I used Nadia because she was recommended by Garnet and Grace. I wish I would've shopped around instead. Nadia is professional but not necessarily friendly. She is also pricier than other seamstresses I've shopped around with. She has a limited schedule. When I did my initial fitting she kind of waited for me to tell her what I wanted fix. I knew dress didn't fit perfectly but I couldn't pin point how to fix it. The seamstress I worked with for my reception dress was a lot more helpful in guiding me on what should be done. The one thing I did ask for (tightened straps), she didn't recommend because she thought it would cut into me when I moved--I was constantly pulling them up on my wedding day. One thing really bothered me. When I booked, she stated there would be 2-3 fittings. However; when I asked when I asked when my 2nd fitting would be she said she was fully booked. Like I said earlier, she has a limited scheduled. I was really nervous, but I was able to book at G&G instead of at her house so I was able to get my second fitting. It food well enough that I didn't ask for any adjustments because I was already frustrated with the situation. The hemming and bustle she did were okay. The extra breast cups she put in were loose and could have been done better. I think Nadia was a skilled seamstress but I would choose someone else if I could do it all again. I would have preferred to use the seamstress I had for my reception dress. The communication, scheduling, and pricing was much better. read more

I reached out to Nadia two weeks before my baby shower to see if she could alter my dress in time for the event. She saw me the next day after my request and even finished the job a week early! I was nervous as the dress I chose was about 3 sizes too big because of my pregnant belly, but Nadia was able to raise the waistline and take in the dress to make it fit just like a maternity dress. She also hemmed the bottom since I am petite and took extra care to make sure the edge was level with the ground, not so simple when you have a baby lifting the front part of the dress higher than the back haha. The alterations were more expensive than the dress but I'd say it was worth it considering I couldn't find many styles that fit my taste, and Nadia did a stellar job and delivered the end product way ahead of schedule. I was referred to Nadia from Garnet + Grace boutique, so I believed that she was able to make all the adjustments needed to my wedding gown. Long story short, I paid over $650 in alterations, to only have my gown not completed and having to spend an additional $1000 on my gown. She charged me for things that never even got done. I found pins where she was suppose to alter the hem and never got done. She was suppose to add sleeves to my dress and then suggested that I use double sticky tape, zero innovation and a bad suggestion to any bride. Boning was added to my sleeves by the miracle hands that saved the day. I should have known something was up when she stated on my first appointment that she "preferred cash only". I feel really scammed, I was embarrassed to say anything because it's not like me to complain. It was just all around a bad move. In addition to hemming and bustling the dress, she removed a large applique, added detachable off-the-shoulder sleeves, and also added extra fabric in the back to make it less low-cut. OMG!!! Nadia is seriously THE BEST! I searched far and wide trying to find a quality yet reasonably priced alterations lady for my wedding dress from a sample sale at a bridal boutique. The boutique gave me a price estimate of nearly $1000 and I just didn't sit well with that price. As a petite girl 5'1 needing alterations on a size 12 sample dress, I definitely needed professional help. Nadia was close to my house and after reading reviews I took a chance. She works out of her home and there's a cute changing station and mirror area. She pinned me up very efficiently and for the first time I saw my body beautifully take shape in what used to be a tent of a dress. She has such a soft-spoken, warm demeanor that is comforting. She also has a calm and humble confidence in what she does and assured me that the alterations would be very simple, walking me through what she would do with the straps, the hem, the sides, and the bustle. I even asked for bra cups to be sewed in and she said it would be no problem. Just based on our trial appointment, I had full trust that she would do a great job. Since I decided not to give her the dress yet as it was still 8 months before my wedding (and my body might gain/lose weight) I paid the $25 consultation fee and was instructed to bring it back 3-4 months before. By the time I brought it back, she said it would be ready for pick up 1 month prior to the wedding. As promised, the dress looked absolutely perfect upon the final try on and I still can't believe we didn't need multiple sessions to get it right as I originally anticipated. The bustle work was also SUPER simple and elegant and it made it so easy for people helping me with my bustle on my wedding day. Above all the pricing was so incredibly reasonable, a little under half of what I was originally quoted for the alterations from the boutique. I converted my mom to get her alterations done here and she got her MOB dress altered here too and was super pleased with her work. I can't tell you how grateful I am for Nadia and her services. She's amazing. She did my wedding dress (showed me two ways of doing the bustle and let me choose which one I preferred) and the way she did it was so easy for bridesmaids to understand! (Not confusing at all! Fool proof bustle!). Also, she willingly hemmed my mom's mother of the bride dress--a hard dress to do because it had so much sequence/beading. She did it remarkably fast and saved the day! Even giving my mom the cut-off fabric, so she could make another garment out of it. A stark contrast to a previous experience with a different alterations lady in San Bruno--the lady in San Bruno over promised and under delivered. Nadia did the exact opposite: under promised, over delivered, and it didn't cost an arm/leg. What is also very sweet is that she has daughters of her own, some of who were recently married and she's very much a family woman. I bought my dress at Garnet and Grace. I loved the way it fit in the shop the way the sales associates had it clipped. Nadia was heavily recommended by Garnet and Grace and had good reviews on Yelp, so I decided to go with her. She seemed like a safe choice. I regret not doing more research and finding an alternate seamstress or taking the dress with me when I wasn't confident with the initial pinning. Pinning: - I was really disappointed with how Nadia initially pinned my dress. I felt like it wasn't as flattering as it was when I was in the store. My dress has a satin front and a lace back. I asked her to pin it such that there wasn't gapping at my bust and so that you couldn't see the lace from the front. She told me that wasn't possible, and I would need to make a choice. I could either have the strap taken in removing 50% fabric from each the satin and lace with gapping, or taken 100% from the satin (so you could see the lace from the front). Driving home, I realized there should have been a 3rd option, to take the strap in 100% from the lace. I asked her via text if this was possible. She recommended if I do it that way, I come in for another appointment to re-pin it. This appointment was an additional $50. When I went in for the 2nd appointment, she had altered it wrong. She had taken 50% from the satin and 50% from the lace instead of what we agreed upon via text. When I pointed out it was wrong, she argued that this is what I had asked for. I went against my better judgement and let her do it the way she had pinned it because that was her recommendation and she is the professional. I am so disappointed I did not fight harder for it to be pinned correctly. There is gapping at the bust that she can't fix and you can see the lace from the front. The 2 things I made very clear I did not want. I am now trying to find another seamstress to emergency fix the dress before my wedding. - Nadia also hemmed the dress. She hemmed it shorter than we discussed. Again, when I pointed out that this is shorter than I wanted, she argued that it had been hemmed correctly and she couldn't fix it. I am disappointed in the length of the dress. It honestly feels she chose to alter it the way she wanted rather than taking into consideration my feedback. - When I put on the dress, she asked what I wanted done. Honestly, I expected her to be able to pin it so that it was flattering. I don't have experience altering dresses and didn't realize I needed to do a bunch of research beforehand to guide her. Communication: - It did not feel like Nadia listened to what I wanted or my concerns. Every time I would bring up a concern, she would push back that she was doing it right. - She did not effectively communicate her preferred method of payment. I made sure to discuss with her how she preferred to be paid at the end of my first appointment. She said cash or Zelle. At no point did she say if you want to Zelle, you need to pay before you pick up the dress. I was planning to Zelle when I picked up the dress and had to pay in cash instead because of this poor communication. - She did not follow instructions well and altered the dress a different way than discussed via text. This really broke my confidence in her ability to alter the dress the way I wanted. Overall, getting my dressed altered by Nadia was very stressful. I always felt rushed and never had confidence that she would alter the dress to be flattering. She also did not take or implement feedback well. I now have a dress that looks much worse than it did when clamped at the store. This is honestly one of my biggest wedding planning nightmares come true. I am not excited to wear this dress at my wedding and am very disappointed. If you are also coming from Garnet and Grace and still want to use Nadia, I highly recommend booking an appointment at the store rather than at her home studio. At least at the store, you will have the sales associates there to help advocate for you. I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the alterations are sewn well and the bustle is nicely done. If someone else pins the dress, Nadia can make the alterations well. I am very disappointed in her ability to pin the dress and her overall communication. read more

Normally I would sew patches on my granddaughters Girl Scout vest myself, but after a move, my sewing machine was still packed away. I had three patches needing to be sewn on and I certainly didn't want to hand sew them. I found Nadia's here on Yelp, and sent her an email for a quote.
