12 pieces of spicy fried chicken shoyu
    Naomi D.

This location is conveniently located across the street from KP, at the corner of street lights. After my Dr visit, I wanted some good fried chicken so I walked here afterwards. This location is small, but there are some bar chairs inside for customers to use. Two female employees were friendly. I ordered a dozen spicy fried chicken shoyu. The chicken came out super crunchy and spicy, good quality of meat- just how I like it! It took about ~20 mins to prep for the order.

Crispy, tasty and always hot and fresh. It's been years since we've gotten take out here and I'm happy to see the quality is still there. Inside it's kind of junky but I think there focus is carry out so who cares. I'm posting some menu photos because it looks like they recently revamped the pricing structure. The full order is smaller than before. I got the Crispy Shoyu Hot, I don't remember anything being this hot there before but the heat took me back to my recent trip to Korea so I welcome the flavor. Still if you can't handle heat stick with their mild options which are plenty. Always friendly service so I'll be sure not to let so much time go by between visits

My husband is in Hawaii for business right now and has been trying all of the local spots. Yesterday he went to this restaurant for lunch. He said the restaurant was clean and well kept, and was very busy. The staff was nice and his server did a good job. My husband loves spicy food and fried chicken, and he said his meal was a great combination of both! It was a lot of food for only $20! He said he would definitely be back before he leaves Hawaii to try some other stuff on their menu. If you like spicy food, large portions, and fried chicken, you definitely want to check this place out.

Soy Crispy Fried Garlic--liked the cut up pieces of garlic in it. Chicken was good.

Found this place on Yelp and had solid reviews. Vons is a Korean fried chicken joint that offers takeout. Seating is extremely limited--maybe two or three stools inside. Street parking only--at least that I'm aware of. Fried chicken here wasn't bad I thought. All packed with flavor. We had spicy, soy garlic, and shoyu. Spicy had good heat. Soy garlic had little minced pieces of garlic which added some nice flavor. And shoyu wasn't bad. I'd probably skip shoyu next time. Also had a side of snow fries and IMO that's a skip for takeout. It got soggy too fast in the bag after maybe 15 min. Overall chicken wasn't bad. Cheers.

Crispy Snow Wings - full order

We love this location since it's so close to home. I've only been to this location, so I can't say if it holds up to how all Vons operate. But, from all I know....definitely one of my top 3 spots for when I'm craving or just wanted fried chicken (which to be honest is at least 2x month lol). Located on Pensacola street, we grabbed a spot at one of the metered stalls right outside. It's a cozy place where most people just order by phone or grab and go. There is one small table with 3 stools that you can use if you want to eat there. We usually opt to eat there. Little tip: we found out it is BYOB so we'll sometimes grab a beverage from across the street while we wait and then enjoy our complete meal. Service is quick and friendly, usually about a 15 min wait for our food. We ordered a Full Order (20 pieces) and our flavor choice today was the Snow (cheese & onions) and a side of Honey Butter fries. The chicken comes out piping hot and crispy! With the snow powder that blankets the wings and bottom of the box. So far I've tried their honey butter and snow flavors, but will be back again to try their others. They also offer half orders, and plates. Always a solid and reliable choice, and one of our favorite fried chicken spots.

Mandoo in a vented container, drenched in sauce. You need to request no sauce or sauce on the side if you don't want this mess.
    Violet H.

The Von's I usually order from was closed, so I got delivery from this location for the first time. The snow wings were soul-satisfying, as they always have been. It's good to find consistency of quality in different franchise locations. I continue to yearn for just a bit more cheese, though. But then they lost me with the mandoo. There was no option for "no sauce," just "regular," "mild," and " spicy." I didn't want any sauce but selected mild. They took great care to vent the container so the mandoo wouldn't get limp and soggy. Then they completely undermined that effort. Foolish me for assuming the sauce would be on the side. Instead, the mandoo were drenched in this sickly sticky and slightly sweet sauce. My taste buds were not amused. I don't care for them but I won't waste food, either. Should I order mandoo from here again, I will write in a special request for NO SAUCE.

Shoyu garlic mild crispy chicken on top. The yangnyeom Crispy Fried Chicken bottom.

Service is great and the wings are excellent. Not sure why it took me so long to drop in a Vons chicken. But I'm glad I finally did. This place is small and only two tables for dining in but we as most do ordered to go. The wait was about 15 minutes which you'd expect for freshly seasoned battered fried chicken. We ordered two half orders (10) wings. The Yangnyeom medium crispy fried chicken was very tasty and not as spicy as we like so would get the hot next time. Nice thin crispy exterior. Very succulent and tasty inside. A solid 5/5 The second order was the shoyu crispy chicken which had the same crispy texture but the seasoning was a light mild flavor. Again a 5/5. Definitely a great chicken wing spot. OBTW they were completely slammed and sold out on Super Bowl Sunday. T

Vons Chicken on Pensacola Street. Order ahead for less wait time, and there's limited street parking. Always hot and fresh and deliciously coated with a good amount of coating.

Walking in, it was dark, cozy, smelling delicious and it was Full House. We were seated quickly with servers that were friendly & fast. We picked the menu option on page 1, $77 per person lunch set menu that includes 4 types of meat, steam eggs, kimchi pancake, different dipping sauces; including bean paste dipping sauce and raw garlic slices and abundant Banchan little appetizer dishes. The meats were fresh and tasty. The spicy cold noodles were refreshing, and all the Banchan little dishes offered lots of varieties and refillable. You know this place is authentic when you have bean paste dipping sauce and raw garlic slices. They are not trying to tailor to westerners. The grill was hot, the meat was sizzling and the food kept coming. We ate as much as we can, and there were so much food, at the end. We were about to explode. This place is so good and we can't wait to come back.

I really enjoy the Korean comfort foods! 4 stars for the food, soups, and ban chan, 5 stars if the service was great. Typical service you will get at a Korean spot but no complaints. Just gotta be patient for ban chan refills or if you need anything else, I don't expect much just happy that I get to have my Korean food. During this recent Saturday visit, I decided to go here for our late lunch, after hiking Koko Head Trail & Makapuu. It was about 4:30 pm, we were the only ones there, but it filled up pretty quick an and they do have many take out and Uber/Door Dash orders. My favorites here are the combo set, choice of soondubu (combination, kim chee, spam, beef, sausage, clam,) & either meat jun, fried mandoo, bulgogi, yellow corvina, seafood jun, or BBQ chicken. The combo use to be $20.55 my first time but now went up to $23.55, hence the increase, it is still a great deal, this meal comes with rice and 5 different ban chan. This combo was more than enough for the both of us. My favorite is the spam soondubu ( yes. who picks Spam right?! hehe) & the seafood Jun. Although it so hard to decide since all the choices are good, I will have to visit again for the other selection. The other half and I cannot eat an entire combo set by ourselves. I love the ban chan, especially the daikon & kim chee, so fresh and crispy! When I first dined here, I was surprise to see they give you a fresh egg to crack in your soondubu soup, I am use to the egg already in there. We always have leftover soondu soup which I take home and add to my Korean ramen the next day, so good! Support this local mom & pop restaurant, So Gong Dong has been around for the longest time just only recently I've discovered it. I will be back for the next Korean soondubu, ban chan fix!

For the meats, the beef brisket and beef toro were the stars, but the beef chuck was slightly tough and dry. They were also out of bulgogi, which was disappointing. The pork had a really strong boar taint smell/taste, which completely turned me off from ordering any of the pork. We had to ask for more meat and banchan refills multiple times. There was usually a pretty noticeable lag before anything came out, which was frustrating for an AYCE spot. They also seemed to be selective about which banchans they would refill. They would bring more of the dishes like kimchi and cucumber, but when we asked for more tuna mac, they wouldn't give us any. It also looked like there were only two people working while there were probably around 10 tables during the Tuesday lunch rush, so I do think they were understaffed.
