Made a quick stop here with my sister the other day and i must say they are far more clean and organized then the other Von's i have been to in Pasadena. I am not a fan of Von's their prices are higher then Ralph's and most other markets and i never find good deals or fresh organic selections like the other markets. Worst customer service at a grocery store I have ever experienced. After being in line for 15 minutes a cashier pulled me out to open a new register. Then said "oops, nevermind I can't open" so I have to go back in line and this happens a second time. A manager was cashiering and closed her register. When I told her, she wanted to know who pulled me rather than saying that shouldn't happen and she could take me right away. I will never go to this vons again. read more

I have been shopping here for probably 8 years. The staff is always so helpful and nice to my wife and I. But today they went above and beyond. I ordered a meat and cheese try for a party, it was ready on time and looked great. The only issue was that I did not pay attention when I ordered it and it was not the one my wife wanted. They let me exchange for the correct one after they spent all that time on the order. I felt terrible but reassured me that it was fine. This is always be the Von's I shop at. Wow! I'm not the first to review a market! Cool! The folks here are pretty nice. Those that work the bakery are very helpful but be careful cause in the morning they are kind of hard to nab cause they are in the back getting the goods out. The danish here are delish! The best thing about them is that they do NOT drown the bread with icing! You get to enjoy the whole thing; from bread to filling to icing. They even have a box that they make sometimes that is a of a mixed batch for $5.50. That works out to about 50 cents a danish which is better than the regular price of a dollar each. The only baked good I don't like here is the bagels. I know this may sound weird to some but their jelly donuts are actually very cool since they are half the size and half the price of a donut shop. This way you get your "sweet fix" but you don't have to commit to a big donut. The sandwiches in here are so good! I read the reviews in the latest newsletter for picnic fare but as most are too far away for me this is my go-to. They have a new one that is an Italian sandwich made with all the classic meats (proscuttio, salami, etc) but the kicker is the mozzarella! It's cut from one of those balls you would buy in a gourmet shop! I got one of these yesterday and ate the whole thing! Btw, they now have a large "footlong" version so if you want to share with someone it's that much easier. Cost more than Subway but it's better so that evens out things. Plus, since it is a market, you can get everything else you would need for picnic - fruit, chip, water, napkins, etc. If you want to go generic sandwich-wise they do have a monster one for $7.50 made with a loaf of french bread and done in classic "sub" style - roast beef, turkey, ham, American cheese. I've gotten as many as five "small" sandwiches out of one of those. Now, while I like this market should remind folks that this is the one in Glendora on Foothill & Grand. All markets are subjective to WHO is behind the knife so every sandwich maker is different! At the same time you got to ask, how can they mess up a sandwich? Right? I know. read more

I am still in shock, & feel very much disrespected. I came in to pay a bill, & as soon as I asked for assistance I got all rude eyes on me Like I said something horrible. I stood there waiting with no one coming, I decided to go grab a few items 1st. Without too much detail let's say 5? (front end) & Manager only 1 girl was nice. Also did not seem to have helpful info & had to keep asking each employee before getting help. As I stood there waiting I felt like as if I was the plague & dumb. I felt awkward being there, but needed this done. To no avail I had to go somewhere else. With not 1 issue i was out in 5 min. So was it incompetence, lack of wanting to help, or like some other reviews something worse...? I honestly dont think i ever experienced something like that before. It's our "go to" store in the neighborhood, even though there's a Ralph's, Albertsons and Stater Brothers nearby. Being a member of Vons Club helps save $$. Plus the savings on gasoline you earn is awesome. Often up to $1/gallon off!! read more

This is the worst vons !! I hate that this is my neighborhood go to grocery store!!!! They never have any items that I need... I've spoken with a few store managers to stock more of the items I need and yet still nothing!!! I'm almost to the point where I will never again set foot in this store, even though it is only a few blocks from my house. I absolutely cannot stand the lines. I (foolishly) went in there tonight at 8:30 for a few essentials - milk, sour cream, cheese, etc. I got my cart half full before I saw the lines. Two checkstands open for around 30 customers - all of them looking miserable. I left my half-filled cart at the spot and walked out the door, to go to Stator Brothers. Yes, it's another mile away - but they NEVER have lines like this, and their prices are much lower. I've seen them, when lines get maybe three-deep, immediately open TWO new checkstands. I've sure never seen such a thing at this particular Vons. This place is HORRIBLY mismanaged. I know that they're still in business because for a lot of Glendorans it is the most convenient location - but I am personally done with it. read more

As far as service is concerned, this has got to be one of the worst! I try to avoid it at all costs. Every single time it seems like the employees either hate working with certain fellow employees or hate helping customers. So much negativity goes around, its crazy! and the prices at Vons don't even make it any more tolerable. There was only one time i stepped in there and the employees were smiling and asking if you needed help; but, soon found out it was because the district manager was in store and so they were putting their best foot forward. Only found this out after overhearing 2 employees complaining on when their DM was going to leave so they could go back to "doing things their way", which undoubtedly meant back to their rudeness and griping. As mentioned before the prices are too high! you can go down to Ralphs on Grand for prices much lower. This particular Vons is not a place to visit. If I must go into a Vons I travel to the one in La Verne on Foothill Blvd. I get such amazing service there, the employees have such pleasant dispositions, it seems cleaner and overall a great place to shop. If you don't believe me, just make the extra trek to the La Verne one and you'll see the world of difference. read more

Very clean, nice staff, ample selection. I wish they had more fresh tropical fruits available instead of the old squishy stuff. The Philippine mango (smaller & all yellow) are the best! I lived in Hawai'i and I would love to have the apple bananas like they sold on the island!!! Much better flavor than the old Chiquita standby. Nice flower selection. I have to go to the Asian grocery stores for tropical fruits. read more

This store is always clean, and their produce is fresh. Their wide arrangement of fragrant, beautiful flowers always makes me smile; I recommend making time to smell them. Their customer service is exceptional, I've never had an unpleasant experience. Just today, Dana went above and beyond to make my day. She was genuine and kind on a day when I needed it most. Kind of annoyed that I came her per a friends recommendation that I would find vegan "beyond burgers." Supposedly, all vons carry them on their shelves. When I got to this vons, several employees told me different things - one said they don't have them. Two said they did. Then when one of the guys went back to "check the stock." A different man came out from the back and apologized to me by telling me they forgot to re-stock. Seemed to me like kind of a cop out. Employees just seemed confused like I was asking them to find a unicorn or something... Eventually, one of the employees told me to come back and check in a few days. I don't know if I would trust making another trip over to that vons. I'll probably find another supermarket that carries what I need. read more

The Von's store itself is fine and they are starting to get more organic produce and products, service personnel are friendly and attentive. The main concern is the number of homeless that group by the door and smoke. This is the shopping center owner's responsibility to keep the premises safe and sanitary. Used to love this store. When they got bought out by Safeway, they started discontinuing items, and are always out of stuff. I'm constantly leaving, missing something on my grocery list. When mentioned to a manager, his explanation was, "We're having problems in our warehouse." Another manager said, "We're having problems with our distributors." Well, those "problems" have been going on for years. On top of this, I've recently encountered major problems in their bakery--they're burning everything! I've been complaining about the burnt cookies for months, but today was the clincher. Bread, bagels, pies, cookies, rolls, cinnamon rolls--burned. So bad, I took pictures. I talked to the manager, and he told me their ovens were broken. My question: WHY ARE THEY PUTTING OUT BURNED PRODUCTS??? His response: We have to. Really???? You have to put out burned products for your customers? When I said this, he walked away from me. Don't complain or contact headquarters--it will fall on deaf ears. Thank God there's an Albertson's in our city. read more

Love my store and all of the employees! I usually shop at night so they are my Fav. As far as the Deli goes, that is my pet peave with the management. They need at least 2+ people to help everyone. i've been a regular at Vons Glendora for 30 years. i was very disappointed to discover that a fraudulent Amazon gift card made it into their stock. After trying to purchase something with my gift card unsuccessfully i took it back to the store. They showed me how the card that was purchased at their store was fake but would not replace it with a legitimate card. very disappointing that they would not stand behind an item they sold. read more

One thing I'd like to mention about this store--today when I went in I was asked to donate to prostate cancer research. Near the cashier were two 2 liter bottles of soda with a sign that said if the cashier did not ask you to donate, you would get the soda for free. I felt this was insulting to both the cashier and the customer! It's bad enough we get solicited outside the store by so many organizations, but now the Vons cashiers MUST ask us EACH time we go through the line to donate to charity? Why is it the cashiers job to do Vons charity work--they should stick to their job and not have to pester their customers. read more

This store is horrible! Rude girls who don't know company policies and this Von's makes up its own florist pricing. Always different new prices to add to make the bill outrageous! Reality check: Your a grocery store, if I am paying 60 for a bouquet I will go to Grand Florist! Ask ALL prices of flowers including the rewrap charge $5 and add about $2 to all basic flower prices and add another $10 to the $9.99 roses. Outrageous! read more

I've been shopping at this store since I can remember, and it used to be really great, but recently it has just gone down the drain. There are never baskets at the front, I always have to look at the check-out lanes for them. They are frequently out of stock of many items (brown rice, yogurt, certain shredded cheeses, to name a few). "3's a crowd" lasted all of 3 months before they just stopped even trying to comply with that. As I am currently standing in line (at 7:00 pm on a Thursday), they have 2 check-out lanes open, and about 10-15 people waiting in line. Which, unfortunately, happens more often than not here now. Every single time I come here there is always a problem at check out because they get snotty when I show them I have WIC checks. I separate everything for them and make it super simple. Today was my last straw I was going by the signs they had listed for prices. There was no sign for the asparagus but all the other Safeway vegetables said 3/5 so I asked the worker in that area, and she said that all the Safeway vegetables were 3/5. Boris the assistant manager was very condescending when I told him that an employee even confirmed the price. He tried saying that they were in the wrong spot- not true because they have been in the same spot for the past year. He refused to assist and I ended up paying double. He said he couldn't do anything for me because I was using WIC. However my place is that it has nothing to do with WIC but the pricing listed should be the same for everyone! (I have pictures to back up what I am saying as well.) I go here because I can walk with my infant daughter and not use gas. The bagger Kirsten is always super nice and apologizing for the manager. Unfriendly service over an over again. My favorite kind of bagels sold out at 9 am - inquiring about them only to be told that they always sell out very quickly and I should come at 7 am if I want them. If they always sell out that quickly ... why then do they not bake some more of this kind???? Same day ... special offer, grab two of those, only to find out after paying that only one was registered at the special price. I am told that there is a limit of one and the second one therefore was charged at full price. Could me my mistake, but there was no sign for that limit in the aisle - nothing at all. These two latest experiences match very much the repeated experience over the last few months. Vons remains expensive unless you get specials, and very often the specials then are not honored at the cash register. Prices in the aisle often do not match the price charged. Anybody surprised I shop there less and less often - even if the shop is conveniently near where I live? read more

Why can't they keep prices on all their fruits and vegetables? Every time I go, there is something I want that doesn't have a price. So I have to decide not to get it or hunt down someone to give me a price. I've talked to corporate and was assured that it would be taken care. The problem was not and has not been fixed. read more

I have to say that the Starbucks employees at this Vons are the nicest polite wonderful people I have ever met. Cindy the manager is fantastic always has a smile and makes my morning everyday. Matty is the best the sweetest man ever. Melissa is a sweetheart. Everyone at that Starbucks rock. I'm serious. I apologise for not rembering the names of the recent new hires, but everyone is absolutely wonderful. I only go to that Starbucks. Just for the people the drinks are always perfect and the service is unbelievable. Don't ever let these employees get away from you. You can walk in sad and they make you laugh they always make my day. One other thing the cashier Christine with the beautiful nails and hair is the only checker I will go to. Not that everyone else is mean or anything like that. She is a hoot!!!! Always happy and smiling so helpful and a wonderful person. She is another person who makes it a pleasure to shop there.
