    Pork chop
    Amy S.

Good Southern food! I'm talking real Southern food. I had the fish with hush puppies, cole slaw, and green beans. The fish was huge and perfectly fried. My husband had the fried pork chops, breaded perfectly and the seasoning was great. The restaurant is casual, sparse, with plastic utensils, styrofoam plates. If you're looking for "atmosphere ", this is not the place for you. But if your looking for excellent Southern food, local, country feel; then don't miss this place!

I stopped by this place while visiting my Godmother for the weekend. The menu was really small, but the food was amazing! I knew it was going to be delicious from all the cars that were parked outside the restaurant and the steady crowd coming in. I ordered in the drive thru and it was a pretty fast and easy transaction. I got the bbq chicken, mac n cheese, greenbeans, and the cucumber salad. The bbq chicken is not "sauced" it has the vinegar bbq "sauce" on it. I thought it would have the traditional bbq "sauce" on it. Took me by surprise. Nonetheless, it was delicious and that chicken pulled right off the bone, was moist, and melted in my mouth. I really didn't have to chew the chicken! Mac n cheese was good. Cucumber salad was too chunky for me and I don't like when they cut the green (skin) away from the cucumber. Had the cucumber been sliced more thinly, I think it would have enjoyed it better. I did eat all the vinegary onions out of it! Only thing that I did not enjoy were the hushpuppies. They had a nice crunch on the outside, but it was too dense and dry on the inside for me.

Their Hush Puppies are dry as the Sierra Desert no taste

I went here yesterday my first time and it will definitely be my last I just cannot figure out why people are here today or any day if this is not their first time. The food on the hot trays do not look good at all not much food to choose from and they can't even make it look appealing.I got the chicken and Dumplings which are extremely bland to the core with shreds of unrecognizable chicken that you can barely see the whole thing has zero taste which is absolutely ridiculous The hush puppies are the worst that I have ever had in my entire life they are extra dry amd tasteless I put them in the trash. The yams look a mess and taste even worst not a bit of love was put into making them they look exactly how they taste On my first bite the fried chicken tasted decent but after eating deeper it just got worst bland to the bone Publix chicken is way better all the way down to the bone.I did not get the greens they look like chopped up baby food they cut corners on those greens which is a darn shame My whole experience was absolutely awful just bad Soul Food Point Blank Period don't say you was not warned.Stop giving your money to places like this that don't put care into what they sell I know darn well the cooks don't serve this mess at home to their families if they do the owner need to shut down and improve and care more about their patrons wish I could give Zero Stars

Best Hidden Southern Gem! What a best kept Southern secret this place was! Worth the 5 mile drive off 85-South, this little restaurant has plenty of happy faces behind the simple buffet, for quick comfort food. Different daily specials, but today there was fried chicken and fried fish. Our chicken was great, fried nicely and not greasy. Many sides. My broccoli was steamed, buttery and delicious, and deviled eggs were also a side. Husband said his mashed potatoes and lima beans were very good. Our hush puppies had a slight cakey sweetness, not burned or greasy. Coke products. Our tummies are happy and we did not break the bank! Posting pics of the buffet.

Will & Well is a great addition to Boxyard if you're looking for a fresh salad, grain bowl, or…read moresmoothie option. The setup is counter service, with a handful of premade salads and bowls on the menu, or you can build your own. The build-your-own option starts at $12.99 and includes your base, five toppings, one crunchy/dry topping, and dressing. Proteins are extra and range from about $4.25-$6.50, with options including tofu, shrimp, chicken, steak, and tuna. I opted for a build-your-own bowl with chicken, which came out to just under $20 before tip. At first, that felt a little pricey to me, but the portion size was absolutely massive. Honestly, it was large enough to easily make two meals, which made the value feel much better. The woman helping me was incredibly friendly and even let me sample three different dressings before deciding. I also appreciated that you can get your dressing on the side if you prefer. All 3 I tried were good, but all very different, and I'm glad I had a chance to try them! One thing to note is that it was fairly warm inside the business, which gave me a little pause considering it's a salad-focused concept. That said, everything tasted fresh and high quality. There were only two employees working during my visit on a Wednesday around 6:30, and with about 4-5 people ahead of me, it took around 20 minutes to place my order, get my bowl made, and check out. The staff was working hard, and being incredibly helpful, but if you're in a hurry, just plan accordingly. Overall, I'd definitely return. It's nice to have a quality salad option at Boxyard, the ingredients were fresh, the portions were generous, and the service was helpful and kind. Just be prepared that there may be a bit of a wait and to spend around $20 if you're adding protein (but you can easily share or make two meals from it!!!) My picture doesn't do the size justice I promise!

And just like the true southerner I am, I chose the potato salad as my side. I work close by, so I called ahead & was told 20 minutes. When I arrived in 10 minutes, my order was waiting on me. However, because it was lunch time, there was a line, sadly one I had to wait it. Thankfully, I only waited about five minutes & was able to pay & be on my way. The restaurant is cheery & employees seemed happy to be there. The place was hopping, so that was a good sign this place serves up tasty goodness. I returned to work & ate my sandwich & potato salad. The potato salad had red potatoes in it, with the skin still on - not what I'm used to, but still ok. It tasted mustard & mayo based, which I love those two together. The bahn mi was quite delicious with a simple slaw, pork, cucumbers, & Asian dressing. The pork was tender & spicy. The baguette was decent. For the portion size, the price of $8.61 was fine with me. With such variety on the menu, I'll definitely be back. Parking wasn't much of an issue, even though there are many businesses/restaurants in this area.

I stumbled across this hole in the wall thru Yelp of all places. A highly reviewed sandwich shop…read morewith really interesting sounding sandwiches that also offers a free cookie with your meal on Fridays?! I knew had to check them out (on a Friday of course). They had several sandwiches that sounded good but I narrowed it down to two: their fiesta turkey with pepper jack cheese and lime basil mayo and their fried brie with bacon, basil pesto and fig jam. I eventually settled on the fiesta turkey so you can imagine my disappointment when I got home and discovered they gave me the wrong sandwich. It was a rookie mistake not to check before leaving but still. I immediately called them and explained what happened and the woman I spoke to apologized profusely (especially after realizing this was my first time visiting). Since it was Friday and they had just closed (they close at 2pm), and weren't open on the weekends, she told me to come in on Monday and I'd get the right sandwich on the house. That was all well and good but I was hungry now and I had a sandwich, albeit the wrong one, staring me in my face. Not wanting it to go waste, I gave it a try. As luck would have it, after a couple bites I quickly realized it was the fried brie sandwich (the other one I wanted to try) and it was delicious! Very happy accident. The following week I went back and got the fiesta turkey. I enjoyed it, but the fried brie was the clear winner out of the two. The sandwiches are generously sized so you could definitely split it into two meals. All their sandwiches come with a side and I tried their pasta and potato salads. Admittedly I'm not a big pasta or potato salad person so it's hard for me to judge, but if you are I think you'd like them. Based on the way they handled the mix up, the quality of their sandwiches, and Free Cookie Friday, I'd definitely recommend this place. Pro tip: Get any sandwich on their signature focaccia. When it comes to sandwiches, the bread makes all the difference and their focaccia is really good.

I almost didn't go, because I thought this was the downtown Durham restaurant, which is nice, but parking nightmare. Glad I went, though. The food was solid. I had the fired chicken sandwhich and fries the first day, a buffalo chicken wrap the second day, and the smoked chicken wings the third day, yes, 3 in a row. That has to say something, especially for me. All lunch items were pretty spot on, although I like a little more vinegar in my slaw than most. That was remedied by the texas pete on the bar. The service staff were all hands on. If the bartender was not there, the manager or a back of the house person was always checking on me. Very nice staff. As far as the ambiance itself, nice setup. Good sized bar, nice big patio, clean indoor and restrooms... all in all, I could not ding them for anything. I need to go to check out the weekend brunch or dinner menu. I am sure that I will not be disappointed, however, I have been told to get to brunch before noon, as it gets very busy, also a good thing. Cheers. :)

Even better surprise: the patio was wide open and dog-friendly. Immediate bonus points. Service was great. She was friendly, attentive, and helpful with recommendations without being overbearing. My date ordered the Blackstone Benedict -a sort of ham, poached eggs, and hollandaise, with breakfast potatoes and gluten-free bread. She was genuinely thrilled with it, which is saying something as she is a hollondaise stickler. By the time we were leaving, a line had started to build, so if you're planning a weekend brunch here, I'd recommend getting there on the earlier side. Parking is easy (big lot), and there's a grocery store right next door, which is surprisingly convenient. Overall, just a really easy, enjoyable brunch spot with good food, great service, and a relaxed vibe. We'll be back.

This place is freakin' delicious. So, we had a great meal from the food truck once. And Gussy's catered a wine pairing dinner at Peak of the Vine in Apex which was spectacular. We decided then we had to visit the brick and mortar location, but one thing after another delayed us until today. We went with our (adult) kids and everyone loved every bite. I had a new pork gyro and their amazing lemon rice (do not sleep on the lemon rice, it is a stealth amazing side), my wife had the fried shrimp platter and the shrimp was great. Somehow more shrimpy than most fried shrimp. I don't know what that means, but there you go. My daughter got the chicken gyro with fries and declared the fries her new favorite fries. The veggies were so crisp and fresh in the gyro that even though she finished all the chicken, she brought the last few bites of pita and veggies home because she didn't want to waste them. My son is a limited-taste eater, but was relieved to see some Italian classics on the menu. He went with his favorite sandwich, a chicken parmesan hero. He didn't have super high hopes for an amazing experience, because outside of a pizzeria chicken parm is usually just good, never great. But he was shocked, "This is better than most pizzerias. I'd have to get one here and one at Mezza Luna and have them side by side to judge them, it's that good." So yeah, Gussy's. Don't wait around like we did. If you find yourself close to RTP, plan lunch at Gusssy's. Or make the trip special during the week. You won't regret it.

For me, it's traditionally been a business lunch or dinner destination, but this visit was a personal lunch during the workday. We've now been here several times over the years, and unfortunately the experience has been remarkably consistent. For lunch we ordered: * Blackberry Salmon * Shrimp & Grits * Unsweetened Iced Tea * Saratoga Still Water Our bill came to $70.38 before tax and tip and also included a 3.5% Kitchen Appreciation Fee. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Both the building and the dining room create an inviting atmosphere that makes you expect a memorable meal. The ingredients were clearly high quality, and that's what made the meal somewhat frustrating. The execution simply didn't bring those ingredients to life. The Shrimp & Grits came with only five shrimp. They were perfectly cooked, but the portion felt small for the price. The grits were prepared correctly but lacked much flavor or personality. The Blackberry Salmon had similar issues. The salmon itself was cooked well but wasn't seasoned to let its flavor shine. The rice was bland, and while the blackberries were an interesting idea, they didn't really complement the salmon for us. Again the portion was adequate but not generous. Service was pleasant. We were seated immediately despite arriving at noon on a weekday, and our order was taken promptly. As on previous visits, though, there was a noticeable wait before the food arrived. Parking has always been somewhat limited, although the restaurant now offers complimentary valet parking, which is a nice improvement. One final surprise came when reviewing the receipt afterward: the 3.5% Kitchen Appreciation Fee. We hadn't noticed it during the meal, we were not told about it and then tipped in addition to it. Whether or not restaurants choose to add this type of fee is their decision, but we'd appreciate it being communicated more clearly before the bill arrives so that we are not tipping the 3.5% fee itself. Ultimately, we wanted to like Glasshouse Kitchen more than we did. The setting is beautiful, the ingredients are good, and the staff is pleasant. But after several visits, we continue to come away feeling that the food needs more thoughtful seasoning, the portions don't quite justify the price, and the overall value doesn't match the cost. We hope they'll refine the menu because the restaurant has the foundation to be much better than the meals we've experienced.
