I had lunch today at V's Kitchen, a new Southern restaurant that opened on the corner of Miami Blvd and Alexander Dr in RTP (behind Sheetz). I believe it moved from another location in Durham? My coworkers checked it out last Friday and were already wanting to go again. The menu is small, but what they have is damn good. I ordered the fried chicken, aware it would take a few minutes because they were making it fresh. Well worth the wait. It came out piping hot, crispy and juicy. Each entree comes with 2 sides and your choice of cornbread or a roll. I chose the green beans and spicy cabbage, with cornbread. All top notch. The freshy made red velvet cupcake is reason alone to visit V's. Best I've ever had. I was going to take a picture, but it looked so good I forgot :) Service is friendly and efficient, the restaurant is cozy with organ music playing (at least while we were there), and the walls display the work of local artists. Mother V!!!! My food was phenomenal and I can be a hard person to please. This was my first time and I will be sure to return when I'm in Durham. Great southern cooking. I had fried chicken, Mac and cheese as well as the sweet chili cabbage! Everything was excellent! The cabbage was so great, that it will a staple for my plate every time I go here. The are an RTP lunch location, so are only open until 2:00, so make the trip! I also saw they do catering. Interesting. I can't say the food was bad. But it was not AMAZING. Well seasoned chicken but my meat was tough. The gravy was good. The greens were obviously frozen Or canned. The greens were shredded instead of cut up. The macaroni and cheese was ok. For 3 cheeses I expect more flavor. For 8$ it wasn't a bad meal. I will probably be back and spice the food up when I get home. Does it taste like my grandma made it ? No. Lol. Still on the search for a good soul food restaurant. read more

My fiancé and I absolutely love V's Kitchen we accidentally stubbled upon this shopping center and were very pleased. The ribs are amazing, the fried chicken is exceptional, all the sides are tasty, and the desserts are delicious. I only have one personal negative and it's the hours of this establishment. Unfortunately, I work in healthcare and literally don't get off work till 7. If I hadn't requested off work to take care of personal things I would have never gotten the time to try it. & as much as we loved it we probably couldn't never do take out with our work schedules. That's the only negative downside but I still wouldn't take away points in my rating it was that great. read more

This was my second visit at V's Kitchen. The taste of the food was ok...but for the amount of food that you get was not impressed based on the price you pay. I ordered the wing dinner and got 4 little small wings and was told that it would be like getting 8 wings. I've gotten more at the Pit and Chicken Hut in Durham for the price and at Wild Wings in Brier Creek. I was trying to patronize the place since it is close to where I live. Sooo today V's catered out office holiday party, and I must say, I was rather impressed! I had some fried chicken, greens, cabbage, green beans, corn bread, and mac and cheese. I must say that I really enjoyed the Mac and cheese! I was not bashful in helping myself to seconds and I can confidently say that if I had the opportunity to take left overs home, I would have been all over that! The greens had great flavor and the corn bread was good too! I will most definitely have to stop by sometime to explore the other menu items y'all have to offer! I've eaten here almost every week for the last two months. I'm impressed with the meatloaf that is the special of the day most Wednesdays. It comes with a choice of two side dishes and cornbread. I couldn't say if the food is good or not because I waited for over 25 minutes for my lunch while tables around me received their food. I ordered a simple vegetable plate and arrived before the lunch rush however people who ordered after me repeatedly received their food . I have been there several times and will continue to go there when I need cooking as good as grandma's! Keep serving the good food V! To the New customers, judge for yourself.. I have been there, waited and never got 1Star food or service. The Staff is always polite and apologetic, especially when they are packing multiple call in orders and there is a wait! Respect doesn't seem knowledgeable of the dishes that they have in the restaurant I've tried them twice and I haven't felt any different I felt like the food came in from another establishment and they just warmed it up. If you like southern food, this place is very good. No other place around here makes food like my family does. They also have cheeseburgers but the meatloaf was the special today which I got with mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. I finally got the chance to try this establishments food. I found it behind a Sheetz station off the strip on S Miami. It is presently a small hole in the wall business, but the food is what I like to call real southern cooking not the immitation food most places advertise as southern food and it tastes like something the south would not want to claim! I ordered 2pc fried chicken (leg & wing parts), fried to perfection (if it was a touch more crispy, it'd of been even better). I ordered with that Collard/Cabbage (the mix). Very tasteful. And a side of potato salad. The potato salad was the traditional taste with the mustard in it, but yet tasteful. May have been prepared for a few days but still tasteful. With cornbread. I ate every bit of it, nothing went in the garbage & I wasn't upset with it! I would recommend her establishment to anyone who wants good food. Next I will try her Pork Ribs. While I was working in the Area one of my co workers came in to work with a delicious looking Fried Pork Chop. I asked where they got it from and that is when I found out about V's Kitchen. The location was not hard to find and when I went into the restaurant I was greeted when I open the door. That is a real big plus. The menu is not hard to read and or understand. I ordered the fried pork chop, greens and 3 cheese macaroni. Every thing was welled seasoned and fresh. The greens were well seasoned and they had an unbelievable flavor to the point where you can tell they were homemade. I have eaten there a couple more times and each and every time that I dined at this location the service was excellent and the food was fresh. I recommend this location to every one.
