But it was way too big and I had less than a month to alter it. It was so easy to book with Carmelia. Her space is located in an office plaza and the parking lot I front is convenient. I tried on the dress and she immediately knew what needed to be done. She took the time to measure things out and explain to me how material and design of the dress will affect how she alters it to fit me which I really appreciated! The experience I had with the seamstress for ceremony dress was vastly different -- it was as if she was looking to me for guidance when I am not the expert. I had a consultation and fitting, 2nd fitting, and last fitting when I picked up the dress. Each time she was professional, friendly, and personable. It's like she's a really good friend of yours that happens to be a seamstress! I think her prices are really fair. She was able to add a corset on the inside to prevent it from slouching down in the front. She also suggested, adding some buttons in the back of my dress to bustle up the long train. I'm so glad I found her for these important outfits. I couldn't recommend her enough! I had two outfits tailored by Carmelia, and she did an amazing job on both! One was a white satin reception dress from Meshki - the zipper didn't lay right and looked lumpy, but she smoothed everything out, shortened it, and loosened the buttons at the neck so I could actually close the dress. It looked perfect when she was done. She also tailored a two-piece set from Sau Lee that was a size 8, bringing it in quite a lot - and it fit seamlessly. Carmelia saved me! The studio that made my dress made it 10" too long, and it needed significant alterations due to weight loss. Other wedding seamstresses were daunted by the project, but Carmelia took it on without a problem. She shortened the dress to my desired length, removed and resewed floral applique, added tons of corset boning, and hemmed it--a big job! She was so incredibly helpful throughout the alterations process, I always felt supported and knew exactly what was happening.
