Curry chicken with rice and peas, mac & cheese with garlic mash for sides with corn bread.
Robert N.

Definitely would come back here and try more food. The curry chicken with rice & peas fire(i wish the rice was a bit softer). Garlic mash potatoes flavorful & creamy, the mac & cheese is really good. The chicken is fall of the bone and juicy. The corn bread is so good I had to get another one to go and the hush puppies tasted great. It's a must to try here. Service is great, the place is clean and quiet when sitting in to eat.

My friend saw this place on TikTok and wanted to try it since we were in the area - And honestly, she had me sold at fried ribs!! We walked in and the line moved pretty quick, we were greeted by the friendly cashier who was so nice and great at making recommendations! This is a black owned business and boy have they hit mark with customer service! Love to see it!! I asked what was her favorite items on the menu and she mentioned a few things one of which was oxtail so I decided to go with that, and also ordered wings for the boy's and fried ribs to take home. They had delicious side choices and such a variety that it was hard to choose. For each meal you can choose either 1 side or two. I selected mashed potatoes, turkey greens, Mac n cheese, Candied yams. They were all delicious and the yams in my opinion were just okay, I felt like they were a little more firm than I like and were a bit under seasoned (not as sweet), however my friend loved them that way - So, I guess it depends on your palette. My friend ordered the fried ribs and a bunch of sides which were - potatoe salad, fried okra, white rice with oxtail gravy, turkey greens and the yams. She loved all her sides and stated the greens were just okay - I happened to really enjoy the greens. Listen, we sat at our table by the window and patiently waited for our names to be called. This place isn't that big, they are four seater tables and very limited room, so I can see them filling up pretty quickly on a busy night, I didn't like that they had the heat on because it gets really warm really quick in small spaces. Conversations also overlap each other as again the space is tight, but clean and efficient! "Order for Stephanie" - I grabbed my food that was staked nicely and placed in a black plastic bag, the food is served in Styrofoam to go containers but we decided to dine in cause we were hungry. I did not get to photograph the food because we all sat at that tiny table and inhaled almost all of it! The food was fresh, seasoned to perfection and just oh so delicious! The oxtail - 10/10 - Seasoned to perfection, tender fall off the bones, served over a bed of rice and beans and plantains, this was in addition to the two other sides it came with, all for about $24 which in my opinion is a steal. The fried ribs - 8/10 - These were also seasoned to perfection and served with a carolina sauce, the meat was tender and falling off the bones. $16+ tax with two sides. The fried chicken wings - 10/10 - When asked about the wings my 7yr old said "Thumbs Up Mom". - They were beautifully golden brown and fried to perfection! He also really enjoyed the mashed potatoes. We also ordered dessert, my friend had the birthday cake with sprinkles and I had the strawberry cake! Both were outstanding! I managed to take a photo of the remnants of my strawberry cake... So happy we got to try this spot out, Support this black business! Friendly staff, clean establishment, fast service, fresh delicious food that tastes like it was made with love, go get you some!

Oxtail with Rice & Peas, Candied Yams, & Baked Macaroni & Cheese...
Tee C.

When I say they put their whole foot in this food, I mean it. (For those of you who don't understand what that means, it means the food is REALLY REALLY good). I had been craving oxtails and was at an event around the corner so I decided to pick up dinner. I had the oxtails with candied yams and Mac & cheese with rice and peas. It was amazing! It reminded me of family gatherings. The oxtails were tender and the gravy was perfect! I will definitely come back. The customer service was excellent! 10/10 definitely recommend.

This place is great! We were greeted immediately by the young lady at the front entrance. Our food was served within 10 minutes. My partner loved his oxtails and sides. The rice was a bit too spicy for him but he loved the food overall. I had Cajun catfish. It was cooked to perfection though I couldn't taste the Cajun seasoning. I loved the plantain. They were room temperature as the rest of my meal was made fresh. I'd go back!

Fried ribs

This was AWFUL they forgot our sauces, the ribs are terrible, and the fish sandwich looked like it came from someones house.. will not order from here again. We were so excited to try and my sister couldnt even eat her ribs. It states it comes with a savory sauce drizzle and mine was supposed to come with tartar.

Oxtail combo, Baked Macaroni & Cheese, Turkey Collards& Plantains
Sherena S.

The Plantains were the star of the show. 10/10. Mac and cheese was sweet, and didn't give baked. Didn't really like it. Collards were just alright. This is not my first time here. First time my oxtails were soooo good. This time around not so much. I'm guessing it's just a hit or miss kinda restaurant. Not much of an ambiance but they did have a good gospel playlist and The service was really good. I loved the people working there!

I love discovering new restaurants! After getting my brows done I noticed this amazing spot. Soul food and Caribbean food in one location. They offer wings, fish, tenders, jerk chicken and so many yummy sides. Prices are very affordable and you get a lot of food for the price. Service is amazing. The food is cooked to order so call ahead or plan to wait. The food is fresh and flavorful and pretty darn good! The Mac and cheese is moist and cheesy. Just how I like it. The inside is clean and sleeked. I can't wait to try other menu items!

Service was good and young lady at the counter was welcoming and personable. She informed us of about 4 things on the menu that we couldn't order because they were out. The fried ribs being one. I appreciate her telling us ahead of time. We wanted to try the fried ribs though. We ordered the Cajun catfish w fries, fried shrimp, and chicken wings. The food was so salty I could feel my whole body swelling up. It would have been so much better and enjoyable had they been a little less heavy handed on the seasoning. If you don't mind a bit of hypertension, then you'll find the food tasty.

Excellent food , atmosphere and service! I saw this place Tik Tok and Instagram. I live in Fayetteville and I had an event to attend in Durham and decided to stop by 'Vittles at the Park', best choice I could have made! Honey Siracha breaded wings (8)/crisp, tasty, Baked Mac n cheese/creamy and cheesy, Turkey Collard Greens/well seasoned ,roll...it was all Delicious! Shout out to kind, helpful with suggestions and welcoming cashier Alexis!

Jerk Salmon over Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Baked Macaroni & Cheese Candied Yams.

Food, excellent. Service, exceptional. Only 10min wait . Wish I could have given more than 5 stars!! My only complaint was eating off of a spork. Now excuse me while I squeeze into my tiny shirt as my big back has no room.

Stew Chicken meal

Very disappointed in the stew chicken as I was only provided chicken back in my meal. There was way to much gravy and soggy rice and peas. The highlight was the Mac and cheese but, the yams taste like it came out of a can

"Outstanding Jamaican takeout in a strip-mall by the DMV"…read more Came here on a Saturday at 6:15pm- about 4 other people were waiting for food (likely takeout). The restaurant was bright with 7 small tables that seat 2-4, and a few photos or bits of artwork. The lady behind the counter was periodically yelling (not in an aggressive way- just FYIs) either to the kitchen or to people waiting. If you didn't order ahead, one orders their food at a tablet by the door and then their order number is called. As we awaited our food, the place really filled in with a line at the counter. I confess it got really loud and distracting in there. I ordered the jerk chicken platter, with rice & beans (it said "peas" but it was black beans) and sweet potatoes, with jerk sauce on the chicken and oxtail sauce on the rice & beans. My girlfriend got the mac & cheese and a veggie patty. Our food was ready in about 20 minutes. It was a HUGE quantity, and outstanding quality! The chicken was soft-- so much so that I could eat it ok with even a plastic fork and knife (though metal would have been better-- again, takeout is the better choice). The jerk sauce had some zing but not overwhelming heat, and the flavor was excellent-- good sweetness and excellence. The rice and beans with oxtail sauce was also phenomenal. And the sweet potatoes were rich and delightful. My girlfriend was happy with her food too. The staff there were friendly, but they were SUPER busy with the many orders coming in. The price was great, too-- under $40 for us both, and I was STUFFED at the end. Overall, outstanding food. The setting is chaotic, so I'd say 3-stars if you eat-in but 5-stars for takeout. I'll happily come back for takeout, and I HIGHLY recommend.

The food here is soooooo good. I got a large portion of the brown stew chicken with rice & peas and…read moremac & cheese. $20 for the chicken with 2 sides, and a $3 upcharge for the mac & cheese. The chicken is dark meat served on the bone - and by on the bone, I mean falling off the bone, it's so tender and moist. There are also some carrots and potato bits in the gravy, and I would happily eat a whole bowl of just those. The rice and peas (beans) were perfectly cooked. When I ordered through the Toast tab screens they have set up, it gave the option of indicating whether and how much gravy you'd like on the rice. I did the standard amount, which I think is just right, as the rice balances out the saltiness of the gravy. The mac & cheese was also really good - creamy, with some chewy baked cheese crust, and a hint of tanginess. The large portion was a ton of food. I shared my plate with my toddler, who loved the chicken, and it would be enough for at least one more meal. I also got a chicken patty, which had a curried chicken filling that brought a bit of heat. Too spicy for little kids, but not so spicy that I was hurting from eating it. We ate in the restaurant, which is clean with several tables. It's counter service, and it seems like they pack everything as if it's to go, even if you dine in. For folks with kids, they do have a single high chair. I don't remember seeing a changing table in the ladies room.

"Delicious Honduran food just south of I-85 on Guess Rd in Durham"…read more Came here on a Saturday evening a little after 6pm-- this is the building that used to be "Pad Thai" a few years ago. There's parking out front, but not a ton, and a bit more along the side. Inside, there's a counter by the door with a register and mints (and probably where one would pickup takeout), but you wait to get seated. The place was bright with interesting Central American paintings and lively music. A few tables were taken but it was hardly what I'd call "busy". I ordered the Tajada con carne molida (fried plantains with ground beef) off the "Honduran menu". My dining partner had a creamy chicken mofongo. We also had Jarritos sodas-- I got the pineapple and she had the tamarind. One awkwardness was that the menu didn't have any prices, but I assumed (correctly) that nothing would be crazy expensive that we ordered (though weirdly the tamarind and pineapple Jarritos were different prices). Service was good-- although English was a second language, our server made do, accurately took our order, and was attentive. As other reviewers noted, this is not a speedy place-- I think it was at or maybe over 20 minutes to get our food, but that was fine. Both dishes were really good. The creamy sauce on the mofongo was to-die-for... so yummy. And I enjoyed my plantain/ beef dish-- my dining partner said it was somewhat analogous to "nachos" in a funny way, and she's not wrong. The plantains were pretty stiff-- almost like plantain chips, but still yummy, and the beef and accompaniments were excellent (see photo). The quantity was HUGE-- both of us had enough easily for a second meal. Price wasn't bad-- with the drinks and tax and tip, it was slightly over $50 total. Overall, I'm very happy we tried this place, and I have every intention of coming back.

My Afro-Latina heart was so happy…read more I've been searching for really good Latin food since moving to North Carolina, and Boricua Soul absolutely delivered. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was on point. They were playing great music that made the whole place feel lively and welcoming, and I loved that you can choose to eat inside or enjoy the outdoor patio. My husband and I both ordered the Boricua Soul Bowl. He got the chicken, and I got the pernil. The pernil was incredible it was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The bowl came with arroz con gandules, collard greens, mac and cheese, and I chose the tostones. I had honestly given up on finding good tostones that I didn't have to make myself, but these were exactly what I'd been craving. Crispy, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious with the Guava Lava sauce. Since, I couldn't pass them up, we also ordered a side of maduros, and they were perfectly caramelized and sweet. The empanadas easily made my top five. Crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside, and gone way too quickly. Also don't skip the watermelon lemonade, it was so refreshing and paired perfectly with everything we ordered. We'll definitely be back. There are still so many things on the menu I want to try, but I already know I'll be ordering the Boricua Soul Bowl. One tip for first-time visitors: if you're sitting inside and trying to get back outside , the exit is the same door you originally came in through on the far glass door. There is a sign, but we watched three different people accidentally try every other part of the glass first, so hopefully this saves someone a little confusion.

Jamaica Jamaica has been around forever as a staple to the RTP area, and while the rest of the…read moreworld has been changing, a lot of Jamaica Jamaica has remained the same since I was younger, which I have no problem with! With their big lunch boxes, and delicious food, Jamaica Jamaica got me hooked on Jamaican/Caribbean food and I consider it one of my favorite cuisines. I'd say my Jamaica Jamaica life could be split into 3 segments, in which I would always get the same thing no matter what. My first phase was the curry chicken - such a fantastic dish with chicken that came off the bone, a vibrant curry sauce, and potatoes and carrots to round out the dish. When you paired it with rice, cabbage and plantains, it was an almost perfect meal. My second phase was the curry shrimp, I was always enticed by having a seafood option. The flavors of the curry shrimp were the same as the curry chicken, except the vegetables varied. I enjoyed this dish too, but I would say the biggest issue would be that the shrimp sometimes got really soft after sitting out for some time. My current phase is their Jerk chicken. I would say that their Jerk chicken is unique because they make the chicken, but they let it sit in a sauce that soaks up the seasoning. This is a great topper for my rice, but I think it contributes to the fact that the Jerk chicken is definitely not as flavorful as I know it to be. It misses the mark on bringing the heat, it has some flavor and heat but it is very very mild in my opinion. Generally speaking, I would be aware of the Jerk chicken drying out. This has happened to me on an occasion or two, along with the rice being dry too. Outside the realm of food, I would say the interior could use a little work. The furniture is a bit dated and things are cluttered. However, the staff working there is nice and they always pack the food in a big to-go container, so you can bring it back to the office, and then home because they are not shy about the portions. Glad that hasn't changed!

We ended up getting the Señor Iglesias Chicken Sandwich, which was good but very messy. The chicken isn't a patty and the bun isn't solid enough to hold the sandwich together so the tomato and chicken strips were constantly falling out. The Spanglish Cuban was very meaty and good as well. Not my type of sandwich but that's what I got from the bite I did have and my fiancé loved it. The pinto beans and steamed white rice were good.
