Fir the jacket, I have always been off the rack guy but the pant always need hemming. Searching Yelp, I found Annette. I made a call told her what I needed then dropped by her place. We chatted a bit then she pinned my slacks. My pants were done within a couple of days (over Thanksgiving week) so the turnover was quite reasonable. Annette is very personable. Did not have a good experience with Anne and I will never go to her again. I had given her my cocktail dress to shorten and make the waist more fitted for me. I paid her about 150 dollars. I had trusted her with my dress and because of all the great reviews I thought I had nothing to worry about. I finally go to pick up my dress from her and I finally try it on and notice the lining of the dress is off and it's not sewed on. So when I wear the dress the cloth underneath folds which was not originally there. She had forgotten to take care of that which was extremely unprofessional of her. If you're going to charge 150 dollars make sure to get the job done right. Of course I let her know and she said to bring it back so she could fix it. I decided to not have her fix because if you can mess up and charge a lot at the same time then you are just not someone I can trust with my dress again. It's been a few years since I first brought her a bridesmaid dress that needed to be tailored to fit me but since then I've also come back with pants that needed hemming for my height and thrift store finds that were too large but too cute to not buy. When I first contacted Annette, I was in a bind and needed my dress altered 1 month before my wedding day. I called to see if she could see me within the next 15 minutes, and she said she was working in the chicken coop so I had to come by in 30 minutes instead. I thought that was the cutest thing! Annette worked on my dress and I absolutely love it! She had 12 layers of tulle and lace to hem several inches. She was so quick and did a very good job. Over the next month, I brought my 4yr old sons suit, my dad's dress pants and finally my mother's dress to her. She got them done quickly and professionally. My mother's dress was stunning! These dresses are junior sized making it tougher for a mature woman to fit into a small size bodice. I called Annette on a Friday afternoon, and she was able to see me within the hour. Annette came up with an amazing corset idea to replace the zipper and prevent the need for more satin material to be sewed in. By Monday morning my dress was ready! I am a 4"9 adult and I'm considered "special size." I've been to plenty of alteration places, but I've never found a place that was as quick as her. Her prices are also reasonable. I bought a dress online because I have such a hard time finding dresses at stores. The dress was too long and my titz were popping out which was inappropriate for a Cotillion (18th birthday). I called asking for a quote on a bridesmaid dress. She said she needed me to bring it in and told me to come at 3:00 the next day took down my name and number. Her office is located at her home across from an elementary school. 3:00pm is not ideal as school is getting out and there's a long line of cars trying to get into the parking lot and therefore blocks you from getting in. I half park in front of the driveway and ask her if that's okay (btw entrance is through the back fence and not the front door). I arrive and she asks if I have an appointment. I said yes she told me 3:00pm. She said she had another appointment on the way but if mine is minor she'll have a look and told me to undress in her glass room because it was just her and chickens home. I'm getting into my dress and she offers to help zip me up. I have the zipper on the side and tell her it's a side zipper and she keeps trying to make it a back zipper so my dress is on crooked. Eventually we get it on correctly. She pins up my dress asying $5 here $10 here, guessing total around $30. (okay that's reasonable). She also has me use bra insert things saying it'll look better. As she's pinning me in her daughter comes home, and needs to leave, but I'm blocking and she's in a rush or something. Annette quickly writes me a receipt and tells me to sign (I'm still in the dress). I notice the receipt is for $45. I replied "I'm sorry I thought it was closer to $30). She said she'll give me $5 off (but for one side alteration I had got a quote for $30 elsewhere). At this point she's like you have to move your car my daughter has to leave. I said I'm sorry that's why i was looking for a quote, and she's like it's fine takes out the pins (where it was pinned has holes in the material so I can only hope another place is going to alter it the same way) and tells me to change and move. As I am once again changing in this glass room there's another client outside, and I hear a kid yelling grandma, so i rush to change and am shooed out of the office to move my car. I've already returned to work when I realized I still had the bra inserts things, but it was also because she rushed me out but she left me 3 messages that I had taken her inserts and she needs them back for her client. I let her know that I can't turn around right now but can return it the following day. (she mentioned earlier that they were like $5 at michaels) I return it the same day, and she ask me if I had found a better price (at that moment I hadn't gone anywhere else since leaving her place) and she tells me well you should probably have them do both sides rather than one to make it centered (which she wasn't going to do because she only pinned me on one side originally). Overall it was just a weird experience and it's unfortunate I had wasted time going there twice, second time because I was rushed out and not really given a real appointment. I had Lululemon pants hemmed at my regular dry cleaning spot and was super disappointed. When I need to get alterations done on my work polos, I knew I had to look around. I ended up with Annette because another place said the work would take about a week. I needed it ASAP for work, and Annette asked me to bring the shirt in to give me a better estimate. It was a size small and needed it trimmed down to an xs. It was huge on me, and I can't be with clients looking unkempt. Other places would pin my shirt and ask if I thought it looked nice. I usually respond with...sure. I need a pro to advise me. Annette delivered. She took the time to tell me what looked good, what would be too tight because of the fabric, what colors looked good on me, my posture, life, etc. haha I dropped off the shirts during my lunch, and they were ready the same day--awesome. When I tried them on, I immediately smiled because they fit perfectly. We also looked at the stitching on my lululemon pants since I had them on. The other place didn't have the right machine; it had a single stitch and isn't suitable for yoga/stretchable material. I compared it to the stitching on the shirts she did. She has the machine =). I called Annette to attach a zipper to a pillow case that covers a pillow that my small dog uses as a bed. She was courteous and professional and indicated she could take it that day and would have it done the next day. She would have been able to do it the same day but since it was a long zipper she needed to pick one up at a local sewing supply store. As promised, it was done the following day. I was amazed at the quality and speed of her work, and the icing on the cake was her prices are very, very reasonable. I came here because this was recommended to me by someone and by looking at the Yelp Reviews, she's highly rated. I have mixed opinions on the alterations though. Annette is a very sweet lady and she definitely takes pride in her work. Her work address is her home address, I believe because this is just in a residential neighborhood in a single family home - she'll take you through the back to her work space where she'll measure you and do everything. A lot of the reviews mentioned that her price is reasonable but I found it quite the opposite. I was surprised by the cost of my alteration of the dress but I went along with it since I figure she'll do great work. In terms of the alteration, I think she might have miscalculated my measurements initially. She did her thing on the first time and when I returned in a week, the dress was tighter than she expected so she had to fix it. It was a little tight but do-able. When it came to the big day, it was very hard to fit but it managed. Also, I had a sash that I kept with the dress which I kept everything together when I brought her the dress. I cannot find the sash, so I am not sure if the sash was left at her place or if I lost it myself (I never wore the sash, I realized it was missing for the big day). For someone who works from the comfort of her own house, I would expect the prices to be lower. She said she gave me a discount but I am convinced I could've gotten similar results or even better results from a different place. One thing I do like about her is her flexibility - I can come after work even when it's dark or later in the evening like after 6pm. Her neighborhood could be better lit though so it's not very easy finding the house in the dark (it's not always easy finding places in the dark and it's even harder in a residential neighborhood). I am going to get my dress re-alter though at a different place since it no longer fits me. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I called and explained I needed my dress shortened by Saturday and if she had time and she told me to come at 7pm. I show up at 7pm and she tells me I have to wait 20 mins because someone else showed up and they are doing a fitting. It may not be a big deal to others but I did tell her that I can come at whatever time works best for her. She should have told me a different time then. She calls me back because I decided to leave after waiting for 15 mins and I tell her I can come back in the morning she says okay that's fine and then she changed her mind within 1 minute saying actually I can't take you I think you should go somewhere else and I have a lot of other clothes to alter and don't have time. Bought a dress last minute before an event I have to go to on Saturday, but had to get the length altered.
