Let me start off by saying, I wish I could give Irene more than just 5 stars, that doesn't seem enough. She saved the day! I'm sitting here writing this the night before my wedding. I had accidentally snagged my nail on the lace netting of the back of my dress. Needless to say, I was a crying mess yesterday. I even made the hole worse by putting nail polish on it, (yeah ... don't ever do that... I shouldn't have listened)! I called elsewhere and they said there was nothing they can do. This morning I decided to try again and I called this place. She told me to meet her later that morning with the dress to see what can be done. She calmed me down while I was still near breaking down again and told me she could fix it. Honestly, I had my doubts especially since I was told the day prior it can't be done! Long story ... but she fixed it! Not only fixed it, but I can't even tell what she did to fix it. It looks like nothing ever happened, if not even better than how the dress looked before! She is an absolute gem. Not only did she fix my wedding dress, she did it in such stellar time that I had time to take it to the photographer to have the dress posed and photographed before the sun went down today. Irene knows her craft. I met with her initially to discuss altering my Martina Liana wedding gown that I purchased in excellent condition from the samples bridal shop, Glamour Closet, in North Beach. I'm a size 6, the gown was a size 12. The bodice and length had to be adjusted quite a bit to fit my body. My meeting with Irene lasted at least an hour long and I felt she took the time to explain to me the process of how she would disassemble the multiple layers of tulle underneath the silk gown, remove the French appliquéd lace, and tulle panels that were the top layers of my gown. I met with her three times during the fitting and alteration process and I usually arrived a bit anxious from my Concord to Castro Valley commute. I was greeted each time with Irene's warm and calming voice and an offer for coffee or a sip of wine to relax me. My dress was not an easy fix (especially creating my unique bustle) and it took a couple of months to alter, but the result left me and my wedding guests breathless. I felt like Cinderella in my ball gown wedding dress! If you are a meticulous bride and want your alterations done by one of the best in the Bay Area, go to Irene. I have been going to Irine for several years now for various alterations. She is great at minor alterations and she is amazing at doing big and major alterations. I entrusted Irine with all of our wedding alterations. As you may know if you've been married before, this is the most important day of your life so you wouldn't give this job to just anyone. I can honestly say that she did the best job possible, my dress fit me like it was custom made for me. She also did a fantastic job on my husband's suite and my bridesmaids dresses. To top it off she also made me a beautiful veil from start to finish. Irine puts her whole self into her work, I can tell that she loves what she does. Although I never got anything tailored from Irene, she did meet me for a free consultation and gave me a really good impression, making me wish I'd gone with her instead for my original wedding dress alterations. She is meticulous and all about the fine details. She also has such a lovely sense of style - she was able to mock up a beautiful, trendy bustle for my wedding dress using pins. I really appreciated the time and care she took for my consultation, even though she wasn't sure if I'd have her do the bustle. You can only see her by appointment, but if you're too shy to call, you can always message her on Yelp. She responds quickly. Her workshop is actually at her house. She has a small dog, which is fairly obedient, and shouldn't be a problem. There's not much signal in her neighborhood, so just a warning. read more

Working with Irene exceeded my expectations. She helped my wife get multiple wedding dresses altered to the point where she was incredibly happy, going above and beyond when my wife had very specific things she wanted fixed. Irine is a fabulous seamstress! She can make any clothing piece look perfect on you. I have been going to Irine for alterations for about 10 years and have never been disappointed. Just recently we has few weeding to attend to and again she did a fabulous job on all of the alterations; my bridesmaid dress, husbands suite and daughters flower dress. One thing I really love about Irines alterations is that she is current with the most recent styles. So she gives me good suggestions on the style trends but is never pushy to do it her way.
