DO NOT GET THE HONEY CHICKEN WITH BUTTER COVERED IN SUGAR! I REPEAT DO NOT! Why?! Because they put too much sugar on the chicken and it just over powers the whole chicken in a bad way, basically it was eating straight sugar. The crunchy fried chicken was delicious and the Crispy Yang Yum was okay. It was okay because they over did it on the sauce. The regular and honey fries were both enjoyable. read more

I ordered the garlic chicken. It was hot, fresh, and tasty with the right amount of crunch. The meat was tender and flavorful.

This location is offering takeout. It was very easy to order online. I'm SUPER happy with this chicken for multiple reasons. 1) the crisp on the wing was spectacular, even on the saucy one! And it stayed crispy, never got soggy!! I haven't experienced a crisp like this since I was in Seoul. Absolutely amazing, and a texture I've been chasing at Korean and wing places everywhere ever since having chicken in Seoul. 2) the "spicy" was actually spicy!" Crispy fried chicken and crispy yang yum chicken. Definitely felt the burn throughout eating our order, the burn only lasts a few minutes though but both had great flavor too, not bland for the regular, and not just burning for the spicy...actual flavor it was perfect in every way. read more

I had to pick a spot to eat where I can have a short small reunion with an old high school friend. She was traveling from Hawaii and her extended stay was in Mendocino. I got so indecisive that I ended up here at Vons Chicken. The reviews on yelp looked promising, so why not try it. We ordered the Vons Special Sauce Chicken Spicy and the Crispy Yang Yum Chicken Mild. I thought they were both equally good. The chicken was still crispy even though being tossed into their sauces. I have to be honest that I wasn't too much dazzled. It was good but not spectacular. I'd still recommend this place. The environment was really clean and the workers were nice. read more

Pro: The crunch on the chicken was good. Con: I think they should make it very clear that when you order the combo, the drumsticks that come with it are REGULAR drumsticks, not the party wing drumsticks. Was unpleasantly surprised to open our box and find several regular drumsticks inside. read more

The Crispy Fried Chicken Wings were BOMB. Completely lives up to the hype even for take out. Perfectly crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. I got the spicy level but do not think it was very spicy. The chicken flavor was perfect on its own, but they do provide a to-go mini ketchup which I thought was nice. It also comes with a side of Cole slaw and pickled radish. I didn't try the Cole slaw but the radish was good, not too sweet. It was a refreshing palette cleanser. I had ordered all wings but received a combo of wings and drums. I usually don't like drums bc they are normally not as moist, but that wasn't the case here. Their drums are also pretty big. The wings were a good size. DO NOT get their honey butter fries, unless you like you like your fries drenched with sugar. Don't get me wrong, I love love sweet things, (which is why honey butter peaked my interest) but this was on another level. It could have been good if they toned the sugar topping down 12 notches especially since I assume the fries were already bathed in honey and butter? Unfortunately, I was too hungry so didn't get to take photos. I will definitely take some next time as I will be back for their chicken. I can't wait to try their other flavors, might wait to try the honey butter one last since I'm scarred atm. They also sell rice cakes as a side item. I happen to have some rice cakes at home so I asked if I could just buy just the sauce and she said yes. It's only $1 for those interested. They are open during COVID for take out. You are not allowed inside. When you open the door there's a table blocking the entrance with a clear acrylic wall. You pass your card under the slot, and they pass the food through the side gap. Service was great. When I called on the phone she kindly answered all my questions and explained the difference between crunchy and crispy chicken (crunchy having more batter and being more fluffy). She was also very friendly in person. read more

it's super good! i love to eat here through doordash. the service is amazing considering the amount of people that were here. the ambiance was family-like read more

The food is good but it used to be a lot better. The last couple of times we've been some of the chicken has been way over cooked or at worst re-cooked/heated. It's still solid but also a bit disappointing. Also, I wish there were more side dishes that weren't fried. But it's still worth a try. Maybe we just had a couple of off days. We've also always done pick up so I don't have an opinion about the service. read more

This is my first time trying out this restaurant, it was recommended by a friend only because she knows that i love BonChon Chicken. There is not much on the menu but they have good selection of chicken flavors and side dishes. Price is a little bit on the high side but it's alright. Customer Service is okay but it looks like they just started because one of the servers is still training a new employee. The place is average, it's not that inviting but super clean and i like that. Maybe a little more time and they can do some upgrades. Layout wise i think they can do so much with this small place. I like their logo it's eye catching, but i hope they should have used the impact of their logo into the interior of the place. I am excited to taste the food! read more

If I could choose 10 stars I would! I moved to Concord in 2016 and Vons chicken not only has great chicken but also amazing customer service. The owner is so kind and generous. Every time I came in or even just picked up food, she would also greet me and have a genuine conversation with me. Now that I'm leaving, not only will I miss the food but the kindness and warmth from the owner. Lastly, not once have they ever screwed up my order . Even when asking for all coleslaw and no radish. Lol! I want to personally thank you all for your kindness and great food. read more

Get their crispy fried wings; they're delicious. I also tried their honey butter wings (too bad they use honey butter POWDER, not real honey and real butter - but still delicious though). I also got their spicy rice cake; delicious when warm, tough in texture when cold. My only complaint is that each order of chicken is promised on their menu to come with a set of coleslaw and radish; but when we ordered two orders of chicken, we only got one set of dishes :( Shouldn't they provide us with two sets of sides though? But we didn't bother asking for more sides, cause they weren't that good, especially the slaw... read more

Saw this on yelp and decided to give it a try. Ordered crunchy combo and soy sauce and black vinegar combo. Even after a 20 minute drive home, food was nice and hot and were absolutely delicious. The soy sauce and black vinegar had a little kick to it, but very flavorful. The crunchy chicken was exactly that even after the drive. They give coleslaw and pickled radish as sides and they were both good. Parking garage is right next door so easy in and out. Highly recommend if you like fried chicken you have to give the crunchy chicken a try. Will definitely go back. read more

Vons chicken employee was very rude for in person pick up. The chicken wasn't even good . And to make matters worse they charged my card an EXTRA $20!! i physically wrote in the amount and signed my receipt at $59 and my bank card was charged $71. Pretty sure thats illegal. I will never go back again but first i will make sure they refund me my money. BEWARE OF THEM OVERCHARGING YOU AFTER YOU SIGN THE RECEIPT ! read more

Wow! Blazinga, awesome, marvelous unbelievably delicious! These are the words that come to in my mind when thinking/eating VONS CHICKEN! This is the SECOND night in a row that I am ordering from this place. I'm HUGE FAN OF ASMR and have seen many of the people I follow try VONS chicken... As I was bored of DoorDash, Postmates and Uber eats I decided to open up Yelp and look for a new spot. And boy did they find a great spot. Delicious crispy chicken cooked to perfection. It's freaking amazing!! Last night I ordered The roasted oven chicken and garlic chicken and it's delicious!!! The customer service was also on point! Try it! You'll love it!! read more

Workers are extremely slow! Placed my phone order, came on time and waited an additional 50 mins until my small order was ready. Either they forgot my order or didn't put it in but not acceptable either way. read more

I ordered pick-up from this place and the hours listed on Yelp were slightly off for Saturday (they opened at 11:30, but Yelp said 11 -- it looks like this has been updated!). Regardless, I got a phone call from the staff to explain the situation and it was totally fine. Fast forward to picking up the chicken (they had it ready ~15 minutes after opening and were very prompt and organized when I got there!) and taking it to a family party about a 40minute drive away. The chicken was still so crisp and warm! They don't shut/seal the boxes so the steam doesn't make the chicken soggy which is A+. Also, the flavors and crunch/crisp to the skin was just so delicious! It also came with the cubed radish side dish which is super awesome. I ordered original and spicy. Spicy was pretty hot but my typical spice level is in the mild-medium range. read more

Was staying with my friend for a week in concord and had a craving for fried chicken. We had tried fresh tray a few times now but never had tried Vons. I saw on their website that they had lunch specials where you can get 6 pcs of your flavor choice boneless fried chicken and 2 sides for 9.95. Thought this was an excellent deal and decided to give them a try. We ordered from their website for pickup and order took about 30-40 mins (understandable bc chicken takes a while to cook). When we arrived opened the door and there are tables blocking anyone from going in, for the workers' safety. Told them our names for pick up. Pick up was very easy. I ordered the honey butter fried chicken with French fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was less than a "side", seemed more like a condiment size. It was still good. They're fries were great too! The honey butter fried chicken was interesting in a good way (I guess). My chicken was topped with what I assume is a sugar and butter mixture. It was good but I'm not sure I would order it again. I do want to try other flavors before deciding which one I would like best. I'll definitely hit up Vons chicken when I'm in the concord area again! read more

Vons Chicken - 6 pcs Crispy Fried with Honey Butter & fries (lunch special) - Chicken Wings Near Me - Concord, California

There food is FABULOUS, but VERY SLOW service. Granted they cook their food fresh when ordered but it's beyond that. Suggest to call well in advance for a takeout order and even when you go to pick up you'll still be waiting. So minus one star for that. read more

Vons grows their chickens BIG! My first experience here tonight- pickup order of Garlic Chicken drums, Vons Special Sauce drums, & kimchi fried rice. You're not getting buffalo wings-size chicken, so a half order of wings or drums are listed as 5 pieces, but them pieces is JUMBO! Me & my son split 10 drums & 1 order of kimchi rice. You get cole slaw & diced radishes w/ the chicken orders. EVERYTHING we got was. I would never order radishes anywhere, but as a side w/ slaw & Vons special sauce chicken, hella bomb!! Get it. Love it. U won't regret it:) Thanks to the ladies who pulled the order for me, & thanks Vons! read more

Not gonna lie, but came here after watching crash landing on you... searched for a Korean "bbq chicken" place and this popped up. It sure hit the spot... spicy with a savory crispy texture. Chicken was juicy but little bit on the expensive side. Requested for the combo which was 1 dollar more but came out to be mostly drumsticks anyway. Overall, really hit the spot for some Korean fried chicken! read more

This franchise is definitely on-par with Vons in Korea. We ordered the pa-dak green onion chicken, original crispy, some dumplings, and a salad. The order was ready by the time we arrived, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming, even though we weren't allowed to go in due to social distancing. After a 20-minute drive home, we found the chicken was still crispy, hot, and fresh. The flavors were spot on, and we got exactly what we ordered, plus a little extra. I can't wait to try the soy-garlic and yangnyeom next time. read more

I don't make reviews often u less I really feel strongly about a place. Idk why the views here are mediocre when this place legit makes some of the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. Korean style fried chicken. Perhaps the best in the east bay, & that includes some high end, celebrity chef kitchens. We're fans! Serving size is generous. Crispy batter and juicy meat. Atmosphere is mediocre but we're here for the chicken! Take out avail. Pre-order online. read more

It was my first time trying out this place! Ordered through GrubHub and I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and yummy these fried chicken are!! The butter honey wings are soooooo yummy. Me and my husband ate all the chicken in a speedy mode. The chicken wings are juicy inside, crispy outside. They did a great job of the time as in how long the eings should be in the hot oil. It is not greasy at all! They also have excellent packaging and made it so easy for sharing. We would definitely order again. Just wish that they would be a little cheaper. Highly recommend! read more

I love Vons Chicken! I really recommend their Honey Butter Chicken and Cheddar Chicken! The honey butter chicken is sweet and salty while the cheddar chicken is less sweet. Both are really delicious with white rice. Their servings are pretty good for the price. I order through DoorDash and it usually takes 20 minutes for them to get it ready. I highly recommend you to try it. read more

MMMMMEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHH................................... That would be my official statement about Von's. I been here a bunch of times, I think I even wrote a review a while back, but pooh, it's gone?!?!?! Oh well, here's an updated one. TIP: DO NOT come here for the service, you will be very disappointed. Of all the times I have been here, the service is fair at best. Perhaps it's a little due to the language barrier or what not. Don't expect the staff to just come with hi's or thank you's. Be prepared for "what do you want to have, hurry, I am busy." Other than that, excellent place for Korean Fried Chicken. Come here for the delicious chicken, nothing else. If you must, side orders of salad, fries, onion rings, kimchi fried rice is also available. The sides they offer are relatively small compare to the prices they charge for them. They are delicious as well, but just a little on the pricy side for the size of the items. Just about every flavor of the chicken they have are very good to excellent. So there are no wrong choices when ordering the chicken. The soy garlic, spicy sauce or spicy powdered, cheese, plain, all of them are very good. EXCEPT...........honey butter, that one is gross. It's got sugar, plain sugar, like the one you put in your coffee in the morning all over it. They made a batch of it for us by mistake and they wanted us to keep it anyways. I would have if it was any other flavor, just not HONEY BUTTER, : ( Overall: Beers are cold, chicken was awesome, except the honey butter mistake I took a bite of. And most of all, don't come here for the service. Other than that, all smiles. read more

Our waitress was nice and the chicken was just ok. That, I'm afraid, exhausts all the positives. Great prices? Hell no! I had to laugh when I saw their catering poster advertising 100 wings for $110. Are you kidding me? See pic. You're ordering 100 wings and they're charging over a dollar a piece! What? We split a ten piece (let's remember these are very tiny pieces) with fries and a coke and it was over 20.00. Despite the place being practically empty, we waited for forever for our food but they gave us our fries at least 20 minutes before our chicken was ready. Why? The fries were gross. The frozen cornstarch coated variety that people at La Reve think are a revelation. Soggy coleslaw, flat coke. We had the crispy boneless chicken. I expected breast meat. Nope. Boneless thighs. Not the end of the world but you know, cough up a little bit of the good stuff. Overall, the chicken wasn't horrible but nor could I recommend it. I wouldn't sleep at night. read more

After eyeballing this place while walking to my car from yoga I finally stopped in to give it a try. I thought this would be a walk in order at the counter to go place. To my surprise, you are actually seated and a waiter takes your order albeit super casual. I walked in and only 1 other person was there. I was greeted immediately and the waiter was very pleasant and helpful giving me suggestions since you can get all kinds of flavors of chicken every which way. I ended up getting 1/2 order of crispy chicken (mild), 1/2 order garlic chicken and an order of the rice cakes (rolls) mild. It included some pickled radish & coleslaw which we could've done without. It was bland and not good. Wait was about 20 minutes. Once I headed home, opened the boxes up and it smelled great. Rice cakes were okay, I expected it to have a bit of crispness on the outside (he told me it would be), and the sauce was too much. It didn't have much flavor and I would've liked it without actually. The chicken was good overall but could be crispier. The garlic was not crispy at all. Overall chicken was good but nothing special and nothing I haven't had before. Price point was on the pricier side for what you get. 1/2 order mix of wings/drums (random mix,6) $12.99. For (2) 1/2 orders & rice cakes it was about $40 (with tip). Given all the above factors I probably won't be back but gave it a try. read more

I wanted to give Vons the benefit of the doubt, especially during this time, but the service just wasn't good. When I arrived, I was told my order was "2nd in line" but was given no other information. Many others arrived after and were similarly told that they would need to wait until their order was ready, but plenty others arrived and immediately got their orders throughout the duration of my wait. After about 20-25 minutes, I asked for an update and was told that they had to change the oil out halfway through my order. While I think this was truthful, I was still given no estimate on when my order would be ready. I asked again about 10 minutes later and was told it would be ready in 5 minutes. Over 5 minutes later, I was told they were boxing it up. Didn't receive my order until 5 minutes after that, making it almost a whole hour wait for my food after I had arrived to pick it up. Transparency can go a long way, but the staff did not make much effort to communicate with their customers. Everyone else who arrived and waited was not given an estimate on when their food would be ready. There were also plenty of other people who arrived after all of us and received their orders immediately, which made it seem like they did not even start making some of our orders until after we arrived to pick them up. Plus, the staff would often stay behind the bar at the very back of the restaurant while talking to customers who were asking about their orders, even though there was already a clear wall barrier set up at the door, which made it difficult for customers to hear them clearly. It was clear that Vons' staff did not have a good system in place for dealing with the dinner rush and that their staff was not interested in communicating with their customers. It looked like they were understaffed as well, which is not their fault, but keeping your customers in the dark is just not acceptable, especially when all of them had arrived thinking their orders were ready because of Grub Hub's inaccurate pickup timer. read more

The chicken is always fresh and super crispy just the way I like them!! They are reasonably priced and the flavors are savory with a hint of sweet I absolutely love the pickled daikon it comes with.
