My mom treated me to dinner on Tuesday, 04-29-24. She'd highly recommended V's. I'd planned to get the veggie plate but she recommended either the ribs or the oxtail. I went with the ribs; they came with two sides. I chose the mac and cheese and the sweet potatoes. The entrée also came with cornbread. We also had a side of the cabbage/collard green mix. It was very good. The staff was pleasant. They had a good selection of music playing during our short wait. I forgot to take pictures of my food. Should my mom decide to bring me back, I'll have a tough time deciding on the veggie plate and the oxtail.

We were on the hunt for some good southern food in Durham and this was recommended to us. Located in a small parking lot with other small eateries, it's pretty easy to find. The location is has proper COVID19 protocol in place. You can't eat in, but you can await for your food - they still limit how many people can be inside and within 6 feet apart. We ordered: Ox Tail plate - it comes with rice, two sides, and bread. We opted for mac and cheese and cabbage/collard mix. The meat was soooo tender and flavorful! Like it was literally falling off the bone. Very meaty pieces and not bone/fatty pieces. The gravy was thick and flavorful as well - it made them taste like a hearty pot roast! Next time, I will ask if I can have it over mashed potatoes instead of rice. The mac and cheese was good not bad at all just not something I would be overly excited about. The cabbage and collard mix - very spicy for those not ready for it (someone in our party wasn't - so it wasn't good to them). I believed it to be good, next time I would want them alone and not mixed. The roll I can go without - mine was dry and without good flavor. I actually would have liked to have something a little more sweeter like an Hawaiian roll to balance out the spice from the cabbage. Three piece fried chicken plate - it comes with two sides and bread. We opted for mac and cheese and green beans. The green beans tasted as if they were picked from the field, very fresh! Chicken wing plate - it comes with two sides and bread. We opted for mac and cheese and cabbage/collard mix. The chicken was fried to perfection! Not greasy or old tasting like some restaurants will serve you. The seasoning was subtle - which was a nice touch. You get a good amount of food for the pricing. Especially the Ox Tail plate! We will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu!

They have packages of napkins and utensils, available near the door, and also complementary water on the inside while you're in line there. All the orders are to go, but they do have a couple picnic tables just outside. I ordered two sandwiches, one hot and one cold. The cold one for tomorrow. Both of them had an asterisk beside them saying they were spicy, imagine that. I got a full size chopped cheese which comes in a hoagie roll. It was delicious and nicely spicy. Perfect for lunch and dinner. The cold sandwich I got was the roast turkey. It was very tasty too, I'm almost tempted to say I liked it better. Now that I've tasted their sandwiches I know why there was a line.

This place is REALLY hard to find... it's behind the State Farm building, but there's barely any signage from the street. (Note: some photos here in Yelp seem to be from an older location.) We actually came one Saturday, but it was unexpectedly closed, but we caught them the following one, so good to call and confirm before driving over. You walk up to a door on the back, and scan a QR code to see the menu. Then knock on/ open the door and someone will come to take your order. Then you wait outside and they bring you your sandwiches. The lady who took our order was very friendly. The kitchen was rather large, so I suspect it's used for more than just this business. We ordered two turkey subs-- the East New York (which was slightly spicy) and the Dumbo. Wait time was maybe 7-10 minutes or so. Both sandwiches came nicely wrapped, and I think total cost was a little over $20. And conveniently, they take Apple Pay. These were not your Subway or Quiznos sandwiches-- these were DELICIOUS pressed sandwiches (we got them on focaccia. I personally liked the Dumbo the best-- it had a nice mix of flavors that meshed well. The East New York was solid and had a nice spiciness, but not quite as exciting overall. Would I come back? Probably, but since there's no seating, and it's a bit awkward, maybe not the first place I'd think to try, but again, the sandwiches were REALLY good. I do think it may be excellent for catering or for getting picnic sandwiches though.

The vibrant colors and decor gave off excellent vibes. I ordered the Karaage Bowl (on greens instead of rice AND all the sauces on the side) and a side order of seaweed salad. A server brought them to our table. It was not necessary for us to get up once we were seated. Everything was SO GOOD. Like, "I'm mad at myself for not coming here before" good. All of the sauces were amazing too. I ordered them on the side since I wasn't sure how I would like them all, but I think I'll leave them on next time. The "greens" were a mix of lettuce and cabbage. The side of seaweed salad for $2.50 seemed a little small when they brought it out but it was packed in there and was plenty. However, because it was lunch time, there was a line, sadly one I had to wait it. Thankfully, I only waited about five minutes & was able to pay & be on my way. The restaurant is cheery & employees seemed happy to be there. The place was hopping, so that was a good sign this place serves up tasty goodness. I returned to work & ate my sandwich & potato salad. The potato salad had red potatoes in it, with the skin still on - not what I'm used to, but still ok. It tasted mustard & mayo based, which I love those two together. The bahn mi was quite delicious with a simple slaw, pork, cucumbers, & Asian dressing. The pork was tender & spicy. The baguette was decent. For the portion size, the price of $8.61 was fine with me. I stumbled across this hole in the wall thru Yelp of all places. A highly reviewed sandwich shop…read morewith really interesting sounding sandwiches that also offers a free cookie with your meal on Fridays?! I knew had to check them out (on a Friday of course). They had several sandwiches that sounded good but I narrowed it down to two: their fiesta turkey with pepper jack cheese and lime basil mayo and their fried brie with bacon, basil pesto and fig jam. I eventually settled on the fiesta turkey so you can imagine my disappointment when I got home and discovered they gave me the wrong sandwich. It was a rookie mistake not to check before leaving but still. I immediately called them and explained what happened and the woman I spoke to apologized profusely (especially after realizing this was my first time visiting). Since it was Friday and they had just closed (they close at 2pm), and weren't open on the weekends, she told me to come in on Monday and I'd get the right sandwich on the house. That was all well and good but I was hungry now and I had a sandwich, albeit the wrong one, staring me in my face. Not wanting it to go waste, I gave it a try. As luck would have it, after a couple bites I quickly realized it was the fried brie sandwich (the other one I wanted to try) and it was delicious! Very happy accident. The following week I went back and got the fiesta turkey. I enjoyed it, but the fried brie was the clear winner out of the two. The sandwiches are generously sized so you could definitely split it into two meals. All their sandwiches come with a side and I tried their pasta and potato salads. Admittedly I'm not a big pasta or potato salad person so it's hard for me to judge, but if you are I think you'd like them. Based on the way they handled the mix up, the quality of their sandwiches, and Free Cookie Friday, I'd definitely recommend this place. Pro tip: Get any sandwich on their signature focaccia. When it comes to sandwiches, the bread makes all the difference and their focaccia is really good.

I ordered up the Jersey Turnpike, sausage with red pepper sauce which took about 5+ minutes. Along with a bag o' chips and drink, we're talking about $8.50 which isn't bad. The Baguettaboutit sandwich is a pretty thing. Flour-dusted baguette with a thick sausage end peeping out (Flopsy!). And it's a tasty lunch, high-quality meat and crusty French bread. The red pepper sauce was creamy and decently flavored. By the time you work your way to the end of the sandwich, we're talking 3 - 4 inches of crusty bread and sauce left over, but still yum. Don't think there were any napkins available at the truck which would help a bit. For a first visit I was definitely impressed, I'll have to work my way through the rest of their baguette specials, six in total. Baguettaboutit puts out a solid sandwich that's perfectly portable and better than what you'd get from a Subway or Quizno, 3.5 stars. So I'm really looking forward to my next visit, if I can just only shake that image of my dog out of my head. One thing for sure, I'm not ordering ANY Baguettaboutit sandwiches with alfredo sauce, guaranteed...
