The waiting area sells various pug merchandise and also has a touchscreen pinball machine. There is a unisex restroom available. Once our party stepped into a separate pink & clean room, the staff went over instructions on how to handle the pugs. Visitors are allowed to pick up the pugs but cannot carry them while standing. Any pug wearing a pink bandana is available for adoption. Each of us received few free treats to start, but additional treats like pupccino (a small pup cup), sausage treats, or fruit cups are available for purchase. The staff was friendly and was playing fun & energetic background music during the pug session. Our party didn't stay for the entire hour and left around the 45-minute mark because we had a dinner plan afterward. [Conclusion]: Our party had fun playing with the pugs and took plenty of photos. It's located in Universal City Walk, which means Universal Studios parking (with validation from AMC) and neighbors Hot Topic, Ben n Jerry's, and a few other fun shops. A lot of tourists are typically on City Walk, as well as people on their way to and from Universal Studios. There tends to be a lot of people no matter the day (for the most part). The cafe doesn't have an inside - so no indoor seating, but they have a small outdoor area that is slightly gated off with some chairs and tables for the cafe specifically. If they're packed, though, most people sit on the wall on the side, or try to find seating somewhere else, although it's nearly impossible. Universal City Walk has a restroom, but Hello Kitty And Friends Cafe does not. Additionally, their menu is pretty limited. This cafe is really a niche spot for people to take their photos and get an Instagram worthy treat. Out of all the food treats, there are no dairy-free and/or gluten-free items. The items they did have featured a mini slice of chocolate cake, a birthday cake, macaroons, and a couple more items. All of the food is premade and comes from a bag, so don't expect anything super amazing. They did have good drinks, though. We got two different types of drinks, my friend and I both getting the same one, being an electric blue lemonade. The drinks were tasty and we'd definitely at least get those again! If you like or even LOVE Hello Kitty, then this location could be worth checking out! If you're willing to make a day out of it at Universal City Walk, or even Universal Studios, then it can be a fun addition! The aesthetic for the store's front at least is super cute. Gluten-free and/or dairy-free? Be cautious and just get a drink from them. As a previous repeat customer who tried to give this place multiple chances, it is nothing but a cash-grab by greedy owners who care nothing about kids. The owner, Geraldine, also loves to promote her business on Facebook groups, and even whine about lack of "support" from people, but when previous customers try to make suggestions or anything remotely resembling a valid criticism, she'll remove the post so no one sees it.
