First class service! I stopped in on my lunch today and was greeted by the sweetest person....Alexis. She was so patient with me..I never know what I want to eat. I ended up getting the 2 piece chicken entree with macaroni and cheese and cabbage. The chicken was seasoned so well and fried to perfection. The mac and cheese was oh so good. The cabbage was a little spicy for my taste but it was so still delicious because even though it had a little kick I still kept eating it. The restaurant was really clean and the music was a nice touch. I enjoyed my dining experience and will definitely return. Convenient location with plenty of parking. Staff were nice and pleasant. The wait is horrible! We waited over 45 minutes for our order. The food was just okay. I got a shrimp burger. There was a decent amount of shrimp but the bread was soggy, the lettuce was brown, and I got one pickle no sauce. I was offered the sauce but didn't get it. The fries were soggy and cold. The fish plate was pretty decent as well as the potato salad. We did get a lemonade for our extra wait. This was an extremely satisfying meal that hit the spot. I happened to come here on a Monday, which is also the day they have a turkey wing special. The turkey wings were huge, fell right off the bone, so good, and came with 3 sides. I also got the dinner portion. The mac and cheese was delicious and the cornbread was moist and had that perfect honey butter flavor. The sweet chili cabbage was also great. My mom treated me to dinner on Tuesday, 04-29-24. She'd highly recommended V's. I'd planned to get the veggie plate but she recommended either the ribs or the oxtail. I went with the ribs; they came with two sides. I chose the mac and cheese and the sweet potatoes. The entrée also came with cornbread. We also had a side of the cabbage/collard green mix. It was very good. The staff was pleasant. They had a good selection of music playing during our short wait. I forgot to take pictures of my food. We were on the hunt for some good southern food in Durham and this was recommended to us. Located in a small parking lot with other small eateries, it's pretty easy to find. The location is has proper COVID19 protocol in place. You can't eat in, but you can await for your food - they still limit how many people can be inside and within 6 feet apart. We ordered: Ox Tail plate - it comes with rice, two sides, and bread. We opted for mac and cheese and cabbage/collard mix. The meat was soooo tender and flavorful! Like it was literally falling off the bone. Very meaty pieces and not bone/fatty pieces. The gravy was thick and flavorful as well - it made them taste like a hearty pot roast! Next time, I will ask if I can have it over mashed potatoes instead of rice. The mac and cheese was good not bad at all just not something I would be overly excited about. The cabbage and collard mix - very spicy for those not ready for it (someone in our party wasn't - so it wasn't good to them). I believed it to be good, next time I would want them alone and not mixed. The roll I can go without - mine was dry and without good flavor. I actually would have liked to have something a little more sweeter like an Hawaiian roll to balance out the spice from the cabbage. Wow wow wow. First time here. I got the fried chicken plate with corn bread, collards/cabbage mix and green beans. First off, let me just say that I need an ENTIRE PAN of that cornbread - best I have ever had!!!! The chicken was moist and tender with delicious crispy outer. I'd really been wanting to try this place especially because it's soul food and it's black owned. I started with what I thought would be a simple plate. I'm picky about potato salad so I asked if it was homemade. The woman taking my order paused, gave me a perplexed look and nervously said that everything was from scratch. That was my signal to place an order, so I requested the Mac and cheese, the collard/cabbage mix and potato salad. I was sure that nothing needed to be prepped so I thought my wait would be minimal but it actually took about 20 minutes and when my food came out, the person taking my order said "It's not on me". I wasn't sure what that meant but there was a double portion of Mac and cheese and my potato salad was missing so I went back in and waited for my potato salad to come out. Once I got home, the potato salad is the first thing that I tasted and immediately I knew that it wasn't homemade. I can understand that a business may use a pre-made potato salad because it's time consuming from scratch but I would rather have known that instead. I just would have ordered another side instead. The portion of the cabbage and collard mix was very small and both that and the Mac and cheese were heavily salted to the point where I couldn't even finish eating it. The only saving grace was the cornbread which was super moist. I would like to give this place another try but this is a rough first start.
