Voyagers was by far the low point of our visit. The quality of the food was not in keeping with a restaurant that touts itself as a fine dining experience. My wife had the whole fish which was flounder. The flounder was good but the sides were way below par. First off, the fried okra was old and tough and who serves Lima beans, except for cafes with a "meat and two sides"? The worst part of our experience was the noise. You would have thought that we were eating at one of the local tourist trap seafood restaurants! There was a table of at least 16 people seated on the mezzanine right above us and they were LOUD!!! They kept up a constant chatter the entire time we were there, and it seemed like all of the women were trying to talk over each other. I firmly believe that restaurants that cater to large groups should have a private room to separate the big noisy groups from other diners who want to enjoy a quiet meal. We have been coming to Orange Beach and dining at Voyagers since the hotel was a Hilton, which was a long time ago. We have enjoyed some really delightful experiences at Voyagers, but I believe this will be our last visit to Voyagers. There are quite a few nice restaurants in the area, so next time we will try somewhere else for our "last night at the beach" meal. read more

Voyager's is one of my family's favorite restaurants. We stopped in for my Grandmother's Birthday dinner. My mom, sister and I had The Gulf Tuna Wellington. It was delicious. My wife and I wanted to have a nice dinner out. A friend of ours had suggested Cobalt, but when we got there, it was over a two hour wait! A quick search of Yelp brought us to Voyagers, we made a reservation and headed on over. It's inside the Perdido Beach Resort. Once you got there, it was easy to find the restaurant. The first thing we noticed is how quiet this place was. We arrived later in the evening, so it was past the prime meal time. We easily got a table with a spectacular view of the Gulf. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Drinks never went empty, plates were always cleared as soon as you were finished, crumbs on the table brushed away between courses. I felt like we were in a five-star restaurant, so I gave it five-stars here on Yelp. The food was excellent. We started with the scallops as an appetizer. They were very tasty and perfectly cooked. For our entrees, my wife got the ribeye with soft butter on it that melted as it was served. She loves steak and orders it frequently and she said that it was cooked to perfection. I got the fish special, which was a fresh caught grouper. It was an excellent choice, I enjoyed every bite and was sad when my plate was finally clean. The portions were big enough that we didn't even have room for dessert. This place seems to be a hidden gem on the Gulf. If you haven't tried it, you need to. My boyfriend and I dined here for my birthday since we heard such good things about it. The bread was so hard, I couldn't even break it apart, the fried green tomatoes with crab meat was very bland, and the old fashion was horrible. My husband and I had a great experience! Viktor took awesome care of us -- knowledgeable about the menu, attentive without being disruptive and timing was perfect through the courses. We started with a couple of Ketel martinis at the lobby bar with Annette - she was really sweet and the martinis were cold and perfectly made, just the right amount of vermouth and slightly dirty. First course we each ordered another martini with blue cheese olives and shared the cold platter - gulf shrimp, oysters, crab and 1/2 lobster - all nice n cold + very fresh. Next, we split a wedge salad - great dressing with creamy and bold blue cheese and sun dried tomatoes for acidity, pork belly lardons - yum! Main courses: I had the whole fish with a side of pink eyed peas and he had the venison with beet and blueberry sauce and a side of Bayside blue Mac. These entrees were fantastic! The fry on the whole flounder (sustainable by the way too ) was perfect - crispy yet moist and tender - a spice blend with lemon, turmeric and S&P. The venison - med rare, tender and not gamey plus the sauce was so good: slightly sweet with a richness to it - paired perfectly with the meat. I had a glass of extra dry sparkling wine with my fish and he had a Corona. For dessert we ordered the layered chocolate cake to go - and finished the meal with an espresso. This was the best meal we've had in Orange Beach without a doubt. The atmosphere was fun, fancy without being bougie. I definitely recommend Voyagers and we will be back. What a find! We passed on Cobalt in Perdido Beach and found Voyagers and we sure are glad we did. Robin was a perfect maitre'd and Fernando was a superb waiter. Came here May 2021 after a track & field nationals competition, food & service were absolutely excellent. We arrived shortly after 8pm and were seated quickly (party of 5). Our server was professional & entertaining, very knowledgeable of the menu, even accommodating dairy & gluten allergies proactively. The evening started with some crisp buttery bread spears accompanied by a red pepper goat cheese dip (unpictured) & we ordered a starter of Moroccan Spiced Calamari (unpictured). The calamari was not rubbery & the fry was delicate. Dipped in smoked chili harissa it was a perfect beginning. I got a Beet & Butter Salad with a half Lobster Tail & a side of Pink Eye Peas, Caramelized Onions & Blistered Tomatoes - the flavors were spot on and very bright and intense, especially with the lobster tail. I've never had anything like it. I also finished most of a friend's a side of Purple Sweet Potato Gnocchi - They were delicate & very pillow-like, with a subtle sweet flavor balanced out by a peppery garlic ending & parmesan. This & the lobster tail were my favorite foods of the evening. I've attached the meals of other group members but cannot speak for them. However, there were many exclamations of deliciousness :) Our desserts were rich & well balanced. Having tried all three, I recommend all three. read more

Ok, update to first review. I gave it a second shot and had better service and better food this time. This time I ordered lionfish tiradito as an appetizer. The server recommended and it was beautiful. Simple and sublime. Like ceviche. Great grapefruit flavor with a little cilantro and Serrano. Just enough heat. Their bread spread - a romesco is amazing. For entree, I got paella. A little less traditional as not served in the paella pan. Calamari was great and paella rice was good - very Rich saffron flavor - a little too rich so couldn't finish the fish. Two people could share this. Henry was a great server. Beautiful restaurant. Wonderful service. Great view a piano player/singer for a nice atmosphere. But the food I had was just ok. I ordered the bone-in filet with two sauces - Cabernet bordelaise and bone marrow butter. And asparagus and sea salt baked potato as sides. I ordered the filet medium. But it was very rare - like black and blue. When I first cut into it I knew it looked more rare than I wanted but figured I could deal with it. It tasted good. But the more I cut into it, I realized they just slapped that cow's ass and put it my plate. Plus the cut was sinewy and full of tendon and vein so hard to even cut. I only ate a few bites. The sauces and sides were good. I ordered the chocolate panda cotta dessert. It said it was served on a dark chocolate cake. It was ok but the cake was inedible. The food was amazing overall and our server was nice and attentive. The issue began when we received our check. There were hidden charges that were not advertised on the menu or explained by the server, ie an extra "$3 charge for on the rocks drinks." We brought this to the attention of our server and she recommended that the manager could better explain. The manager came with a very uncomfortable and pretentious attitude, changing the experience of our entire dinner. She insisted that "every restaurant SHE has worked at has up-charged for 'on the rocks'." Her condescending attitude towards our party negatively impacted our evening, regardless of her resume and how qualified she was to insure our dining experience and the prices involved. The price of the drinks is not a problem, and for a $450+ dinner, we certainly do not mind paying for what is the appropriate price. Our issue is that we felt like the additional up-charge was a method of "gauging" additional costs onto the order, as well as the manager talking down to us. High dollar low dollar atmosphere! Loud group across from us with a bunch of 18 to 20 year old girls screaming, loud videos, and yelling f this and f that. They sat my husband and myself a two top across from this group of at least 15. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary but I guess a girls birthday was way more important. I mean our meal with wine was only 400.00. They acted like they were in a sports bar. The Mod ( manager on duty) just said, sorry. That's it, and oh, hope you will try us again while he was yawning. High quality staff. We have traveled all over the world and the treatment that we received at this restaurant was beyond horrible. Don't spend your Mooney here. My wife and I were visiting Orange Beach for our honeymoon and decided to go to Voyagers for our last night. The food was pretty good, the mixed drinks were horrid, and the service was subpar. The old fashion was terrible, it was filled with a handful of cherries, a full orange, and loads of sugar. For appetizers we had the ostrich carpaccio (interesting and worth a try), scallop tiradito (Heavy on the lemon and was fish instead), and the Frenchie Oysters (Definitely would recommend). We ordered some wine from their decent list once our server was able to pencil us in. For our entrees we both got steak. I got Kansas City Strip with mac and cheese. She got the fillet and lobster. The steaks were awesome and the sides were tasty too. They had plenty of time to rest as well since we had to hunt someone down after 5-10 minutes to get us steak knives because we only saw our sever 3 times the whole night. read more

This restaurant is supposed to be so popular that you have to reserve a table, at least three days in advance... Therefore, I wasn't able to take my husband on his actual birthday... Anyway, we decided to dine at this restaurant vs any other place in the surrounding area, to celebrate the occasion... They asked for special comments when making a reservation, and I noted we were celebrating my husband's birthday... We chose the FRIED GREEN TOMATO CRAB STACK (fried green tomatoes, crab salad, spicy diablo sauce) as an appetizer... It was $14 and only had three tomatoes... But, each tomato was layered with crab, so no complaints there... We also got the VOYAGERS WEDGE (roasted tomatoes, crispy shallots, bill "e" bacon, chives, bayside blue, green goddess dressing) ... It was $12, a bit pricey, but really good w that dressing... Oh, I might add they greet you with complimentary bread that comes with a tomato chutney and rich butter accompaniment... That was an added bonus...My daughter loves calamari and doesn't eat big portions, so she chose Moroccan Spiced Calamari (Preserved lemons and smoked chili harissa) for $12... It was tasty, but more than she could eat... My husband and I chose house specialties, my mistake... I should've gone for the steak... I got the Gulf Grouper (pan roasted gulf grouper, calabrian chile brocolini, cippolini onions, romanesco brown butter poached lobster for $38.00... Well, I was so disgusted at my dried-up grouper and hard vegetables that I missed seeing may "lobster" on my plate... I really think they forgot to add it... The waiter offered to get me another grouper, but I was thinking, I just want to get back to the condo and get something out of my own fridge to eat... So, I declined the offer... My husband got Chicken Fried Shrimp w/ Aleppo chili bayou cora grits sweet & sour collard greens red-eye hollandaise for $35... He said he liked it, but he only got 4 large shrimp (and the head & tail was the gist of the size)... Plus, it was too spicy for me... We did get another surprise when our check was delivered with chocolate covered cherries (my favorite treat)... The atmosphere was lovely with candlelight and white table cloths, but the food was not par of the ambiance... I kept waiting for them to acknowledge my husband's birthday, but they never did... I am hesitant to ever return to this place bc the manager passed off my disappointment as "I'm sorry, I am busy running 5 restaurants myself right now".... I'm pretty sure my $150 will get much more quantity and quality food elsewhere... It's just sad I had a bad experience bc we frequent many restaurants in the area, and we rarely have a bad meal... So I really wanted to LOVE the experience and food, but didn't. It was fine, just not great. I made reservation probably a month in advance to be sure we were able to get in on the night we wanted. Our server (can't recall her name but a lovely Brazilian lady) was super personable and took great care of us! Oysters (Frenchie and garlic) were tasty but just small. Our table had a mix of steak, fish, chicken and pork. Steak (porterhouse) was nicely prepared inside (temp Medium) but could have used more searing and salt/pepper for enhanced flavor as a great steak doesn't need to rely on all those extra toppings. The stuffed chicken was good but I wasn't a fan of the chutney. Cocktails weren't great either. I mentioned in my reservation (made a month in advance) that we were celebrating a birthday yet there was zero mention. I also feel that front of the house managers at finer dining establishments should walk around and check on tables/THANK folks for dining - if this was being done, we certainly didn't see it or receive it. Didn't receive it as we exited either (and the woman up front at hostess stand looked as though she was maybe 'in charge'). A little goes a long way... To sum it up, good but not great in our opinions. Maybe our expectations are too high coming from Houston food scene... Wouldn't necessarily return. read more

He did not ask us if wanted another drink. He put the dessert menu on the table at the end of our meal as he walked by to attend to someone else. He came back later and asked what we wanted. I asked for the check. The manager stopped to speak to the table next to us but ignored our table. Not sure that l will come back here as we are visiting from out of state. I'm pleased with the restaurant because they still accommodated us even with the little kids and no reservation. The service was good and the waiter was attentive. Charcuterie board was delicious! We cleaned up that board! I ordered the cowboy ribeye topped with foie gras with blue mac and champagne béarnaise sauce. The steak was medium well and tender, juicy, and flavorful. The blue mac was good but I'd like more sauce. For desserts we had the famous 9 layer chocolate and mango pudding. My husband and I likes the bread pudding more, it was so good and the mango was a game changer. A very summery and refreshing dessert. The 9 layer chocolate was good but a little rich for me. When we arrived, they told us that they were booked. As we were leaving, the manager tracked us down and told us that they had a table and it would be a 10 minute wait. She was so sweet and our waitress was very informative and nice. For appetizers we had the oysters with garlic. It was incredible the flavors just burst in your mouth. I got the Khan Khan pork chops and when the waitress put it on my plate, my eyes went huge. It was an enormous amount of pork and probably the most juiciest and flavorful pork I have ever had in my entire life. We did have to wait an hour and a half before I food came, but it was worth it.
