicken burrito as my entree and the ginger squeeze as my drink. The summer roll was poorly wrapped. Usually one side should be sealed so that not everything would fall out. But this wasn't the case here and the wrap is super thin. In addition, it was dry without the sauce. I don't know if I would have been able to finish it. The burrito and the drink was good though. The burrito was filling and the drink was fresh. We went on a Monday night and the place was crowded--especially for a party of 3 like ours. Two tables could have been pushed together but instead the server just shuttled us to the counter overlooking the street. He seemed surly and abrupt but maybe he just wasn't trained. We ordered an appetizer to share (Nachos Supreme), which was okay. But all three of our entrees (quesadilla, side of garlic bread; two tacos [carne and mushroom], and cheese steak sandwich) were incredibly bland and underwhelming. First off Jamaican don't mean spicy, literally it was no flavor in nothing that was brought to the table. Summary: The food here is 5 stars worthy, but the in-person dining experience is 1-star worthy so I averaged to 3. Details: We've been ordering delivery from here for years - the food is good and it arrives reasonably fast. We've also dined here before the pandemic and it was a nice experience. That has drastically changed with the new terrible "toast tab" in-restaurant dining experience. You basically walk in and eventually get greeted by the one employee who is only half paying attention to people in the restaurant. He walks you to a table, places a glass bottle of water on the table and promptly leaves. We then figure out on our own that we are supposed to view the menu through a QR code (which is also used to order your food and pay). The only other time we saw the "waiter" is when he brought our food to the table. At one point we were done and stopped him while he was walking by and asked for a to-go box. He said sure and walked away and forgot about the request immediately because we just sat there a long while while he went about his business doing other things. We then noticed the to-go boxes sitting on a shelf next to the bar and just grabbed one ourselves. The real kicker here is when you pay they add a 10% service charge in addition to a tip! There was barely ANY service, what exactly am I paying a 10% service charge for? Of course we tipped too because we are decent people, but even that felt like a scam because in addition to this phantom 10% charge the person working there really did the bare minimum... it was roughly equivalent to the amount of service you would get at McDonalds where they grab your burger from the rack and put it in a bag and hand it to you.... actually, it's less service than McDonalds because they actually have a human taking your order and assisting with the paying process. The experience was very transactional given the lack of human interfacing, and the surprise 10% "service" fee (for almost no service) means I will likely never dine here again. The chips and salsa are super delicious with just the right amount of spice. I wish they put more salsa in the container because it is just sooo good. The empanadas are cooked perfectly and would highly recommend the bean ones, they are sweet yet also savory. All of their wraps and sandwiches are excellent. This is the worst customer service experience in New York! The bartender/waiter is arrogant and unfriendly. The first visit we ignored his ridiculous rule that 2ppl cannot sit at a 4-top, even though they're closing in 45min (as if 3 large parties were going to rush in 10 minutes before closing and they needed to be prepared). I decided to go for the traditional arepa and a side of their tofu scramble (Sunday brunch). The server ended up giving me the breakfast platter in error so I ended up tasting the tempeh bacon which was pretty good (I would order it now that I've tried it). The steps and cheese was delicious and since I was having brunch, I topped it with tofu and bacon . My husband ordered the Seitan tacos and was very happy with his choice. We were pretty curious about the avocado fries but they didn't turn out good for us (deep fried avocado slices... weird and tasteless). We travel from south Jersey to buy this food. We order huge amounts of food,not just for our family but for our vegan friends. We picked up our order at the Brooklyn location yesterday and they forgot out avocado and the burrito was wrapped in foil, which different. My daughter realized that the burrito was also hot, so she opened it and it was a soggy mess. We brought it to the attention of the cashier and he was so rude and disrespectful, we told him to refund us. The service is horrible, there is no manager or anyone to report this matter to. read more

Vspot has an attractive concept, especially for a Latin food lover like myself that also happens to be a vegetarian. Once I'd heard about their avocado fries I made it my duty to stop in and give them a try. I walked in around 430 on a Sunday and was greeted by the bartender, Jason. I originally was going to order take out but decided to pull up a stool and eat in at the bar. Vspot doesnt offer much decorwise, its basic with seating for around 20. I was told they have outdoor seating as well but the area wasn't setup as of yet. Jason was friendly, had great conversation skills and was helpful with explaining items on the menu. They have a ton of options and I decided to start with a drink, a whiskey ginger. Jason made this perfectly, it was delcious and strong but balanced. A nice mix of Jameson and Jamaican ginger ale. Two of those and I was giggling to myself. Like I said before, I was adamant on trying their avocado fries. I'd also heard good things about their vegan empanadas so I was hype to order those. The avocado fries were amazing! Crunchy, with the most ripe, creamy avocado filling!! The accompanying mayo was a great compliment too, tangy in all the right ways. Jason informed me it was a mix of their house salsa and vegan mayo, simple but it had a nice flavor. The black bean empanada I ordered was stuffed! Lots of beans and plantain but was pretty dry and lacked flavor. The accompanying salsa verde was spicy! A lil too spicy for my liking. Jason suggested their vegan sour cream instead, he said he loved it with the black bean empanadas and boy was he right. I loved it too! The flavor was reminiscent of macadamian nuts which omg was so good. I also ordered a side of curried kale and chickpeas which was delicious. The chickpeas were cooked perfectly, soft to the bite and the kale was great. Everything was seasoned just right. The coconut curry sauce it came in didnt give much curry flavor but lots of color. The coconut flavor didn't come through as much either but the dish itself was seasoned well. Jason hooked me up with some complimentary pistachio ice cream that was absolutely delish. It was creamy and soy based, which definitely isn't my usual but was worth it. Sweet and creamy with the right amount of crushed pistachios mixed in, it was delectable. I cannot even begin to describe this outing to the V-spot. As quoted by a friend, "we're going to the V-spot to find the G-spot." And the only meat you will find is a "duck's ass" on some woman's head (this is in reference to the 50s hairdo). This is one of those experiences that I will likely not forget. It is going down as a chapter in my book that I have been planning to write for the past 15 years. What a joke that is. A friend tipped me off to an event here organized by Women About. Needless to say, I arrived for the dinner and knew no one at the table. Awkward. But luckily, everyone was super friendly and welcoming. I eased right in without much difficulty. OK. There was big soup fuck-up. A few of us ordered different sizes of butternut squash soup and well let's just say that we all got the wrong order. I got the large which I didn't ask for, but kindly shared it with the woman sitting next to me (she did order a large). There was another woman at the table that had no idea what she ordered. She forgot her glasses and had the waitress read out the menu to her and she just picked something randomly and then promptly forgot what she ordered. What a clusterfuck. But for some strange reason, I had a blast and was really enjoying myself. I also ordered the summer rolls, but it came out as an appetizer when I wanted it as a main course. It was pretty so-so. They put avocadoes in it, and well that was just weird. The peanut dressin was also weak. My friend ordered a pad thai tempeh, but instead, she got pad thai tofu. Some other woman at the table ended up with her pad thai tempeh. Man, it really felt like a circus. The waitresses (abeit cute) were just overwhelmed. V-spot really does not have the capacity for a group dinner of 15 people. They must've felt like someone shoved some poles up their you-know-what! But despite the chaos and insanity, I enjoyed myself. I prefer an exciting experience over mediocre. I don't do mediocrity. I'm not going to forget the convos surrounding latrines and duck asses...
