DONT GET ALTERATIONS HERE!!! This place did a horrible job, I came in with 3 items a shirt and 2 pairs of pants. I asked to take the long sleeves off a shirt and make it a normal t shirt and to take some length off both pairs of pants. EVERYTHING WAS INCORRECT! The shirts sleeves were cut way shorter than the specifications and the pants lengths were barely altered, from what half ass work I did notice the lady did the sewing was hella crooked causing the cuffs of the pants to be uneven, couldn't even get my money back just don't come here. read more

I brought a corduroy skirt I had purchased from Macy's to this business because it was too big for me. By the time I tried it on--about a month after buying it--it was too late to return. I regretted not trying it on sooner to decide if I wanted to keep it. In fact, I have several other clothes like this that I don't end up wearing because they just don't fit right. When I brought the skirt here, the lady did an amazing job altering it. I rarely use alteration services and initially wasn't sure if it was worth spending the money to fix my clothes. However, I was genuinely impressed by how much the adjustment improved the fit and overall look of the skirt. Now, I'm hooked! My boyfriend walked in on a Wednesday needing 3 dress shirts and pair of slacks dry cleaned by the following Wednesday because he had professional headshots planned . Nothing special, just a dry clean and press. The person at the counter assured him that his items would be ready by the next Wednesday. That next Wednesday, end of day, he arrived just before closing to pick up his items the guy looked around for a minute or two just to let him know the items weren't ready yet. He said the items would however be ready by 9am the next day. His photo shoot however was scheduled for 7am that next day. They were in fact at a secondary location so he couldn't event take his clothes back to somehow wash and prepare his self!! He rushed to Nordstrom to find something else to wear. A week after this he finally went back to pick up the clothes, he still had to wait 15 minutes for them to get the items together to bag them up. Needless to say, we will not be using this place ever again. It's the lies and disregard for his time for me! read more

i used to like this place. i have brought 4 jeans total for alterations. i am 5'1 and pants i get are usually too long when they don't come in petite size. this last time i brought in a couple pants, that was a couple of months ago already, anyway, after getting the pants, when i tried them on, one was still too long and the other uneven. so i brought them back. i waited another week or so again to get the pants and i wasn't able to wear one of the pants already to an event i went to last month. i tried them on, the uneven pants were fixed.. but the one that was too long is uneven! at this point i'm furious. i brought it back again today. i waited 9 days last time, and now i gotta wait another week!!! she argued with me so rudely and told me i have uneven legs!!!!! like wtf!!!! what a way to upset a customer even more!!!! and she argued about which pants were uneven before and too long- i told her that's the problem right there, she got confused about which is which! worst is she is so rude and argued and yelled at me! like wow!!!!!! the first two pairs she altered wrongly, she made me pay half of the alteration fees i paid. this time, she messed up but she believes she didn't, she believes and diagnosed me with uneven legs infront of other customers and she believes she didn't do anything wrong- she would not rush it!!!!!! this is the last time i'm going to this place i never wanna see this rude b**** ever again!!!!!! read more

I haven't used a dry cleaners in a while. That was about 2 months ago...well I have a upcoming funeral to attend, so I opened the bag to look at the suit and noticed it looked like a little kid play ironed the entire suit. It was so wrinkled, like it had been in a bag and then ironed without using steam. I also had a pant suit that they cleaned at the same time and the pant legs and arms of the jacket were wrinkled as well. I paid too much money for dry cleaning, for my clothes to look like they were ironed by an armature and have to iron them myself before wearing. Last time I'll ever trust them and if you know whats good, look for another dry cleaners. read more

Full disclosure: I'm not yet a customer here. I went in today to see how quickly they might be able to alter a dress for a wedding I'm in this weekend. The woman was super nice and told me that the tailor had left for the day (they're typically only there from 8am-2pm, for future reference), and so she couldn't do measurements or hold the dress. She also estimated that it could be done in 2-3 business days which was impressive. I'm giving this place 4 stars because she gave me a super fair price estimate and was really honest about timing and service. I have been coming here every other week for more than 2 years now. This is the best dry clean in the area and the owner tries really hard to do the best job and to please everyone. I bring about 10 button down shirts in every 2 weeks and the shirts always come back flawless and they actually press and check each shirt before they bag it up for the customer. I was so impressed by the alterations here that I had to share my experience. My two-year old son was the ring bearer in a wedding this past weekend and needed a dress shirt taken in. It was a Filipino embroidered dress shirt. I called my Mom first because she's a tailor to find out how much I should expect to pay for having the sides and sleeves taken in (my Mom lives out of state). She said a good tailor would charge about $20. The woman at the first place I went to, AA's Tailors just down the street looked at the shirt, rolled her eyes, and said it would be very expensive. So I asked how much? She quoted me $70! No kidding! The shirt only cost $40. So I went to Smart-N-Cleaners who quoted me $20, just as I expected. The Smart-N-Cleaners tailor did an amazing job and I picked it up four days later. Everything was perfect--fit great, good price, and the job was done on time. Thank you! read more

I was actually going to another cleaners before I ran into this one, but there no was parking available for the other cleaners due to road work on the street. So I passed it up and was going to turn down the next street to make a u turn but instead I saw Smart N Cleaners Right in front of me, without hesitation I just parked and walked in. The Lady was very nice and I was in need of next day service, not for cleaning but repair on my dress slacks// I had a hole-next to my pocket that had opened up along the seem about 1-2inches long. The Lady (Kim) gave me a very reasonable price and also was also able to offer to press my slacks as well for the next day.. I met her 2 dogs there, very friendly and playful. I picked up my pants the next day and was very satisfied with her work, just like brand new. And nicely pressed too.. I will definitely being going back for more great service.. I got a little too buzzed on my birthday and spilled cranberry juice all over my brand new light blue collared shirt. Because of the great review, I took it to get it cleaned at this spot. I walked in and an older Asian lady seemed to be sewing some clothing. She greets me with a warm smile. i show her the damage done to my shirt and she tells me she will try her best to get it out but it's not guaranteed. I was okay with that knowing how tough it is to get juice stains out. She gives me a ticket and i was on my way. I come back on the day she told me it would be done. Great news! She said she got all the stains out. My shirt was cleaned, ironed and covered n plasitc. Looked like a brand new shirt! There was .50 cent debit card charge if you pay under 10 dollar. I didn't care because i was so happy from the results of the cleaning. Great service, reasonable pricing, and prompt timing. I highly recommend this place. read more

Drycleaning in Los Angeles is ridiculously expensive, and makes me realize how much cheaper it is to get things cleaned in the Bay Area. EXPERT alterations. I've had a good amount of alterations done, and over the years my friends have gone here for everything from prom dresses and wedding dresses, to tuxedos and jeans. Always friendly and willing to answer any questions. They have a lot of plants, and the owner will even give you gardening tips occasionally haha. Also as Roy B. mentioned they occasionally have a cute and friendly dog that knows some tricks, but leaves you alone if you don't give it attention (well trained!). I showed up right before closing, in rush to get some dress slacks pressed for a job interview the next day. I had tried to iron the pants at home, but I messed it up ( I didn't have a proper ironing board.). The really nice lady helped me to hand iron my pants while I waited-- turned out real crisp. I asked to have one pair of pants taken out and one pair of pants lowered at the waist- both suit pants so expensive to re-buy. She told me she couldn't take out the pants because there isn't enough material (without having me try them on to even see how much I needed taken out) then said that it was "too much work" to lower the waist in the other pants and that it was too much expensive- WITHOUT EVEN GIVING ME A PRICE- just said "it's too expensive and too much work" I'm sorry, but isn't that what I would pay for is the work? So how can u tell me it's too much work! You say are an alterations business . I won't be coming back here again. read more

I took a very expensive full length satin skirt here to have it hemmed based on the number of great reviews they received. I have a party in a week and my skirt is ruined. The hem is 1"-2" shorter on the left side and the seams don't even match up! How do you not notice the hem is 1 1/2" shorter on one side of the seam!? Unfortunately, I picked it up when they were closing and didn't take the time to look at it, so now I will have to return tomorrow morning to request a refund because $60 is not even remotely acceptable for the horrible work that was done on this skirt. I understand this was not a standard hem and needed extra time and work to do it properly, but one side is perfect and the other looks like she closed her eyes to do it. How can they just ignore that and not fix it!? Very unprofessional and just not acceptable. Because this type of skirt needs a small hem, I am not even sure it can be fixed as they cut off too much material. I am very disappointed. This was a special order skirt and I cannot replace it before the party. I should have left before she helped me when I saw her put someone else's dry cleaning on the floor and then her dog came over, scratched on it and then laid down on it. I thought to myself that I was glad I wasn't having my skirt dry cleaned. I should have known better. I will never come here again and I will advise everyone I know not to come here. read more

When one misses a person because one doesn't need the person's service as much, you know that person has moved from just being someone one does business with, but to a genuine friend. When my husband retired from work, I knew I wouldn't be seeing Mrs. Kim as much because I don't bring his shirts and pants to be cleaned as often, so the few times that I do see her, I try and visit with her for a while. Of course it helps that I am a dog lover myself, and her dogs are so cute. But let me tell you about the difficult stuff she has done for us herself. My husband was given a leather motorcycle-type jacket by a friend of his that is taller than him. The jacket was practically new, but since the sleeves were longer, we had to have them taken in a bit. I thought we had to bring it to a leather specialist, but I thought, we'll try Mrs. Kim first. All she can say is yes or no, well, she looked at it, and she said, it'll take me some time, but I can do it. I knew already she was an excellent seamstress, but leather, thick leather, I wasn't sure she even wanted to take it on, plus it was lined. She did say, just give me some time. I said, take as long as you like. So she measured his arm length, making sure the arm was slightly bent to allow for room, so the sleeves don't ride up too high. It took a while, but man, when it was done, it was perfect. The lining proved to be quite difficult, but Mrs. Kim did a professional looking job. Excellent work indeed. I will post a picture of the sleeves, particularly the inside, so I can show her precision. Just remember, she is a great seamstress, and obviously does alterations and repairs, not just the routine cleaning and pressing. When Mrs. Kim is not there, the other ladies that have worked there are nice, too. I remember Sarah, who has since retired, and another lady who is still there, but her name escapes me at the moment, she's nice, too. It's harder to park now, because of the consruction changes, but one can park on the street instead. Give Smart Cleaners a try; you won't be disappointed. Now remember, if you don't get that warm and fuzzy feeling right away from Mrs. Kim, just remember, it took many years for our friendship to grow, but once you try them, you'll be happy you have a good, solid, and expert cleaners to go to. By the way, Mrs. Kim is an avid golfer, so for you golfers out there, that's some common ground to break the ice with. read more

Excellent job on the dry cleaning. I was a little apprehensive walking in becuase of her two little dogs (dogs + dry clean? But I think those dogs are those breeds with hair, not fur, but regardless...). But my three suit jackets and silk shirt turned out IMPECCABLE. I was very pleased. She even got some difficult to remove stains out of both my silk and a light tweed jacket. She listens to my needs and has advised me how to clean and care for my garments and other items.
