As an aspiring vegan, I am always in search of a cool vegan/vegetarian spot. I went to Vspot as one of the first places I ate out in Brooklyn. The first time I went I got the Vspot burrito and it was good. They serve it with a salad and dressing. I wanted to try the nacho supreme and tacos next. So I went back the next week and got the carne molida and grilled chik'n tacos as well as the nachos. They were also very mediocre. The nacho chips were a bit too oily and there weren't enough toppings. The tacos were alright. The carne molida was better in my opinion than the grilled chik'n. The price was a bit too pricey for the food quality. If I were to go back or for anyone going for the first time, I would definitely go with the Vspot burrito. read more

now I haven't tried every vegan spot in Brooklyn... but lemme tell u my partner and I were here for a week and we became regulars. We ordered four bandeja paisas hoping we'd have leftovers but immediately cleared our plates. As a Colombian shawty I near cried eating it because it can be so hard to find quality latine vegan food that feels authentic. I love this place. Perfect place to bring a vegan and a celiac. Super kind staff / owners. I've eaten here in-person and ordered for delivery. In-person, very cozy, attentive service. Usually anywhere you can get brunch on Mother's Day is super-packed, but thankfully we got lucky with this place. We had called 15 minutes in advance and were able to be seated right away with a party of 5. We quickly got carafes of water and observed the menu. I decided to go with the Brunch Hero, which is like a hoagie with vegan sausage, tofu scramble, maple syrup and some other ingredients on a tasty sesame bun. My nieces got pancakes (one with blueberries, one with candied pecans) and both of them thoroughly enjoyed. My sister got the Steak Brunch, and bro-in-law got the NYC Breakfast Plate. I sampled some things, and I gotta say I have no complaints to offer on anything I tasted. After finishing my meal, I decided to order the raw cacao shake. I had never seen one before, and was oh so curious! There was an option to add avocado for $1, and I could not turn that down. The bitterness of the cacao, the thickness of the avocado, and the subtle sweetness of the other ingredients made for a refreshing shake. I would just note one thing: VSpot makes an in-house almond milk from scratch, and the almonds used are raw, not processed like your typical store-bought brands. If you have any allergies or adverse reactions to almonds, BEWARE! I would recommend they put a noticeable disclaimer on there so there are no victims. Shout out to to the free Wi-Fi though! Food was good. Not sure why the 20% TIP(for two people dining) thats included in the bill is labeled as "Service charge". We didn't realize and wound up tipping another 20% on top. Waitress seem uninterested in correcting this when we mentioned it..guess they got a 40% tip today.. Also..there really is no service. You order on an the app and pay on the app with little to no communication with anyone there(I know its covid times..but we eat out several times a week and never experience this). Also,the door was locked when we got there(the hours said they were open for business)whoever sat us seemed annoyed by customers. So I would have liked to give this restaurant 5 stars because the food is 10/10. We got the breaded avocado fries which was out of this world ! It was the right amount of crispy and so fresh. Then we had the empanadas, which was also very yummy as well and filling. The sweet plantain supreme tasted just like a non vegan one which I have had before and love. There was so much flavor and the plantain was just right. My friend got the bandeja paisa, the mini which was ALOT of food. She loved it and said everything tasted amazing. The raspberry cheesecake, was a bit hard but still tasty for a vegan option. If you want yummy out of this world Latin vegan food order from here however DO NOT recommend sitting down for service...as it basically is non-existen. We walked in and it was empty...the one and only "waiter" barely acknowledged us as he was busy watching tv. Then after a brief moment said oh sit wherever you want. We proceeded to sit and then he brought two glasses with a bottle of water. After that he went back to watching tv! Lol complete joke and beyond strange ! So after sitting there starring at eachother we figured out that "oh there is a QR code for the menu". Their whole setup with this QR code is just strange not not customer service friendly AT ALL. I'm writing this review based on an event I recently attended catered by VSPOT. The catering was well done, the food was good, not outstanding. The seitan tacos were decent, but falling apart (still yummy with a fork though), the summer spring rolls were boring - mostly lettuce - but the real standout and reason for 4 stars instead of 3 were the "cheeseburger" empanadas (vegan of course). Enrique greeted us and was so kind and super friendly. When we weren't sure about ordering a particular item because of the sauce, he brought us out a sampling of the sauce. The food was absolutely delicious. So fresh and well prepared. We ordered the Belgian fries, 3 empanadas(we preferred the philly mushroom), Mexican yellow rice and crispy chicharrones. By far the best Vegan food I ate !!!! The buffalo chicken (vegan) are amazing !!!! The fries which are my favorite hit the spot !!! I ordered via Uber eats and was not let down at all. I will be personally coming in to sit down and eat. The food is seasoned to taste and well cooked. Often times most vegan food is bland, but V-Spot has definitely hit the roof with taste and flavor. Man oh man this little pictures does no justice for how good the empanadas are at V Spot. I tried 3 out of the 4 that they had (red beans and rice, Jamaican , and the Philly cheesesteak). V-Spot is one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood by far, and at least 50% of the reason for that is their chocolate brownie. In fact, this review is pretty much an ode to the chocolate brownie, given I've ordered quite a few of these in the past few months. Definitely the most decadent vegan dessert I've ever tried. I've gotten it to go before, but have to admit it's much better when eaten in the restaurant. It's served super warm with melted chocolate and white chocolate chips. On another note, the rest of their food menu is pretty good, with lots of great and diverse options that even my meat-eating friends really liked. I tried a plate with three assorted empanadas (3 for $10) and enjoyed all of them. To summarize - their food options are awesome. Have eaten here on numerous occasions out of convenience. The negative experiences outweigh the positive. Service: Do not come here when you are in a rush. Especially during busier hours. Often extremely long wait times to even have them put a water or menu on your table. And sip slowly because you're not likely getting a refill. Food: Hit or miss. The tortilla chips they make in-house and are delicious. The portobello salad is nice. The entrees are okay, nothing to write home about. The quesadilla for $7 is an absolute joke (see attached picture). Also I'm a little aggravated that I ordered empanadas and did not receive any dipping sauces. Nobody likes a dry empanada. Nobody. I must admit that I still have not sit inside this Vegan restaurant and order but I have gotten many take-outs from The V-Spot. Whenever I get a chance during my frequent visits with family in Brooklyn I would try to stop by for snacks. My Vegan & Gluten-Free friends love this place and they got me hooked on the empanadas (2 for $7) and summer rolls ($6). They make great finger food. The raw Nori rolls ($10) are when I am feeling deserving. Even my mom liked the summer rolls; she did asked "where is the meat?" THIS PLACE IS SPECTACULAR!! I want to start off by saying I am a die hard meat lover and couldn't tell that I was eating vegan, that's how amazing this food taste. The empanadas are beyond amazing!! They're big, stuffed, the salsa is so good, fresh and taste great, spicy but not too much. Just the right amount of kick to it. The lasagna was really really great too and the garlic bread was seriously PERFECT! If I would have been blind folded I really wouldn't have known that the place was vegan at all, I mean everything had such great flavor. Afterwards I was super full but I didn't feel like I had to sleep like I usually do after a big meaty meal. The staff was really nice too. Lots of knowledge about the dishes and how they're made. One of the owners spoke to us about the 1st Thursday night comedy show they have, which we have to come to as well. He was super cool. I'll totally be coming back with more and more people! Let me start off by saying that the food was delicious! OMG! I took my brother out for his birthday to this Vegan restaurant because he is a health freak and doesn't eat meat. I myself was a little skeptical about eating Vegan food at first but said why not give it a try. I'm glad that I did! The servers were amazing I forgot to ask them their names but they were super friendly and accommodating. My brother ordered the bandeja paisa (chicharron) are to die for, they were fried to perfection. La "carne molida" relleno in the platano maduro was tasty and fresh. My son enjoyed his Avocado BLT....it was a decent portion ... he immediately said "Mom, can we come back next week?" lol. I brought a sparkly candle so We can sing Happy Birthday to my brother. So I asked one of the waiters if he didn't mind bringing out a slice of carrot cake and light the candle for me .....they delivered!!!!!Both waiters came out and sang Happy birthday making the experience extra special. Every time I dine here, I'm surprised by how on point the food is. Everything is so delicious and flavorful. I can't handle much spice so it means a lot when I say V Spot has the perfect amount of it. My fave starter is the arepa con todo; you will love their thick corn patty! For dinner I recommend the quinoa wrap, which is absolutely loaded with quinoa, kale, and squash. Even the side salad is exciting with a unique herb dressing. I love getting a side of plantains as well (although I'm not crazy about the sauce it comes with). You can't forget about dessert and you won't go wrong with whatever you choose. The restaurant has great seating with a variety of chairs, stools, and booths spaced out nicely. The service I've had is always great with our water constantly being refilled without the need to ask. The prices are also extremely reasonable and even a bargain compared to similar meals at other places. If you haven't tried V Spot, you must. I stopped here the other night and had a lovely experience. Since I was by myself, I sat at the bar and was able to order my food with a QR code. My food came so quick! For my appetizer I had the Jamaican Jerk Empanadas, and the Philly Cheese & Pepper Hero w/fries for my entree. Yes, I was hungry and VSPOT did not disappoint. Moment of silence for those amazing empanadas...specifically the Jamaican and Black Bean. So addicting. I literally could have jusy had those with fries and called it a day. I also had the spinach one but didn't care for that one as much. My friend enjoyed it though. They were sooo filling and I totally get why they are $4 a pop. Just get the 3 for 10. For my entree, I got the Philly hero. You couldn't tell me it wasn't the real deal. Flavorful and filling. Once again, for $11 with a side salad, you can't beat that. All in all, though the parking can be a pain, I could definitely see myself coming back here. Easily one of the best vegan spots I have ever tried and I would have no problem bringing non-vegans here as the food is just that good.
